Such a cute spot for dinner and drinks! We recently just came here this weekend on a whim because we wanted to go somewhere not so crowded...but would still provide us with an upscale downtown Orlando experience and The Moderne did not disappoint! This spot is located right in a strip mall on East Colonial close to Mills. Parking is pretty easy to find as there is a parking lot in the back and street parking within the surrounding area. Upon entering, we were greeted immediately by the hostess and were seated on the patio. Our server was soo kind and attentive, even taking the time to have conversations with us and crack some jokes. For my drink, I ordered the Espresso Martini which was very tasty and not too sweet, which I definitely prefer. For the food, we got the Korean Fried Chicken and the Mushroom Bibimbop. The Korean Fried Chicken had such an amazing crunch to them and was seasoned perfectly! The Mushroom Bibimbop was phenomenal as well, it came out PIPING HOT in a stone bowl... I ate every last bit of it! Overall, I would have to say that The Moderne is a great place for some type of quaint celebration or date night! The ambiance is very romantic and elegant. Took my girlfriend here on a date and it was an awesome experience. Choosing from the variety of small plates under different categories we decided on the krab Rangoon appetizer to start. The bread was light and fluffy and the filling was perfect. Next up was the lamb rack, it was tender and the presentation was beautiful. Our main entre was the miso cream noodle and the consistency was great along with the slight crunch of the mushrooms added in. We ended the meal with the yuzu desert which was a delightful balance of tart citrus and the texture from the biscoff completed it. My husband and I recently dined here before catching a show at Dr. Phillips Center for the performing arts. We made a reservation online at OpenTable. I recommend you do this, especially if you are a group, because most of the tables here are designed for two. We were able to find street parking out front, but there's also a parking lot available behind. We checked in at the host stand and were promptly seated. The vibe of this place is very cool. It definitely looks like a French brassiere. I started with a seasonal cocktail. It was called the pink pony fizz. The color was absolutely stunning, and the taste was excellent. For food, we shared several items. Everything is tapas portions. We had the pork Gyoza, a beef skewer, the salmon, the duck, and fried rice. I was very happy with the beef skewer and the fried rice. I would absolutely order both of those again if I were to return. My husband was very pleased with the salmon and the duck. The gyoza were fine. They weren't special and we both agreed we would not order these again. Service was OK. It seemed our server had the entire wall of tables which would be about 10 tables. So a couple times we asked for things and she forgot them or we waited for a while to order. This is maybe my fourth or fifth time at The Moderne, and I have yet to be disappointed. The ambiance is perfect, the music is always on point, and it's just a great spot for date night or a girls' night out. And every server I've had has been nice and welcoming. Every dish I've had thus far has been amazing. From the fish bao to the mushroom bibimbap. No complaints whatsoever, and would order it all again. Also went for happy hour, for which they offer $2 off select dishes and tapas, and $8 specialty drinks. Beautiful ambiance that's thankfully paired with high quality food and cocktails. We enjoyed the Duck Wontons, Sushi Stack, Pork Gyoza, and KFC. Also tried the Pink Fizz drink that was delicious. The only complaint with the KFC was that it was garnished with some stringy purple thing that was awful and ruined the texture of the chicken. The moderne has one of the best menus in Orlando. It's one of those places similar where you need a reservation. Hands down the beef bulgogi is the best thing to order. For apps I recommend the tuna kobachi if you like raw fish, the bao buns, the crab Rangoon milk bread, the sticky ribs, and the pasta. 