I believe this place is under new management/ownership since I came last because a lot has changed. Unfortunately, this place was a big disappointment. The boba was plain and tasted off overall like it was just milk. The first batch of crystal boba was actually sour, which was very concerning. We asked for a second drink with regular boba, but that didn't taste good either and was far from spectacular. Ordering food was also frustrating. When we asked for a churro, the staff at the counter didn't seem to understand what we were requesting until we physically pointed it out on their own menu. When it finally came out, it looked like it had been previously frozen and was hard and dry. We will not be coming back. They have a good selection of fruit teas, milk teas, slushies, smoothies, and other sugary concoctions---- as well as food/snacks, including fries, wings, garlic noodles, tacos. Got the Kimchi Kogi Fries and the classic milk tea (with boba). The portion on the fries was huge! Unfortunately, I can barely taste the kimchi with the sweet bulgogi beef (and whatever sauce they used). The kimchi itself was not spicy as indicated on the menu, nor it was the usual red color. It was white, which I thought was odd. Maybe they were stingy on the gochugaru sauce. Stopped by The Nest after shopping nearby. We didn't feel like driving home in traffic hour without grabbing a bite to eat first so came in for a small meal. I actually wanted Korean food next door, but didn't feel like we needed the huge portions or leftovers before Thanksgiving. So The Nest's food options hit the spot without breaking the bank. We ordered the ramen which is just a Shin ramen with some kimchi, melted cheese and hot dogs in it. It's not bad, the kind of comfort food I make at home for $8. But well worth it to have some warm soup while out of the house. The carne asada fries were too salty for my liking. It's a shame it doesn't come with avocados or sour cream to balance the saltiness of the fries, meat and cheese. Maybe if they added more crema or an aioli at least? Overall the place is pretty lowkey, they have some board games and a few arcade games. Not a bad place to grab a snack or food after shopping with kids. Also that they love KPop here and they have a few decorations and have some sort of event coming up in line with the Kiss of Life concert on Friday. I normally do not review places but I wanted to shoutout this boba place and highlight my first amazing experience here. Upon entry I was immediately greeted warmly and this theme continued by other employees. I ended up ordering a milk tea with boba and it was ready within a few minutes. Not only was I pleasantly surprise from the service but the ambiance of the restaurant is so so clean. The flavor and the texture of the boba were 10/10. This cute little place exchanged owners and has changed drastically. To start off with, the young people working there have done their best during the transition; however, it is evident they have no control or input as to what the new owner has done and I heard through the grapevine, The Nest has lost many loyal customers. There are things on the menu not available, the lights inside and outside are searing white lights, extremely annoying, and unnecessary. It is no longer an inviting place because the ambiance has been killed, it's messy, disorderly, smells bad, and one can't see through the windows from because it's obvious they are being wiped with a cleaner that is sticking to the glass. It looks bad. Sorry to say, my girlfriends and I will not be spending time there anymore. I will miss the Pink Rose tea, the Kimchi kogi, the rice crispy treats, and the service, which is still amazing because the baristas and cooks are great, for now anyway. Got to try the Nest Boba in my last day in San Antonio/Castle Hills and what stood out to me when seeing this spot online is how nice the interior is. It's one of the larger spaces I've seen at a boba shop and there is plenty of seats to sit down and hang out with friends. They have board games lying around also. Service is pretty friendly as well. Mainly what made the experience just okay for me is the drinks and food not being up to par with those other positives of this store. I ordered: - Matcha Horchata with Boba ($6.75 total) - Lemon Pepper Crispy Chicken Wings ($11) Matcha with Horchata seemed too interesting and unique to not try and it tasted how I expected. It really did taste like an Horchata with a hint of matcha. The matcha wasn't strong, but it was still good. I wasn't asked about sweetness or ice adjustments and I didn't notice that being displayed on their menu either. So I got regular everything. The boba wasn't chewy enough for me personally and it felt like they were sitting for a bit because they had a tougher texture. The drink itself is good without the boba to me personally. The Lemon Pepper Crispy Chicken Wings were more like Lemon Lemon