We've been to Harper House a couple of times, many moons ago when it was located in Hopkinsville...but never made it up to Cadiz when they relocated until last November. I didn't take any photos during that trip for this review and since everything about Harper House said, "Come on back and get some more." we decided to get back up there for another round. Reservations were for 7pm and we got there a tad early, but were seated promptly and probably right at 7pm...I wasn't checking my watch. We started off with a basket of their fried pickles (last time we started with the Group Grazing Board, but we had more in our party). They came out from the kitchen quickly and there's a really good portion for the price. They weren't as crispy as they could be, but they were really tasty. They came with a house made ranch dipping sauce that was just what we expected...ranch sauce. They did bring out some of their house cornbread as well with strawberry butter. I'm not a fan of cornbread all in all unless it comes in muffin form with cheese and jalapenos to eat with some pinto beans...but this was good. Had a hint of sweetness to it as well, which went well with the strawberry butter. My wife ordered the 7oz center cut filet mignon but she subsituted the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts for Harper House Mac-n-Cheese and Crispy Red Potatoes. Initially, the filet came out slightly underdone, but they quickly made it right. She really liked it, said that it was exactly what a filet should be...and the peppercorn demi glaze made it that much better. I ordered the ribeye and kept the sides as is (baked potato & thin cut crispy onion strings). This was a super flavorful cut with an insanely rich, bold flavor and just the right amount of fat marbled throughout the cut. If you live right there in Cadiz and haven't been to Harper House, head over there to grab a bite. If you live down I24, you owe it to yourself to make the 30 minute drive and give it a shot. we went there for my wife's birthday and made reservations. The waitress was great but saw my first red flag when what I wanted to order they were out of and this was 6pm on a Thursday night and not that busy. Second red flag the reservation ask if it was a special occasion and I put it was my wife's birthday it was news to our waitress. Ordered food and appetizer. Food came before appetizer and it is normal for them to serve cornbread. no cornbread. Wife's food was over cooked salmon and greasy potatoes and cold green beans. Mine was over priced watery potatoes pie. We got cornbread Togo and cheese cake to replace fried pickles that never came. Plus 10 in coupons for future use. No manager ever came over and I filled out review online and never heard back. Afraid this place will not survive. read more

From start to finish the staff made us feel special and appreciated. They congratulated us on our anniversary and introduced themselves with great respect. The food was amazing. Steak was a perfect medium rare prime rib was smoked to perfection and the flavor of both was so good. The queso appetizer was really good with burnt ends that took it to a perfect 10/10. The place was perfectly clean and with a 4:30 reservation the restaurant was quiet and just starting to get some patrons. This was a special experience that we will remember forever! You guys know I am transparent with pricing and with a generous tip this was about $200. Important notes are that we got the two most expensive things on the menu minus the real fancy drinks and that this was a special 1 year anniversary. Let me start by giving a shoutout to the MVP of our Thanksgiving meal--John L, the best server in the house. We were at Table 201, 1:30 PM sharp, and John was on it. Glasses stayed full, the table was well taken care of, and he even threw in some fun stories to keep us entertained. He made our meal feel like more than just another day out. Now, about the Harper House... this place never misses. We've been here several times, and not once have we had a bad meal or bad service. The atmosphere? Gorgeous. It's the kind of spot that makes an hour-and-15-minute drive feel worth it every single time. First for a fruity butter and I really liked it. Had a small Cesar salad with deliciously garlic dressing. The tempura roll was interesting. My filet was a perfect medium rare. Wished the pepper sauce was on the side, as it took away from the meat. Asparagus was over cooked. Baked potato was drowning in butter. Zoodoo pasta was fairly good for a non Cajun restaurant. Tails on the 2 shrimp were a chocking hazard. Spice level was just right. Over priced for what we received. Service was extremely rushed. Given our check and take home containers before we finished our main course. Ordered a coffee and it was served in a styrofoam cup. Was never told anything about dessert. It was not crowded. We've been here a handful of times and actually stopped coming for a while because it went downhill during covid. Thankfully, the food is better now! This time around we ordered the special, flatbread pesto pizza as well as the prime rib sandwich and the smothered chicken. The service was good and the food was great, but time management in the kitchen is still subpar. We got our flatbread, then our drink from the bar, then the cornbread and when our meals came out, the sides were hot with the chicken, but the chicken was cold. We went ahead and shared the prime rib so I could take my chicken home and heat it up for another meal. So somewhere in the kitchen, they need to work on timing. This was an issue the last couple times too, hence why we didn't come for a while. The food is still delicious though. We love the brussel sprouts and macaroni and cheese. The cornbread is always delicious. The drink from the bar was very well done, just again on the slower side. It's always a lovely place to come as a couple or with friends because it is good food and a casual/romantic atmosphere. I always recommend reservations as it does get busy. This establishment is really nice. The bar set up is super cool and the dining area is really cool too. Our sever Emma was very nice, tentative, and really knowledgeable about the food and even the wood for the booths all being locally sourced and hand carved. The food was delicious as well! This visit went wrong right from the start. I ordered unsweet tea and when they brought it out it looked like water. I asked the waitress to take it back because it was too weak. She brought another one out stating she poured the original from a pitcher to try this one. It wasn't any better. Then my meal came out. I ordered a filet steak, well done. When they brought it out, they gave the well done to my husband and the medium well to me. No big deal, we switched steaks. When I bit into it, it was so disgusting. It was spoiled. I love this place. Definitely a must try if you are in the area. The Hickory Smoked Prime Rib they do every weekend is amazing. Baby back Ribs- yum! I was very disappointed, my wife and I went there new years Eve expecting something special but my wife's shrimp and grits was just not very good small portion and weak on flavors. My house salad had lettuce in it that looked like cooked spinach,, old. My ribs looked like they were oven baked with store bought bbq sauce poured on top. The boiled eggs and pickles were really good,,we should have gotten two orders of that and called it a night. Way way overpriced .100+$ and very disappointed. read more

