I'm not usually the type to take the time to write a good review but The Mist Spa more than deserves one. My mom and I wanted to get a massage done but are used to going to cheaper chain business on the west side. We wanted to do something more special together. After a lot of research for massages on the west side of LA we found and decided on The Mist Spa. We made an appointment online the day before which was easy and helpful. The day of our appointment we ended up having a delayed morning and had to call last minute to change our appointment to a later time by an hour. Most massage places would be angry but they were so understanding at our inconvenience to their time. When we arrived the woman at the front desk who greeted us was so kind and warm and welcoming which is the energy you want before a massage. She gave us forms to fill out on the exact massage we want and our needs which is much more professional than other places I have been. My mom requested a sweedish and I asked for deep tissue to the front desk and she said great no problem and that's exactly what we got. They were on time and the interior was very neat and clean and nicely styled. Michelle did my deep tissue massage and I can say it was the best message i've ever had and i've been having them done for years. She adjusted the pressure to be stronger like I asked and I could tell she put in all of her effort for the strong pressure I asked for. It really felt like she cared about her service and making sure I left with 100% satisfaction. She checked in on me throughout the massage to make sure everything was great which it was. At one point I started to get slightly chilly since they kept their AC nice since it was a hot day out and Michelle noticed before I even had to say anything and turned on my massage chair to a heat setting! I've never had my massage chair become a heat seat but WOW it was amazing! The deep tissue massage was truly the best i've ever had and I can physically feel the relief of tension like I never have before from other places. My mom also really really enjoyed her sweedish massage. We payed together and tipped two 20$ for each of our masseuses for two 80$ massages which is gratitude level but we agreed we would of tipped more but my mom didn't bring enough cash with her, next time! Matteo is a miracle healer: he cured my hip pain of 10 long years in a one hour session. I am so very grateful. I had chronic SI joint instablitiy and piriformis syndrome. Did the whole 9 yards: chiropractor, transcutaneous stimulation and acupuncture. Nothing helped. Quit squatting, got worse. Now Matteo was recommended to me. He has a magic hands, a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology and gets to the root of the problem. He was able to cure my pain (I've been living with for 10 years now) in one hour. Booked an appointment and I was seen here the next day ! On 14th of February, for Valentines day. They were able to accommodate the room I wanted ( couples room ) and at the time I wanted. When we got there, we filled out a quick questionnaire about what areas we wanted them to target. It didn't take long at all and then we were walked back to our room. I had Samantha and the person I was with had Luka. Let me just say that this was the best way to spend my money !!! Samantha did not hesitate to work on my back and got rid of a lot of the knots in my back, same as Luka for my partner. These were the best massages we ever had !!! I loved the design and details in our room, you have a feeling like you are in a cabin in Scandinavia. I rarely write reviews, however after receiving two Medical Massages from Matteo at The Mist Spa I knew that I had to get the word out. I am an Assistant Editor on Scripted Television Shows as well as compete on an amateur level in Triathlons. In 2013, I had a condition called Drop Foot, which at the time I didn't know what it was aside from what I was reading on Dr. Google. I did know that the top of my foot went numb about a week earlier and I blew it off thinking that it was only a minor injury I had sustained at the gym. I thought that the feeling would return. Then about a week later I could not dorsiflex my right foot, it was paralyzed. I didn't know what was causing the condition, nor did the doctors I saw. I thought it started from sitting at my desk for 80-100 hours of work per week, while doing strength-training everyday. I went to a neurologist and he did several tests to check my nerves. He told me I had two choices to take Ibuprofen, which likely would leave me paralyzed for life or go on a prescribed steroid to reduce the inflammation in my right leg, which hopefully would help heal it. He also prescribed several hours of PT. I did the PT for 6 months before movement returned to me fully and I could walk normal once again. With that experience I began training for Triathlons and loved seeing my body grow stronger everyday and the friends and experiences that came with it, however a few years after starting I noticed heaviness in my lower legs, which felt like cement. I blew it off, as part of the bricks - running after cycling, fellow athletes told me it was normal. By the beginning of 2015 I noticed that my lower legs would begin burning after starting a run and I knew that was not normal. I also had swelling around my ankles, which I had never had before. Over the next few years I kept trying to run and Mountain Bike to get ready for XTERRA racing. I wanted to be strong again; I wanted to compete at a higher level and not feel that burning in my lower legs. I pushed through until I had the Drop Foot return on me in the middle of a Hot Yoga class. I was terrified in that class and told the teacher what was happening. He told me that it was in my head and I could change the path of my nerves. I loved his calmness and positive outlook, but I knew I would have to take steroid to regain the movement of the dorsiflexion in my right foot again and begin PT. I told my Primary Doctor I knew what it was because I had it before and to put me on steroids for the inflammation, which she did. Then I got a battery of tests for Lupus, MS, and other nerve conditions they checked my B vitamin levels and did a nerve test where I laid on a metal table and had needles shoved into my nerves to see if they had electricity going through them - it is painful and not fun. The checked my back and my knees. There was nothing wrong with me. I was sent to a sports doctor who wanted to cut my fascia because I was diagnosed with Compartment Syndrome. I debated on whether or not to continue down this path, but chose to do PT. I chose not to do the surgery, but still had the heavy legs and the swelling. I tried a specialist massage therapist who did scraping and it helped a bit, but the swelling was still there and it returned quickly. Here I am a few more years later today thankful that I met Matteo. He noticed right away without me saying a word that my ankles were cold. I was shocked how did you know? Here I had spent years screaming at doctors what I felt and he felt it before I said a word. He got me on his table and started to perform his massage I immediately knew this was a different experience. On the first night I had the warmth return in my lower legs. Then, the next morning they were still warm and I could feel my feet again. I couldn't believe what was happening. It was easier to breath when training and I could do kick sets in the pool without my legs weighing me down like a rock (what felt like lactic acid). He has seen me one more time since me writing this review. He wanted to see how my run would feel and to report back afterwards. I did hill repeats on the treadmill and began to smile right away because my legs they are lighter and they turned over faster. My legs remained warm and no burning. I checked my ankles after the run to see - I thought I bet the swellings back, but you know what it wasn't. My body is kind of a mess from the abuse and inaccurate diagnosis and stress, however in just two sessions with Matteo I am able to run without that burning in my lower legs. Thank you so much Matteo! You have brought a Champions Heart back to her with every session. I look forward to more sessions. I know it will take more than just two, but in just two massages I knew I had to recommend Matteo. I feel like a new person already! Matteo performed a medical massage which I had never had before nor had I been aware of that type of massage. I told him areas where I was sore or tight and he loosened and opened up all problem areas by massaging surrounding areas! He is so knowledgeable of the body and didn't just give me a stereotypical deep tissue massage that leaves you sore later and only provides minor relief. I got a medical massage with Matteo and it was unlike anything I've ever had before! I went in with severe muscle tension in my neck. He did an evaluation and performed a massage that loosened up and mobilized my shoulders which in turn made my neck muscles relax. My neck feels way less tense. I highly recommend the medical massage with Matteo if you are having any sort of chronic muscle pain. I was experiencing right shoulder pain from playing volleyball and upper trap pain probably from bad posture. He identified that my right shoulder pain was coming from a lack of flexibility and was able to improve my range of motion with my right arm and now my shoulder pain is gone! Had a really bad experience here that left me unable to move normally for two days afterward. My masseuse focused heavily on my chest even tho I request a back massage. Her technique was awful, her nails were long and kept digging into my skin painfully. The room and her hands were freezing cold and she had an upset stomach that was making weird loud gurgling sounds the whole time.
