The Miner's Inn is our absolute favorite spot to stay when we visit Yosemite! We just got back from a visit last week and plan on 2 more trips this summer. After booking our stay this time, we called with a few questions and were given helpful information from a couple friendly receptionists. Once we arrived, check-in was quick, and much appreciated since we were exhausted from hiking all day in Yosemite. We hadn't been to The Miner's Inn for over 10 years and we were pleasantly surprised to see the updated room that we received. It was nice and clean, had fantastic amenities (fireplace, jetted tub, and a larger than usual mini fridge), and the bed was comfortable for our stay. The breakfast offers plenty of wonderful options for all of the varied needs in our family. During our stay they had: waffles, toast/English muffin, biscuits & gravy, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, juice etc. it was always the perfect way to get started before an active day. We always travel there with a cooler and they had plenty of ice available as well. We prefer to take the 140 to enter Yosemite, so this gem before our drive along the Merced makes for the perfect stay! read more

The food is the same every day and too simple. The front desk is disorganized and no one is available for direct complains. The AC didn't work and we had to call twice after being told that a technician was going to check it out. At the end we requested a fan. The room was hot and had mosquitos also. A great motel located right off the highway and tons of parking. We stayed here for a Yosemite trip and it comfortably fit 6 of us with a ton of extra room and a huge bathroom. We had a kitchen with a fridge, microwave and stove. They also served an amazing breakfast in the main lobby. We were extremely impressed and happy with our stay and highly recommend this motel for anyone looking for a great place that was reasonably affordable. read more

Little did this staff know that I was a local buying a new property and needed a place to stay. The night shift gal was wonderful and helpful upon a late check in (2 stars). The angry manager in the morning was a nightmare of a human to interact with. The hotel itself is bare bones and feels a bit Ozarky. I wish this owner the best and highly recommend they pivot to nothing but friendly and service oriented management. Ps; shared my experience with other locals including a waitress down the street. Excellent quaint Inn, staff Christine & Thomas are Professional, friendly, accommodating. Quick response to any question, need fax documents, great place for a vacation. I have never been to Yosemite, this is the closest. Beautiful amazing scenery, god's country! Gorgeous downtown, lost in time. People here are friendly & warm they all appear to know each other. including employees greeted with a smile. Welcoming feeling to strangers. Emergency paramedics efficient, quick response. This place is ok, which is to say there are pluses and minuses. I like that they are independent and locally owned, but it is tired. The room I had had badly damaged carpet and hallway had worn spots. They do allow dogs which is nice, but at a premium, and only on a limited basis. I hear this may change. read more

I reserved an upscale room for 3 nights for my wife's birthday so that we could enjoy a visit to Yosemite. We arrived at 3 pm after a 4 hr. drive from the Bay Area hoping to take a quick drive to the park so that we could spend some quality time that day. When we arrived, the room was blocked off with construction material and was inaccessible. For the next half hour we were offered a bunch of bad alternative rooms by the receptionist. When our frustration with her became intolerable, we asked to speak to the manager. We were told he wasn't available but after insisting, found out he was at the supermarket doing some shopping. When he returned, after we had been trying to check in for about an hour and a half, he moved the construction material aside and said the room was fine. He was very nice and for our trouble even offered to discount our room by giving us a 10% refund, which wasn't a small amount. I was grateful the matter had been resolved that way. I asked the receptionist if I needed any kind of paperwork for the receipt and she said we did not. The room was fine and the rest of the stay was uneventful. Except for the breakfast. It was pretty awful as 'free' breakfasts go. There's a great diner nearby so don't fret. But if you think a good breakfast is included, it really isn't, as a practical matter. THE KICKER IS THAT THE DISCOUNT THE RECEPTIONIST SAID WE DIDN'T NEED PAPERWORK FOR, FOR OUR 90 MINUTES OF INCONVENIENCE ON ARRIVAL, WAS PROMISED BUT NOT GIVEN. So if you're looking for good service or a decent breakfast, give this place a miss. The room was nice and the cleaning staff excellent. But the chubby receptionist is supercilious and frankly, dishonest in our experience. I called and left voice mail asking why they hadn't given the promised discount and gave them 4 days to call back. They didn't. read more

