The staff were all genuinely happy to work despite the rainy day. I personally thought that I wouldn't make the tour as I am not phyisically fit. But the 1st 3 miles were a breeze because most of the time it is going downhill. Then we had brunch- there was an assortment of croissants, muffins, breakfast pastries, coffee, tea and juices. They also provided 2 tickets each/ person for alcohol. No one in our tour drank alcohol as it was too early. The second 3 miles of going back was a tiny bit hard because you are going uphill, but because you are enjoying yourselves too much- you wont even feel the pain. The staff kept on asking if we want our pictures taken. That was constant. You don't have to ask them. They will ask you. This is truly a good experience. I am so glad we did it.

The first time I've seen it was on the show, The Real Housewives of RI. The weather was chilly and drizzly, but it turned out nice for us at our 5 pm departure. It's kid-friendly, we got to stop at a picnic spot with a fire and beautiful views of the water and the Newport bridge. It was easy but exhilarating; definitely a unique experience and I highly recommend. We booked a week in advance. The check in process was seamless. The ride took about an hour and a half with the stop at the picnic spot (there were bathrooms too). There is a parking lot as well. Yes, we would definitely do it again!

That said, for such a large space, it feels surprisingly empty in spots. Maybe they're planning to build it out more over time, because right now it doesn't quite match its own ambition. There are currently a handful of activities like go-karts, a pool, arcade games, billiards, and a few private event rooms. Next time I visit I'd like to check out the pool, which is $25 a person, but it seemed to be a large sized pool, when we went it was not very busy for a Friday night. The restaurant was just okay. Our table was pretty cramped for four people, which feels like a weird oversight in a place that size, come to find there was better seating in a separate area. On the positive side, the waitress, Tanya was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. She even packed up our leftovers for us, which honestly felt like the highlight of the meal. As for the food, it was hit or miss. The fries were way too salty, the deviled eggs leaned heavily on mustard and didn't land well for me, but the fish sandwich was actually solid with fresh, good-quality fish. Unfortunately, that level of quality wasn't consistent across the rest of the table. For a restaurant that leans into Portuguese cuisine, the other dishes were a bit of a letdown. Prices were pretty standard for the area, nothing shocking there. We ended our visit in a gift shop that predominately is filled with 3D printed fidget toys.

The architecture alone makes it worth the visit -- the stonework, the grand entry, and the overall historic feel give it such a unique presence. What stood out most was how well the property is maintained. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and there's a sense of privacy that makes it feel like you're somewhere far outside of the South Coast. It's the kind of place that makes you slow down and just take it in. The staff (if you're attending an event there) are professional and organized, and everything feels thoughtfully put together. Whether you're going for an event, photos, or just appreciating the structure itself, it definitely leaves an impression. Massachusetts has a lot of historic charm, but this place feels truly special. If you're looking for something different -- something that doesn't feel like the usual banquet hall -- this is it. Would absolutely recommend checking it out.
