The banana foam top tastes amazingly light and fluffy by itself but becomes more subtle once mixed with the matcha. However, I still thought it tasted great, and the matcha is pretty high quality. For the plain croffle, I do wish that they added a bit of glaze to give the croffle a little bit more of an initial crunch, but it was still pretty good and chewy. The inside is spacious (I saw a lot of people working off laptops), and there's some patio seating outside.

Lots of seating both indoor and outdoor - there is also a separate quiet room. Drinks and pastries had good flavor for average price and fast service. I really liked the chocolate cream cheese muffin and my partner enjoyed the horchata latte.

I loved the mugs in diamond bar so I wasnt surprised to see this one in the same concept -- lots of seating but PACKED on a weekday afternoon, lots of coffee and matcha options but it just seems impersonal, since there's so many people coming through. Not much service here, the barista didn't say welcome or hello, didn't really talk at all. I ordered tea and it came out fairly quickly. 2 points off for lack of seating area (despite lots of chairs and tables) and lack of service. Otherwise it's a casual study cafe located in prime spot of Irvine.

I got a chance to visit the Mugs and had a good experience. They offer a wide selection of drinks and pastries with a lot of comfortable seating. Food: They offer a good selection of crossaints, scones, macaroons, and other pastries. I got a chance to try the iced latte and it was very flavorful. Service: The employees are very friendly and helpful. Ambiance: The Ambiance is very nice. Theere is a lot of comfortable seating. There is also a study room.

Mugs is a new coffee shop in the Northwood Center near the Korean market. The layout has a lot to offer, two separate rooms to sit, drink coffee, and work on your computer. Therefore, a better name might be "chairs, " and not mugs. There are three separate rooms to find a seat, not including the outside patio. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It was a very hot day, so they gave us ice water right away. The coffee was great, for they have some special choices that tend to the sweet tooth in me. They also have the traditional unsweetened choices and lattes. Those are more what I like. Their pastries are wonderful. So many places are so crowded it is so hard to find a seat, not here. There is lot's of room. A couple suggestions to add to this wonderful place: add a few live plants, some soft music, artwork on the walls. I hate to say it, but the glasswork needs to be wiped down. Do these things, I'll change my grade to five stars. I do recommend Mugs as a great place to relax and have some coffee.

came here on a whim for some early morning drinks and food, and everything was delicious. their croffles come out hot and include potato chips and dipping sauce, not to mention they had a deal with the croffle to make it a "combo" with a drink! the spot is located in a plaza with plenty of parking, and seats indoor and outdoor. the matcha lattes were good and creamy here, i hate a watery matcha and it's absolutely not that here. the coffee was good as well but they have such a wide selection and everything is pretty customizable to your liking. service was also very nice and it's a casual spot that doesn't get too busy or loud. i'd love to come back if im ever in irvine for a little morning pick me up.

Outlets - yes! Bad wifi. Mid matcha. I love the vibe of this cafe - a fun place to come with friends or to get work done. Service is fast and friendly. They are also pretty busy and popular, so it's hard to get a seat (I've come a couple times and its packed). I will have to say the double matcha was not worth. Something (I'm assuming the milk) tasted funny/irregular - not sure why. I would come back to try the Mitsugaru though!

So my coworker and I have a standing appointment weekly to go get coffee on Wednesdays and try out new places around town. Unfortunately this week I have to go alone, but got to go try out The Mugs! Honestly it's overall ok. The places vibe is set up mainly as either a quick 2 person coffee and chat or as a study coffee shop. But really just seems like a study or work coffee shop. The staff were pretty friendly and kind of helpful, lol IDK. So there's this trend where a lot of coffee shops for some reason don't like to tell you what's in their coffees? And that's fine since most places don't and most items on the menu are standard fare, but The Mugs had a drink I've never heard of called the Dalgona Latte (I'm not on TikTok so I missed it becoming viral in 2020 per my google of it later). Overcoming my personal issues of asking questions to a cashier I asked what this taste sensation was and was told that it's an iced coffee with sweet cream and candy. A little more detail somewhere would have been great or a better explanation! But quick service . As mentioned, I got the Dalgona Latte and was taken aback by it lol. The coffee sweet cream were good! It was a VERY rich coffee, I think? That's the best term that comes to mind when trying to describe it. It came topped with a darkly toasted honeycomb toffee-like candy which was neat. Overall I'd say if your in this neck of the woods to give it a shot. Thanks!

