I have a dust mite allergy and had a pretty bad reaction staying here! Bring your Zyrtec

Stain and mold on the ceiling
    Gina H.

Pro: None. Con: Mold on the bathroom ceiling. The wall is so thin, not only you can hear the flush or shower from the other rooms, you can hear their fart, and the sound of the poop dropping. When people shower, it's so loud, it literally feels like you're in the same room as them. The soap is so thin, it broke apart. You would think they'll give you more if you have 4 guests. The towels have the smell like when you've left them in the closet for a very long time. It has the texture of something you haven't use in a very long time. The water pressure from the shower head is minimal. The iron is actually located under the sink. Why is it under the sink. And there's no ironing board. The breakfast is free because there was no breakfast!!! Same goes for the Wi-Fi. THE FRONT DESK IS CLOSE FROM 10pm-6AM.. There's nobody to complain to about the noise from the other guest. I'm staying on the first floor, I had to go to 2nd floor to request the guest to tell their children to stop jumping. Even after the father apologized, The noise continued until morning. Outside it looks pretty, but inside is garbage. The service is garbage, and structure is garbage. The internet is garbage. 90% is cannot connect and 10% wifi connection status is at 14% Even just depending on your mobile data requires you to step outside the street to get a connection. See below for all the pictures I've taken. The wifi is disable after 10pm. Nobody can connect, I've confirmed this with other guests. No way to call the front desk, obviously since not a single employee is here. The next morning, there's not a single employee in the whole building. The sign closed 10pm-6amon the front desk is still there untouched. Every guest was expecting for breakfast and nothing is available. The place is deserted. I had to call Hotel.com and they had to contact the owner directly!! And I was informed that he is coming to the Inn immediately. Hotels.com gave me a compensation in a form of a coupon. Wtf.. What am I going to do with a coupon when in fact I am not planning to stay in the this place again. We've waited for another hour and owner nor any employee including manager, receptionist or a single house keeper has come to work. I don't want to waste my time any longer, so I went to Yosemite and will speak to the owner when I come back. After speaking with the booking company, I have informed other frustrated guest to do same thing as well. This company should get shut down or at least severely penalized for violation codes of leaving thr facility unattended, unsafe operations and mistreatment of all guests. We came back at 7pm and the same sign 10pm-6am is still there. LAUGHABLE on how this city was able to give this establishment permission to operate. Talked to Roger, who is the manager of the Inn, - before my check out. And point out all the things that I mentioned above. I asked him why the wifi was disabled and his response was "we guarantee our internet is working" . Which I response that has nothing to do with anything because disabling the Wi-Fi means someone manually have to go in the router address and disabled the Wi-Fi option inside the hub. He claims that he has over 10 years experience working in a hotel, yet he has no knowledge of the rules and regulations of how to operate it. and he tried to associate something with me by saying he lives in San Francisco?! which is bags of doodoo because why would you live in San Francisco and drive 4 hours to Mariposa to work for a hotel when San Francisco has a higher wage than any other city outside of San Francisco County, not to mention commute time. that alone is a lie. Do not come here and if you are a previous guest of this place. I would recommend to go to Mariposa County website and report them to the city council for malicious behavior.

Mostly unremarkable. Comfortable and adequate rooms. Wouldn't stay more than 1 night and there's better choices in town that this place.

After booking our stay this time, we called with a few questions and were given helpful information from a couple friendly receptionists. Once we arrived, check-in was quick, and much appreciated since we were exhausted from hiking all day in Yosemite. We hadn't been to The Miner's Inn for over 10 years and we were pleasantly surprised to see the updated room that we received. It was nice and clean, had fantastic amenities (fireplace, jetted tub, and a larger than usual mini fridge), and the bed was comfortable for our stay. The breakfast offers plenty of wonderful options for all of the varied needs in our family. During our stay they had: waffles, toast/English muffin, biscuits & gravy, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, juice etc. it was always the perfect way to get started before an active day. We always travel there with a cooler and they had plenty of ice available as well. We prefer to take the 140 to enter Yosemite, so this gem before our drive along the Merced makes for the perfect stay!

We worked our way east and spent two nights at the Tenaya Lodge, just outside the South entrance to Yosemite National Park. This is supposedly a very up-scale hotel and the facilities were very nice, but not worth the several hundred dollars per night that we paid. The restaurant food was just so-so. Access to the Park is severely limited due to the virus. An advanced reservation is required to enter, but we found it to be impossible to get one. We even drove to the Park entrance and pleaded with the staff (claiming we were forced evacuees) but to no avail. To be so close and not be allowed in was extremely disappointing. I went to Travelocity to book subsequent nights and found the River Rock Inn in Mariposa, CA. This historic inn is Mariposa's oldest motel and was constructed in 1941. It is about a block off the main road (hiway 140) and is quiet and peaceful. We did not know when we would be allowed back to our home, so our reservation had to be open ended. I talked to Stephanie Erikson, the owner, about not specifying a check out day and she was very accommodating. Our room, actually a two-room suite, was great; very clean with comfortable beds. Free Wi-Fi that was very reliable, Direct TV, refrigerator, and a wall mounted air conditioner that was quiet - unlike the AC unit in the Tenaya Lodge. The housekeeping was excellent and our hosts, Stephanie and Keith made us feel very welcome. Their customer service was excellent also. We liked it much better than the Tenaya Lodge. There are several good restaurants in town so we ate well! We discovered a great way to get to Yosemite: a bus service called YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transit System) runs frequently from Merced to the Yosemite Visitors Center. There are three stops in Mariposa - one only 80 yards from our room. It takes about 90 minutes from Mariposa to Yosemite Valley. AND, the best part is that no Park reservation is required. Just get on the bus, pay the driver, and you are delivered to the Visitor's Center. Since the park shuttle bus is not running now, you can rent bikes at the Center (with a smart phone app) or hike around the Park. YARTS told me their busses have room for only one bike. Finding the River Rock Inn was the best part of the evacuation. After 5 nights there, we were allowed back to our home. Actually, the fire never got closer than 5 miles from our house. We were very lucky and grateful.

And the other staff were just as fun and helpful. Downtown Mariposa is a wonderful old town and the hotel itself is a slice of early 20th century California history. Our group of four stayed in two rooms and each room was just right. Large rooms with comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, good lighting, and a great A/C. The real perk for us was the covered patio in back. Comfortable in the morning for enjoying the complimentary breakfast snack items and coffee, yes. But even better, we ordered take out food every evening and brought it up to the patio to enjoy al fresco dining and wine. To make sure we had a great dinner, Mary made sure we had cutlery, glasses and condiments to make our dinner even better. We can't recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back!
