Each of them were incredibly kind, informative, and very fun to be around. Their coordination of the trip was beyond exceptional. Their knowledge and passion for the area was inspiring. I will absolutely be using Holiday River Expeditions on my next trip! The guides were all very willing to answer any questions I had and were very willing to accommodate needs. Our guides were happy to give facts about the river and were willing to teach us a bit about the canyon geography and wildlife. The first two days are pretty mild, with the last day having some great rapids! The guides made sure we still had a great time on the calm days. You will see some of the most beautiful nature views while the guides row you down the river. All I had to do was set up my tent and sleeping bag at camp, the guides would do the rest. The food was delicious! While you enjoy free time at the beach, each meal was prepared and served by the guides. Having a rain fly was great because it sprinkled a little bit both nights. Water shoes, tennis shoes that will get wet, or sandals with straps is pretty important to have on this trip. Each camp we stopped at had a little hill to go up and down from the beach, which gave elevated view of the beautiful canyon. I am already looking forward to my next river adventure!

This was my sixth trip down the Grand Canyon with Western Rivers, and my husband's eighth trip. Mom…read moreand dad add additional trips to make nine or ten family trips down the Grand Canyon, starting with burro exits in 1981. I guess it's a family thing now to integrate new members with a Canyon trip and test the mettle of the young ones coming up in life. Instead of burro rides, the helicopter ride out of the Canyon is a big thrill to look forward to at the end of the trip. We always travel with Western Rivers as they are meticulously well organized, they put ice in the lemonade and we think they have the very best river guides. It goes without saying that all river guides in the Grand Canyon are extraordinarily awe inspiring, and we marvel at their skill, competence, endurance and expertise. We used to sleep on tarps in the sand; Western is innovative and created comfortable mesh cots that now lift us off the sand. We didn't use the tents, but we do like the chairs. We like that Western has innovative rafts that allow you to ride the snout, face forward on the ice coolers, or relax in the relatively dry comfort of the "chicken coop" in back. Food tastes better outdoors after a day exposed to the elements, and the river guides never fail to exceed expectations with delicious nutritious and well rounded hearty fare. Even the coffee is amazing! The guides have always been great at offering a variety of well paced and well spaced activities, from frolicking in waterfalls, to exploring cultural sites to invigorating hikes after breakfast. We love it when the guides spontaneously break out in song or begin reciting poetry, adding to the beauty, grandeur and magic of any given moment. Don't hesitate for a second to book with this time-tested company, which has now given us three generations of adventure, collective stories and family bonding experiences. If it's on your bucket list, do it now!

My 7-day Grand Canyon rafting trip with Western River Expeditions was truly the trip of a lifetime-…read morethe best vacation I have ever taken. As a solo traveler, I was nervous about joining a group where I didn't know anyone, but those worries disappeared almost immediately. What started as a group of strangers quickly became a river family, and by the end of the trip I felt like I was leaving lifelong friends behind. Our guides, Travis, Newty, Meg, and Evan, were absolutely outstanding. Their knowledge, professionalism, humor, and genuine care for every guest made the experience unforgettable. They worked incredibly hard to ensure we were safe, comfortable, well-fed, and having the best possible time while sharing their passion for the Grand Canyon. The combination of breathtaking scenery, exciting rapids, incredible hikes, and amazing people created memories I will cherish forever. If you're considering a Grand Canyon rafting trip, I cannot recommend Western River Expeditions highly enough. And if I decide to raft another river in the future, there is no question- I will be booking with Western River Expeditions again.

If you have the opportunity to book a trip with CRATE, don't hesitate! Pulling off these trips requires intense knowledge, skill, and coordination, and in all of these ways, CRATE delivered. Good equipment, hearty, plentiful food (and snacks!) and a crew who thoroughly understood the historical, natural, and geological aspects of where we were. This interpretation, intertwined with great river stories, really brought the Canyon to life.

The boatsmen, Walker and Abel, and their capable assistants Pheobe and Matt, guided us with consummate expertise through the many thrilling rapids and on daily hikes of varying lengths, and their knowledge of the local history, geology, archaeology, flora, and fauna, freely shared with us all, was admirable. The food was delicious and plentiful - even for this hardcore vegetarian - and CRATE seamlessly provided for all the logistics, including the rafting and hiking, our helicopter transport from the depths of the canyon, and the flight back toward Las Vegas on smaller prop planes. All in all, CRATE provided an extraordinary experience through a truly extraordinary landscape. A few caveats: this trip does require some physical exertion, as one was expected to help pack and unpack the rafts, as well as set up one's camps (which, in fact, was a great part of the fun and group-experience). Having said that, one of our trip members suffered some unexpected moderate physical limitations throughout the trip, and the crew capably and compassionately assisted him and guided him, without detracting their attentions from the rest of the group. Also, some of the hikes were more rigorous and offered more exposure than necessarily advertised by the crew; however, it was easy enough to avoid any hikes, or portions of hikes, that one felt was beyond one's capacity. All in all, one of the most memorable, awe-inspiring, and eye- and mind-opening trips I've done in my seven decades!
