Great service and menu items here. If you're more for the spicier side of things this is just the place for you. (This is my opinion though as every meal I tried was spicy) but non the less they were delicious. Wonderful and helpful staff and great portion sizes. Things to definitely try is first the mango lassi drink! Delicious!!! Don't knock until you've tried it! Then the burnt garlic fried rice with dynamite chicken or the chicken tikka masala also enjoyed the lamb masala. Their menu is a mixture of fusion and traditional Indian foods. The only thing I didn't enjoy that much was two of their deserts, the gulab jamun which is like donut holes soaked in sugar, it was overly sweet for me and then the gajar ka halwa which was like a sweet potato desert. We ordered the Paneer Momo but didn't realize it would automatically be the Tandoori (extra) version. It was pretty good, though the exterior seasoning was a little too smoky for my taste. It like eating a crumbly tofu wonton dumpling that's been pan fried as it was slightly crunchy. The mango lassi is creamy yet thin enough to drink. They only have bottled water. An ice cup can be requested. The Sichuan fried rice with chicken was tasty and is a good dish to taste a version of basmati fried rice. Great, unexpected Indian food in Kingwood. The interior is nicely done and helps elevate the experience. The menu is Indo-Chinese influenced and offers dishes on both ends of the spectrum. On my first night after arriving in Houston, Texas, my friend, her husband, and I decided to have dinner at an Indian restaurant in Humble. It was a Friday evening, the day after Christmas 2025. We arrived here around 6:30pm and found parking fairly quickly. The restaurant at the time was not busy and we were seated almost immediately in the middle of the room. We spent about 10 minutes to decide on what to order and we opted to share family style. Our time here was about 1 hour or so, finally leaving around close to 8pm. It was definitely a nice place to be in, especially with Indian cuisine. The ambiance was nice and quiet. I guess we got the jackpot or avoided any dinner rush on a Friday night. We ended up ordering individually between us and added more food if needed. We ordered biryani, lamb korma, some spicy dumplings, tandoor chicken, which was nice and spicy, an order of veggie samosas, and of course, garlic naan to smooth things out. It was a feast for the eyes and taste buds. The staff here was very professional and dedicated to the food and cuisine that they serve every night. I did enjoy the restaurant's decor while we dined. The quality of the food and portions were adequate. You might want to do yourself a favor and come here, if you are in the Houston area and want to give tihs place a try. The overall experience here at The Monk's Indian Bistro was very good and quite a magical actually. It felt like a good place to go to when you are feeling Indian cuisine but don't want to drive around Houston looking for that sweet spot for lunch or dinner. For the most part though, it was a delicious meal that will captivate you and your senses, not to mention your taste buds and everything that you are. While I have yet to immerse myself in the biriyani's, I know for a fact that the curries are amazing and I do enjoy the basmati rice and the garlic naan. My absolute favorite would be the tandoor chicken. Might need to see if I can find a recipe for that. In the meantime though, The Monk's Indian Bistro here in Houston, Texas is legit and definitely one you'd want to come to while you're traveling through Texas. We had a wonderful meal at The Monk's recently and then a week later we ordered carry-out. The food we had on our first visit was very good. Our carry-out food was a bit less satisfying. I'd say the raita was almost just liquid and no cucumber. Some of the dishes were hotter than we would have liked. 30 years ago, Indian restaurants in the USA were not as hot as they are now, and I enjoyed the food much much more. The problem with hotness in the food is that you can't make it less hot no matter what you do. However, if someone thinks they need it hotter, they can always add chilis or pepper, etc. to taste. If local Indian restaurants were not producing so much hot food, we'd eat out MUCH more frequently at them. read more

Lovely restaurant, enjoyed the layout, decor, furniture and the service!! The food was very good and a little on sweet side but it was spicy! I ordered their dynamite shrimp and their paneer tikka masala! Both were delicious! The service I received from the staff was great! He checked on me frequently and made excellent recommendations to menu items!! It really helped me narrow down my decision for lunch and I believe it was worth it to follow his suggestions. The only reason why I'm giving this place 5 stars is because the waiter attempted over 4 different times to pressure me into giving a positive Google review while I was still trying to eat and both while I was on a phone call. I felt in order to get him to sort of calm down and leave it be, I lied and agreed to give the review just to get him to go away. He was lovely otherwise but his behavior suggested that his employment perhaps depended on the number of positive reviews the restaurant received with his name as a reference in the review. It sort of put me off a bit but I'm sure I'm just over reacting which is why overall, I rate this restaurant a 4 out of 5 because the food was still incredible and the vibe of the restaurant was worth its wait in gold!!! read more

