Pubic hair on my fried ice cream
    Eddy P.

We came here looking for a great experience due to the view they had, but unfortunately left with some of the worst experience I ever had in a restaurant, service was OK. It was kind of fast and came to see how we were doing every few minutes. The bad experience starts with the food, first of all the price is very expensive compared to the quality of the food, about $30 for two tacos not mention that one taco had only four little shrimps, my wife got the flautas and as soon as she got them, we noticed there were mosquitoes on the food so we returned the plate We ended up eating at a different time because of this problem we still got charged for it, nothing special on the Michelada, which is 18 bucks for only one beer and clamato At the end, we order a dessert of fried ice cream and unfortunately, another bad thing with this food a pubic hair at the bottom of the fried ice cream. It was very nasty. I decided not to complain anymore, but instead to leave a review, this is the first and last time that I'm coming to this place Another thing to point out is the bathroom is in a horrible condition, they don't take the trash out once the bin is full so there's many things that they really have to work on

Fantastic environment to enjoy some Mexican food!

I had been here once before on a Sunday and it was completely packed and I had to sit way in the back and had no access to the view that I had come to see. Today was a Monday afternoon, so I decided to try again with much better success! My table had a fantastic view, dropping straight away from the building, this was exactly what I had been hoping to see! Except for a large group of 14 dominating the outside patio space, the place was very peaceful and quiet and my server very attentive. He brought some house chips and salsa quickly to my table while I looked over the menu. I settled on the chicken quesadilla and was impressed with the size of it. A lot of times it seems quesadillas are chopped into three pieces, but this was five pieces and definitely bigger than I was used to. Everything tasted great and the view definitely contribute to the enjoyment of the experience. I have to say, my two visits were night and day experiences and I look forward to visiting again on a quiet weekday.

My party had the Chili Relleno and Taco combo and an Egg and Chorizo burrito. My dad enjoyed his combo item and I thought the burrito was well made and piping hot. The burrito didn't fall apart as I ate it, food was flavorful and portions were generous. I also drank a big glass of horchata that I enjoyed. The meal came with a side of chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa packed a little heat. The server was attentive to our needs and ambiance was inviting with a gorgeous view of the mountain cliffs if you sit near a window. I enjoyed my dining experience here and I would come back with my family and friends.

Definitely came for the views! Food wasn't as bad as I expected after reading other reviews - got a wet burrito and shrimp tostada salad. Huge servings for both. It was really hot and stuffy inside the restaurant, so wasn't the most comfortable setting.

You are paying for the view, not the food. I added a picture of the burrito my son got with his meal. The kids meals go up to teen age and yet they are something my toddler would eat. There is no way this tiny burrito would fill up my 9 year old boy. When we asked for a bigger burrito they brought a giant one that even I couldn't finish. The food was disappointing. The sauce was either bland or tasted off and salty. The cheese enchiladas had more cheese on the outside than the inside. Even the drinks were misleading, the cup looked huge but when transferred to a smaller cup didn't even fill it half way. Beans and rice were bland. The chips and salsa were the best part of the meal and the view almost isn't worth the food especially at what they charge for it. Oh speaking of the charge. They added to our receipt after we gave the card.. they had wrote in an added tip. We didn't have an issue with a set tip amount but didn't understand why they scribbled out the total and changed the amount after charging our card instead of having it on the bill they gave us. It made us very uncomfortable. Make a sign that people can read, or tell them verbally before you charge their card a completely different amount than the bill. Service wasn't great either. Waiter kept coming back to ask us about our orders.

Just visited Hortencia's Mexican Food in Crestline, CA and I'm still thinking about it First of all -- the VIEW. You drive up into the mountains and suddenly you're eating Mexican food with fresh air, patio vibes, and the prettiest scenery It already feels like a mini getaway before the food even hits. I started with a horchata that was perfectly creamy and refreshing and a blended mango margarita that was sweet, smooth, and dangerously good The chips and salsa were freshly made, warm, thin, and crispy -- literally my favorite kind You can tell everything is made with care and flavor in mind. Then came the steaming chicken and steak fajitas with beans, rice, and guacamole on the side -- and the sizzle sold me instantly So flavorful, filling, and comforting after a mountain drive. And let's talk about the wet burrito with red salsa -- HUGE, saucy, and absolutely worth every bite Overall: amazing food, generous portions, friendly service, and unbeatable mountain vibes Hidden gem in Crestline -- 10/10, will definitely be back!

First time here. Everyone here is friendly and gave us exceptional service. The food was tasty and fresh. They also serve chips and homemade salsa. A bit out of the way by well worth the drive with breath taking views.

    Pina colada + Michelada
    Caitlin F.