I stayed at this location last week for a work-related trip, and I honestly would not recommend. While the service was friendly, the room I stayed in was in major disrepair! There was a strong smell of cat piss in the room, the bathtub was dirty, and the ceiling where the bathtub was had a huge gaping hole the size of an avocado. Also, the fan in the bathroom, which turns on automatically when you turn on the light, sounds like a lawn mower! I don't know if they need to hire more housekeepers or better ones, but this was definitely not worth $200/night. read more

We have been a patron of this hotel for years. It is where my husband and I considered "our place" only because we booked the honeymoon suite ( that has now been under renovation for at least three years) when we were first falling in love. The first stay we had to have the TV replaced ( so sexy) and that took a while. Second time, it was the heater... we have stayed there many times and I think there has only been one, maybe two times there has not been an issue with the room. We had always stayed up front. I booked a room for a week or 5 days alone to get away and paint. I have a small dog and I stayed in a no pet room so I did not bring her, however my husband came up and brought her to see me and we went OUT to spend the day shopping and he took her home. She spent no more than 15 minutes in the room. She is hypoallergenic and did not pee in the room. Someone tattled and they felt it was fair to charge us a huge fee for all of the days I stayed there without telling me. I saw the manager every day so this was a shock. We stayed there the weekend of the 4th of July for three nights and pid over 800.00. We were put in this part of the motel that scared the crap out of me. Right by our door there was exposed plumbing? Wrapped but torn and it was smelly and dirty and looked like a nest for all sorts of bugs and breeding ground for germs. We went out to the patio and found a yellow jacket crawling into the sprinkler system over our heads. We were moved to the far end of the hall. There, even though it had been 'checked, we had to request towels, toilet paper and other missing items. At night i could watch the the crack heads ( i am assuming her by their behavior and the in and out of cars and screaming or woman walking up and down the back of rite aide and...) So.... I will leave this long review with saying... we will not be staying there again. I do not trust them. The only redeeming thing about the place is Cathy, one of the managers... but I am not sure if it was her or someone else who felt it was appropriate to charge us a five day stay for a doggie visit that last ten to fifteen minutes... I will start by saying that I work at the front desk of a hotel. I understand how it works. We were overall unimpressed. Our first room had a broken air conditioner (they did move us to another room). Numerous lightbulbs were burnt out, the bathtubs are super nice but unsafe for elderly individuals with no mat, a very large step in, and no bar. Breakfast was not awesome. They are trying to serve a lot of people but lots of food was lacking and not restocked. The tables were full so we were sitting on a couch in the lobby and were asked to move because "that is not the area for breakfast guests." The price was not worth the stay. read more

Had room reserved for one night, paid in advance. It wasn't ready at 3 pm, which is check-in time. I was told housekeeping works an 8 hr shift and wouldn't be done until 5:30pm. I was finally offered another room type, which turned out to have a broken door lock, dirty carpet, and basic worn out everything. The final straw was when the two addicts next door stumbled out of their room to check us out, then returned to their room. After dealing with the unhelpful staff, we checked out. I've stayed here twice leading a team of researchers doing field work near Mariposa. We will be back to Mariposa six more times, and had been hoping to pick one hotel to return to each time we work. The price point for Miners Inn is right, but after our second visit I will be looking for a new place to stay. Overall review: The rooms smell a bit stale and towels are stained, but have been otherwise adequate and fairly clean when we visit. There were a couple hairs on the pillow one time but I wasn't bothered. Bathrooms are clean and mini fridges have worked. The heat pump in room 101 did not work the second time we visited, so it got a little chilly at night, but we made do and didn't end up asking for help. Management is helpful, but we have never seen them wear masks even during the statewide mandate, which was a let-down. They were able to help me when I had a document I needed to print which was appreciated. There are some very cute kitties that roam the property at night and they are the highlight of our stay. But, the red flag for us: the second time we arrived, a manager made a disparaging and racist remark to us about another member of his staff, completely out of the blue. We no longer wish to support Miners Inn, and we don't recommend visiting. read more

