    Bhel puri

I reserved Amrina for my husbands birthday celebration. When we got there, the waiters double checked with us that we wanted to do the tapas menu. To be honest, when I made the reservation we didn't reserve anything with the tapas menu but we went with it. We were sat near the bar giving us the view of the kitchen and asked to check out the menus. I did the vegetarian tapas and my husband did the non vegetarian tapas. I absolutely love Indian street food so this worked out. In order we recieved: Pani puri - the puris were crunchy, had some spice and the passionfruit topping was adding the tangy spice, delicious! It also had avocado and fruit which is so unique. Presentation was picture worthy! Papidi chaat- not one of my favorites but tasted pretty usual, I enjoyed the yogurt also giving it some tang. Bhel puri- tasted like your typical bhel puri but the topping placed on the top was very unique- made it seem a little more high end. Pok pok po - the presentation was very unique- I almost didn't understand the dog statue as seen in my photo but the food was still good! But I also learned that the chef has another sister restaurant downtown called Pok Pok Po mainly Indian style chicken. Paneer wrap- had some heat! The chutney was a good addition to the wrap Birthday chai bomb- there was a chocolate ball where you pour hot chai on top and it was delicious! Choice of popsicle- the last item- at this point we were extremely full, I picked the passion fruit popsicle and it was fresh and delicious! The presentation again didn't really make any sense to me. Overall- the tasting menu was actually a really good surprise and delicious! I wound highly recommend! The staff were great, the chef brought us one item and introduced himself- definetly felt like a special night.

Located next to Woodland Mall, Amrina is an upscale Indian-inspired restaurant. Valet parking is available, though you can also park at the mall if you don't mind a short walk. The neo modern interior is stylish and chic. Our group opted for the 10 course Chef's table tasting menu with wine pairings. The Chef's table is in a semi private space right in front of the kitchen, separated from the main dinning room by curtains. It was fun to watch the kitchen in action, but the area felt a bit warm at times. Presentation was definitely one of the highlights of the evening. Each dish arrived in uniquely designed serve ware and each wine was presented in a different glass. The ingredients were top-notch, featuring Hokkaido scallops, Wagyu beef, yellowfin tuna, etc. That said, while some dishes highlighted the Indian flavors we were expecting, others leaned more towards American fusion. The wine pairing complemented each dish well and the sommelier provided detailed explanations for each wine. My favorite dishes of the night were the chaat and the lamb chop. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and appreciated the quality of the ingredients, the service and presentation. However I wish there's more emphasis on the Indian flavors. Based on the glimpse of the flavors we experienced in some of the courses, I suspect I might enjoy a simple bowl of vindaloo or curry from their regular menu more.

Located in The Woodlands near the mall is Amrina. They have valet parking so that is nice. The interior decor is very posh. We were greeted by Brittney-Nicole and her assistant, Maria. We started out with the New Fashioned and the chai and Barrel cocktails. Both were well balanced, not too sweet and smooth. We ordered the oysters that were baked/broiled with parm, bread crumbs and a type of curry spice. They were fantastic. On my list of the top 5 best oysters I have ever had. We had another cocktail and ordered the ribeye. Brittney- Nicole really sold us on this. Chef Yash adds a dry rub of Indian spices. It is then seared in cast iron. It is then finished in the oven to temp- the perfect medium rare. It was huge and delicious. It was served with a chimichurri and a curry sauce. The steak was fantastic on its own, but with the two sauces, it elevated it out of this world. We were celebrating so we enjoyed a presentation of a chocolate covered tiramisu, which was presented table side, lit on fire and hot chai poured over it. It was so amazing. It was the perfect sweet bite to finish. Everything was absolutely perfect. We totally recommend this place for a an amazing night.

Such an elevated experience for Indian food. We absolutely enjoyed the ambiance here and the cocktails. The only thing that could have been better was the speed and quality of the service from our waiter. It took him a very long time to get our orders out, take more drink orders and see if we even wanted dessert. We enjoyed the garlic naan and the curries were very tasty. We had multiple cocktails but the best were the espresso martinis at the end! You have to park in the garage and walk here or use their valet service. There is barely any street parking in this area btw.

WOW. This is only the second high-end Indian restaurant I've been to - well, Indian fusion - and it was top notch. TOP notch. It's one of those funny experiences where we trusted the waiter - who was also top notch - and I don't remember all of what we ordered. But I do know that the filet is had was not only stellar - but also unique. It was NOT a standard nice steakhouse filet - it absolutely had an Indian fusion flair to it that was woooooonderful. Dessert was too much. We should have shared it instead of each getting one. The way he described it, it sounded small - but it was SUPER rich. And not exactly small. See pics. Highly recommend, but wow, rich. Easily split. Ambiance was nice, dark, intimate steakhouse type ambiance. Also had a great cocktail to start that was, again, unique and wonderful. Wish I could remember starters and sides! Everything was wonderful. Can't wait for a special occasion to hit this place again. Check it out!

