The veggie sandwich (avocado-crunch sando) was packed with flavor and the veggies tasted so fresh and crisp. The side of fries was the best I have ever had. The huevo mix grill was super flavorful. We both agreed it was a 10/10. ------PRICE------ Prices were fair for the portion sizes and how fresh everything was. WOULD I COME BACK? Yes! I was really looking forward to this spot based on all the high reviews, but it ended up being pretty underwhelming for our first meal in Napa. The restaurant has a counter-service setup where you order first and then find a table, but the layout is a bit tough. There isn't really any free space to stand and review the menu before getting in line without completely blocking the way. I ended up ordering an almond croissant and the loaded chorizo potatoes. I was so excited for the potatoes since it combines three of my favorite things: potatoes, hollandaise, and chorizo. Unfortunately, the taste just didn't live up to the presentation. The chorizo tasted nothing like traditional chorizo, almost like a completely different meat. The dish was heavily doused in sauce that it totally overpowered the flavor. I didn't even manage to eat half of the serving. The saving grace was definitely the almond croissant, which was delicious. It was perfectly buttery yet crispy, and topped with just the right amount of almonds and chocolate. Overall, I think the main breakfast dishes are worth skipping. I don't think I would return here for a meal, but if I had to come back, I would strictly stick to their pastries. read more

Excellent brunch spot on a Saturday morning! We had a very pleasant dining experience at Winston's Cafe & Bakery. Grab a menu and stand in line. They will take your order at the counter where you will pay for your meal. If you order coffee, they will call your name from the coffee counter to your left. Find a table, and they will bring your food to you. It was pretty crowded when we went. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Thankfully, we found a table for a party of 5 quickly. My husbands job used to have him eating all over NorCal, taking his employees out for a nice meal, and I was so jealous he was always out trying new food spots without me! Knowing I would be upset if he didn't at least bring me some sort of bagel from a breakfast place, my husband brought me home a breakfast sandwich from Winston's. I thought, this bagel is delightful, and I intentionally made a trip just to try more of their food. Napa is quite a drive from where I live but it was worth all the traffic! This place is a little packed, probably because it's so good, but is a typical diner vibe once you're in there, without all the checkered tiles of course. So glad we found this spot in Napa! We got here on a Sunday around 10am and thankfully beat the crowd, as this place gets super busy on the weekends! You place your order at the register first then find a place to sit. We got the classic drip coffee (can never go wrong). I ordered the Breakfast Don with spam and garlic rice, and it did not disappoint! I would come back again just to get that. Easy 10/10 for me. My partner got the lox with everything bagel and devoured it in less than 10 mins. The girl at the register recommended the vanilla donut (said it was the most popular). Up in Napa for the weekend and needed a pick me up before heading back down to So Cal and came to Winston's off the recommendations and great reviews. I ordered an Americano which was good! The winner of the show was that cinnamon pecan sticky bun... ALL of the pastries looked delicious but if you want a perfect sweet and sticky pairing with your morning coffee that bun is the way to go... The Mrs ordered a seasonal refresher which had watermelon coconut and chia and she loved it! Perfect for the summertime. Paired it with a bagel. The vibe in there was very laid back and service attentive, lately i've been a fan of ordering first and finding seating later, feels quicker and more efficient imo and you're not waiting for a server to come back and feeling like you need them for every little thing. Love this cute cafe! Came on a Sunday brunch with the girls. You order first before you get seated down. They have a lot of menu items whether your wanting a quick bite, or a full breakfast. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and if was huge! I cut if in half and saved the other for to go. They have some asian inspired dishes like the pork belly loco moco which smelled and looked delicious. The workers were really nice in splitting the dish in half portions as my two of my friends were sharing. Everything tasted really fresh! They have a parking lot on the side and some street parking. This place was lovely. The lady taking orders when we came in was a little dry but I understand. The people in front of us were literally impossible. You order up front and your food is brought out with the number on the table. I ordered the lox bagel and green tea. Delicious. They steam the honey for your tea which makes it so much easier to work with. My husband had the French toast and potatoes with the macchiato. Y'all know he was expecting the macchiato to look like the one from that major chain. Apparently that made that up and it's not a traditional macchiato. Who knew. The fruit with his French toast was super fresh. Being from the St Louis Metro we don't really get fruit that fresh. So it was a treat. The chocolate croissant was a gift because we had a delay in our food being brought out. It was nice and flaky. Very delicious. A family came in for a little kid's birthday. It was quick. Winston's