My first impression of the hotel was not great. The lady checking people in at the lobby was nice but she was frantic, frazzled, and kept complaining to all of the guests that she was overworked. The check in pretty process took way longer than it should have because of her going on and on with her complaints. We stayed in a king room. It was decent but nothing special. The room was worn down and outdated but clean. It was a bit humid in the room, turning on the AC wall unit took care of that. The bed was comfortable, it felt medium firm. While the towels appeared to be washed, there were a few we couldn't use because they were pretty badly stained. They have a coffee maker in the room but the stirring straws aren't in any type of packaging, they were just sitting at the bottom of the basket. They have a small recycling bin in each room, which was cool since most places don't. The continental breakfast lacked options, it was just okay. The lady at the lobby when I checked out was nice and all I had to do was hand over the keys and I was on my way. read more

Overall, this place was fine for the price. There was plenty of room, the hot tub was hot, and it was conveniently located to Yosemite. The towels were pretty gross (see photo). I'd bring my own next time. The breakfast was decent: cereal, waffles, donuts, instant oatmeal... basically nothing fresh. Some fruit would have really been nice. Let me start out by staying this hotel room itself was not that bad. Our room looked remodeled and a nice giant size jet bath tub and shower. So the bathroom looked really new. The front area also looks new and redone. So the room itself was just fine. Here is the three star issues Our room was remodeled but they didn't clean it well at all. Cracker and fruit loops under the bed. The Couch is a pull out and the old sheets and mud were still on it. They have a silverware you can use but it didn't look clean. Another post mentioned the towels looked dirty, yeah I agree. Replace your towels already. The pool was just hijacked by locals. Their is no locks on the gate to enter. I mean each night their was a gang of people with their cheap beer and hogging the hot tub. People BBQ by the pool and their room which was strange to me. We could hear their conversation.....they were locals. So if you are not using the pool or go early - this should be fine If you can complain and force them to reclean your room, you should be fine (look under the beds). read more

I had a wedding to go to in Mariposa, so we were trying to book a hotel and amazingly enough everything was booked. So somehow we ended here at Miners Inn, however the pictures from the website doesn't look so great...I feared my stay at Miners Inn. But you know what?? Nothing to fear here at this little motel. It's not like that movie "Vacancy"...but still I didn't watch any videos that might be in the room. Luckily our room had a nice new flat screen TV and even though the furniture seemed old, the bathroom was recently remodeled and it was nice. It did have a funky smell when we entered, but nothing a little febreeze couldn't handle!! Always bring the febreeze, it comes in handy! But it was a bit pricey... $165 a night, but maybe they are able to raise the prices in the area because there isn't much to pick from and its the neareest city to Yosmite. It's seriously right next door!! The town is cute too...small little town where everyone knows everyone. Would I stay here again?? Perhaps if the Comfort Inn was full. It wouldn't be my first choice but I wouldn't complain if I had to stay here again. read more