We had such a delicious evening at The Monk's Indian Bistro! Their curated menu did not disappoint at all! First of all, I love their mint lemonade. It's addictive and refreshing. The vegetable samosa was one of the best I've had! The spicy mint sauce that accompanies it was perfect! Two of my favorite dishes were the Dynamite Chicken and Chinese Behl! The chicken was so tasty and the crispy noodles in their sweet chili and sauce was so savory! It's hard to decide on a favorite because all of their dishes had something special about them. From something traditional to fusion, I can honestly say it was such a delicious meal. My two standouts are The Chicken Hakka Noodles and The Lamb Masala. Wowwww! Make sure you order your Mango Lassi to accompany these perfectly spicy entrees. The service was excellent and the staff was so nice! I love the swanky decor and ambience. This new Indo-Chinese spot currently ranks in the top 10 restaurants in Humble on Yelp, so I made it a point to come and try them out. My first impression was wow, this is a nice place, is this really in Humble? Second impression was seeing the front of their menu that they have 10 locations! Six of those locations are in the Houston area with Yelp ratings ranging from 3.8 to 4.8, which is pretty good, I'd say. I reviewed the menu here just prior to visiting, so I knew 3 dishes I was already interested in; I just had to decide on my final selection upon arrival. There is no "Lunch Menu". They are a tad on the pricy side for a lunch option if you're in the area, so if you're looking to spend $10 or less, this is not your place. I spent $29 all-in during a recent weekday lunch, with a small leftover bag to go. I went with an iced tea, garlic naan, and goat vindaloo (spicy). You will get a choice with some dishes to do medium, spicy, or extra spicy. I wanted a little spice on a cold day, but didn't want to be burnt alive so I chose the middle option. How did it taste? Let's just say this was one of the best vindaloo's I've ever had. The spice level was also perfect as the "spicy" really brought the heat and was on the cusp of being difficult to eat, but it wasn't. There are some bones if you choose goat like I did but the curry was really flavorful. The bread was your standard garlic naan, it wasn't very thick though. In some places it was even a tad chewy. Service was near flawless, except for about a 5-minute period where I was waiting on a tea refill. They bring the bill to you, and you can pay at the table. I saw one employee walking around with the credit card machine for some other tables that also dined in, but he didn't make me use it thankfully. I hate using those machines! I was one of the only non-Indian customers, so that is a good sign! read more

Ok... lately, I've been trying out new restaurants and having anywhere between decent to top teir food, this restaurant is the 2nd restaurant in a row that has got my top teir rating. Let's start off with service. I ordered online, and when I arrive, the restaurant was empty. Maybe it was mid afternoon on a Saturday and maybe they'll be busy later. Anyway, the gentleman that helped me in the front had awesome customer service, probably, honestly, the best I've encountered in the last couple of days. Not only the customer service was awesome, he even offered me a bottle of water while I waited for my food. Now on to the food, I've ordered the Butter Chicken Masala and 2 orders of Garlic Naan Bread. Probably some of the best food I've ever put in my mouth... ever. The Butter Chicken Masala had a bit of sweetness with a background of spicy. I've ordered a spice level of medium just to test out. Next time I'll go for spicy. The Garlic Naan was the perfect amount of Garlic flavor, immediately goes well with any Masala dish. I will definitely be back read more

what an amazing find. the food that comes from this establishment is INCREDIBLE. bf is feeling under the weather and wanted indian food to clear his congestion. we had been meaning to try this place for too long. i'm so mad we didn't order from here sooner. the flavor. oh goodness, the FLAVOR! i ordered the dynamite chicken biryani with a medium heat level. the rice sits on top of the chicken, so i had a few bites of that before i reached the protein. the rice was perfectly cooked. i sifted through the rice a bit until i found a piece of chicken. the explosion of flavor that followed, amazing. i think the chicken is a sort of breaded and then tossed in sauce. and the portion .. for $12 (we got the lunch special), this is easily TWO meals. bf said his food was equally delicious. i had a bite of his chicken 65 biryani, het got his extra spicy (because of his congestion) and it was SPICY! but not in an over the top, you can't taste anything but heat, way. could i eat more than a few bites? probably not. it gave a nice full mouth warmth from the heat. my kiddo ordered the tikka masala with a very mild spice. it is so refreshing that what heat level you order, is exactly what you get. i normally order a spice level down when trying out a new place. i could have comfortably gone up one level. garlic naan was great! also ordered the manchurian noodles and they were smokey and tasty. if you're in the fence about trying out this place, DO IT!! read more

