Fire. Absolute FIRE. My wife and I stumbled into this place after a rave at around 1:00 AM, hungry and looking for something more substantial than typical late-night food. What we found was an absolute gem. The atmosphere was cozy, dimly lit, and comfortable, while still having enough energy to feel lively and fun. It was fairly quiet when we visited, but that's to be expected at 1:00 in the morning. We ordered the fried risotto balls and a pepperoni pizza, and proceeded to absolutely demolish every last bite. To this day, I'm still not sure whether it was the late-night munchies or if the food was genuinely that incredible. Either way, the result was the same: not a crumb was left behind. This was one of those unexpected finds that immediately earns a spot on the return list. We'll absolutely be back. Hidden gems are hard to find, and this place feels like one of them. read more

Wow, I can't believe this place has been here since 2013 and I didn't know about it. The pizza is amazing. I had high hopes when I walked in and saw the authentic and enormous beautifully tiled Italian wood fired oven. We were planning on going to a nearby bar for drinks and wanted a close place before to carb load. So glad we did because it was incredible pizza. We ordered 4 individual but generous pizzas for the 4 of us. Spoiler alert! there was NO left overs. We started with the classic Margherita which is simple sauce and hand pulled mozzarella with a big Fresh Basil leaf in the middle. So basic and so perfect. The pizza had a nice crispness on the outside but a super soft tender chew once you bit in. A great start to the evening. We then had the Diavolo which added Spicy Supressata which introduced a little heat but very flavorful. Next up was a vegetarian dish, the Artichoke pizza made with house-pulled mozzarella, lemon ricotta, parmesan, pomodoraccio tomato, artichoke hearts, spinach, red onion. Super flavorful and a fantastic non meat option. Finally, we finished with the Calabrese Pizza which is a blanco pie (without the red sauce). It had house-pulled mozzarella, parmesan, taleggio, caramelized onions, sweet italian sausage, calabrian chili, evoo, basil. This was a table favorite even though it did not have sauce. I little more heat than the Diavolo but the telegio added some depth of flavor and the ground sausage was plentiful and delicious. So eager to dive in, I didn't get a pic but that a bianco pizza would be a table favorite says a lot. Service was great and one of the owners stopped by several times to make sure we were satisfied and we definitely were. Although we ate all the pizza, we did not feel stuffed as there was an amazing lightness to the crust. We will absolutely be back for this truly authentic pizza. read more

We decided to try out Nook kitchen today. We have driven by here 100 times and found the time to stop in today. It was recommended that we make a reservation, however, when we arrived on this Sunday afternoon at 1:30, it was not busy at all. Matter of fact, there was just a large table of six people and one other small group on the other side of the restaurant, so Sunday might be the prime time to come. They have a huge pizza oven in the corner, we'll have to come back and give that one a try. But today their lunch menu has a fried chicken sandwich that they were able to amend to be a grilled chicken sandwich and it comes with a Pomodoro dipping sauce- interesting! It was very good Husband had a meatball sandwich which was very filling But honestly, the star of the show was the soup of the day which was a chicken, orzo and vegetables in a tomato broth base. He said they don't make the same soup twice, lol so we actually got a bowl of it to go so I can have some tomorrow and see if I can reverse engineer it, lol. Billy took good care of us, although he accidentally forgot our Arincini appetizer which he then comped, not a problem at all- he brought them anyway and I'm glad he did. They were super creamy on the inside and yummy. My only complaint about this place is that I can imagine it gets very loud! Even with so few people in there with a large party seated at the booth they were incredibly loud and it was difficult for us to even hear each other. I will say, I loved the music that they were playing, foreigner, Don Henley, etc. perfect Sunday kind of music! I had a glass of wine and hubs had a beer and our total bill was $78. Went to this place to use my Amex Resy credit and was thoroughly impressed. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Nicholas, The, GM, went out of his way to make us feel welcome and service from Rachel, our server, was excellent. Although not pictured, we had the brussels sprouts chips and olives for our appetizers, both of which were amazing. The brussels sprouts were the best I've had. I'm a fan! I've done carry-out so far and I'm loving the food and service. Ordering for lunch during the week the food is always ready, freshly prepared, and so so good. The service is great. I'm greeted as I walk in and taken care of for a quick transaction. I've placed the order over the phone and my food is always ready on time. The chicken sandwich is amazing. I need both hands to hold it so the portion size is perfect. I appreciate tjat the chicken breast is not processed chicken. The sandwich is light in that is not heavy from the batter, oil or bread like at some other restaurants. What sets this sandwich off is the vodka pomodoro sauce to dip it in. Mmm Mmm. This was so good, I drank what was left so it wouldn't go to waste. :) I enjoyed the side of house chips. Very fresh and light as well. I have also tried a half salad with this sandwich but I prefer the chips. They hold up well for a couple of days if there are some left over. I visited Nook Kitchen with my family to celebrate my little sister's birthday, and overall it was a mixed experience. We started with three appetizers -- the roasted olives, calamari, and arancini -- and honestly, the appetizers were the standout of the night. I especially loved the roasted olives, and my sister couldn't stop talking about how good the arancini were. For entrées, we ordered a pizza, carbonara, piccata, and a salad. These were all okay, but nothing really stood out or felt memorable compared to the starters. We brought our own birthday cake, and there was a $2 per person cake-cutting fee. Our waitress, though, was wonderful -- super nice, quick, and very attentive, which we really appreciated. One downside is the parking. The lot is crowded, the spaces are tiny, and there aren't many spots available, so getting in and out wasn't the easiest. All in all, I might come back, but probably just with friends for drinks and appetizers since those were definitely the highlight. read more