10s across the board from the drinks to the attention to detail in the food. The service can sometimes be a little slow but there are usually a bunch of people there so please be kind to the waiters. Drink wise, the woman in white is the best drink and it comes with a cute bubble, or the waltzing drink. So so yummy, I will say that since it is on mills, parking is mostly in the street. One of the best happy hour spots in town! Drinks and food options are stellar. I have been here a few times and am surprised I haven't left a review... The ambience is nice/moderne, great vibe for catching up with friends or date night. I recommend making a reservation since it does get busy even on weekdays. The drinks are A MUST, if you arent feeling any of the signature drinks you can always ask the bartender if they have any suggestions. Few times Ive gone I mention what ingredients I like and they get creative with making me a drink that taste delicious. Saved the best for last...THE FOOD is phenomenal. My partner and I went to the moderne for a date night on a whim. We were looking for a nice restaurant/bar and I had remembered seeing them in my feed. We didn't know much about the place and figured we'd get some food with our drinks and just enjoy the night. To say we were shocked was an understatement. I usually don't expect anything crazy when I get food at a bar, but these dishes were incredible. Everything was so delicious and the restaurant was such a comfortable atmosphere. They staff were really quick about clearing the tables to make room for arriving people. It was completely packed when we went, and now I understand why! The Rangoon dip was so delicious I actually make it at home all the time now (but I add imitation crab). The drinks were amazing as well. 2 years ago, my brother and his wife introduced my wife and I to this cool little spot in Orlando. Central Florida has been getting some great places of diverse and influential eateries for the past several years. This tapas-style restaurant should be included on this list. Honestly every time I come here I do my best to get different items but I have tried so many tasty dishes! The Moderne! The first of it's kind in Orlando that in my mind blended the best of Tori Tori and Domu! Why do I say this? Well, to me, they took some of the best of each and blended them together to create a upper scale neighborhood eatery that truly walks the line between a restaurant that tries to be a bar or a bar that tries to be a restaurant. For those that know, they have a monthly cocktail list that changes with new concepts that are voted on and created by the bartenders and employees to create a spotlight of several drinks that make it for the month. Tonight my guest and I tried each and everyone. Shown below are two of our favorites which were the Don't Bully Me and The In Mint Condition. Both had consistent and balance flavor profiles that carry through the drink and created a certain vibe in flavor that was enjoyable. Repaired these drinks and the other ones we had with several food items, including the Kushiyaki of chicken, beef, A5 wagyu. All were done well, however I felt they should have been a little more crispy as traditionally, it's cooked closer to the charcoal. All in all, a good experience. Donny was out server tonight and he did a great job making the delicious cocktails and taking our order as we needed it. Many thanks to him and the team that served us this evening. I had been wanting to try this place since it opened. I heard so much about it. I came for a friend's birthday and I had an overall good time but felt the food was a little less than what I expected. The decor is lovely and very aesthetically pleasing for photos (which I failed to take because I was carrying on with my friends) I loves the bench style seats at the tables and was very comfortable. There's also a good amount of parking in the back of the restaurant. Now the food, the Rangoon dip wasn't at all reminiscent of crab Rangoon. It was a fondue like dip instead of a more cream cheesy like I had hoped for. The crab and shrimp gyoza looked delicious and by appearance of the seared side, I expected it to be crispy, instead it was soft which disappointed me. The flavor was pretty good tho. The cucumber salad and the chicken skewers were both lacking in any flavor at all. Both were sadly quite bland. The drinks were absolutely fantastic, their specialty drinks were very creative and offered an experience with each one. I came in for their late night happy hour which begins at 10PM and I will say the late night food quality is spectacular. I had the Creamy Miso Noodles and they were creamy, hot and delicious. It comes with 2 pieces of pork on the side which are also salty, savory, and tasty. I ordered a watermelon tequila drink which I thought I would enjoy more but it tasted smoked. I was greeeted quickly and given a water but it took sometime to get a drink order in. Menus are digital so be sure to scan. I ordered the unsuitable for waltzing it was good but not as sweet as I thought it would be. The snowball in the middle is a fun part of the drink and definitely keeps it cold. I also got the crab Rangoon dip, this was definitely yummy I thought it was going to be hotter when it arrived but it was just warm but yummy nonetheless. I also ordered one chicken skewer because it is some small bites available there and that was super yummy and delicious and it was the right amount of food for me by myself.
