The Neighborhood Nest made our Thanksgiving extra special with their amazing gluten-free baked goods. The cherry pie was a standout sweet, tart, and beautifully balanced with a crust that was tender and flaky. Our family friend has severe allergies--it's WAS so difficult to find a safe bakery for them--but The Neighborhood Nest has come thru for 4 years now thanks to TNN, we get a chocolate cake that is gluten free, nut free and no cinnamon! I really love that we have an allergen friendly bakery in the greater Dayton area. The shop is small and cozy. They have a wide variety of gluten free and dairy free options, which are my two allergies. They are primarily a gluten-free bakery, but do service those of use with dairy allergies. They also make some vegan items. I do wish they were closer to my house because I'm rarely out east these days, but I do try to get out there when I'm in the area. I do wish their hours were a little later especially on weekends. It seems whenever I'm over there they close before I can get out there. You can order and pick-up at some other places around the Dayton area too. Overall great allergy friendly foods that taste like the real thing. read more

We went on a Saturday morning for breakfast and the food is excellent! My husband had gluten-free biscuits and gravy. He said it was the perfect amount of pepper and spices in the gravy and just the right amount of sausage. I got the everything quiche which was very light and the crust was great! We were traveling from the Hudson Valley (NY) to Arkansas to see family for the holiday, family I should say who have recently gone Gluten Free due to allergies, and we were in charge of deserts. We used Dayton OH as our midway point, and in doing some research to find a GF Bakery we found The Neighborhood Nest - I thought maybe we'd be able to pull up to the table with a pie or two, but they blew us out of the water with options - so we got them all. Apple Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Roll (great for breakfast w/a cup of tea) a dozen Dinner Rolls & the icing on top (literally) a dozen Cinnamon Rolls!! (which are a BIG thing in my family for the holidays & something my brother in law thought he'd have to give up now that he's GF). The Neighborhood Nest came through for us in a really big way, from the easy online ordering, to letting us pick up the day before we left so we could get on the road early. The most amazing little place! Perfect for anyone who has any kind of food allergy/dietary restriction. Everything is gluten free and there are many vegan items. So many options! Hot breakfast served on Saturdays. Our favorite is the gf biscuits and gravy served every 3rd Saturday. Cookies, cupcakes, donuts, pastries, quiche, a variety of bread options and so much more. The staff is amazing and it is hard to find a true gluten free bakery. If you see it you can be assured it GF. I tried the sugar cookies, carrot cake mini, and whole grain bread. You don't have to be gluten free to enjoy this bakery! They have a great variety. My mom is GF and is a regular here. She is so happy to be able to enjoy her favorite treats again. had to order some cake and Dcakes for my friend's baby shower. My friend is allergic to nuts, gluten, and dairy. Amber had no problem accommodating ALL of that! AND sent her a pretty intricate design from Pinterest (lol), which didn't think would turn out exactly the same.. but literally it is so much cuter in person. the design is magical. the flavors are amazing. she hand stenciled the mandala design and made it like the cutest and most boho/wild vibes ever. I'm so000 impressed. she was really responsive via email. and super nice in person. am 100% going to come back here and use her for literally all of my bakery needs, especially because my sister has celiac disease so gluten is a big no for us. This place is un assuming from the street in the lonely downtown of fairborn. Be prepared to be amazed. The people in here are super friendly and believe in their work. I came here for a friend with wheat allergy, and they were super helpful. Needless to say, my friend said there stuff was so good... the donut tasted like a donut... the cookies... tasted like a cookie. And he has made trips down here on his own without me ever since. If you are looking for a place that bakes from scratch with bake goods that are not tasting like card board, here is the place. I visited Neighborhood Nest on a slow Monday morning. Looking around there was one shekf of fresh items and one case of frozen or "day old" items which were discounted. A gluten free friend recommended the store to me. She trusts Neighborhood Nest as a dedicated gluten free bakery. But she recommended it to me for the dairy free items. All dairy free items were clearly marked as dairy free or vegan. I chose some vegan Rice Krispy treats and some vegan pretzels. We had the Rice Krispy treats ASAP and they were fantastic and extra gooey. Honestly some of the best we've had. I haven't tried the pretzels yet but I'm sure they'll be fantastic too. I had a dairy free birthday cake made last spring and it was not only delicious but gorgeous. The donuts are phenomenal too (and so nostalgic!) If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. Back in august, a very close friend had to go from Massachusetts to Ohio for an unknown amount of time to help take care of a family member. She was there on her birthday, and in a motel. I wanted to try and find somewhere I could get her gluten free treats (we both have chronic pain disorders and gluten makes them worse), and found this place. I explained the situation and asked if they delivered. They don't, but I think the owner(?) said his son would take treats over to my friend as the motel was not far. I was floored. I picked a few items, and after he delivered the treats my friend told me he actually brought a ton of extras items for her. I was even more floored and honestly speechless. I cannot speak on how good the treats were, but she can and raves about them. She left Ohio for a bit and is now back for another undisclosed amount of time, and her moms birthday is soon. I suggested getting her mom things from the Neighborhood Nest and she was fully on board. I am eternally thankful to this mother and son team who brought such joy to my friends birthday during a crazy time in a crazy year. Y'all went above and beyond my expectations and truly were incredible. If I ever find myself in Ohio I will 100% go there. I 150% recommend you go there if you're local or ever nearby. read more