It's restaurant week!!! So, we ended up having the 3 course meal. I started with the watermelon and tomato salad (excellent), then moved on to the vegan rigatoni. The menu has a coconut cream sauce vegan pasta dish that is no longer available but replaced with the new one that as you can see from my photo is a red sauce. Good but not great. What was great was my husband's pizza! Wowza. Loved it. I now have a new favorite pizza place! Lastly I ate my dessert of a skillet cookie with ice cream. Good grief this was ridiculously bad (as in GOOD). Melted chocolate chips in an oozing cookie and still warm. Trust me, just order it. You will love it. I did! Our waitress was top notch! We had other wait staff checking in with us, which was super nice, but our waitress was attentive and friendly. We sat at this huge round half circle bench seat, which was difficult to slide into. I like the vibe in this place. There was only one downside to this restaurant, parking. Unfortunately, their parking lot is rather tiny! You will probably have to park on one of the side streets when the place is busy (or if you come after 8 pm when you can use the restricted parking spaces). When we entered the restaurant we were greeted and seated immediately (as we had a reservation-highly recommended). Our waitstaff were all awesome and service was provided with a smile every time. Reserved table through Resy and still we had to wait for 10 mins for table to be clear. Not the very great first experience. Here are my takes: Food/Drinks: Ordered 2 appetizers, 1 pizza and a cocktail. Food was no doubt delicious. No complaint at all for anything. Great quality Italian food. While the cocktail was disappointing. Waiter acknowledged that they ran out of garnishing for our drink and also it was very sweet and tasted like juice. Service: Waiter was very nice to us. Welcoming, explained everything, recommended us as well. Service was quick and he checked on us as well multiple times. Ambiance: While the place interior is well done, but how loud it gets here makes it less appealing for families or folks who prefer some silence. I would not recommend this place just for this reason. Hygiene: Overall it was clean but our table was cleaned in rush and it was wet when we were seated. Had a great time having family dinner here on a Saturday evening. The place is somewhat small inside but we had a huge booth and plenty of room for the 6 of us. We started off with some calamari for the table, which was cooked very well. The sauce actually had a nice kick to it that I personally really enjoyed. For the entrees, everyone enjoyed their dishes. However, the shrimp scampi was a little on the thicker/drier side. My oxtail gnocchi was perfect though! Very tasty! For dessert, definitely get the banana cream pie. From start to finish, a great experience. All the staff was so friendly and courteous including the parking attendant. Our waiter was exceptionally wonderful, knowledgeable about the different menu options, and gracious enough to go along with some of our corny jokes. He even brought out a complimentary order of Brussels sprout chips because he said the wait for our appetizers was too long, but we actually felt like they arrived in a reasonable amount of time, so that just goes to show the high standard they uphold for themselves and their service. We came as a party of 9 which included 5 adults, 3 kids, and a baby and the booth they sat us at was very spacious and even had enough room to accommodate a high chair without feeling like we were in the way of other customers and staff members walking by. Last but not least, the food and cocktails were so delicious! I personally had the short rib ravioli which the description is spot on when it says one giant ravioli, because that's exactly what it is. If you're expecting a more traditional ravioli this might not be the dish for you, but I personally loved it and would order it again the next time we dine here. read more

This was a great place for a date night with my wife. The food was pretty good. My wife ordered the Alfredo (with salmon), and I ordered the Sunday Gravy. The Alfredo was made to near perfection, with a creamy base and perfectly done noodles. \I was slightly disappointed with the Sunday Gravy. There were a lot of rougher bites where I had to pick out tendons from the meat, and it disrupted my meal for sure. The service was very good. We were never waiting for too long or wondering when we would be helped. They were very prompt. As far as value goes, I'd say things were slightly overpriced for the quality of food. The Nook was just ok for me & my group. Granted it was a Saturday night but the place was so loud it was tough to talk with people in our group of 8. Service was ok nothing terrible but nothing to write home about. Food was average especially when compared to all the competition in the area. I ordered the espresso rubbed filet medium and it was super well done and dry (bonus you're bound to get espresso in your teeth so bring a toothpick!) The atmosphere is a cool neighborhood vibe and they are open for lunch so I'll definitely come back to experience a different time of day, different order, and smaller group and I'll update my review! We were looking for dinner after stopping for drinks at Century Grand, and decided to stop in here. It was early enough that there was no crowd, but the crowd was definitely coming as we were leaving. This is a pretty small place. There is a bar when you first walk in. On one side of the dining room there are high tops and one very large booth, and on the other side it's mostly banquettes. There is a big pizza oven in the corner. There's also very large patio in front with seating. There were so many delicious things on the menu, and we ended up with the caccio e pepe with chicken and the linguine meatballs. Both were absolutely delicious! I serve her was great and our food came out quickly too. Will definitely have to come back. There is very little parking, although they do have valet parking. Not sure where they put all the cars, but we did notice that they park cars without handicap placards or plates in the handicap parking near the front door. I feel like those spaces should stay open for people who need them, instead of being used for valet parking. Not sure that it's ADA compliant? read more

