Went here for pizza today, which I had heard was excellent, but wasn't expecting much from the beer. I say that only because Grand Rapid's saturated brewery scene has, in my opinion, a lot of duds. I had also previously bought a four pack of one of their beers and thought it was just okay. Pleasantly surprised, however, the beer was fantastic. I had a flight and then a pint, of mostly their ales - a couple pales, including the session, a couple single IPAs, their hazy NEIPA, one of the browns and their DIPA (which they also list as an 'imperial'... not quite, at 8.9%ABV, I believe it was... I digress, it was super tasty either way). They have a ton of other types on tap, though, it was just a hot day and I didn't want to drink anything else. Also had a pizza flight, which was insanely awesome, and way too much food for two people. It'd be perfect for four, and at $30 that's a wicked good deal for that quality of pizza. Was there around 2pm today, a Saturday, and it was slammed. However, service was still on point and our waitress was super friendly and attentive. 5/5, highly recommend read more

Ordered the Phil sticks as an appetizer. While it was perfectly crispy and soft, the glaze was very sweet, a little too sweet for my personal preference, but overall good breadsticks. Great microbrewery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The food was tremendous. Appetizer of roasted Cajun wings with a side of Chipotle bbq sauce. Wings were delicious, Cajun is my favorite, I put that s**t on everything. Seasoning was perfect, wings tender and juicy, plus they were the whole wing. For dinner, I got the Cuban, Pulled pork from 2 Scotts Barbecue, roasted pork belly, swiss, tropical dijonnaise and pickles served on telera roll. Served with Great Lakes potato chips and a pickle spear on the side. This sandwich was amazing, so good. Pulled pork and Pork belly was tender, with a smoky flavor. Visited here for the first time recently because I hear so many people raving about it. Our group didn't get any food - just drinks - so I can't speak on that. (I've heard their pizza is absolutely incredible though. And they have pizza flights?! Definitely going to go back to try that.) Our experience was really nice, we sat outside on a small patio area (which is also dog friendly!) and it was enjoyable. I wanted to give this place five stars BUT I was quite disappointed with the lack of dark beers on tap. The first tap list our server brought out to us was an outdated one and almost every porter/stout on the list was actually unavailable. I was super bummed about that. The darkest one they had was a brown ale, which was really good but I wish they would've had more selection. Oh well. Maybe next time when I head back for pizza they'll have some darker beers on tap! read more

With an awesome atmosphere, fun and friendly staff, and downright delicious food, I can see why The Mitten is a favorite spot for pizza and beer in GR. I've visited a couple times and have tried the Hog Heaven and Curse of the Goat pizzas. The Hog Heaven is definitely a favorite, featuring delicious pulled pork from Two Scotts Barbecue. I feel like usually when I order a dish with pulled pork at a restaurant, far too often the pork is dry- this is definitely not the case with the perfectly prepared Hog Heaven pizza. When you order your pizza at The Mitten, don't forget to try their cheesy breadsticks, a simple yet classic addition to the meal. While the pizzas on the menu are all very unique, what really makes the menu stand out is the mouthwatering bread they use to make their pies. I can't get enough. While I can't remember any above and beyond service I've received here by servers, I'd love to give props to the bartender that I received my takeout order from yesterday evening. He was very charming and funny and had us laughing while waiting for our pizza to be finished. It made the wait on a busy night much more bearable :) In short, if you're looking for a cool and yummy pizza place in GR, The Mitten Brewing is definitely a stop to check off your list. read more

WOW! All I can say is wow. This place is amazing. Not many breweries can master their beer and food and this place does! The beer here was fantastic. They have a huge variety of beers and obviously I tried a plethora of them. You can get a flight of beers for a reasonable price (price changes depending on which ones you select) but overall, the prices are reasonable. The food here was a 5/5. We had a pizza flight and again got a variety of their pizzas! It fed all four of us for only $27! Beer flights + Pizza flights are the way to go. My only complaint is that the pizza took foreverrrr to get to our table. However, our waitress was really nice and wasn't overreactive to our complaints. The atmosphere is your typical brewery with sports on in the background. They adhere to COVID policies so everyone's distanced and they have a majority of seating outside with a few inside options. Overall, I will be coming back to this place next time I'm in town! I'd recommend getting a reservation at this place or showing up early because it'll pack up quick. read more

The Mitten Brewing Co. has a pizza flight (dine in only, unfortunately) where you can try six - that's right, SIX - different speciality pizzas. Some of my favorites include the hot dog pizza (The Westerdog) and the BBQ Mac and Cheese (Mac Daddy) pizza. But their true winner? They're recently brought back to the menu, one of a kind CHICKEN & WAFFLES pizza. My only feedback would be a suggestion for some type of curbside service during COVID. It's tricky getting across Leonard and definitely not fun in the dark. This Mitten Brewing Company is the original location, found on the Northwest side of Grand Rapids in a former fire house (Engine House No. 9). The building has been restored to its former glory and the owners have been careful to maintain its history, which you can read about on their website (along with some spooky information about the resident ghost...) Mitten Brewing is a very fun place to stop in with friends to watch a Tigers game or just catch up over a beer and some pizza. Menu-wise, they are known for their awesome pizza and let me tell you, it's some of my favorite in town. They range from basic (margherita) to unique (Thai Cobb) to wild (chicken and waffles) - and if you can't decide, don't worry! You can order this amazing thing called a Pizza Flight. That's right, you can sample six different pizzas all at once. It's a lot of food (feeds up to four people) but definitely worth it. My favorites are the Thai Cobb and Mediterranean. Another very cool thing about the Mitten Brewing Company menu is that almost all of their items can be made vegan! They offer vegan pepperoni, vegan chicken, jackfruit, vegan chorizo, vegan Italian sausage, and vegan bacon! I'm not vegan, but I've had their vegan pizza and can confirm that it is delicious. Most of the Tier 1 beers have baseball-themed names, like the Triple Crown Brown, The Stretch, and Put Me In, Kolsch. However, most of my favorites come from Tier 2 and while they are not as cleverly named, they're still delicious. The Mango Gold is one of my all-time favorites; it's refreshing and as the kids say, "crushable" for hot summer days! Service here is great and friendly, and you feel like one of the neighbors when you stop here. There is a small parking lot and street parking but it can get packed! No reservations here so pop in and grab a beer at the bar if there's a wait. read more

We have back so many time since my original review I am embarrassed I haven't upped their rating earlier, so sorry Mitten! The Mitten has become our families favorite. Not only are their pizzas sublime (we always split the heater, yum!), their beers thirst quenching (Triple Crown Brown FTW!) but they are SO good with our kids. They never fail to make it clear that families are welcomed. One time in particular we went and one of the servers remembered my kids love of nature shows and went out of their way to try to find one on one of the tvs despite the Tigers game being on. Its this level of familiarity and attention to detail that makes the service at The mitten rise to the top. read more