holds a special place in that it has one of my favorite breakfast plates of any breakfast place I've been too. This very popular counter service cafe is very popular for good reason. The food is amazing. I am so happy to we chose to go here while visiting Napa for a few days. It's worth visiting Napa just to go to Winston's in my humble opinion. The waits can be long to get in and order and maybe even long to get a table, but it's worth it. Also, this place is a great community establishment and helps out the local pet shelter to help find homes for dogs. They even have coloring pages with crayons of adoptable dogs at the Napa shelter. My wife and I ordered two breakfast places and two pastries on our visit. The salmon salad plate was our healthy plate, which was really tasty and fresh. The true standout for me is their pork Belly Loco Moco. I never seem to love a loco moco plate, but I like them. They are typically served with a beef patty. Let me just say that this is a perfect plate of food. The pork belly melts in your mouth and has a delicious hoisin sauce drizzled on it. The eggs and pickled veggies god great with the pork belly, but there is also this wonderful gravy on the plate which is like a chicken gravy. It's so ridiculously good. I can't say enough good things about this plate and how much it works together in balance and harmony. We also tried their toasted Coconut donut, which is a glazed yeast donut with toasted coconut flakes. It was very good! But the dessert standout was the chocolate pistachio muffin. This was so moist, buttery and rich with chocolate and nuttiness. So delicious! I also want to add that I love the ambiance of Winston's and its lovely decor. Since we had guests, I did not want to lecture her, lol. Decent quantity, perfect for one person, perfect for a medium eater. Pork Belly Loco Moco - Two orders of this. It looked great and according to our guest, it tasted as good as it looked. Too bad I am cutting back on bacon... Chicken and Waffles - 3 chicken strips on top of a waffle. It was quite a lot of food, but this went to our youngest and biggest eater. He was able to finish it with no problems. On a side note, I think it is time to change your fryer oil. Special - Mushroom omelette. As light eaters, my wife and I shared this. Overall, very good and healthy. We especially enjoyed the extra crisp potatoes. But just like the chicken strips, I thought the oil needed to be changed. And to wash it down: Latte. Chai Latte with Oat milk for $1 more. Both were good. Oh, I really really wanted a donut, but NO one would split one with me... Ambiance - Fairly small place, well maybe it seemed and felt small because they were so busy, congrats. This is a great spot to grab a quick bite for breakfast/ lunch! All the food was delicious and tased like they used to really fresh ingredients. The coffee was also really good! Over all really enjoyed our breakfast here and we will be back if we are in town again! Highly recommend trying one of their pastries as well, they are hard to pass up. We visited the day after Christmas around 1:45pm and they were kind in serving us even though it was 15 minutes before closing - I feel so lucky we made it in time! At that point, the baked goods were mostly gone but we got to try the Chocolate Pave and it was SO GOOD that I got back in line to buy another one to bring home. They said it's a daily item and gluten free! So moist and delicious with chocolate ganache, topped with pistachios and maldon salt (perfection) We had the pork belly loco moco and lox bagel and both were delicious! I like this place...the local town quiant hipster welcoming cafe with super tasty bakery treats. Meal of choice while visiting that day was Winston's version of Loco Moco with Pork Belly. My mom had thier breakfast Enchiladas. I believe my plate was better but she's not very adventurous when it comes to food. Service was ok, most of the people working didnt smile expect for the front counter lady, but even she didnt look like she wanted to be there. Come o people...you gotta fake it till you make it sometimes!! Cafe dinning area was roomy with plenty of seating. There was a high bar to sit at in the middle of the room to give you a good view of the indoor and outdoor space. Gender neutral restroom if that knowledge floats your boat and family friendly. Came here during breakfast time on a Sunday and it was packed! This is a cute little cafe near downtown. It's an order first, and find a seat type restaurant, so just keep that in mind when you see the long line of people waiting outside of the door. Luckily, my husband and I were able to secure a table after we placed our order. What we got: Breakfast Don (3.5/5) - This was basically a spam rice bowl topped with a poached egg, kimchi, avocado, and assorted veg. This with was yummy, but for $18, I could definitely make this at home. Probably would get something else if I came back here. Breakfast Sandwich with Bacon (4/5) - My husband will order this same type of simple breakfast every time. Nothing special in my eyes, but he loved it! Lol. Iced Vanilla Latte (5/5) - Idk what it was that morning, but this coffee hit the spot! Sweetened to perfection, creamy, and the espresso nice and balanced. It was soooo good! Iced Cherry Vanilla Latte (5/5) - Again, not sure if they make their own syrups, but their coffee drinks were so solid. My husband ordered their seasonal cherry flavor and added vanilla. I took a sip and loved it too. Assorted donuts (4/5) - Their donuts were such a delicious sweet end to our breakfast! We got one maple and one apple. So, so yummy! Would