    Ooh cheesecakes
    Rachel M.

Yummy bakery in downtown Napa! Very homey and cozy in a convenient plaza with free parking and the perfect place for sweets after a meal in one of the nearby restaurants. The display cases house delicious pies, cheesecakes, cakes in a variety of sizes (individual to 6-8 servings) and flavors (lemon blueberry, dulce de leche, etc). There are also cookies, pastries, bars, brownies. For Mother's Day I got a 6 inch 3 layer chocolate mousse cake and large s'mores tart - both were decadent, rich and highly acclaimed by my family. The service was friendly but a bit curt since it was busy. Brownie points for allowing them to store my cakes in their fridge while I had lunch with my family.

    Lemon Meringue Pie
    Scott H.

There are desserts, and then there are moments, this was decidedly the latter. At our pre-Easter family gathering, a lemon crème meringue pie took center stage and delivered something truly memorable. The meringue rose like a delicate cloud, lightly sweet, airy, and beautifully toasted, each bite dissolving with just enough structure to remind you of its craft. Beneath it, the lemon filling struck that elusive balance: bright and vibrant, yet luxuriously smooth, with a decadence that never crossed into excess. It danced perfectly between tart citrus and gentle sweetness, leaving you reaching back for another forkful before you even realized it. The crust, often an afterthought in lesser pies, was executed with precision, thin, crisp, and just sturdy enough to support the layers without competing for attention. It framed the experience rather than distracting from it. Yes, it leaned toward the higher end in price, but this was not simply dessert, it was an experience worth every dollar. The table fell quiet in that rare, collective appreciation, followed by the inevitable chorus of "Where did you get this?" A showstopper in every sense, elevated, indulgent, and unforgettable.

    Chocolate Whoopie

It has been a while since I've gotten a whoopie pie. I got a chocolate and red velvet one. I first got one of these in the early 2010s, when I entered one of their, from what I remember, coloring contests and haven't had one since then. Trying one of these now, I can confidently say that even though these are more expensive (darn inflation!) they are still just as delicious and worth a treat every now and then. Have definitely missed these.

    Outside, Thanksgiving pies secured

This review is mainly in regards to their pies. My brother requested I get pies from Sweetie Pies for Thanksgiving this year and luckily I called the last day to order pies for Thanksgiving which was the week before. They are open half day on Thanksgiving so I opted to pick up the day before to not get stuck in traffic. I easily called and asked what their most popular pies were and they said pumpkin and apple pie so I had to get both. It came out to about $80. They have individual pies there from what's ever out so I wanted to try their Pear Berry Pie so I got an individual and there are nuts in it. Their pumpkin pie was nice and creamy and should be refrigerated. Their Apple Pie was very tangy and goes well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream! The crumble top was also SO good! Their fruit pies can be kept at room temperature. I enjoyed the individual ($13) Pear Berry pie, nice and tart and with the nuts was a perfect touch, still big enough to share! There's a little parking lot located around the Napa River Inn Front area, there's also street parking, and a parking garage on the corner. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, people were getting breakfast, coffee, and pastries too. A nice little spot to have breakfast or brunch if you're in Napa. Cute little spot.

    The best apple pie EVER!

Best Dutch apple pies in the area & some fun baked goods for sure, but definitely some of THE worst counter help in the area the past couple years. My husband and I come in here about once a month for coffee and a quick bite. Doesn't matter who is at the counter (male or female) we always have lackluster (depressed, irritated, unengaged) counter help. Of course, then they expect you to tip them 15 to 25%: For what(?) putting something in a bag and handing it to me with a coffee cup (to get my own) & a crappy attitude? Give me a break. It's sad when some of these once-amazing small businesses with high owner engagement at the counter, no longer have the owner engaged at all.

    Key Lime Pie

Great selection of decadent whole and sliced pies. The staff there is friendly, the decor cute, and the portions more than fair. It took a lot of restraint to not eat the whole slice of Key Lime pie!

    Traditional Birthday Cake
    Jim H.

I ordered a cake from here to celebrate Mother's Day and my mom's birthday (a couple of days apart). They were very friendly and helpful when I ordered the week before. They took the time to help me choose the best size for the number of people we were serving to, and were very accommodating with my pickup time because I was traveling in, and you just never know. The cake itself was perfectly decorated and the flavors were all great. The frosting is supposed to be vanilla bean flavored and while we didn't get vanilla bean, it tasted good and certainly not too sweet. I would definitely recommend your cake needs being met at Sweetie Pies!