Not sure what happened to Harper house but the food has really gone downhill. We gave it another try last night. Had the special Mahi and it was way over cooked. I was in awe from the parking lot. The decor is eclectic with large grain bins, lots of beautiful wood and dimmer lighting creates a low key or classy atmosphere for a special occasion. The menu was overwhelming because there were so many excellent choices. I had the brisket tacos, and had taste bud heaven trying to figure these tacos out. The slaw on the tacos was made from shredded Brussels sprouts, cabbage and carrots with a slight tangy sauce. The brisket was moist and the jalepeno bottle caps on top were slightly sweet. I had the cheese curds for an appetizer, and they were lightly breaded and the perfect temperature so it was plenty gooey cheese. There were booths for small groups and large group seating areas as well. This would be great for a date, special birthday dinners or just when you want excellent food in your mouth. Reading precious reviews and checking out the menu, things have drastically changed, either because of Covid, new owners, or both. Either way, my fiancé and I were not disappointed with our meals, nor the service from our server. It was Friday night, we were easily able to reschedule our reservation from 7:30 to 8:30, greeted at the door, seated promptly, Jay arrived within seconds of being seated, and was attentive to our party of 2 as well as his other tables throughout the entire night. I appreciate that! A quick glance at the menu, and we ordered the steakhouse sushi. After a bit longer, we agreed we should have opted for the deviled eggs. The sushi was all rice, no flavor, and bland, even with the side of soy sauce and a spicy red sauce it came with. After the disappointing sushi, our hopes for dinner weren't high, but we couldn't stop eating our filet, mashed potatoes, and glazed Brussels sprouts. That entire plate was amazing. Perfectly seared to medium rare, creamy potatoes, and the sprouts were absolutely delicious. There aren't enough words to describe how mind-blowing our steaks were, except that I was willing to make myself sick trying to eat it all. Now onto dessert: I love blueberries, my fiancé does too. I liked the cheesecake, he didn't, so Jay boxed a New York style cheesecake that neither of us have tried yet. (I'm writing this the morning after and trust me, we're both still full.) After a long day of getting my granddaughter ready for prom we went for a relaxing dinner and live music. Jordan Robert's was playing in the piano bar and I have to say if you get a chance give him a listen. He is great! Loved all his music. We started with the Grazing board which has a little of everything and the Ahi tuna sashimi. Definitely recommend the pork belly and the brisket was fork tender. I had my favorite the pork chop, and it was a bit deferent than before. It was topped with a pear compote. While the same well cooked deliciousness I still like the orange chili glaze better. My daughter had the salmon which never disappoints, and the boys had the Shrimp and Grits. The flavors were there but it was more like a soup than the creamy grits topped with shrimp we are used to. As always our server Angela was great, but we really love our Logan! He's the best. The evening was topped off with the boys having their bourbons, Elmer T and George T. We girls opted for a margarita and peach sangria. All in all a great evening just wish the shrimp and grits were a bit less soupy. read more

Harper House is probably the finest dining available in Hopkinsville, KY. The tableside guacamole was delicious. A server sets up a small serving tray next to your table with a peeled avocado (I think 2 or 3 for the large size) sliced in half and you choose your ingredients. Choices include red onion, tomato, cilantro, garlic, salt, lime and red pepper. At $7.50 for a small with one avocado, you're paying to watch but you won't get any fresher guacamole and it is absolutely delicious. The complimentary cornbread comes with a creamy bourbon maple butter that I could have eaten by itself. The cornbread was okay...not as moist as expected. The butter really rocked it though. The Harper House Salad can be ordered with a protein option. I chose the ahi tuna which was perfectly seared on the outside and crusted with black and white sesame seeds on both the top and bottom. The salad includes a house made bacon dressing which I forgot to order on the side since I don't eat bacon. It's probably tasty if you do like bacon. The dried cranberries were actually plump and juicy, not dried-up like raisins. A little more sweet than tart. The diced, crunchy green apples added a nice bit of tartness. The pecans are seasoned in house and I would have preferred a few more half pecans instead of mostly crumbs but overall the salad was very good with a generous portion of tuna. The ribeye was delicious and included a dollop of garlic butter on top. It was mouthwatering. The green beans were drowned under an overly zealous soy sauce application which made them too salty for my liking. The house made applesauce was creamy and slightly tart-sweet...delicious. Almost a dessert on its own. Warm, cozy ambiance and romantic lighting. There are a few televisions in the bar area and a banquet area upstairs. HH is a great little local restaurant with delicious food and great service. read more