definitely come back just for their donuts. This bakery and cafe has such a cute vibe to it, and would be a great place to take friends or family who are visiting. This place was recommended to us by a friend who frequents Napa often. The food was so damn good. When you walk up to the restaurant, there's a line out the door. You wait in line to order your food and then go find a seat. We found a spot outside and the sun was shining bright, making it a perfect day to be outside. The chorizo was flavorful, just the right amount of spice. My chorizo enchiladas were topped with eggs, I chose scrambled. They were fluffy and delicious. My partner had an omelette and said there same about his eggs. We also shared a chocolate chip cookie, because they are made fresh as this place is a bakery! They were out of breakfast potatoes, so I got the French fries and he got a bagel, which was very good because it was also made fresh that day. I can't wait to come back to Winston's! I used to visit this location when it was under the name of a different bakery. To my surprise, this bakery replaced the old one! I'm not sure if they are related at all, but that is neither here nor there. In order to have a seat to dine in, you have to first complete your order at the window and get a number. I think this probably ensures people are not hoarding or taking over tables unnecessarily. I did not mind this at all. My mom and I shared the lox bagel with the garlic bagel being our choice, the power bowl, two scrambled eggs on the side, and a birthday cake donut. That birthday cake donut is one of the best donuts I've had in a very long time! It is more dense than a traditional donut, but not cakey in the way that an old-fashioned donut or cake donut can be. Just take my advice and make sure you at least buy a donut to go! When it comes to a toasted bagel, next time I will choose a different bagel other than the garlic. While the bagel itself was chewy and fresh, when toasted, the garlic became burnt and bitter which affected the flavor of the actual dish. The power bowl was a very hearty and refreshing dish. It had Chia seeds, dried fruit, toasted coconut, mixed fruit, and had the consistency of a thick overnight oats base. I've just discovered that they have a special menu on I think Friday and Saturday nights called Winston's Wok and I can't wait to come back to try that. But in the meantime, if I am there during the day, I am definitely picking up a donut to go! read more

This place is so cute and being that it is a two minute walk from my house I have given them more chances than I should have. I am giving three stars because it is cute, convenient and everyone there has been really cheerful and happy to answer questions! The reason this isn't 5 stars is simple. They burn their bagels. I'm not talking one time I went and it was a little darker than I prefer... no. I'm talking like every single time I step foot in there I leave with a piece of charcoal. It's gross. I thought maybe it was a mistake when they were new and figuring stuff out so I tried again. Unfortunately I got the same results and about once every few months when I'm out of bagels at home I try again and it's always the same thing. It is so disappointing because I can tell that pre becoming a charcoal frisbee it was made with love and has potential to be delicious. I have tried other things from them and nothing has stuck out as amazing especially for the price. I am sure I will try them again and maybe eventually I won't get served a hockey puck and then I can give them the review I so desperately want to be able to! The monkey bread is a must-try especially if you like a savory & sweet treat. Amazingly flaky and crispy pastry pieces (they're like fully laminated bite-size croissant squares) with chopped sweetened bacon. I also enjoyed the almond croissant; no skimping on the scrumptious almond paste filling! The donuts in particular here are quite special: they're the dense style but have such a unique hearty bite to them.....like the chewiness factor is like a cross between a mochi donut and a pretzel LOL I dunno how else to explain it!! Either way, I'd say highly recommend trying one unless you're strictly a fluffy-pillow-soft-donut loyalist. I specifically tried the toasted coconut donut and the vanilla donut and they're both packed with flavor. As for an actual meal, I had the Denver steak hash, a seasonal special at the time. Stopped by Winston's Bakery & Cafe and absolutely loved it. I ordered the Bodega bagel sandwich and modified it by replacing the bacon with ham; there was no extra charge, which was a pleasant surprise. The sandwich was so good, but the real star was the scallion cream cheese... I'm genuinely still thinking about it. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. Every plate the staff brought to other tables had me wishing I could try everything on the menu. I couldn't leave without something sweet, so I grabbed a glazed twist pastry, which was also delicious. I also ordered a brown sugar iced latte. It was good, but not something I'd need to order again; definitely the food shines more than the drinks here. Overall, the food was incredible, the vibes were great, and it's absolutely a spot worth visiting, especially if you love bagels and baked goods. Our table wasn't properly cleared , some dishes were removed before our food arrived, but the remaining ones weren't taken away until after, and the table was never wiped down between. As for the food, I'd give it a 3/5. The chorizo in my omelet was overly salty, not in a seasoned way, but genuinely too much to enjoy.