Views 8/10 Drinks 6/10, michelada carries the weight Food 2/10 The views are great + beautiful. Michelada was good, the pina colada was mostly just syrup and blended ice. My biggest gripe is the food... if you love oregano, you're going to love this place because everything, I mean EVERYTHING, from the salsa, to the chile verde, and the enchilada sauce was just oregano. Like they lost the cap to it + just poured it all in. The hard shell taco had barely any cheese, mostly lettuce. The chile verde came with only those pieces of meat in the plate, yes - those small pieces of pork you see, that's it. Beef in the enchilada was just big pieces, tortilla unrolling. Beans are not homemade and 100% from the can, not sure where other reviews were getting homemade from. Next time just stay outside and enjoy the view.

Two tacos plate. Shrimp and Lobster tacos.

We came here for the first time with my boyfriend for Sunday brunch. We waited about 20 minutes, but only because we were holding out for a window seat--which was definitely worth it. The view from the windows is beautiful, especially if you enjoy scenic nature views. I ordered the two-taco plate and chose the lobster taco and shrimp taco, served with rice and beans. While the tacos were large and generously filled, they were unfortunately lacking in flavor and ended up being a bit of a disappointment. My boyfriend ordered the steak breakfast, which was also pretty basic. The food wasn't anything to rave about, but the service was good and the window view really stood out. Since we don't live very close, we probably won't be returning anytime soon. That said, I would still recommend the restaurant as a place to try at least once--especially for the view.

    Shrimp Diablo
    Nancy E.

This restaurant has breathtaking views and plenty of window seating for the amazing 180 views. The service was great starting from our host who sat us to our server. They even turned on the TVs so we can catch our Sunday football. The best thing on the menu is the Diablo shrimp. Large shrimp in a spicy lemony sauce. Great portion too!! The Micheladas was also really good and hit the spot! The shrimp enchiladas could have been better with larger shrimp. The a la carte tacos are pretty big and delicious!

I had to take it apart and shred it myself.
    Natalie G.

Where do I start? The pros: no wait, was seated with an amazing view. That's where it stops! The cons: Food was questionably fast. As we dived in, we knew why it took so little time for our food to arrive. The shrimp enchiladas tasted like it was put together with Costco shrimp (cold) and slabbed with sauce and cheese. My daughter's fish tacos resembled and smelled what I feed our cat. My chile relleno was obviously frozen and then reheated. NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING, was actually cooked. More like reheated and slabbed sauce and sent out. Absolutely disgusting!!!!!!!! The only thing this place has going for themselves is the view. THATS IT. Don't waste your money.

What time is the best time to go?

Anytime: it's a popular place but there's always open seats.

When is the best time to visit? Morning, Afternoon, or Evening?

My personal preference would be to go at sunset because you can see the view of the mountains during daylight and the lights at night. There's never a bad time to go though. The views are amazing.

Do they take reservations if I wanted to make sure I got a good table?

No reservations but we've never had trouble getting a good table. Get there early.

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

    Yes they are.

Do they have lard in their beans?

No, beans are made with vegetable oil, onions, water and salt.

    Do they take reservations?

Yes they do take reservations, but one is really not needed as they have many tables and short wait times. It's more like a mexican Denny's. No dress code no fuss.

Do they have mariachi every night?

No. A piano player every friday-Sunday night.

    Do they do brunch?

Yes they do . It is great

Do they allow dogs on patio?

I asked a waitress who said dogs are allowed on the patio.

Walking in yesterday, it was such a good-vibe, welcoming place. There was sunshine coming through the large windows and color all around. I got the BAT Omelette, which was generous with cheese, avocado, bacon, and as a delightful switch up, cherry and grape tomatoes. The presentation was a feast for the eyes, with its dainty and colorful flower petals on top. In fact, all dishes were beautifully presented. I ordered fruit instead of potatoes, which was enough to share. My mom found her bagel and lox delectable and a large enough portion to take 1/2 home. Friends found vegetarian enjoyment in the Goat omelette and the breakfast sammie. They were both well pleased with bellies full. All of us were happy brunchers ! Perfect cook temperature. The fries were surprisingly good. They had a lot of flavor. They were not soggy, greasy. Or potatoey. Kind of pricey for a sandwich shop, and they do not allow half sandwiches and I wish they did. Ultimately, I would eat here again as everything tasted good.

I accidentally ordered a buffalo sauce instead of the bbq for my nuggets, and I was not a fan of the sauce. It was a dark sauce with too much smokiness to it. My friend ordered a side of bbq and that one was much better. The tenders are crispy and pair well with their bbq sauce or their ranch. The burger was also tasty. Fries were okay and I did not like their onion rings. They had a different taste to them. I couldn't put my finger on the flavor but it wasn't good in my opinion. My other friend ordered mozzarella sticks, and they were not good. No cheese pull, and it honestly tasted like moderately fried string cheese. The food took a really long time to come out.