If you are in the area, this place is a must. If you are far..... it's worth the drive. Amrina is lining itself up for a Michelin star, and they definitely deserve it. From service, to food, to drinks, to plating - everything was done with lots of thought and detailed preparation. Chef has taken a cuisine where everything is fully drenched in spices to the point of where you can't even name the protein, and diled it down to where it's so well balanced with the rest of ingredients to elevate and augment every each one. Fare is filling , yet not heavy, subtle yet bold. Not being a huge fan of Indian cuisine, I thoroughly enjoy our meal. Service was great, attentive and witty when needed. Very well informed and trained, our waitress was an absolute professional. To round things up- plating and presentation was excellent. When you put all these things together, simple dinner becomes an experience.

We had a great first time experience, even though, I am not a fan of Indian food so much. Glad we stayed! Our waiter Austin, is so generous! He made our experience better than what we expected. Our dishes were absolutely amazing, tasty, and worthy of another visit! Naan bread is homemade and buttery. Excellent service all around!

My wife chose Amrina in The Woodlands for my birthday dinner and it was a great call. The food was really good, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything we ordered hit the mark. Our server was excellent. Super friendly, attentive, and made the night feel relaxed without being over the top. The ambiance was just right. Warm, stylish, and comfortable, with a vibe that feels special but not stuffy. Perfect for celebrating and actually enjoying the moment. If you're looking for a solid spot for a birthday dinner or a night out, Amrina is worth it. I'd definitely go back.

The best Indian cuisine I've had in awhile. Went here to celebrate my husband's birthday and I'm so glad I did. The outdoor seating area looked good and cozy, we visited at night and it was too cold to sit outside anyhow. Interior decor is beautiful seating area at the front so chic. The food was delicious, all of our choices. I recommend the chicken breast (butter chicken) and also the garlic naan as a side. Our waiter Raj was so helpful and a great server. Made our dining a pleasure. We had one of the best Indian dinner and my husband enjoyed his birthday and also his complimentary dessert! It's a must visit and they'll surely see me again soon.

Had dinner last night at Amrina in The Woodlands this spot definitely gives fine dining vibes. The space is gorgeous, and the outdoor patio is perfect for a chill evening. Our server Dee was AMAZING she managed to handle our group of 20 like a pro! I started off with their take on the old fashioned called the "New fashioned" it was so good. I don't remember the bartenders name but he definitely poured it strong . For food, I got the Lamb Nachos and the Tandoor Quail both were very delicious. And listen if you like garlic naan, theirs is the best I've ever had! If you want to try something new or enjoy Indian food. Definitely add this restaurant to your list. I will be going back for the tasting menu for sure!

Amrina is a higher end Indian style restaurant in downtown Woodlands opposite the mall. Parking is a bit tough so it's easier to park to the north and walk over as only offer valet parking. Our group opted for the chef's tasting course with friends just to try out the best-of chef recommendations along with a wine tasting. Overall, the food was definitely utilizing higher end ingredients with familiar Indian flavors; lobster, truffle, wagyu beef, scallops, yellowfin tuna etc with white wine, cabs, and ice wine. There were some hits, some misses, and some dishes which were alright. Some of the dishes focused too much on being higher end and missed out on the traditional Indian spices and flavors. Other dishes went more for aesthetics and fusion and missed out on the strong Indian base flavors that we are used to. We enjoyed the Wagyu beef and crispy dishes most of all but a few of the dishes tasted less Indian and more American fusion. At the end of the course, we were actually hoping for a big bowl of lamb vinadloo with some naan! The wine pairing was very detailed but as a non wine enjoyer, there's no comment from me.

Happy hour is really good - especially if you are wanting to keep to a higher caliber of cocktail. None of the cocktails are overly sweet - so feel free to be a little adventurous!

Another Houston Restaurant Week treat! I've been meaning to try this place for so long and was so glad it was part of restaurant week. This restaurant is pretty spacious and the vibes of the place are awesome. It can be dim lit especially at night, but there's plenty of ambient lighting. For my first course I got the tuna crudo which was very refreshing--a nice start to the meal. For my main course I got the malabar prawn curry. The prawns were soft and tender and paired so well with the coconut-y sauce. It went very well with the garlic naan. We also got some rice, but I felt that the rice tasted a little off--almost like it hadn't been washed enough if that makes sense. Otherwise, very good meal. For dessert I got the honey and yogurt shrikhand which was a light refreshing way to end the meal. I loved the combination of honey and pineapple. I tried some of my friends apps and entrees as well. The truffle raj kachori was the star of the appetizers--creamy, flavorful, crunchy--it was so satisfying. As for entrees the stars were the lamb chops and the butter chicken. Both proteins were prepared so well--tender and plentiful. Highly recommend! The drinks here are also delicious. I got the cuddles on the beach and she went so well with my meal.

