Stopped by for happy hour after not coming here for over 3 years and honestly forgot how much we liked this place. We showed up right at 4 PM, asked to sit outside, and were seated promptly. Our server was super friendly, bubbly, and very sweet, which made the experience better. I ordered 4 appetizers and 2 drinks. Drinks came out quickly, and the food was great once it arrived, though it did take a little longer than expected. My only downside was ALL the outdoor tables were pretty dusty and dirty (maybe from just the breeze from outside), and we ended up wiping them down ourselves with table cloths on our table before sitting. Overall, everything was great and we'll definitely be back, but will most likely choose to sit indoors next time. Glad we rediscovered this spot!

The steak was a prefect medium rare and charred, and the tomato jam an acidic and sweet compliment. Such a different take than the usual ribeye preparation and I really enjoyed it. Asparagus and potatoes were also both prepared perfectly. Elk and pork ragu was not gamey at all. More like a stroganoff cream sauce with meat in it. Also enjoyable. Service was great, very attentive staff despite being fairly busy. Ambience was not loud at all. A quieter, more romantic vibe. All around a great option for dinner service in Vancouver.

Absolutely beautiful here. Great food and wonderful staff. Truly the best hash we have ever had. Something about their dijon sauce leaves you wanting more. The halibut was perfectly crisp, flaky and steaming hot. The fries(chips) were addicting.

I am a business traveler and I've been coming to the Heathman Lodge every year, 26 years, to be exact. On my visits I always dine at Hudson's for at least one evening meal. There are 2 seating areas, one inside the restaurant which has a nice feel and is visually pleasing. The other seating area is in the hotel lobby under the stairs, which is weird and feels like you're having dinner in a hallway. For what it costs to dine there, I'm not going to eat in a hallway/hotel lobby/under the stairs. Servers are usually attentive and the food is good but I think it's overpriced for what it is. $37 for a 3oz piece of fish on mashed potatoes with 2 stubs of broccolini is just too high, IMO. The least expensive entree on the menu is $24 or $27 and that is meatloaf. Its good, but not worthy of that price point. For a salad, an entree and a glass of wine it was over $75. If you're looking for a special night out and are prepared to drop some bank for small portions in a nice setting then this is the spot for you.

I came here for brunch with my wife. The atmosphere is open and lively with a cool PNW cabin feel. Really cool artwork on the walls, complete with a replica of a Native American canoe! Our server was young and energetic and very easy to talk to. She helped steer me towards the eggs Benedict, which were a great recommendation. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the hollandaise sauce was perfection. Aside from grilling about the steel prices (pretty standard for hotel restaurants), I'll keep Hudson's on my short list for local eateries. Also, it's been a long time since I've attended, but they have a great happy hour with decent prices.

A first for breakfast at the Hudson. Nice restaurant adjacent to the Heathman Hotel in Vancouver. Beautiful wood paneling and tables. We had reservations for 10 and were quickly seated. Waitress was very tentative to our needs and making sure our orders were delivered correctly. Impressed she never wrote anything down with a table of 6. We all received our meals and amazed how large the servings and plates were. With that said, my husband and I couldn't finish our breakfast. Too much delicious food. Disliked having to leave food on my plate. Food is not cheap. But, overall the food was delicious. Others ordered Eggs Benedict and a Cheese Omelet.

Liked the overall vibe of the restaurant with the lodge feel and the fire places. The service was a little slow but everyone was nice. The food was good. Large portion sizes. I'd come back again for a nice breakfast.

We went with a large group and Kale our server was so great. Very accommodating with splitting the bill and keeping our drinks coming. The special, hazelnut crusted halibut, was so good with the lemon sauce. Ambience was great and not too loud. We were able to keep the conversation going across the table of 12. RSCVU

We stayed at Hudson's and had their happy hour and a small brekky before going home. All of the food was phenomenal! The servers are attentive, friendly and helpful. The vibe is cozy cabin rustic chic.

There are three separate rooms with fairly ample tables and a bar in the first two. You order at the counter. The pinball machines are in the back room. It's a cool looking place. I didn't take many photos because there were enough people there that I didn't want to infringe on privacy. They have a happy hour from open until 5pm. We arrived at 4:30 and had no problem getting a table. The happy hour has food and drink specials. We ordered the gin gimlet and the Paloma to drink and the chicken nugz Nash style and the fries. I was impressed by their drink menu--there's something for everyone. The chicken nugz were that standout--moist chicken breast and great crunch on the outside. The Nash sauce was spicy/sweet and there was a ranch dipping sauce. The basket of nugz was huge! Definitely enough for 2-3 people. The fries were okay. If you pay $12, you get a wristband to play pinball. I can't remember the last time I played pinball, but the great thing is you don't have to have any sort of talent to play--it's just a fun time! You can play single or multiplayer. No problem getting onto a pinball machine, they have ample. A fun time all around and the staff was great! Highly recommend for a night out.