I had just reserved a room at Comfort Inn but canceled it when I read others' reviews about the poor cleanliness, tight quarters and lack of service, plus not to mention the bedbugs!!! I scrambled to find a room for the weekend and Miner's Inn came up with good reviews. I called and reserved a room for two nights, for a foto trip to Yosemite (por fin!!) and while the Comfort Inn was a nightmare for others, the Miner's Inn was perfect for me. Granted, it wasn't IN Yosemite and actually a long windy road drive of more than an hour, but it was great with a good price of UNDER $100. Checked in and was so happy to see a microwave and frig (the Comfort Inn didn't) and with lots of room and a queen-size bed!! I've seen worst and this wasn't in. I was able to park right outside my ground-floor room and not even 42 feet from the lobby where a continental breakfast would be available in the morning! Free wifi was included and was fast once logging in with userid and password. Let me tell you this: often one is given a LOT of stuff when checking in - I never look at it and usually lose it after a few minutes of trying to unwind and unpack. READ the sheet given listing where your room is located. Not only does it tell you a lot of things, you'll be happy you didn't have to call reception when the info included helps you!!! You'll be glad you looked at it!! I am very happy with th Miner's Inn and so happy I canceled my room at the Comfort Inn!! Granted, when you go into the reception/lobby to check-in, you'll think: historic hick but this place is much better than what I have seen, plus many of the others staying in other places nearby the Miner's Inn have been talking.... I extended my stay by one day (total three days) and was lucky I was able to ~ each day have been seeing busloads of tourists... a few have been asians, french and germans. The staff is home country friendly and now I am finally getting my fotos of Yosemite without feeling miserable to stay at inferior lodging. NOTE: This location is about one hour and thirty minutes from the Yosemite NP entrance. If you plan to go to mono Lake as I did, it's about a three-hour drive! Details: Iron and ironing board. Microwave and small black (wow) frig. Room opens immediately to the bathroom. A new Vizio flat-screen tele and only ONE remote is used!! Free wifi as forementioned. Locked connecting room door - no problems at all. Dresser and small table, no problem with water pressure nor drainage in sink nor tub. The faucet in sink and tub/shower is old-style pull and turn left and right for hot/cold water. Pull if you want more water pressure. I love this type better as not so water-wasteful as newer turn all the way for water and full-force water pressure (very wasteful) ~ thanks Miner's Inn for being NOT wasting water! Gas station, visitor's center, and restaurant right across the street. A/C unit in room for air, street air and heat. The included breakfast included: fruit, oatmeal; coffee, chocolate and french vanilla (yaaay) in machine. Tiny packet of mini-pancakes with syrup available (quite tasty while driving to/from Yosemite!). Burritos of cheese & egg and pastries. There might be more items but I forget as I ate it all!!! As of NOW and no idea into the future, there is work ongoing on HWY 140 between Mariposa and Yosemite, which entails a traffic light controlling car traffic on this stretch of road. There is a traffic light that goes green/red allowing each direction only 15-min to get to the "other side". It's a nice "rest area" for those making that long drive... I found it quite relaxing!! I left out stuff in my room while at Yosemite and had nor did I expect ANY problems. Very amble parking!!!! The ONLY complaint I have are the pillows are left-overs from the gold-rush days, otherwise none at all!!! Towels seem to be NEW and thick, big unlike others I've tried to dry off with in other "classier" hotels elsewhere! If you're considering a stay at Miners Inn, let's start with the good. We got in at the last minute, scored a room just a week before a trip in the traveler-filled month of July. An Expedia deal for $156 per was a deal to be just an hour from Yosemite. Love the pool and spa! Everything I saw here was clean, except for the dumpster area (duh). Super nice staff! Free wifi! Friendly tourists! A do-no-harm breakfast buffet features toast, cereal choices, a pair of waffle makers and hard-boiled eggs to go with juices and coffee. There's even a restaurant and lounge, which are open till 10 p.m. Sounds like four or five stars right? It quickly goes from good to bad and bad to kinda worst. From good to bad, because the rooms are average size-wise, but plainly rank as poor in terms of decor. Bad describes the bed. You'll sleep, if you're tired hikers like we were. But you won't exactly be comfortable. Worst describes one particularly poor pillow, encased in plastic, which was far worse than the many other bad ones on the beds. Luckily, we had Yelped and knew to bring our own pillows... Fact is, I wouldn't complain if I stayed here again. I'd just make the most of the spa and walks thru lovely, quaint Mariposa. But next time I head this way, I'll try to book earlier and either closer to the park or a much more comfy place in Mariposa. read more