    Ask the Community - Amrina

Is the outside patio seating area pet friendly?

Hi Kristen! Thank you for reaching out. Feel free to bring your pets on our patio. We would love to meet them.

Where would be a good place to park?

We used valet parking and it was only $5. But I believe there is parking in the back in a garage

Can my teenaged son wear shorts (dressy, not athletic) to dinner here?

Hi Sheryl! Thank you for reaching out and asking. Yes, that is perfectly fine. We have no dress code just ask our guests to dress appropriately for a fine dining experience. Hope you enjoy your dinner!

Does this place allow kids/babies? We were hoping to bring our newborn along for date night.

Hello! Yes, we allow kids for dinner service and brunch.

    Is there a dress code?

Casual dress and higher . Shorts no matter the nicety seem too little. IMO

Are there gluten free options available?

Hi Darcy! Thank you for the question. Our menu fluctuates very frequently as all of them are seasonal but they tend to run nearly 70-80% gluten free. Our staff can brief you on everything whenever you can visit as well as provide you a separate menu…

Hi is any of the meat halal?

Hi Tree, We appreciate you asking. Our lamb is halal and of course our seafood is as well.…

5 stars all the way for location, vibe, food, and service. A tad shocked though, as to how pricey…read moreit all got in the end - essentially a drink (cocktail and beer)-sandwich - dessert meal for two costing $92, including tax and tip. Ordered Prickly Pear Mezcal margarita, Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing light IPA beer, cup of Cream of Cauliflower Soup, Caprese Panini on Focaccia bread with Herbed Fries, West Coaster Panini (Ham, Avocado, Arugula) on Ciabatta bread with Herbed Fries, and a Coffee Fudgy Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream to go. Service was fantastic with our server (Will) being very knowledgeable and friendly. Drinks and food arrived quickly and were fantastic - the drinks were on point, the food ample in quantity and flavorful in taste. The Fudgy Brownie was divine! Well-done! As I mention above, the final tally was a bit shocking. Otherwise, a great place to hang out; planning to return to avail of the Mon/Tue $25 Wine and Bruschetta Board special.

[EDIT only to correct to "Postino"]…read more I use the one-stars sparingly, I really do. This has nothing to do with the food, as we never got that far in the course of my miserable experience at this location (not sure if it's a chain or not). Walked into a relatively quiet restaurant somewhat later in the evening after strolling a bit in the summer Houston heat around the Woodlands. A couple of people recommended Postino. The issue arose when I asked for a possible menu modification. Specifically, I was trying to avoid GOAT CHEESE on the meatball dish I had my eyes on (which otherwise looked pretty tempting). The server indicated that they probably couldn't do it but I nevertheless requested this... a couple of minutes later the server returned with the bad news. Apparently, it simply had to be served as-is, according to the menu. This in itself wouldn't have got me to the point of writing this review. However, I, incredulous, was kind of laughing (you have to laugh) and said something like "so I can only order exactly what's on the menu, and the kitchen can't do anything different?" (slight paraphrasing, perhaps). There wasn't much further conversation with the server but within about 30 seconds of this exchange, a "manager" stormed over to the table and borderline-abusively shouted "is there a problem?!". This "mini-manager" as I will refer to her, proceeded to inform me that they could NOT accommodate changes because it would "violate the integrity of the restaurant" ... I of course I also found a bit humorous, and in this state inquired further about what sense it made to be so obnoxiously strict for someone just trying to grab a quick bite about 30 minutes before closing. I'm sensitive to the work involved in running restaurants and serving obnoxious customers, but I was NOT rude, obnoxious, or difficult. Just blown away by this treatment. I was then informed by the mini-manager that she was from LONDON which I assume meant I should accept that her cosmopolitan background and (I assume vast and high-level culinary experience) meant that I should shut my trap and stop being so picky. At this point I was compelled to mention that I, too, grew up overseas and was very surprised at this complete lack of flexibility. Within another 30 seconds or so of this dialogue, the mini-manager tipped the menu over on the table and abruptly shouted, "you know what, I'm refusing you service!" That made it all easy from there as we promptly (while laughing, partly out of shock) exited the facility. Huge disappointment and embarrassing in my view for a restaurant that seems otherwise to have maintained a great reputation - and especially so for the fact that service (and people in general) in Houston tend to be kind and accommodating, not typically RUDE or reactionary. I'm encouraging this restaurant to have a look at the service model. I can't say I'll try Postino again the next time I'm in Houston, but I certainly hope it continues to truly earn its 4.5 star rating, 'cause they sure did NOT when I was there this weekend.
