Yes, they've got candy, and chips, and beef jerky, and coffee, and sodas, and cigarettes, and lotto tickets. But they've also got non-surly service, a pretty solid selection of craft beer, and best of all, an actual food counter where you can get real food. Pleasantly surprised with this place. It's a gas station and convenience store located in a fairly rural area. They make very decent sandwiches using Boars Head cold cuts and plenty of other breakfast and lunch time options. The staff is very friendly and courteous. When I visited they had a bunch of tables and benches outside allowing you to sit and enjoy your meal. If you find yourself in upstate New York and in the area, this is a pretty good place to stop for some gas and food. read more

This is the only convenience store around that has a diner and gas station (24 hours with credit cards) for miles around. We've got a place up Rt 145, maybe 15 or 20 minutes and this place is a necessity. We had breakfast here and it was reasonable and good. The home fries, more done than we usually are accustomed to, were great, as were the blueberry pancakes. The convenience store has all of your necessities, some groceries, beverages, dairy, etc. When the nearest grocery store is more than a half hour drive each way, The Milk Run is a much needed, much used gold-mine. read more

Milk run is a country-style breakfast joint nestled in an obscure little area of Greene County. Their clientele is mostly comprised of regulars, mainly truck drivers and the like, but the food is pretty good. Although they offer a few basic "dinner specials" on their well-worn, plastic menu-cards, the real draw here is their breakfast: Omelets made just right, using local country sausage, bacon, and eggs. And the bread is delivered fresh daily from a bakery downstate...served soft and warm. Yes, it's a little out of the way for some, but if you're traveling through the area to attend one of the many local festivals, you might want to give this place a shot. read more

Great place for Breakfast!! Coffee was awesome as were the eggs and sausage!! Service was excellent and friendly staff!! Ate inside at the counter but they also have outdoor picnic tables. This is a gas station(convenient store) but don't let that fool you. They have a full restaurant inside with lots of homemade food!! Totally will be going back next time I am in the area!! read more

We moved into the area and happened up to The Milk Run for dinner, and omg. The food is absolutely AMAZING! I have a new favorite place. We have been back many many times since! Dave, Mike, and the crew who do the cooking are absolutely nothing short of the best cooks in the history of forever! You Can Take The Boy Out of The City.......... .....and after visiting The Milk Run, I learned you can take the city out of the boy as well! We had just arrived from a long trip for a family event in the Catskills and we were starving! As other reviews have cited, this is the only place for miles, it was a perfect opportunity to stop, stretch, fuel up the car and our bellies....and boy did we! For a city boy, it was a bit awkward to me. A tiny little diner in the back, with what appeared to be a bunch of locals catching up on their morning news and gossip. There was one server instrumentally covering the counter and the tables and she didn't miss a beat. She was friendly, kind, and had the most genuine smile. I remember her name was Elaine. Although the store part of the building was empty, there wasn't an empty seat to be found in the diner area, so I waited for a seat at the bar for a while. Elaine signaled when one opened up and I pulled up a stool. It was then the 'magic' ensued! It was here I learned my breakfast sandwich wasn't served on a just a roll - Here, it's called a hard roll. Don't let the name fool you! Here, a 'hard' roll is some type of magical bread that is unmatched in any other part of this country. What struck me the most is that this isn't a place the server would follow 'scripted' food service protocol: (Greet, take order, deliver order, check in etc etc). I must of stuck out like a sore thumb as a non-local because Elaine was careful to take great care of me and find that perfect balance of 'local love' and traditional service. By the end of my quick, late breakfast and stretch of the legs, I felt right at home and had I not just been passing through, I would most certainly be returning here day after day fighting for a seat of my own! Until we return for the next family event in the area, if you find yourself passing by; make it a point to stop in and enjoy some quality country hospitality! read more

Having land less than 5 miles away, this place is a Godsend! Sit down restaurant area has a full breakfast/lunch/dinner menu. Breakfast for 2 = less than $10! This place is a great pitstop to hold you over for a long ride (i.e. to NYC). They even have a gas station and a bathroom. I once got a roast beef sandwich with melted cheese on a roasted on toasted whole wheat and, much to our surprise it hit the spot. Next time I got a short stack of French toast and the hubby the Bacon, egg, and cheese. With a large and small coffee, it was less than $11. Always ordered to go, but they have tables and a counter you can sit at too. I once stopped by and got a bag of ice for a cooler too...and a map...lol... read more

I am not sure if service changes if you are a person of color, but it sure seemed that way. Its not all the workers, but some are a bit more cultural conscious and are friendlier than others. I stayed in Oak Hill over the memorial day weekend, and on 5/26 i went in to pick up some stuff as this is the nearest gas station. The 2 guys in front of me where taking longer than usual purchasing lotto tickets and scratching them on the spot. The lady behind the counter was the only person there. I kept waiting patiently on the line, making myself aware of how long they were taking. She finally finished with them and she rang up my items, and rushed to give me my change. The 2 guys(who now moved toward the register on the left) i guess they won on their scratching lotto ticket, homegirl stopped what she was doing to go assist them, with my items still on the counter without a bag, without asking me if i needed one, (this made me upset), still patiently waiting for her with my purchases, i kindly asked her hey, can i get a bag? After she was done, she came back provided one for me. (Same service for all)!? The day before, on 5/25 i stopped in for soft serve (is really good) i came in and asked for 2 soft serves on a cup. Another lady assisted me (not the same one from Sunday) and she goes "what flavor, we have many" with the worst attitude. (First off, theres no sign no where that there is soft serve or that they sell it, and the only reason why i found out about the soft serve was because another customer was exiting with one) i asked her what flavors do you have? She said them really fast and i asked her to repeat it. She did not look like she wanted to help me. This place is lucky that they are the only gas station near Oak Hill and we were left with no other options to go there. heading upstate for a brief escape from the daily grind, the GPS was set for "direct route" instead of "take major highways". and so, I ended up on the sparsely-populated Route 145, just as I was starting to feel really hungry. as it turned out, I found a solid lunch spot here at The Milk Run. it's a pretty standard gas station, convenience store, and small dining area. nothing fancy, but a good place to relax for a few minutes, hit the bathroom, and grab a quick lunch. the roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce and a mega-sized onion ring on it was actually really good! the macaroni salad was alright. pricing was cheap, and the service was quick and friendly. lots of truckers, campers, farmers, and hunters all stopping in for a break. I felt my patriotism soaring like a bald eagle just by stopping in here, which gave me HIGH ENERGY for the rest of my trip. read more

Found this randomly on a road trip on 145 noticing that there weren't many other options on places to stop. My friends and I were very happily surprised to see they had a great selection, decent bathrooms, and best of all some kick ass food! Stumbled across this gem while take the blue highways upstate. Got a breakfast sandwich and 2 coffees for under ten bucks- and both food & drink we very good. True, young woman behind the counter didn't seem too involved with her job, but she was moving fast and frowned equally upon everybody. Great pit stop for a long country drive. the milk run is the bomb. the burgers and fries are really good, it saves you a trip to greenville if you want some groceries and live in oak hill, the people are cool and in the summer there are fruit stands with local bakery sweets and such. i don't live in oak hill anymore but i had to give a shout out to milk run for making my stay there better read more