We got the "free play" wristband, which allowed us to play about 25ish classic pinball machines in the back room. Unfortunately, the skee-ball machines (my weakness) and the Godzilla pinball were in the front of house and not included. The wristband was a good value, and I found a few machines that I enjoyed. Overall: + Free play wristband + Over 21 venue + Good selection of machines - It was uncomfortably hot in the pinball room - no AC or fan. - One of the games didn't have a right flipper button, so the only option was to stick your finger in a hole, which weirded me out. - A few machines weren't working when I cycled back

The area has developed quickly and having grown up nearby and moved away years ago, it's amazing to see what's happened along here. Prices - well, everyone has their hand out along here. We were in town somewhat last minute staying at Hotel Indigo. The hotel provides $10 drink coupons so we decided to drop in for an impromptu drink while planning our dinner strategy. It was already 7p so no view but live music and a nice buzzy ambiance. Wait staff were fast and friendly, and before we knew it two delicious cocktails were in front of us. At the same time, I overheard the waitress at the table beside us saying that food could be ordered from El Gaucho downstairs. So we asked for a menu and started perusing. If you don't know El Gaucho it's a classic steak restaurant with lots of cuts and sizes, a sprinkling of seafood, the usual salads, and tableside this and that. A notch above Ruth's Chris, Morton's or The Capital Grille but with Peter Luger Manhattan prices. Yes, that's right, Manhattan prices in Vancouver. WA. The Couv is all grown up. Or at least trying to be, Like Witness Tree, El Gaucho has a mandatory 20% gratuity regardless of party size. Theoretically this shouldn't be an issue if you know restaurant culture and tip appropriately but I think a mandatory fee rubs many wrong to assume service will always be at that level. And on top of very high prices. A $72 6oz filet is $86, so those 8 bites better be damn good. That said, we ordered oysters, a filet, seafood pasta, and wine. The wine list was decent but not as extensive for a premium steak restaurant. Wines had the typical markup which meant $20-35+ per glass. Both the pasta and steak were good but - and this may sound picky - at $72 for 6 ounces of steak (a bar of soap) I expect perfection which means medium rare throughout. The steak was medium in some parts. If I can achieve medium rare throughout at home it should be possible here. So here's the math (rounded) for those interested. Total bill: $295. $225 food and drinks, $45 service fee (mandatory 20%), and $24 tax (8.8%). Interestingly, the 20% service charge is taxed which means we actually paid $49 or 28.8%. Had I been given the choice of my own 20% tip it would be applied to food and drink and a slightly lower bill. Not a huge deal but these are the little details - call it "nickel and diming" patrons - that rub many wrong. One note - another server came to our table before our food arrived and placed a steak in front of me. Before he could place the other dish I told him it wasn't our order. He picked up the steak and delivered to another table. In most restaurants - and certainly in a premium setting - that dish should have been remade. Whether perception or simple hygiene you simply can't do that. All in all, the Witness Tree was a nice spot, with tasty cocktails and ambiance. Prices and service fee will be off putting for some, and not sure this would be my go-to as there are many rooftop / view options nearby.

Intentionally set earlier in the day understanding the significance of the day. (Been together over 20 years.) When we arrived my husband kindly requested a window table with view of the water. The woman taking the reservation info advised that she would try, but "so busy" etc. We were sat at a half circular booth that was facing water but set back from water. I just want to note there were 7 tables open at window seating. 3 of which were 2 tops. We did have 3, so essentially for us, 4 EMPTY tables could have accommodated our request. 2 remained empty the entirety of our meal. So I just can't understand why this request wouldn't be granted. Waitress we were assigned was amazing. On top of things, refills etc. We got the wing appetizer, cheese curds, and the wedge salad as appetizers. They were all good. The wings I would get with no sauce. The sauce on them was very ketchup reminiscent. For the entrees we both did the steak frites. Fries were amazing. The steak was sooooo tough. Medium rare didn't save them. Our child got the half pizza and demolished. For dessert we got the cookie with ice cream and the valentines special cheesecake. Both were delicious. Overall 3.5. Could use some help at front. If you don't realize you have that many free tables and could easily accommodate a paying customer the table they prefer, it just simply doesn't make sense. At the end, I did ask manager why we wouldn't be able to sit where we requested and there really was just no good reason. It was just a shrug like it was a busy day. Like I guess maybe saving for make believe guests?? LOL unreal. It's not often I would question things. But this was just absurd. Again, I need to say, our waitress was amazing. Food was fine. Just a very weird experience as far as seating. Like who are you saving those seats for?? Anywho. Enjoy!

Honestly, that seemed fair to me. However, things quickly went downhill. I offered to pay the game fee, but was told I needed to buy drinks first. I explained we had just bought drinks--he had literally served us minutes earlier. His response: "You need to have an open tab, and we won't let you play unless you order more."
