Model Bakery is a must-visit if you're in Napa! This charming little bakery is famous for its incredible English muffins, but they also offer an amazing selection of fresh baked goods, breads, and sandwiches. The space is small and cozy with limited outdoor seating, and the staff is warm and welcoming. We picked up a baguette to enjoy later and shared a sandwich for lunch--both were absolutely exceptional. It was busy when we visited, but the quality of the food made it well worth the wait. Whether you're grabbing breakfast, lunch, or treats for later, Model Bakery is definitely worth a stop!
The Model Bakery is known for their English muffins, which you can buy in 6 packs or as part of a breakfast sandwich. Lots of bakery options, as well as a coffee bar. You order and par for everything at the bakery counter. I spoke with manager for a few minutes and she was LOVELY, but I didn't think the other staff were particularly engaging. I was impressed by the amount of pepperoni on the pizza, but it was very doughy, for my taste. There is no seating in the bakery itself, but there are picnic tables with umbrellas just outside Street parking is available or in the lot on the other side of the market.
This is worth a stop if you are in the area. Some things will actually run out if you are too late! They are known for English muffins. These come individually at $2.50 or up to packs of 6 for $14. The breakfast sandwich is stuffed! It was pretty good, but it's also $12.50. Raspberry tart - I wish it had custard instead of chocolate. The chocolate was soft, but too much amount-wise for me. I'm getting a sugar high from it right now. Credit card accepted.
I will never shut up about how good their English muffins are, or how their breakfast sausage sandwich is my favorite breakfast sandwich of all time. Also, the cookies. Yes to all the cookies! It's always a pleasure to come here after a long period of not having it, because it feels like I'm having it for the first time again. Model never disappoints!
Here visiting Napa and I'm looking for some good eats around. Who would've known? Oprah's favorite bakery in in town! This gets even weirder: guess what is her baked good of choice? A homemade English muffin. I know. Not a croissant. Not a pain au chocolat. An English muffin. Not Thomas'. Model's own, and you'll get it once you've tried it. Came on a Tuesday morning, and there was a good amount of people eating in the outdoor dining area of the bakery, so that's always a good sign. I ordered the most simple thing on the menu: 1 English Muffin, toasted, with butter and rasberry jam. Simplicity speaks volumes at times. I gotta say: I was setting myself up for dissapointment. But after the first bite, I got it. I get why this is so good. I get why this is Oprah's favorite. It's simplicity makes it stand-out. The pillowy inside with the crusty outside was absolutely remarkable. If you're in Napa, stop by Model Bakery. Don't get the fancy desserts. Get the English Muffin. It's worth it.
Model Bakery was such a lovely stop. I had a smooth and delicious oat milk matcha latte with just a touch of honey--perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. The ham and cheese croissant was wonderfully flaky, buttery, and satisfying. I enjoyed it all outside on a beautiful morning, which made the experience even better. Between the quality of the food and drinks and the relaxed atmosphere, it's an easy place to linger and enjoy the moment. Definitely worth a visit!
When Oprah says, "Go somewhere for the English muffin," you go. And let me tell you, she was not lying! This thing is massive, airy, fluffy, and dangerously easy to inhale. I ordered my egg sandwich without the meat and grabbed a chai to go along with it. The sandwich was solid, and the chai was blah. Next time, though, I am coming prepared with a jelly packet or a little butter because this muffin deserves the full experience. There is no indoor seating, but honestly, it adds to the charm. There are outdoor benches with umbrellas, providing just enough shade to enjoy your food without melting. You order at the counter, and they bring everything out to you, which feels like a little treat in itself. If Oprah is a fan and you still have not been, that is all the sign you need. Go check it out!
We dropped in Sunday around 10:30am. It was busy with people sitting outside but the ordering line wasn't. Seats opened up as people ate and left. We ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches: Croissantwich and breakfast egg muffin sandwich. Both were good. A lot of meat and cheese. They said the wait for the sandwiches were going to be 20 mins but I felt like it was 10-15 mins. Parking is on the street or a small parking lot next to the Fatted Calf. Very casual place for breakfast, pastry, and coffee.
I can't leave town to visit friends without bringing English muffins! This time they're being packed up for a trip to Scotland. YES, a new destination across the pond for our Napa favorite!
Stopped in for breakfast this morning. As long as you know coming in that you're likely to wait 20-30 mins for a sandwich, you won't be too disappointed. It's also not the least expensive breakfast you'll get, but it's really good. It's a popular place, so it's busy, but you'll be happy once you get your food. As you probably already know by now, they're known for their English muffins, and they're honestly like nothing else you've had before. I had the breakfast sausage sandwich, which I've had before, while my wife had the chipotle breakfast sandwich. Mine came on the English muffin, while hers didn't. And she forget to ask for the English muffin, so she was disappointed when she unwrapped it. Oops. I also had a pumpkin muffin, while she had a Pain Au Chocolat. Both were delicious. I'm sure we'll be back again and will definitely remember the English muffins.
