We stopped by this spot since we were in the area and luckily found some parking that was close by. They had plenty of options to choose from, but it was a bit of a challenge to figure out what we wanted to order. The breakfast food options all looked so delicious and tasty, but I opted for a matcha chia parfait along with a redeye coffee. We seemed to have come across the breakfast rush in the area, so it took a few minutes for the staff to take our orders and prepare them. Even though it was a minimal wait, the staff was professional, quick, and friendly when it came to taking down our orders, paying, and packing the order. The inside of the shop is cute with some modern touches. The exterior had plenty of spots to enjoy our treats outside--plenty of spots to sit, lounge, and eat. An alternative is to take the items to go. The only challenge would be in finding a parking spot (free parking, but a bit limited). Honestly, if I'm in the area again, I'd consider coming back to try out other drink and food options. read more

I had the most pleasant interaction with the barista there Luis! He was super knowledgeable and gave very good recommendations and fun facts about why they serve and I have NEVER been to a coffee place that uses non dairy cold foam! That immediately sold me! They also can pretty much turn any seasonal drink into a matcha or latte. Im vegan and only drink matcha so this was a hit for me! I don't think I can ever go to another coffee place again. I live close by and usually take strolls through the neighborhood with my pups. The staff in general are always so welcoming and attentive. Their dog friendly environment and ambiance is quite impressive. This is a small shop but honestly has everything you need. STOCKED up with their coffee beans, u like some larger store that are sold out half the time. They have salads that offer a quick lunch, drinks that are right up my alley! Again, thank you Luis!! Pros: Lots of outdoor seating available Plenty of shade for hot days Clean restrooms Handicap accessible Plenty of free parking Open, pet-friendly space with walking and grassy areas Flexible seating. You can easily rearrange tables to suit your needs Great coffee menu with reasonable prices Cons: The Wi-Fi was terrible. I had to use my own hotspot, which was frustrating since most of us come to coffee shops to enjoy a cup of coffee and get work done. Without reliable Wi-Fi, it really defeats the purpose of making the drive here. There was no music, so you can hear everyone's conversations unless you bring headphones. It can get really hot outside Otherwise unless they figure out their WiFi unfortunately I will not be back here for work. Best coffee in the area. I wish there was more Blue Hummingbirds in Irvine in this side of town. Almost feels like every community could have one of these smaller local stores. Absolutely loved this place! The coffee was amazing. Honestly way better than the average big-name coffee chains. You can really taste the quality. They also had vegan pastries, which was perfect for my son who has allergies. It's such a relief finding places that are thoughtful and inclusive with their menu. The service from Luis and Mayo was warm, friendly, and genuinely inviting. They made the whole experience even better. There is an inside area to sit and an outdoor patio, which are both pleasant. It seems like a hip location inside an industrial area, so a lot of business oriented people come to this spot. The service was quick and servers were friendly! The people working inside made me smile! Food ~ STARS 3.5/5 Earthy items to select from such as non-sugared chia seed pudding with granola and fruit. The coffee can be chosen to drink in an in house cup to sit on the patio or in a to go container. I would have liked to have seen more pastries inside the glass container when we were ordering at 11:30 am. I would give this location another try with food when I'm in the area. Parking ~ STARS 4/5 You may get lucky to find a parking spot inside this industrial building complex because there are a bunch of businesses. There are plenty of handicap spots and parking slots just outside the coffee house if they aren't taken by the businesses. Updating my previous 5-star review from when they first opened/had fewer locations. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend them with 5 stars anymore. The drink quality has gone down significantly, and there is now very little consistency between locations. Recent visits have been disappointing, particularly with the vanilla matcha latte, which has had a strange, banana-like aftertaste rather than the quality taste they used to have. Some staff members also seem disengaged and do not make the drinks with care. I hope management can address these consistency issues but in the meantime I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Okay, conceptually, I LOVE this place. Practically? I still love this place bahahaha. Cup by Blue Hummingbird has captured my heart as a neighborhood coffee shop. It's a gorgeous little cafe that's located in the middle of the Great Park. When I lived nearby, I would walk or bike here every other weekend, just to enjoy a combination of the surrounding neighborhood and just the vibes of the shop itself. My friends will tell you I'm a coffee snob, and they'd be 1000% right, and I really do enjoy the 'spro coming out of this place. I think their product is super consistent, and enjoyable enough to be a daily driver. I almost always get an iced flat white, and leisurely stroll back home. The baristas are always pleasant, and they seem like they enjoy working at the spot, so it tends to bring up the mood whenever I go. Sometimes you get the unsavory customer that you have to wait behind, but that's certainly not the shop's fault. They also carry pastries and little snacks if you're looking for something to eat! The matcha was really solid, the right level of sweetness. A little different from your average OC coffee shop, the CUP by Blue Hummingbird is nestled in a a neighborhood of townhomes and condos near the Great Park. It's small, with no indoor seating, but there's plenty of options here. I've had the Hojicha black sugar latte and have tried the signature blue hummingbird latte (espresso or matcha latte with pandan syrup). The black sugar Hojicha latte was unique, as was the blue hummingbird latte, but I didn't get a really strong pandan flavor. They also have a pretty wide selection of baked goods for such a teeny spot. I've had their financier and their vegan donuts, both are tasty. Overall, this is a great spot if you're on a walk in the neighborhood (but there's also plenty of street parking too) but I recommend ordering well in advance to beat the long lines. read more

We got the Iced Blue Hummingbird Latte with Oat Milk and a classic Cappuccino. They also had a lot of specialty drinks and many seasonal ones that I'm excited to try next time. The Blue Hummingbird Latte had a unique flavor. I want to say that there's a savory profile but nothing extreme. It's in the sense that you want to keep drinking it, sort of like when you eat caramel popcorn. The Cappuccino was well made and perfectly balanced, exactly what you hope to expect for a cappuccino. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was cozy. It would be nice if there were some options for seating indoors, especially when it's hot out. Since the cup was first opened, offering free coffees to everyone in the neighborhood just to get their name out. Since then, the combination of their fun and unique seasonal drinks as well as they're amazing Staff and crew has been such a pleasure every morning. I'm able to visit. Today I popped in after dropping my daughter off at Saturday school to surprise, wifey and her mom with some amazing seasonal drink drinks from the Cup. Louis was the captain today at the register and like always guided me toward his favorite seasonal drink, saying it is something that he would drink every morning if he could.