Tucked away in The Commons at Deerbrook Plaza, this place is a hidden gem among the usual suspects. Bonus: it's got its Halloween spirit on, with festive decorations adding charm to its clean, modern minimalist vibe--gold-plated cutlery and all. Fancy, right? I was greeted immediately upon arrival and shown to a cozy booth. Quick tip: bring a light jacket if you get cold easily. The waiter kindly offered to turn down the AC, but we politely declined as Texas is hot and rather be cold than sweating while eating. They started us off with bottled water, which--let's be honest--made me feel fancy already. Jason and I went for a Taj Mahal Lager, and the waiter gave it his seal of approval. It's smooth, rich, and not too hoppy (I'm not a hop-head), pairing perfectly with the meal. We kicked things off with the Monk's Special Momo (4/5), six dumplings served with a semi-spicy green sauce. Full disclosure, we didn't get knives, so cutting them was a bit tricky, but no biggie--the flavor made up for it. For the mains, we dived into Tikka Masala, Vindaloo, and Goat Biryani. The Tikka Masala (4/5) hit the right notes of spice, but the portion felt light on the chicken. Vindaloo (4/5), however, didn't hold back on flavor or heat--medium spice was perfect, with potatoes adding a hearty touch. And then there was the Goat Biryani (4/5)--huge, delicious, but a bit spicier than expected. Lyndsey and I found it hotter than the other dishes, but it was still a winner. The Naan bread is additional charge, we opted for two orders of the garlic naan out of their selection of 4. Think it was enough for 3 as we had two pieces left. Biryani portion was generous enough that we left with to-go containers, ready for round two at lunch the next day. The service was on point--our waiter checked in often and even asked for a Google review at the end. We almost dropped that we were "chismosos locales" (Yelpers), but he got pulled away before we could. Overall, I loved the vibe, the festive decor, and the tasty food. Another Indian food spot while traveling and I was mostly happy with what I had but there were some negatives. First the butter chicken was outstanding. Perfect flavor and texture combined with the garlic naan which was sone of the best I've ever had it was thin warm and delicious. Also a healthy portion too for the price with the naan. A theme that unfortunately wasn't upheld everywhere. I tried the Chinese Manchuria chicken entree and it wasn't very good. Didn't eat much of it. Same with the dynamite chicken appetizer. Both had flavors unappealing. Also ordered the Manchurian fried rice which was very good however adding chicken for $3 was a ripoff as there was hardly any chicken added. Also the jasmine rice portions provided for the entrees was definitely the bare minimum. I felt like all of the portion sizes outside of the naan were a little small for the price. I really wanted to love this place, it had great ratings so me and my daughter wanted to try it out, but unfortunately our experience here was not a good one, we came here on a thursday and it was pretty empty except for a small group next to us, the waiter sat us right away but took a while to come back and ask us if we wanted something to drink, i figured he was just giving us time to order but still stood behind the counter until we asked him to come take our order, once we ordered to took well over over 30 minutes to get our food, in the mean time a couple came in and was served and received there food almost immediately after us, which i thought was odd, we ordered butter masala and chicken tikka and the food was good but nothing to write home about. It was what happened after that left me writing this review, when the waiter came to our table our bill was 62 and i left a 20% percent tip as i do every time I dine, but noticed that my total bill after tip came out to 82 dollars which did not add up, when i looked at my bank statement it appears he had charged me 69 dollars instead of 62 dollars that was my original bill which means i had tipped him well over 20 dollars, when i approached him thats when he started back peddling and told me he charged me the other tables bill on accident and asked me how i wanted to proceed i then told him i wanted back what he had overcharged me, and so he refunded that back to me, i honestly believe had i not approached him about this error he would have never retracted it and gave me my money back, this whole experience left a really bad taste in my mouth and due to this i will not be returning and I would check and recheck your checks when visiting this establishment. read more

The sauce for the chicken tikka masala was absolutely amazing--rich and flavorful--but the chicken portion was really small compared to the amount of sauce. It felt unbalanced, especially for the price. Honestly, I'd rather go to Tarka, and I don't mean that as an insult, just a better value for similar quality. The chicken tikka masala noodles had a decent portion size but weren't memorable at all. They lacked that special touch to make them stand out. On top of that, the service left a lot to be desired. No water refills at all, which is frustrating, especially for spicy dishes. As someone who eats out almost every day, I have plenty of options, and unfortunately, this won't be one I return to. Now this is definitely off the beaten path for most halal food seekers in Houston, and way off the path for a Dallas foodie like myself, but circumstances led to me stopping in here one pleasant evening and I'm certainly glad I did. For one, service was great. We had the pleasure of being served by Pravin who seems to be a fan favorite around there and I can definitely understand why. His recommendations were on point, considering he personally spoke to the chef on our behalf to make small adjustments. That and his metered attention was much appreciated. As for food, my recommendation would be to stick with more of the Chinese side of this Indo-Chinese spot. Their curries, naan and Tandoori BBQ were solid but they don't bring the same flavor and freshness that items like their Dynamite Chicken did (a dish I will always recommend). All that together means you're in for a pretty great experience if all your pieces happen to fall in a row like they did for me. Why not make the drive over and give yourself a chance? read more
