We were really excited to try The Neighborly after hearing such good things, but this ended up being one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had in a long time, especially considering we spent over $100. When we first walked in, we were told the wait for a table would be 20 to 30 minutes. That would have been totally fine, but there were multiple open booths and tables in plain sight. To avoid making a big deal out of it, we decided to just sit at the bar. The frustrating part was watching those same tables sit empty the entire time we were there. The service was extremely inattentive. I had an empty Diet Coke sitting in front of me for at least 15 to 20 minutes before my girlfriend finally had to flag down a bartender to get it refilled. The staff overall seemed very out of sync and not very aware of their guests. The food didn't make up for it either. My girlfriend ordered the crispy grouper sandwich after the bartenders told us it was fantastic, but it came out overcooked and dry. I got the bacon cheeseburger and it was just as disappointing. The bun was falling apart, the fries were cold, and the burger itself wasn't good. I'm usually not someone who leaves negative reviews, and I spent years working in the service industry, so I understand that off nights happen. But there's a basic level of attentiveness and food quality that you expect, and this visit missed the mark completely. We won't be back. read more

Ridiculous, would not return. Came here with a reservation for a NYE dinner. I booked a time slot for 8:30pm and upon arrival was greeted and seated. It wasn't until a second server came to our table around 8:50pm to let us know the kitchen closes at 9:05pm and would need our food orders in by then to eat... I'm sorry, what? Why would you even take a dinner reservation at 8:30pm when you close at 9pm. The server was constantly coming to the table badgering us to order. We had to order everything under pressure, including our dessert. Mind you we put our order in at exactly 9:05pm, food was at our table by 9:10pm, and I'm not joking you she brings the desert at 9:20pm and sets it right in front of me where I'm eating my dinner. I came here on a Saturday morning for brunch. We have the option to sit indoors or outdoors and we decided to sit outside in their nice patio with booths. We started with a Vietnamese coffee and a bloody Mary. The coffee was watered down which I was not a big fan of. For food we did the chicken fried steak and the breakfast scramble bowl. My chicken fried steak seems like there was a lot of breading along with it being on top of hash browns and biscuit (no jam or butter) there just was not enough gravy which just made the meal seem too dry. The breakfast scramble was good but not enough has browns so the proportions were a little off on each dish but nonetheless still tasty. For dessert we ended up with a cinnamon roll which they mentioned they usually sell out of. In my opinion it was a little bit more on the dry side but the pecans were a nice touch and it definitely added to the flavor. I ended up taking the cinnamon roll home and enjoying with milk which made that much more of a difference. I would like to come back to try more items because I feel like this may have been an off day. read more

We had a birthday party!!! I heard many good things about this place. We had reservations and thank goodness we did. The place on a Friday night filled up pretty quickly. They have so many times on the menu that I would love to eat but I only eat so much during one meal. We did not see the chowder fries on the dinner menu. NO.... The server was so sweet, she put the order in for us anyways. Yeah, Chowder Fries is what is sound like plus bacon and green onions. It was outstanding unique and flavorful. I decided to get the Collins Bros Prime Rib - served with veal bone au jus with a loaded baked potato with everything for my side. Wow, the prime rib melted in my mouth and the au jus sauce was the best. I would order this item again. Put me on repeat! We ordered the dark chocolate toffee brownie (ghirardelli dark chocolate, handmade caramel, sweet p's vanilla, toffee crumbles, & sea salt flakes) and the Oreo mousse cake (they said it was gluten free). What a find! Always looking for cute hip and trendy places so imagine how delightful it was to find this place in an old neighborhood i grew up in! The place it self it absolutely stunning, the staff and service was top notch no complaints whatsoever. The menu.... I struggle to find places that my husband and i can enjoy as he is a vegetarian. I was so impressed by the options on the menu for him. And trust me when i say he was a happy camper with his meal. He enjoyed the twisted noodles with no protein of course and i had the joy of trying the special which was a ribeye with a loaded baked potato. I opt out of the loaded and went with butter. Had such a great evening tonight. I stumbled into the all day happy hour on Mondays. Chloe was my bartender. Super great service, very friendly attentive and always made sure I was taken care of. Other people at the bar seemed to know her and also were as favorable in their opinions as I was. I was in my mood for the baked potato on the cold rainy day so I came here. Always a nice large potato with a skin salted just slightly before baking. A generous amount of sour cream butter and cheese on the top. I always wish there's a little bit more bacon (across the board for this restaurant company) At some point I should ask for a little bit of a side. It was a pleasant prize about the happy hour specials. I enjoyed wine and a couple of mini martinis. All of which were delicious. The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded. It's my new go to spot for HH. And brunch. Excellent service, and special mention to Wyatt, our awesome server! Cinnamon role was the best I have had in recent years. Loved the ambiance and vibe of this restaurant. We didn't sit on the patio but would love to next time! We started off with the cornbread which was amazing, highly recommend. For entrees, we ordered the bacon cheeseburger and the sesame encrusted tuna. While both were tasty, the burger came with tomatoes and raw onions when we had asked for grilled onions and no tomatoes (made this very clear). I loved the ahi tuna and the noodles that came with it had great flavor but noodles were cooked a bit too al dente. Still a great place overall and would love to try other dishes! read more