We ordered matcha latte $7 (march 2026h and banana matcha latte $7. They were very creamy. Little too creamy for my taste and the place was super busy and packed with students from UCI getting prepared to their winter quarter finals! Service was pretty quick. Ambiance was like an on campus student cafe! Good to be around young kids!

The Mugs is a nice cafe in Irvine if you're looking for quick service and a place to sit and chat! I came here with a friend and we got our drinks in what seemed like just a minute after ordering. We ordered matcha lattes with regular milk. The sweetness was at a good level (not too much, but not too little), but the matcha taste was a little mild. There's a lot of seating indoors and outdoors. A lot of people come here to work/study inside. We sat outside, and it was great that the tables are in the shade with umbrellas to cover too. Really nice to people watch outside as well :) I do want to come back sometime and try some of the pastries they have in their case, they look tasty.

I showed up right when The Mugs opened and there was already a small line of people waiting for their coffee, always a good sign. Seating & outlets: Very laptop friendly, lots of seating w/ outlets. I scoped out the options and was immediately drawn to the room with tables. There's a mix of chairs (some hard, some cushier leather ones), and every table has charging outlets, major plus. WiFi isn't the fastest, but good enough for light work or casual studying. Food & coffee: Started off with their Supremo drip coffee: smooth, strong, and just what I needed. Then I tried Mirado GR4 next: a bit more bitter, and my pleb palate couldn't quite pick up the fig, nougat, and brown sugar notes it claimed. Still, points for the zing I needed to get through my work. Said I wouldn't but caved and tried a croffle. I got the ham & cheese. VERY buttery. Tasty but def not worth the calories :/ The Mugs right next to Zion Market (the kimbap inside is great!) and you're surrounded by tons of restaurant options. They don't allow outside food inside, but the Mugs has a nice outdoor patio you can eat at if you buy food from elsewhere in the plaza. Parking: Easy and free in shopping center Service: Smooth & friendly. They carefully make most the drinks to order, so expect a little wait when it gets busy and they get busy quick. They've got both a self order kiosk and a human at the counter. What I didn't like: There's only one bathroom, it's clean-ish but the air freshener is way too strong and the ventilation can't keep up. The result? A bit of an olfactory battlefield, if you know what I mean. And the music....omg yikes. This was the real crime. Every song was worse than the last. Do yourself a favor and bring headphones. Great study spot. Definitely coming back but only with headphones.

Picked up a Horchata Latte here on a weekend before a long drive! Personally this drink was way too sweet for me, but the flavor itself was not bad - I could definitely taste the coffee. Service was quite slow - I waited around 30 minutes for this one drink. However, the workers were really friendly, and this situation was understandable since the store was extremely busy. If you want to visit this location, I would avoid going on weekend mornings, especially on Sundays when a lot of people are leaving the church.

easily one of my favorite coffee shops in irvine! it's a quaint little shop but it's definitely a popular stop. there's a ton of indoor and outdoor seating, but the patrons are mostly students or other individuals who bring things to work on. they provide free wifi which is nice, but it can be hit or miss as to whether you'll be able to secure a spot to stay and sit depending on when you come. i usually just pick up a drink to go. their rose matcha is my go-to order every single time, and this place was honestly the shop that got me into starting to drink matcha. they also have a variety of snacks and small bites that are pretty good too. definitely recommend!

Came here on a weekend to study and it was really packed inside but there are a few tables outside in the front that are also available. I got the banana matcha and my friend got the strawberry matcha. I've come to mugs before and I feel like it was definitely better then than it is now. Maybe it was because they were really busy but the matcha just tasted like only banana syrup and the strawberry matcha was just okay, nothing special. It wasn't too loud inside or outside so always a good spot to study at if you can find a seat especially since it always so busy. read more

Really nice study area! It's cute and cozy, but it may be hard to find a spot as it seems pretty popular. Service is extremely friendly and welcoming as well! My only complaint is that my matcha latte was not the best I've had.. I got a matcha latte with soy milk -- maybe the milk alternative made it less sweet, but the latte tasted water and extremely "grassy" as matcha-haters would describe matcha.. I usually love matcha so I was a little disappointed I didn't like it. I'd probably come back to study and try another drink though! read more