After having dinner here with a friend I knew that I had to bring my girlfriend the first chance I got. That fell over the holidays and thought that would be the perfect opportunity to do so. Downside, New Years' Eve was a price-fixe menu and their table made guacamole wasn't available. Fortunately, their NYE price-fixe menu was good. Before that, though, Heather our server asked for our drinks. I convinced my gf to go with the Jack Sparrow, instead of the Orange Crush and she was glad I did. She loved the drink with the rum and st. germaine mixed well with the juices and hibiscus flower which, soaked up all the booze. The appetizers, a ravioli with pine nuts was a delicious and the torchon was all right. I could have used a warm knife to spread the torchon onto the truffle toast. The next course I ordered the French Onion soup and my girlfriend got the spinach salad. We ended up switching because it was too much bacon for her but was great for me. For the entree I got the Filet Mignon and I thought the demi glace was a little too strong for the meat but, overall it was a good meal with the potato flan being the standout side but the bacon green beans were also good. My girlfriend got the sea bass which I think was the better choice, so good that it was good days later. The turnover was delicious! I hope that they bring it back soon so you can enjoy it. The cardamom ice cream with the big chunk of pear with the smooth cheese, perfect. My gf's deconstructed tiramisu was interesting, with all the components spread on a plate with the cups holding the chocolate and caramel together were also made out of chocolate itself. Let me start with we just purchased a lake house to be close to our oldest Granddaughter who is a Freshman at Murray State on a Governors scholarship. We split our time between Manhattan, Louisville, Scottsdale and now Cadiz. Harper House is Worth the drive. This place is amazing. The food is fresh and prepared impeccably. Tonight, we celebrated my birthday (wife and I) a week late. RSVP'd a table in the bar for the Piano player. We had the best time. Logan our server was absolutely spot on. And a shout out to the bar manager who brought a small pour of their fresh shrub. A flashback to my past. The Stagg Jr flowed freely. Food and service was the best. As always. The bourbon list rivals those of NYC without the price. So many smiles and waves make you feel like family. This place is a must do..... read more

Fresh unique decor. I think they're still working out a few kinks since they've only been open a few weeks. Service was friendly once we got someone to notice us. Thought we were invisible for about 10 minutes. The drink choices were abundant in all categories including bourbon and wine. The menu also had a great variety although there was no common theme for the type of cuisine they serve. It was all over the board so it made me question"can they really do this Vietnamese dish justice?" I wasn't willing to find out so I chose something basic... Mac n cheese and a salad. Both were excellent! We had a bit of a hick up with the check but management took care of it and apologized. All in all it was a great meal with great service. read more

I made a reservation and when I arrived I was told to sit down and the would seat me when they could. I made a 7pm reservation and got there at 7:10. I didn't get all the food I ordered and have never not been provided with a spoon to be able to eat grits, until tonight. Food and drink was fair, and service fair. They had a singer that was the highlight of the trip, but again I made a reservation so I could see and listen to the singer, as well as eat, and was sat in a small booth just inside the door to the room I was in. The 3rd visit was terrible. Took 50 minutes to get two burgers. Our one burger was ordered medium and after waiting so long it came out beyond well done. Both our buns were hard as rocks. While waiting one of the waitresses promised fresh hot cornbread which never came. Instead the manager brought out a bowl of stale corn nuggets from the restaurant next door. I will at least say the fries were delicious. It doesn't seem the place is managed too well and the kitchen is far to inconsistent for our liking. We won't return. read more

Wow! All I can say is...wow! This restaurant could fit in downtown Nashville or any other big city and would be packed constantly. This is one of the finest dining establishments in Western Kentucky! My wife and I went for the first time for our anniversary and the service was quick, our waiters were prompt and the food was just right. The atmosphere, architecture, and the interior design set the right mood. Not to mention the live piano and silent films make this a truly unique atmosphere. The hardest decision you'll have is trying to decide what to eat, and so far everything on the menu looks amazing. We started off with the Steakhouse Tempura Rolls for the appetizer and it included two different dips based in teriyaki and siriacha. I highly recommend as the dips complemented the rolls perfectly. Next was the herb focaccia bread with an basil olive oil dip and a chimi churri, which is a house special and was very soothing to the taste palette. My main course was the pork chop on a Texas toast with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I cannot begin to describe how well the flavors and seasonings complimented each other. On the other side of the table, my wife was giving rave reviews for her Thai bowl and gave me some shrimp to sample and it was perfect. We finished everything off with the chocolate cake and it hit all the right spots. Needless to say, we will be back again and would recommend this place to anyone. read more
