I'm really disappointed in what used to be my go-to salon. The space itself is nice--comfortable chairs, quick seating, plenty of color options, and I've had some wonderful experiences with certain techs here in the past. But my last two visits left me frustrated, mainly because of the pricing and quality. Today, I specifically told the manager that the acrylics I got last time burned my nails, so I wanted gel instead. They still charged me extra for soaking off the acrylics. The manicure itself took 2 hours, and the end result isn't even great. They added charges for things I didn't request--like a "spa manicure" (which was basically just lotion and a hot towel that washed right off). They also charged for the round shape, soak-off, which I understand is healthier for nails, but it still felt unfair when I had already explained my concerns. I thought they only charged for almond shape but come to find out I was wrong. I expected to pay extra for the cat eye design, but the tech clearly didn't know how to do it. See photo. Every nail looks different, and it took 20-30 minutes just for that step. You'd think a manager would check in at some point for that. More butts in seats=more money. In the end, I paid $75 plus tip. While that's not wildly above local prices, the amount of time it took and the poor quality make it not worth it. Sadly, I won't be coming back. read more

i went for a simple mani/pedi. I waited an hour to be seated while watching 3 people come in after me and being taken care of immediately I was finally and continued waiting until the water got cold. I told the attendant the water was cold but he used it anyway He did no trim or shape my toenails just slapped some lotion and polish on and charged me 58.00 I then waited for a manicure. someone clipped my nails stuck my hands in water and left to help a lady that came in for acrylics. they kept saying 10 minutes 10 minutes I had been there 2 hours already. the pedicure was horrible so I left i skipped the tip because service was horrible and I already gave them 58.00. plus he didn't deserve it. I used to have raving reviews about this place but today was completely different. I brought my mom and sister with me since of course I really liked my past services. My mom got a pedicure with me and my sister got her nails done. My sister's nails were very nice and my mom enjoyed her pedicure but I was doomed from the second I sat in the pedicure chair next to her. The girl I had today not only gave a rough and half attempt on a VERY short leg massage but my entire service was rough and I had to tell her more than once to rub softer or be gentle as she's looking around and filing on the skin on my toes. The bottom of my feet don't look like I just spent money on the upgraded service and I had to ask her to clean up the nail polish on my actual toes, not toenail. I finally got so frustrated I asked her to take the polish off and repaint my right foot. Best part of this whole thing is that after I asked her to take off the messy polish glob on my right big toe, she had the audacity to tell me that it was fine, my toe was just lumpy. Are you kidding me?! Yes, I complained twice. Yes, I made her repaint my toes and no, I did not tip. I would have rather painted my own toes and given myself a pedicure at home. I called around 6:00 pm to see if they knew how to do toenail overlay and if they had availability the lady said yes to BOTH questions I get there around 6:30, I asked them how much would it be they initially said 50 then start trying to convince me of getting acrylic nails on my feet because an overlay wouldn't achieve the look I was looking for (which isn't true because I get overlay every month my lady is just on maternity leave) but seeing that they may have difficulty doing this I said it's ok just do a gel polish it's no big deal they proceed to speak in their language then say they can do the overlay but this time it'll be 80 I thought that was odd but didn't really care because I needed them done last minute for a wedding tomorrow the woman leads me to the back and ask me "CAN YOU PAY FIRST" the shop had all caucasian people in there that have yet to pay so I said did all of these people pay first ? She said no but yours will take a long time I said oh it's ok I'll go somewhere else. I have never felt disrespected in that way I felt strange and uncomfortable I've never been asked to pay before a nail service in my life I truly believe she didn't know how to do what I wanted but was going to try and wanted to ensure she would be paid regardless if I liked it or not which is not right at all if you don't know how to achieve a look that's ok it's always other options. The pedicures are always great, but the couple times I've gotten my hands done here, they don't get done right. Last time I got a cute set of acrylic ombré, but they did the nail too thick and left a bunch of acrylic UNDER my nail that took almost two month to break off (don't judge me for waiting too long to come back lol). I came to get the set taken off and the person kept using another nail to go under the acrylic to pull it up. I said "ouch" like 5x but they kept doing it. They finally started filing them off, but then went back to sticking the nail under the acrylic and finally popped off the acrylic nail BUT ripped part of MY natural nail off in the process. It hurt so much! Now that nail is much shorter than the others and they weren't even failed evenly. I'll recommend the pedis all day long, but I probably will never get my hands done here again. read more

Tried this salon today based on reviews. I had Tony who burned me with the sander thing 3 times. He was very focused on getting done fast. Asked for powder dipped nails in a short, square/oval shape. None of my nails are the same shape. I asked him three times to reshape them so they were consistent length and shape. Speed is definitely Tony's focus instead of consistency. I'm thinking this won't be my nail place after all, unless someone can recommend a different tech. read more

Well look no further, The Nail Lounge is where it's at. First of all, it's really pretty inside with crystal chandeliers and cute wall paper. I called ahead of time and made an appointment for a pedicure. When I arrived I got right in with no wait at all. The salon had lots of colors and services to choose from which I appreciated! Variety is the spice of life!! I had gotten on their website earlier in the day so I already knew what I wanted. I loved their detailed website, I'm definitely the person that researches before I go in. They even had special pricing for kids! Which of course I brought my mini me, she loved it. My nail beds literally hurt from the dip manicure today. The woman, Mai, got dip everywhere all over my cuticles, backs of fingers and especially on the sides of my nail beds. She then took a dirty heavy duty file and basically sawed away the Dip to the point I was literally bleeding and in pain. I had to ask her to stop and pull my hand away. At the end of the manicure she was digging the cuticle tool into my nail beds to get out the dip she missed. I do not remember the last time I had an experience this bad. After I left, I wanted to google the next closest nail salon to fix what she had done because the sides of my nails were hacked off and half my nails are crooked or a weird shape. Also, I was pressured to picking a color within the first 60 seconds I got there ( probably because Mai had an appointment in 30 mins and had the girl waiting next to us for a half an hour- I felt bad she had to wait for so long). When I did pick a color they were out of that one... so I choose another one but was told multiple times that color was "too bright for me," and that this other one was better and cute. The one I chose was "not a good color for me".... Mai kept bringing over powders she didn't have the sample nail to correspond to so it was impossible to know what color I was choosing. So I have a color that I don't want with half my nails missing.... Great. Total waste of money. DO NOT Recommend. read more