My friend and I come here on a weekly basis due to how much we adore the dynamic of the cafe!! It is a great study/workplace and there is plenty of seating (it does fill up throughout the day). I tend to go during the morning to get work done and I always leave feeling productive and satisfied. Their matcha isn't the best, but the amazing study environment makes up for it! Their coffee is delicious though! Their seasonal drink, matcha foam latte, is my all time favorite and I am waiting for it to return in the fall!! The staff are also friendly and helpful. The inside is very nice for studying, but the actual food is what I had a problem with. They sold a very overpriced strawberry milk for 7 dollars after tax that was filled around 60% of the cup when handed to me which is even more of a ripoff. I asked them to fill it up some more and they did by just pouring in more milk, but 7 dollars for flavored milk is not worth it at all and I probably won't go back again. read more

Super busy cafe but has a lot of seating both indoors and outdoors so it may be a hit or miss on whether or not you can get a seat! If you are able to, they have seats with outlets and free Wifi as well! As for the drinks, my friend tried the Tiramisu Latte (9.5/10) and I tried the Rose Matcha (7.5/10). The Tiramisu latte was pretty good but the price was a bit on the higher end. Nothing out of the ordinary for cafes nowadays though. The matcha wasn't bad as well, I liked that it was highly customizable to each individual's preference but I do wish the matcha flavor was slightly stronger. Overall still a good contender! Staff are very nice and the ambiance is pretty good to study! read more

I ordered the tiramisu latte and I had higher hopes than what was delivered. What I did like was that the kitchen was fast, the tables were all clean and there were outlets everywhere for charging. I would definitely recommend this place as a study spot or remote work space, but I would come back and try a different drink. read more

Can't beat the location if you're a Northwood local. This old center is one of the few not owned by The Irvine Company so it's not overrun with box boxes places. Mugs is a great alternative to the same-old green umbrellas a mile away with unique drinks and snacks. The big room in the back makes it even more special giving you the feeling you can take a beat and relax. I think it's always available for small meetings. Only thing that wasn't 100% was the wait even when they weren't all that busy. A little expediency would have aided the experience. That said, it's worth the trek... especially if that trek is on foot just around the loop. Enjoy this hidden neighborly gem. read more

First time at this location's mugs! We ordered an Iced Honey Lavender Latte less sweet with almond milk and a decaf Dalgona Latte with soy milk. At first, I noticed my iced honey lavender latte was quite sweet and kindly informed the baristas. Ethan was extremely kind and remade the drink for me! The remake tasted amazing :) I definitely recommend coming here for a quick pick-me-up or a long study session (it was packed in here at 7:30pm). read more

Picked up a blueberry match and a hot matcha latte. The blueberry had great flavor and fresh blue berries in it. Also grabbed a chocolate chip cookie. It was super light and not too sweet. Cool location for coffee/drinks and hangout. Service was quick. read more

Stopped by here on a Monday morning and they have a kiosk where you can order and pay as well as the option to order at the counter. Love the chill vibe so you're able to meet with a friend and get work done. The strawberry matcha was delicious. I tried their original croffle 4/5 and got a sriracha chicken croffle sandwich to go which comes with potato chips. It was so good! 5/5. I ordered their seasonal drink (i think it was called misu garu). The flavor was pretty good actually, but one sip was half my drink because the ice was filled to the brim. I had a total of maybe 7 sips before my drink was finished, and I don't even take large sips. The photos were taken 3 sips in... So if you order an iced drink, ask for less ice or else you'll be extremely disappointed paying $6 for a cup of ice. My boyfriend got a hot matcha latte, and he said it was pretty good. The ambiance is nice, cute place to come study. I came around 9pm on a Friday night and most of the seats were taken my students with their laptops. They do have plugs near each table, which is very nice. read more

Tried the blueberry cheesecake cream cheese Danish and the filling was disappointing. The cheesecake-to-blueberry ratio was way off--barely any cheesecake flavor, just mostly blueberries. Also, the WiFi here is not good. When I was here there were a group of high schoolers with nerf guns running around the coffee shop - very distracting to those who wanted to study - and not one of the workers said anything. read more

When you walk in, be prepared you may need to place your order at a kiosk. I would've preferred ordering with an employee, but the kiosk was straightforward enough. It was a weekend afternoon so there was a decent wait time once my order was placed. We got the drinks half sweetened, an horchata latte and a tiramisu latte. Both were delicious and very rich and decadent. read more