Wondering where you can get a good breakfast and a loaf of bread in Napa? Then here is a place for you! Although a line could be quite long due to its popularity, it is totally worth the wait. First, parking. You can park on a street, public parking lot, or, if you plan to enjoy shopping at the Oxbow Public Market, you can park there. Second - menu. It's pretty long and includes the original and seasonal menus, so it takes a while to figure out. Be patient. Third, seating: all seats are outdoors and can get crowded easily during the weekend and peak hours. The good thing about sitting outside is the fresh Napa air and the service, where the server brings your food and drinks so you don't need to wait inside. Everything on their menu is worth trying. So, when in Napa, make sure to visit.
Best English muffin - still got it! I came here in 2011 and had to revisit. Dare I say it is perfect - the muffin simply toasted filled with butter and jam. I came back right before the airport and even paid the exorbitant price for a six-pack of the muffins to go. Also very good was the sausage sandwich, which is made with the English muffin. Recommend the white chocolate cookie as well.
I placed an order online for pickup at the Oxbow location. I ordered a blueberry scone, a buttermilk cranberry scone and a macha drink. Everything was ready really quickly. Once home, I heated the scones up. I liked them both but the blueberry won by a nose.
This place was packed at 10:15 and already ran out of some goodies including plan croissants, which was disappointing. Place is spacious & simple. Outdoor seating was great. We got some coffee & goodies, all pretty good. - latte & cappuccino were both good, not bitter, and came out fast. - banana walnut muffin: very tasty & moist, loved it. - chocolate chip & walnut cookie: really good, chewy & soft. - ruffle mushroom bread pudding: small & odd but very tasty. The place is located next to Gott's and I had no idea. The place is cute, smal and cozy. The worker greeted us as we came through the door and took our order. Hubby and I stopped by to try this place out. He ordered a banana loaf and I got a ginger tumeric chai and a blueberry muffin. Our order came out pretty quickly. I loved my drink! It is the best chai I have had in ages. Would gladly return for this drink again. The pastries were delicious. I can see why these are highly recommended and made Oprah's favorite things sometime ago. These English muffins are lightly crispy on the outside and soft airy on the inside. this place is sooooo cute! when you get there you have to wait in line to place your order and then you wait outside for them to bring you your food and drinks. expect to wait at least 15 minutes if you order a drink, longer if you also get food! i will say the wait is well worth both the food and drinks. today, my family and i ended up getting a banana walnut muffin, two lattes, and the sausage breakfast sandwich. i'm not kidding when i say everything is literally a 10/10. my daughter LOVED the muffin and she is very picky when it comes to muffins. I also tried it and it was really good and moist. me and my husband both really liked our lattes, but i will say if you like your coffee sweet, maybe skip out on it but it was perfect for us! our favorite item was definitely the sausage breakfast sandwich! the home made english muffin with the sauce they put on the sandwich was literally perfection. if you come here, you MUST try the sausage sandwich!! read more
We ordered a drip coffee, a cappuccino and a croissant to go. The croissant was flaky and buttery. The drip coffee was great and my cappuccino was made well. The wait is quite long to get your coffee and food when they're busy which is quite often. It's worth it though. It was cold outside so be sure to bundle up on those winter days because you have to wait outside for your order. They do have picnic tables and places to wait. It's bustling for a reason. It's on Oprah's favorite things every year. Just take all my money, Model Bakery! This time I tried their vegan caramel chocolate bar and my gosh is that worth a drive to Napa! Their breakfast sausage sandwich was devoured by my husband. The blueberry muffin was scarfed up by my toddler. Hand squeezed orange juice, too! Just all of it! A must! The Model Bakery is mentioned in dozens of articles when you look up best stops in Napa. I think it's a worthy stop, but has its kinks. Maybe it's a Napa thing... is there any sense of urgency in this town? After ordering a single breakfast sandwich, a latte, and a cold brew, it took nearly 15 minutes before anything came out. At least it was hot! The breakfast sandwich was good. The English muffin was what truly shined. Obviously this place knows their pastries. I wish I had gotten more of the pastry options, but alas. A reason to go back! The coffees were also good, but there are many good coffee shops in the area. The cold brew was slightly bitter. There is only outdoor seating here so be ready if it's chilly out in the AM! Overall, I think the Model Bakery is great and I look forward to returning one day for more pastry options. The craziest English muffins I've ever had. I would say they are more of a pastry than true bread. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and a pack of English muffins to go. The English muffins are so good. The sandwiches are a little expensive but definitely worth the trip. The iced tea was also great. read more
The absolute best breakfast english muffin sandwich I have ever had. I didn't know english muffins could taste so good. I ate half immediately, then saved the other half for an hour or so later, and it was still just as delicious. There was a line and bit of a wait to receive food, but it was well worth it. If I return to Napa I will definitely be coming back here. read more