Finally, a 5-star nail experience! Woot!! Being the roughneck that I am, I had broken a nail doing Lord knows what while I was up in St. Joe. As I was driving back down, I stopped in KC to rectify the situation. After a thorough Yelp search, I chose this salon, in what turned out to be the best nail shop decision I've ever made. I arrived around noon on a Thursday, and the salon was virtually empty aside from one other patron. I was greeted with a smile as soon as I entered. I told them that I wanted the dip powder nails and I was quickly shown to the nearest seat, offered something to drink, and provided with samples of all the available colors. There were SO many colors and options! From glitter, chrome, and even ombre, to glow-in-the-dark and color changing! There had to be over a hundred different options. I can't tell you how many times I've been told (at other salons) that you can't get chrome or ombre with dip nails. Liars! It took me forever, but I finally settled on Andromeda (DP # 224), thanks to my nail tech's suggestion. It's a color changing powder; my nails are a deep purple when they're cold, but change to a vibrant fuchsia when they're warm. If they're anywhere in between, I get a nice ombre look. It's SO COOL! I really loved my nail tech. My receipt says Jayden (Duy), but he says to call him Mr. Ride? lol We had great conversations and he has an awesome personality. I felt like we were family by the time I left. Not only that, but he really took the time with my nails. Even though there is minimal drilling involved with dip nails, he somehow managed to make my nails so smooth. Even the broken nail, which needed a tip, looked like it was a natural nail. Most salons leave a bump or rise in the nail; not Jayden/Mr. Ride. My nails were literally perfect. I've never been so in love with a nail job. I joked that I'd be flying or driving back when I need my nails done again, but I'd really do it; he's that good. Ahhhhh I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE . I drive over an hour to go get my nails done here and I always walk right in and I never have to wait. They always get my nails done in a timely manner and to my liking. Today my girl Abby did my nails pictured below; I typically don't post reviews but I had to for her because she was just so AMAZING. She did exactly what I asked for and fixed me up. I get my nails done quite a bit and this is by far my favorite set. She was very gentle and detail oriented and she literally got them done so fast!!!!!! Made a reservation for a group of 6 to get pedicures. We were sat quickly, put in chairs next to each other which was nice. Margaritas were complimentary and strong. However, once the pedicures started it went downhill. One of the techs ripped a hangnail off of my boyfriend, leaving an open wound which got extremely infected the next day. I don't know if this was due to unclean tools or what, but his toe was pretty messed up for a few days and he was in a lot of pain. My sisters toenails were clipped so short that skin was cut too, so she was bleeding during her appointment. My cuticles were pushed back extremely rough and that hurt quite a bit, and then my tech clipped them off but also included a chunk of real skin with it They also overcharge quite a bit, a $20 up-charge on top of a $33 pedi just for gel polish is a bit insane if you ask me. But, I will say our nails did look great at the end. read more

Kim has done my nails before and they weren't bad but it looks like a child did them with their eyes shut or something. 6 coats later I am left with lumpy uneven thick nails that she charged me 40 dollars for!!!! I don't know what kind of business let's you walk out like this. Many of my friends and family used to go there and one by one they all had bad experiences and now I see exactly why they stopped going. I am completely at a loss of words...... nails are expensive. I've had my nails done since, well, let's just say since when the only option was having acrylic sculpted over pieces of foil tucked under the tip of the nail... a long time ago. I think the first set took 3.5 hours, but I didn't care. It was my second year in college and I'd always had very thin nails that took an enormous amount of time and mental energy to pamper so I was beyond ecstatic about having nails that didn't need constant attention. Since that day I've never looked back and have had my nails done all over the country. After moving to KC and trying a few salons a neighbor recommended The Nail Lounge. I made an appointment with Kim and from the beginning she's been professional, friendly and provided lovely, strong nails as well as excellent pedicures. I've paid attention, have observed other techs and visited with their clients and from what I can tell the quality of work has been above average and consistently good throughout the salon. I honestly have never heard a complaint inside or outside of the salon. Fabulous service in a clean and happy environment. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Highly recommend. read more

I showed her a reference pic of what I was looking for and she didn't say anything about it looking too complicated and she got started. She asked how my day was but then didn't say anything to me the rest of the service. They didn't end up looking like the picture and instead came out looking rushed and sloppy. On some nails the sides don't have top coat on them and I was charged $88 for them. Some information I would have liked to know, almond is an extra surcharge and I was also charged for a design twice. They (Owner/Mgr maybe) are kinda rude and abrupt when trying to find out what services you are there for when you walk in the door. We called ahead because there was 5 of us this time and others, they have never been prepared. I was rushed thru my services. Very sloppy, hardly trimmed any cuticles and some toenails were lucky to get one swipe of polish especially the clear coat. They talk/laugh (sometimes loudly) to each other in their native language as if you aren't there. Its very obvious sometimes they are talking about you and/or other patrons. I could go on and on about the short comings I and the folks I was with experienced. Sad, that a lot of this is common in nail shops. read more