TL;DR - solid work/study spot but for a causal grab and go, too pricey for me :( DRINK: *tiramisu latte - sooo yummy! not too sweet and that tiramisu flavor was definitely there. i got it with oat milk and it tasted great! super smooth and creamy in texture. 5/5 SERVICE: there was an older woman that helped me the first time i was there and she was super sweet and lovely! 5/5 for her. however...the second and third time i came here it was these two younger girls and they did their job in taking my order but were super loud. i get having fun and all but for a place thats known for studying/working, i just thought it was disrespectful and distracting esp since it was for an extended amount of time. this was from the moment they took my order to when i left a few hrs later. 2/5 for them. WAIT: on average, it takes time around 5-10 mins to order and grab my order. i would say that's not too bad and pretty average! 4/5 PRICE: now this is where i feel this place loses a few points for me. for my one drink, it was almost $9 after tax and tip. it was probably the most expensive coffee i've ever gotten in my life if i'm being honest lol. now the drink was amazing but for $9/cup?? i feel like that's wild. 1/5 read more

A lovely cafe with plenty of space to study and catch up with friends. Right when I walk in, I was greeted by the lovely baristas and made me felt right at home! I enjoyed their honey lavender latte and their ham and cheese croissant. The latte was the right amount of sweetness and a good balance between honey and lavender. The ham and cheese was so fulfilling to eat for breakfast as well! Their jam-like sauce that they give is a perfect addition for sweet and savory lovers like me. I can't speak much to the drinks here because a) I'm not too much of a coffee person and b) I don't usually order anything too crazy. BUT - I will say, when I was recommended this place as a study spot, I was super surprised by the ambience. It's a cutesy little spot that has really blown up over time! I came around 6pm on a Monday and it was packed; I was lucky enough to have a table to myself, but beware if you are coming in a large group. I always find it easy to focus and get work done here. They have free Wi-Fi, delicious bites (peep the sriracha chicken croffle), and some water if you're not feeling anything else. Not to mention, the music taste is elite (I loved being in my feels to Taylor Swift and Lizzh McAlpine). Come give this cafe a try - bonus points that it's open a lot later than most ;) read more

Great service, there was also a kiosk you can order from. Amazing place to study but it does get busy. Lots of plugs and a very popular study spot. Although there is hearable music so make sure to bring your noise cancellation headphones if that distracts you. I enjoyed my drink there too. Open pretty late for the area, would definitely recommend! read more

I've been fantasizing about a good Dalgona Latte for a solid 6 months now and FINALLY I got one at this cute little coffee spot next to where I got my nails done. It was over $7.50 with tip but daaaaaaaaang it's worth it. Sweet honeycomb crumbled over deliciously bitter espresso whipped with milk. Heaven. 25/10 read more

I stopped by after shopping at Zion market and it was packed. Ordered an iced americano and drank it on my drive back home so I didn't notice until I was halfway through that there were specs all over the cup. The picture is dark so it's not visible but the specs (lots!) were in the drink floating around. I know coffee can have oil from the beans but I've never seen something like this. I have visited countless cafes and had americanos 99% of the time and this is the first time I saw this. The only thing I can think of is that they never clean their espresso machine. This is beyond disgusting and unsanitary. I will never return and keeping everyone I know away from this business. read more

The Mugs made its way to Irvine! I liked the coffee shop that was here before Sootha but was glad The Mugs moved in. Soooo much seating and almost an additional conference room of chairs. There's also outdoor seating. I could imagine a lot of UCI kids coming here to study. Drinks were good! read more

Very aromatic specialty coffees that hits the right notes. The croissant waffle sandwiches are good as well for a snack. There's plenty of seating in separated areas, free WiFi, and places to plug in and get some work done but it does fill up inside. Couple of tables to hang out at outside as well. read more

My favorite coffee spot in Orange County. It will be very crowded but don't let that turn you away. The staff is excellent, they are friendly and efficient. Whether you want an espresso, a matcha drink (blueberry is my favorite), or a croffle this is an excellent place. read more

Very busy during a weekday and time of day that you'd think most are working or in school. chill vibe to remote work, meet up with friends or grab a snack. Indoor and outdoor seating. The Berry Sunrise was refreshing and I need more of the black sesame croffle! The pastry melted in your mouth, and the black sesame filling was the right amount of thickness and sweetness - not too much! The cream on top was light and not overpowering. read more

The inside decor of the meeting rooms is cute & there is a reasonable amount of seats inside & outside. Service was average-drinks were made quickly. I got the banana caramel latte and seasonal tiramisu latte. I wasn't impressed-banana coffee was too sweet for my liking. The tiramisu was better with half the sweetness. read more

Change in ownership and perhaps subtle updates to the interior but some things remain the same. Ordered online and took about 25 minutes to complete the order which is longer than would expect for coffee or tea. The service was courteous. But the drink being an iced chai latte was overpriced and rather watered down as neither sweet nor spiced. read more

