The Refuge is always a great choice. We come every couple of weeks and the service is always great. The atmosphere is super relaxing and the drinks are next level. Kelsie, the bar manager is an absolute wizard with the drinks. The Refuge Old Fashioned and the Mint Mojito are some of our favorites. We love the smashburger special. We came here on a date night, as they do not allow anyone under 21 to enter. Things I liked: Nicely decorated, loved the comfortable couches and long tables. Lots of seating inside and out. Dimly lit and relaxing ambiance. Food was great! We got the Cajun tots and they were nice and crispy We also got the corn chowder. Thicker than what I am used to but it was really tasty. Loved the cornbread that came with it. I loved my cocktails, delicious! Great service and friendly/attentive server Things I was not a huge fan of: Don't allow kids Charged is $21 for an old fashioned with a caramel candy! Had we known the price difference between that and the regular ones which cost $14. We were shocked and not very happy about that. I like that they have different events and live music. We arrived for live music, they led us to the secret whiskey library downstairs while we waited a few minutes for our table. The live music artist was excellent. What a lovely place! We were greeted at the front & were able to choose where we wanted to sit. There's plenty of options inside and outside. We only stopped in for a few drinks- tried the Old Fashioned, "What the Duck?" Cocktail, Tom Collin's and the Aviation Martini. Everything was delicious and priced fair. This place is gorgeous first of all I love the concept of it being in an old church as well as the huge outdoor seating and outdoor food trucks/ order window for cocktails and live music! We didn't get a chance to try more than the cheese curds and pickle chips on the late night menu but those were solid. What a great new spot in Ridgefield! I love how big it is and the different vibes - you can sit outside for a nice outdoor warm day or you can sit inside for a more moody vibe. Service was great even as it got busier. They have lots of events - when I came they were doing like dancing lessons! The tequila cocktail I chose was a bit on the sweeter side for my taste so I'm eager to return and try one of their old fashioneds! They also have a great mocktail menu. The Neighborhood Refuge, located in downtown Ridgefield, is both a local restaurant and bar with speciality cocktails. You'll want to enter through the doors of the church but there's outdoor seating available with heaters during the winter. We went while there was live music which was fun. We greatly appreciate the staff as they were kind and helpful to make sure we got a seated right next to the heater. They have a wide selection of liquor to choose from so I got my own Classic cocktail. For dinner, I got their main burger which was pretty solid. Curious what it would be like to sit outside there in the summer so may go back! read more

First time here. Sat in the pavilion. Very pleasant, fast & attentive waitress. Nice and warm with the heaters and fireplace. Great creative drink choices. Limited parking. If you want to sit in main building you need a reservation on busy time. Food was good. Mostly typical bar food options out in the pavilion. We haven't experienced the main building yet. The ambiance can't be beat. It's an old church turned into an earrings bd drinking venue. The service is top notch and the food choices are limited but varied. Be forewarned, most of the table tops are small and some of the chairs are just a little too comfortable. read more

This place is pretty cool. It sits on the edge of an overlook into the Ridgefield National Wildlife Preserve, so the views are really nice. The drinks are interesting and well made. The food menu is a little limited, but what they do serve is tasty. We sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and engaged. Such a charming location! I love the stained glass and hanging flower baskets. We were seated quickly and had options. The inside space with its sophisticated bar or outside with the live music. We opted for the covered outdoor space with table service. Seating nearer the music was in the uncovered outdoor space with counter service only. Our server was friendly and our orders arrived promptly. The burgers were pretty good. The wrap for the poppers could have been crisper but we still enjoyed them. I would have liked more blue cheese dressing for the cob and a roomier dish to mix the salad in. Better yet, they could revamp the salad to be a wedge salad. The form factor would work better. We finished with the skillet chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream which was delicious. Finally and most importantly, the cocktails were excellent. Came to check out the place with my SO and my mom (88 yrs old) yesterday and was warmly greeted. Beautiful old church that has been renovated and turned into a wonderful gathering place that gives off moody vibes. Handcrafted beautiful cocktails and excellent food. What an amazing find! First time visiting the neighborhood refuge today and it won't be the last. Nestled near the river in downtown historical Ridgefield, find an old church that has been carefully crafted into a bar, a place to unwind, a place to connect with the community and even nature. A neighborhood refuge indeed! Just wow! To enter you walk through the original entrance of the old church and discover a beautiful bar with deep leather couches, variety of cozy chairs and so much eye candy. Loved the extensive cocktail menu but even better they have mocktails for us non boozy friends. After having a few drinks and enjoying the burger and fries (which seemed like fresh potato style fries) we meandered outside to discover an oasis. AND the outdoor area as well as the secondary covered dining area outside are all dog friendly too. Oh we will be back with our Great Dane in no time. Check out their incredible events (ranging from song bingo, ceramics, jewelry making to concerts overlooking the river). Service was attentive and we lucked out meeting the owner which put a cherry on top of our experience and made this place love at first sight. Cute, fun living room vibe. Definitely a nice date spot. The service was ok, not very helpful with drink suggestions but fine. So, I ended up with a drink I didn't like, although that was personal choice, not that it was a bad drink. This was several months ago when I was there. It was a summer concert on the patio, which was fun. I don't know if wait staff has become more knowledgeable or not about drinks since then. Overall, I would definitely return and try a different drink. I'd love to sit inside in the winter that would be cozy. read more

Just got home after a fantastic evening at the Neighborhood Refuge. It was a private event with the fabulous medium Daniel Monroe. The ambiance was amazing- the owners did a great job revamping an old church into a speak-easy type establishment with an impressive bar, a talented bartender who made the best cocktails and there was even food available! There were 3 special drinks designed especially for this event which was a nice touch. Renee, the owner sure worked hard with waitresses and her husband to see everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves. Ridgefield is lucky to have such a fun and festive place to enjoy hanging out at. Daniel and his team were amazing as always. My only comment is I wish the place was a bit more handicap-friendly. We managed (big thanks to those who helped us, especially with the parking situation). I hope there will be future gatherings featuring an evening with Daniel. I am interested in re-visiting the Neighborhood Refuge to take in some live music! It was a memorable and fun evening! read more

Horrible experience!! We made a reservation at 6:15 pm tonight - 8/9/25 first time ever . We walked in stood there literally for 10 minutes before we were even greeted. The gal seats us crammed up against two other tables. We literally felt like we had people sitting on top of us. There were other open spaces to sit not sure why they seated us there needless to say it was very uncomfortable sitting close to people you don't know and could hear conversations as I know then they could hear our's . Waitress comes gives us two menus for food and beverage 10 minutes later we orders our drinks we waited quite a while probably 20 minutes for our drinks and then she left us again. Came back about 20 minutes later and took our food order. We ordered the refuge hamburger the goat cheese salad And we shared and with two drinks it came to $74 - no joke.!! Our food came about 30 minutes later. Our burger was lukewarm. The tater tots were cold. We had asked for an extra plate that never came until later. We had to ask twice for water and no one bothered to ever come by and ask us how our food was. we're starving !! we ate the food that was presented to us.. It was tasty, but it was cold.. this place was not busy at all. Our waitress hardly acknowledged us after she took our food order. Someone else came along and delivered it.. needless to say we will not be returning!! horrible experience from beginning to end this place in my book is overrated and overpriced. read more