We tried the banana cream pie and it was delicious! Not too sweet and good proportion of whipped cream to pie

Chicken bacon lettuce tomato cheese sandwich on toasted sour dough bread

Had the Tomato Bisque soup & half sandwich (toasted sour dough, ranch dressing, lettuce, tomato & chicken) It was delightful, something light & refreshing. My 2nd time here. Will be back real soon. YUM

You get a menu and order at the counter, and despite the long line, that gave us enough time to pick what we wanted to eat. Once we got the counter, there were fresh bakery donuts, and pastry options so got of course adding a sweet treat to share. They give you an order number, and you then go find a table and they will bring you it. If you ordered a drink after the check out counter you can grab your drink. Here's what we ordered for the 3 of us which was plenty! Superfood bowl $15 (5/5) This was super refreshing. The mix of the cut up, strawberries, apples, blueberries, nuts, coconut flakes, chia, and dried fruits over yogurt and passionfruit honey. I mean that tasted SUPER and wayyy delicious medley together. Pork Belly Loco Moco $22 (5/5) OMG get this! And don't forget to upgrade to garlic rice ($2 more) and add you can add avocado ($4 if you want lil pricey butttt just do it since you are trying to balance out the healthy in this dish). Braised soft pork belly pieces, with 2 runny eggs and fried rice and mix it all up together. Monkey Bread $7 (4/5) Yes, this is what we saw on the counter. Me being a fatty stopped myself from getting extra donuts but maybe next time. You can pull apart the pieces to share. The top had a nice chocolate topping and inside was chewy sweetness. Fresh OJ $8 (4/5) Fresh, so like freshly squeeze thus the high price. Good for you. Large Coffee with 4 shots Americano $5.50 (4/5) Can go wrong with a wake me up coffeeeeeeeeeee Would definitely come back to try the other dishes when were in town.

We also ordered one of the dark Mexican lagers, which they brew themselves, which was really delicious. We also ordered churro donut holes, Concha stuffed with Arroz con leche and another with Guava. Everything was delicious. The restaurant itself is located in the older adobe in Napa and so it is rich with history and Mexican California beauty. Everyone is warm, helpful, welcoming, and the food comes out quickly! Please visit this family owned, wonderful restaurant.

My wife and I were in Napa 2 weeks ago and heard about this restaurant from Check Please Bay Area television program. The lines were long both times we visited, but we knew about this before going. This is the oldest building in Napa and limited in size. The parking lot is also limited so allow for extra time in case you have to park further away and walk. On our first trip we had the special tacos of the day, side of beans, and the flan french toast. Wife had the mimosa flight and I had the beer flight. The food was excellent. We could not stop raving about the food to one another. The rice and beans alone would have compelled us to visit again (and they did, unfortunately). The tacos were flavorful and juicy. We had no negative notes for the flan french toast. My wife enjoyed the mimosa flight, but would have liked the mango mimosa in the flight to have had a little less juice. I enjoyed my beer flight as well. I was curious about their in house beers and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them. Fast forward 2 weeks. My wife and I had another planned trip to Napa and we made it a point to build time in the schedule to revisit La Cheve. We arrived about the same time in the day as our first visit (2 pm) and waited patiently in line. We ordered the steak tacos, rice and beans (of course) and the guacamole, because it must be out of this world like everything that they make there. Wife ordered the beermosa and I had their in house American Dream beer. The steak in the tacos were very flavorful but nothing out of the ordinary. The rice and beans did not taste as good as the first time. We talked about how good the rice was the first time and how we could just eat the rice without anything else. This time around, not so much. The rice and beans lacked flavor. Oh and the poor guacamole. The only flavor there was lime. The guacamole was over limed with chunks of onion, tomato and was in dire need of salt. My wife took one bite and refused to go back to it. The drinks were fine. In the end, the flavor of the food went from a solid 5 stars to a 0. I gave a 2 star rating because of the downward trend versus 3 stars given the 2.5 star average. Overall, I'm not sure if the 5 star experience or the 0 star visit was the anomaly. It's a significant price to pay to find out given the 30+ minutes waiting in line, the limited parking and a lost meal opportunity in Napa where there are many excellent dining options.

The latte was really good, the punchy cardamom (which I love) and the vanilla are a great combo, which is probably not for those who don't like to taste the spice, it is very spice forward. The Tostada Rancheros con Carnitas was also pretty good with savory and small sweet notes throughout, I just felt it was missing some depth; but for how quickly it arrived and how fresh it was, it was good. The ambiance is great, comfortable with a nuetral-toned landscape and a vinyl record player going I felt welcome right away. My table was wobbly despite the feet being flat as the tabletop itself seemed to be loose which made it a bit challenging to cut and eat my food without fear of my plate or latte accidentally tipping over.