When my wife and I stayed at Miners Inn for a weekend getaway, we were extremely unsatisfied with the condition of our room. On our first morning there, my wife went to get a change of clothes from her suitcase and found a roach in it. After shaking it out, it crawled to the base board where we noticed several others! It was disgusting! We spent the rest of the morning going through our belongings, checking for bugs. When I reached out to management, someone named Terri.. One of the worst on the mountain. Front desk staff in the day are incredibly rude Rooms are pretty tiny, I've been in bigger Motel 6 rooms. For $90 a night, I expect spacious rooms, working Wifi and a hot jacuzzi which was closed per rain. No lightning, just rain!! The balconies in the king suites backing up to Rite Aid have NO PRIVACY, no security. Very easy for someone to breach the room. Noise is loud everywhere. Tenants can be evicted because this hotel sells sleep? Well, too bad. Soundproof your walls! So I can be kicked out for maybe my ringtone going off, letting my foot down heavy on the carpet? Been hearing those noises from other guests all day!! On the note of privacy, if you don't want a kid, friend etc not seeing you in the shower, good luck. Luckily I'm accustomed to the locker room, so no shame or concern to me. Wifi doesn't work for darn. COVID-19 restrictions as a given this place only rates three stars and that's generous. Our room 146 is tired and needs TLC. The carpets tattered the walls have patches that haven't been painted the TV was all snow and static even after the front desk clerk tried fiddling with the cable connection. (I see that's been a thing for over a year from another reviewer). The shower tub combo is a liability nightmare with an awkward climb into and out of a very slippery tub with no hand rails at all to assist. Our key cards never worked properly causing us to ask for assistance to enter our room even after the cards where reprogrammed twice. The breakfast was laughable even considering COVID. Cold hard boiled egg, yogurt scooped into small plastic cups like dressing is put into at take out restaurants and blueberry muffins that turned out to be two small mini muffins wrapped in plastic wrap rendering them gummy on top. Anyone could do better under any circumstances. Management in this place is using COVID-19 as an excuse to do the very least they can get away with for their guests. It's clearly not the staffs fault. We've given them 3 stars primarily due to friendly staff, a comfortable bed and ample hot water. Those attributes alone aren't enough to garner our repeat business. read more

This review is only for customer service. In Oct 2016, I purchased a Groupon for $178 for a two night stay here. It was purchased with with wonderful weather in the forecast for the week of our trip. It would've been my first time to Yosemite. Unfortunately, a huge storm came in for days making it unsafe to drive 4 hours, much less hike in the rain. I went back and forth with the management and Groupon, each saying I could not cancel with them and had to work with the other. I wanted to chose the following weekend or two weeks ahead instead. Groupon tried to get an exception to use the voucher a different weekend but the hotel would not have it. I fought the charge with my bank and ultimately lost $178. The management could've let us come a different weekend but took my money instead. No way would I recommend this place. Horrible. read more

Our family of 3 stayed at the Miners Inn in June of this year (2019) visiting Yosemite. We made the travel plan late so no lodging in the national park was available. The first night, air-conditioning was not working considering it was June and it was pretty hot. No service people available to fix it and the guy at the front desk tried but no difference made. There was no room for us to move to - fully booked. So, we slept the night very uncomfortably and were promised to be switched to a different room the next day. We moved to a different room the next night and found that the TV doesn't work right - it's full of snow flakes on the screen. Again, there was no service people available that evening and the same guy at the front desk, left a long line waiting for check in, came to us trying to replace the cable with one taking from another room, but again no prevail. He apologized and said will leave a message for the manager and maybe she could do something, like on the payment considering all the inconvenience we'd had experienced. Next day I talked with front desk people on the matter and the lady said she is going to call the manager who is at a difference location. And she suggested I call the manager as well which I did and left a message. I got no reply at all when I get home in San Diego. I called again and get no answer, left another message but no reply so far. I am expecting anything else. Everything at the Inn is very basic ...but that's ok if they work. I'd say that it's the management of property is definitely sub-par, and travelers should avoid staying at this place if you don't want to experience what we did. Harry read more

Totally adequate and comfortable for the Yosemite traveler. Prices are decent and breakfast was decent.