The staff wasn't very friendly, and even though the restaurant was mostly empty, they acted like it was a dinner rush. My second visit to The Neighborly was this past Saturday. I made a reservation for 6:30. We arrived early and were immediately seated. The vibe in this restaurant is low key. It's not too noisy making it easy to have a conversation. Our server was Dolly and she's great. Even remembered me from my last visit. The cornbread is heavenly - the butter melting on top with the crispy edges feels very decadent. I ordered the braised short rib - so perfectly fork tender and delicious. My daughter ordered the sesame crusted ahi tuna which was also delicious. The side salad that came with the tuna had a wonderful zing to it. To round out our celebratory dinner, we ordered butter cake. It was quite tasty but would have been better had it been brought out warm so the ice cream could have melted into it. First of all this place is decorated so beautifully and the color scheme is fabulous! The staff was super friendly and throughout our visit there it looked like everyone was really in sync and helped everyone else out with tables, drink deliveries, and food deliveries. As far as the food goes, this was fantastic and perfectly portioned , balanced and prepared. We got the prime rib, the Aji tuna, and the pumpkin pie. The flavors of each were incredible. The portion sizes were perfect, we both ate our entire meal and did not feel overly full. The prime rib was served rare and was melt in your mouth delicious, the lamb bone au jus that it came with balanced it perfectly. The pumpkin pie was phenomenal. My husband and our two children showed up Sunday evening at 5:30 hoping to enjoy dinner here. We were greeted by the less-than-friendly hostess who asked if we had reservations. We did not. She told us she had other people with reservations coming in and would not be able to seat us. We were not offered the option of waiting, nor was any effort made to at least pretend to accommodate us. My husband and I both noticed, however, that on the patio there were 3 empty tables as well as two parties finishing up. Inside, there were at least 5 empty tables that could have accommodated us as well. I can't imagine that there were so many reservations scheduled for that time that we couldn't have been squeezed in somewhere. If reservations are required on a Sunday at 5:30, maybe state that reservations are required on your website. We will not be returning. read more

It's part of the Common Ground Culinary group which has about 8 restaurants in different neighborhoods! This is the second restaurant in this group that I have visited so far! I don't usually leave negative reviews, but our experience at The Neighborly was bad enough to warrant one. From the moment we sat down, we were met with cold, unwelcoming energy. Our bartender didn't smile once, barely acknowledged us, and made no effort to be hospitable. It felt like we were a burden just for being there. She took an unreasonably long time to greet us, didn't offer water... There was no warmth, no attentiveness -- just indifference. We sat there feeling ignored and unwelcome, unsure whether to wait it out or leave. Thankfully, we decided to walk next door to Doughbird -- and the difference was immediate. We were greeted with a warm smile and promptly offered a cold glass of water. The service was attentive, friendly, and genuine -- everything The Neighbor lacked. Honestly, it's a shame. The Neighborly might have a nice-looking space, but without even basic hospitality, the experience is completely ruined. We won't be back. P.s the cornbread was good though. read more