The slices were cut thin so they were flimsy for adding the burrata. We split the fettuccine which I wouldn't recommend. It was just lacking depth and the chicken had such a strong burnt flavor. We decided we should've ordered more of a speciality pasta to give them a fair review. The pizza was good definitely a favorite of mine for the meal. The middle of the crust was a little soft but I'm not picky about that as long as the flavor is there. We are big ranch people but this one wasn't great. I think the best part of this restaurant experience is the ambiance. The inside is tastefully decorated and modern. Servers were friendly with a good knowledge of the menu to be helpful. The disappointing thing about our visit was that the pizza oven was not working which eliminated a lot of choices from the menu. To start we had the meatballs to share which were a little under seasoned for my taste. For an entree I had the Cacio e Pepe with chicken. I was warned by the server that this is best eaten fresh because of how it is cooked. However, I was disappointed with the flavor and texture of the dish. I found the cheese to be overcooked that left an unsavory mouth feel with every bite. Additionally, I thought the dish was lacking in flavor. Someone else at our table had the bolognese which I thought had a much better flavor profile. He did ask the server if it could be done arrabiata style which added a great spice element to the dish. To finish we'd shared the peanut butter blondie which was exceptional and I would highly recommend this for your dessert. All things considered perhaps I just had a bad experience with my dish. Been wanting to try this place for a while as I always drive by on my way to Pilates. I stop by with my husband on a Wednesday night and we sat at the bar so he could watch the NBA finals. Service was great and the bartender really helped us decide what to order since we were in between a couple of dishes. I got the lemon chicken piccata with fettuccine and my husband got the oxtail gnocchi. I loved both but I would run back to get the oxtail gnocchi. The gnocchi were so good and the sauce was a flavor bomb. It was a little salty but the flavor was so good so they get a pass. The restaurant is on the smaller side, with dark moody vibes. We came here on a Friday for lunch and they had a decent crowd. The bartender was serving the entire place and he was killing it - so amazing at his job and didn't miss a beat. Also such a nice guy, made conversation with us at the bar and even recommended some places for us to go during our stay in the Phoenix area. We started with the chopped salad and it was really light and flavorful. The steak and frites was delicious I wanted more of the steak - plenty of fries which I ate because they were also good but I wish there was more of the steak! I guess since it's listed as an app that makes sense that it wasn't huge. Late night visit to Nook, andddd this is what could be considered a hidden gem! The ambiance is top tier, very chic, very sexy, definitely a cool spot to hang out and catch up with friends. Or impress your date. The owner, great, friendly and hands on along with the wait staff, our server made sure we were good to go multiple times throughout the visit, both were very attentive. Drinks stayed full, the cocktails were made perfectly, not too sweet, but the right balance of alcohol to mixer ratio. Also "Reverse Happy Hour" is genius, had it not been a long day and I'd been tired I definitely would've taken more advantage of the HH. Now most importantly let's talk food! First off, wowwww!! I've never heard of "Brussel chips" but they were roasted to peak deliciousness along with the spicy aioli that wasn't too hot but very flavorful. I had a Caesar salad that was very crisp, very crunchy with just the right amount of dressing and croutons. I love Caesars and this didn't disappoint. Hands down a great starter before getting into the Calabrese pizza which was so so good, the crust was seasoned just so with crispiness and softness between the slice and the crust. I can't remember what type of sausage was used, but just know it was delicious with a baby kick of spice to wake up your palate. There was also a DJ and as a DJ myself I'm a sucker for restaurants with a live DJ. So I'm telling you, if you live in Phoenix, go to Nook! If you're visiting Phoenix, GO TO NOOK!! The vibes were on point, head nodding the entire time (props to the DJ, show him this please). The food was amazing, starters and drinks also great. The salad we ordered wasn't available so we had to get the Italian Chopped instead and it was a blessing because this salad was amazing! It really hit the spot we just wished we got the large instead of the half! Next we got the Sausage Pizza and the crust was delicious. I really wanted to like Nook Kitchen, but my experience was unfortunately disappointing from start to finish. First, I was placed on a 7-minute hold and no one ever came back on the line. I arrived at the time they told me my food would be ready, only to find it already sitting out and completely cold. Food was not worth the price. Attached photo for reference. To make things worse, the price online showed $19, but I was charged $30.55 in person -- a huge and unexpected difference with no explanation. Overall, I would not recommend.