The English muffins and breakfast sandwiches are still amazing. The service however was not. The person at the counter got my order wrong and when I said that was the wrong pastry that was being put in the bag she told me no that's what she ordered, when it wasn't. It was too much of a pain with my whole order so I let it go. As I'm waiting outside for my breakfast sandwich I look inside my bag of items and see that I am missing 2 items. I had to go back inside and get the missing items and the staff did not even apologize. I also do like that there were flyers landing on the pastries. The atmosphere is still very relaxed outside so you can sit and enjoy your food. read more

We decided to stop by Model Bakery while spending the day in Napa! At around 10:30 AM on a Sunday, there was already a sizable line outside. We went with the Bearclaw ($5), which was tasty but a little on the dry side. I wish we had sampled more, especially their famous English Muffins or a loaf of sourdough, but we'll save that for next time. Definitely worth a stop for some freshly baked goods! read more

The model bakery is such a cute bakery. It's right around the corner from the public market. I really like the fact that they have a seating area right outside the bakery. The inside is a cute little bakery and as you walk in, everything smells so good that fresh smell of baked goods. We picked up the honey bun and the lemon poppy. Both were really good and I wanted to purchase more baked goods, but I was on my way to lunch. We have to pick up more baked goods next time we're in Napa. The line went pretty quick. Just behind Gott's roadside restaurant, you'll discover these small bakery and charcuterie shops. There are quite a few other boutique and food specialty shops in the area as well. This is a business where you either get it to go, or you dine outside, no seating inside. They have a very extensive list of baked goods and a coffee bar. I got the croissandwich which was well made and a cup a coffee. The only things I noticed that were disappointing were their small muffins for $4.25 and some of the pastries had coarse sugar dumped all over them. Unfortunately, the medium roast coffee I had was substandard like cheap hotel coffee. I would be remiss if I didn't also point out the other breakfast opportunities just around the corner (and better coffee) in the Oxbow market such as Loveski deli. I found this spot on TikTok while looking for brunch ideas in Napa, and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely amazing. We got their sausage and egg sandwich and "model" wrap, which came on a spinach tortilla. Both were incredible, and the breakfast sandwich was on a homemade English muffin -- honestly, I'll probably be dreaming about it for months because it was that good. You order inside, and they bring your food out. The seating is all outside in a cute little area in downtown Napa. Parking can be a bit tricky, but the food is well worth it. read more

I went here with my friend who highly recommended because apparently it was on "Oprah's favorite list". We gave it a shot and loved it! I got a Sausage sandwich I think that's the name and omg! 3.5 for us for this location. We tried the St. Helena location the day prior and felt like the croissant-which (with added avocado for me) was done better the previous day. My friend had the mushroom lovers sandwich which was pretty good but I do think the croissant-which was better. We also tried the chocolate chip walnut cookies which were decent and the ginger molasses cookies which were very good. I think next time I would get a plain chocolate chip instead which our whole group agreed with. Overall good breakfast for the Napa valley area, but definitely plan on waiting 25-30+ minutes for your food read more

Do you know if the English muffins can be frozen?
I would think yes! I would recommend cutting them in half and freezing them.
Do they have any vegan baked goods yet?
I was just there last weekend to buy baguettes, I didn't see anything vegan. Bakeries aren't the best places for vegan anything. Whole Foods has vegan baked goods. Maybe even Trader Joe's. Good luck!