It was a pleasant surprise. Location is about one hour away from Yosemite. It's close to restaurants, a grocery store, and a gas station, so you can stock up just before you go up to Yosemite. The check in was quick, and we got a free upgrade to the mini suite with a separate living room/kitchen area. The bathroom also had a surprisingly large bath tub/spa with jets which was a welcome perk after hours of hiking in Yosemite. Room was spacious with a nice fireplace. Free breakfast is served in the gift shop/lobby area to all guests. The best part of the breakfast is Lisa who's very welcoming and friendly as she helps out the guests during breakfast. I booked this hotel from booking.com because it was stated "free wifi in all areas" plus they allowed to have 4 people in the room without charging much extra and it came with free breakfast as well. Unfortunately, upon arrival, I was told that wifi ONLY works in the Lobby and Pool area. The guy said, "Don't ask me why it only works in the pool and the lobby, I have no idea". Bummer! Very disappointed indeed, but at 3am, I just needed a place to crash and complained later. The room was just whatever and the AC kept making noises every night. It felt like the thing could just come down from the wall at any time. The bed was alright, pretty firm, but we found an almond on top of the bed sheet when we checked in. Fortunately, the bed were all clean, we thoroughly check it before we sleep on it. It's located one hour away from Yosemite National Park entrance and I chose this place because compared to other cities nearby, this is the only one with great food options. However, if you intend to spend more than a day at Yosemite, I wouldn't recommend this place as it's too far away from the entrance and the road is only 2 lanes, 1 in and 1 out. The motel offers a bus to get you to Yosemite for $12/pp roundtrip, but it takes 2 hours each way, pretty crazy. All in all, this place was bang on budget. Being a national park, Yosemite has limited accommodation within the park itself and these get snapped up quickly. Mariposa is located about 25 miles west of the highway 140 entrance into the park and is a good spot to stay - quite a lot fo accommodation and dining options. Miners Inn was a lovely spot and the rooms were nice and comfortable. A large TV and fridge were little bonuses as was the continental breakfast. There's a restaurant on site (separate review). Highway 140 is a lovely scenic route into Yosemite as it follows the Merced river for most of the way and the stunning valley gradually opens out. WoW! is all I can say! What a wonderful place in beautiful part of the world! Our room was a two room suite, with a gas fireplace, a terrace with a lovely oak big oak tree looking over us, and an ginormous jacuzzi bathtub! It was absolutely heavenly. The suite included a mini kitchen with microwave, two burner electric stove, coffee maker, toaster, fridge, and plates, silverware, etc. etc. Fully equipped! The staff was friendly and helpful--a real change from some of the hotels we've stayed in on the road. They have a great gift shop, including a vast assortment of wine, including locally grown varieties. One of the best continental breakfasts I have ever had too! Real food as opposed to stale pastries in plastic bags. VERY VERY clean! Everything WORKED. It was nice nice nice! I could live at this place! Skip the restaurant though--yuck! read more

Miners Inn was not our first choice to stay but because it was a last minute trip on a holiday weekend, our choices were extremely limited, if non-existent. So we found this motel and since the Yelp reviews were very positive, we thought to give it a try. Given the price, the location and the fact it's a motel, we weren't expecting much. Luckily, to our surprise, this place exceeds our expectations. The lobby is open 24 hours, friendly staff and rooms are clean. Yes, the rooms are old, some of the paint in the tub was peeling, the bathroom fan was extremely loud, walls are thin but at least they are clean and the mattresses are comfy. All rooms come with a mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Our room even have a power strip next to the TV so we didn't have to unplug any lights to make room for our phone and camera chargers. The price of the room comes with free breakfast from 6am - 9am. They have two waffle makers with pre-made batter and they are surprisingly good. You should probably skip the donuts (not very appetizing) and opt for fresh fruits and/or cereals instead. Coffee could be better but at least it's available 24 hours (if you don't feel like making it in your room), so are the juices. Three stars for the room and one extra star for the friendly staff. Overall, we had a very positive experience and will definitely stay here again when we are in town. read more

Our experience here was great. Found it through kayak.com and booked it for $84. Got a AAA discount too so it ended up being $89 with taxes and fees. Great for what we needed. Very clean. Helpful staff. Free continental breakfast with a waffle maker. No fruit other than apple but we were able to make nice snacks for our hike with the peanut butter and apples and the boiled eggs! No bugs. Didn't smell bad. Had a balcony! Cool surprise. Sadly no view. Lobby open 24 hours with cereals and coffee and instant oatmeal available. They also sell beer and wine and a handful of touristy knick-knacks. Highly recommend. Only downfall is that everything shuts down by 9 pm, so no dinner for us late comers. Luckily we were able to get sandwich stuff at the local market. read more
