The cheese was warm and gooey over tender potatoes, and accompanied by various pickled items & crostini. The herbed spaetzle was good, though a touch sweet for my taste. Regardless, it was delicious and warm. The waiter had the schnitzel split for us without asking, which I appreciated. It was juicy and paired with sour/sweet red cabbage and mustard/tangy German potato salad. The meal was very filling and not badly priced. The food here is legitimately delicious, not "just good" for a restaurant near the ski resort. We sat outside on the upper deck with a nice mountain view. After dinner we had a drink by one of the open fire pits outside, which was a cozy way to end a delicious meal. We will definitely be back when in the area.

Ive been to Germany a few times and can say this is authentic. The chicken schnitzel with jager sauce is so flavorful and rich. The jager sauce is a dark brown mushroom sauce (similar to a Marsala). The name jager means huntsman. Substituted the seasonal vegetable (carrot and asparagus) for the cabbage which was so delicious. The meal is hearty and rich. The staff was wonderful. The Apple strudel was one of the best desserts I've ever had with cinnamon ice cream. I can only imagine how cozy this place is during the fall and winter. Absolutely worth the price.

We really enjoyed the Catch & Release, Mountain Life and the Dutchie. The basil in the Dutchie was really refreshing! We purchased Mountain Life and Dutchie in cans. The food was definitely not the highlight. They told us they were very behind and that the pizza would take an hour or more. They also wouldn't take our order initially because they had no buzzers left. We came back two times to see if any buzzers had come back. We ended up ordering the smash burger, the chicken sando, and fries. This order took about 20-25 mins. The Smash burger had a nice caramelization. The chicken sando was tasty, but not worth the wait. We arrived around 7:45 p.m., ordered drinks, and then waited an entire hour before receiving our appetizer--after the restaurant had mostly emptied out. The "nachos" were nothing more than broken tortilla chips topped with vegetarian chili and a few jalapeños. There was virtually no cheese, and I had to ask for sour cream. To make matters worse, they were served with paper plates. During that entire hour, our waitress never once checked on us. She never apologized for the wait, never refilled our drinks, and never asked if we needed anything. We honestly thought our order had been forgotten. The atmosphere wasn't much better. We heard other tables complaining, glasses crashing to the floor, and the entire evening felt like we were on a prank show. By 9:15 p.m.--an hour and a half after arriving--we still hadn't received our entrees, which were simply a grilled chicken salad, chicken fingers with fries, and a kielbasa dinner. I can't comment on the food because we never got it. At 9:20 p.m., I politely got up and asked our waitress how much longer it would be. Without even looking up, she snapped, "She's working on it." No apology. No explanation. Just attitude. At that point, we'd had enough. I asked for the check for our drinks and appetizer so we could leave. She stormed away. When she returned, she dropped the check on our table--which still hadn't been cleared from the appetizer--and walked away. When I asked her what her name was, she ignored me completely. I then asked the blonde bartender for the waitress's name. She first told me it was Paula, then quickly corrected herself and said, "Oh wait, it's actually Jess," once she realized why I was asking, so I'm still not sure which is correct. The waitress appeared to be a heavy-set woman in her late 30s or early 40s with brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, which should help management identify who waited on our table. Before we left, we overheard the bartender telling two guests that there was only one server and one bartender working, another employee had been called in too late to make a difference, and the cook on duty wasn't the strongest, which was why the kitchen was so slow. While I understand that staffing shortages happen, none of this was ever communicated to us. A simple explanation and apology would have gone a long way. I paid the bill and left. We have a vacation home just 15 minutes away and dine in the area often. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will never return. Between the excessive wait, poor communication, rude service, and disappointing food, this was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had.

I quickly decided to order the special, which was Pastrami on Marble Rye ($8 plus tax) served with chips and dill pickle. I was offered to upgrade to hand cut fries for $1.50 more, but I was all set with the standard potato chips. The food was made to order by Amy (owner) in the open kitchen area and served nice and hot. The grilled pastrami sandwich had tender slices (not greasy) of lean pastrami, layered with melted Swiss cheese, and spicy mustard dressing between soft grilled marble rye bread. The ruffled potato chips (salted) were standard. After I finished my lunch, I was asked if I wanted anything else, but I was all set and needed to be back on the road. The grilled pastrami sandwich was very good, just what I needed for good lunch. The service was prompt and friendly. NOTE: Cell reception is nonexistent here.