Don't save money - hire a store manager so mistakes like these don't happen. --- I ordered via app and the drinks were ready for more than 30 mins. Yet I was not able to pick up because they wanted everyone waited at the pick up line. There were 30-40 drinks waiting on the shelf yet they didn't have a good organization in place to quickly match the order with the right drinks. No employee called out any number. People who ordered at the store (not the app) don't have a good way to know if their drinks are ready unless they went back and forth from the end of the line and went back to the store to check on the screen. So even when their order isn't ready, they went to the line and wait, making the line stuck. No manager on site - no one tried to manage the line. Most employees were heads down making their drinks at the back, minding their own business. No self pick up area. The drinks melted and the milk could go bad. People waited in the sun and suffered.

Clear signage or locked access would prevent this kind of confusion. A more polite approach would have also made a big difference. The staff member was lacking courtesy about it. Most drinks, aside from the pour-overs, are around $4.50 to $7, which is a far greater value for what you're getting in sheer quality. There are way too many cafes these days that focus on aesthetics and end up sacrificing quality. This place feels like it's run by people who genuinely love coffee and it shows in every order. There were strawberry slices on top with a few mochi pieces, and a little condensed milk drizzle on top. The middle and bottom layers were just crunchy ice. This was also gravely disappointing. Parking on weekend evenings look to be challenging as it was for me.

I visited Mugs with a friend hoping to enjoy a productive study session, but unfortunately, our experience was quite underwhelming. After spending $16 on two matcha lattes (one strawberry, one banana), we expected a comfortable environment to work and study. However, we ran into multiple issues almost immediately. First, the WiFi was essentially unusable. After several failed attempts to connect, we asked the barista for help and were informed that there is a cap on how many users can access the WiFi at once. We were told to keep refreshing and wait for someone to disconnect. For a café that appears to market itself as a study friendly space, this was incredibly disappointing and impractical. There are so many tables, how do you expect to accommodate to all these people a terrible WiFi plan. Second, there is only one restroom available for what seems to be a fairly large and busy location. We had to wait over 10 minutes just to use it, which added to the frustration. Lastly, the drinks were not up to par. Both lattes tasted watery and lacked the richness or balance you'd expect from a matcha latte, especially at that price point. Overall, while the space itself has potential, the poor WiFi accessibility, limited restroom availability, and underwhelming drinks made this visit frustrating. I recently visited Mugs Café, and while it has some pros, my experience was pretty mixed. First, let's talk about the drinks. I've been wanting to check out this place for a while, and tonight was the night I finally decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, the drinks were okay! I ordered a vanilla latte half-sweet with oat milk, and to my surprise, it was still sweet. My sister, on the other hand, went for a tiramisu latte, and honestly, it tasted more like an iced mocha with cream foam and cocoa powder. Now, I have to say, the space itself could use some improvement. The students seem to take up a lot of the seating, and they're not exactly considerate of others. They often take up large tables and most of the booth areas, leaving no seats available to enjoy your food or drinks. As for the staff, they were okay, but they could definitely use some training on how to be more attentive to customers. The matcha lattes here were once fantastic, among the best in Irvine. However, recent visits have left me with undrinkable lattes, indicating a decline in quality. While some baristas still make decent lattes, many of the newer hires are subpar and in need of retraining. The prices, while average, no longer justify the poor quality. The desserts are mediocre, but I primarily came for the drinks and study environment. Despite ample seating, it's nearly impossible to find a spot. Parking is convenient since it is located in a large center. The original employees were wonderful, but the newer ones have a bad attitude, making the kiosk a preferable option for ordering. As a once-frequent customer who recommended this place to friends, I'm disappointed by the rapid decline in drink quality and will no longer be visiting or endorsing this location. read more

I had a terrible experience this morning at your café. I ordered a latte and a spinach croissant, and after paying, I waited about 10-15 minutes without receiving my coffee. I noticed that others who arrived after me were getting their orders, so I politely inquired about mine. The supervisor responded with an attitude, suggesting I could have a refund and leave if I didn't want to wait. I was shocked and appalled by the way he handled my simple request. guysss this menu looks absolutely amazing. my husband got me an iced caramel macchiato and i nearly chugged it before i could get a picture. i was so indecisive about getting a matcha or coffee. they both look so yummy. i can't wait to go back and try their matcha too. definitely worth going! read more

Lots of seats but crowded around 10 AM. Bit pricey but worthwhile to come. The iced latte was excellent, and the pizza coffee was packed with flavor. Friendly staff. Great experience overall. read more