Lemon and a little bit of Pepper Wings because wow that lemon flavor was too intense. You couldn't really taste much else flavor because the wings were just sour and the lemon was overpowering. I prefer more of a balance with my lemon pepper wings. They were fried pretty well and there was a nice crispy plus it was juicy inside. I just think it was overseasoned for my taste and usually I love lemon pepper wings from most places. Nice and easy transaction for boba. Went there for lunchtime refreshment, and found the place to be empty. It made for a quick in and out. I was greeted by the staff member and she patiently took my order for a boba flavor that wasn't on the board She made a delicious matcha horchata boba. The boba order came out faster than I planned, and I left. I did manage to start a free game of the classic NBA Jam, but I took my order and went on to the next one. I will say that because of the other eateries and reserved parking spots for the surrounding businesses, parking was stingy. I got lucky and found a spot opposite the location. This spot gets a 3.5 stars from me, but I'm rounding down because the drink I got still was a bit powdery/grainy. I made a custom drink, taro with green tea, creamer, and boba, with less ice and no sweetness. The taste of the drink was perfect, but the taro powder wasn't completely mixed/shaken. I also wasn't a huge fan of the strong fried/food smell in the store. It seemed like there wasn't enough ventilation/fans inside because it was also a bit on the warmer side temperature-wise. FIRST TIME VISIT! I love boba and always in search of the next best place. Had never heard of this place until Yelp dangled The Nest in front of me like a carrot. How was I to resist?! Love the greenery wall and that they use tropical flowers like Anthurium. This Hawaiian girl approves! THE MENU: has something sweet, savory, colorful and something guaranteed to be totally new to your palate. I'd even go as far as say I believe there is something for everyone. A dessert case yielded sweet treats like French macarons. I ordered some Korean fried chicken wings and asked for a side of rice to make it a meal. The owner came out and gave me the rice for free. How awesome! I guess they hadn't added that to the menu just yet and the cashier was trying to figure out a charge and came up with $4 for the side. Just visited this place for the second time. The first time was during Yelp elite Week and I was blown away. So much so that I brought 2 friends with me this time bc I wanted them to experience the food and great service we had the first time but was so embarrassed that it was far from that. All of our food took 40 minutes to come out. With the 2 girls working in the front, you'd think they'd realize this was unacceptable and either let us know what's going on or give a nudge to the kitchen. We were literally the only People in here. The biggest disappointment was that the food tasted NOTHING like our first visit. I had a very busy week and I finally had the time to make it out to The Nest. I went on Friday evening, around 6:30. There weren't many people there so there was no wait. The shop is clean and cutely decorated with plants in geometric planters on the walls. Tres chic! The guy who checked me in was very friendly and explained what I'd be getting: an Ube milk tea and a cinnamon toast croffle. I also bought a small cup of elote to balance out all the sweetness. I loved what a melting pot this place is. They sell Mexican corn in a cup, Korean dishes, Japanese dishes, and little French macarons! The corn was yummy. The Ube drink was fantastic, with the boba having that perfect QQ texture. But the croffle?! Amazing. Crispy on the outside. Fluffy on the inside. Sweet and sugary. Definitely a fun little evening treat. I wanted to get something to go, and also a croffle for my neighbor since she was kind enough to watch my dog while I went out. She also loved it! I wanted the Ube cheesecake, but was told they don't have that anymore, so I got the Ube truffle. So good. It was a spacious tea hub, good for big groups. It was neat and pretty minimalistic. The staff were nice and fast so you don't really wait for that long. The boba was pretty interesting, I can't taste the ube much in it but I hope I adjusted the sugar level of the milk tea. The girl behind the counter was very sweet and offered to make my drink with oat milk instead since I had a sensitivity to lactose. They forgot to add the ube, but she immediately changed the drink and added the ube, no issues. The drinks were absolutely gorgeous to look at. The orange crush was very sweet, but good. It basically was orange juice, with touches of strawberry syrup. I enjoyed the ube tiger- loved the smoky flavor of the brown sugar... it could have used a touch more of ube flavor though. We liked our first visit so much, we suggested to our family friends to stop by there after dinner. However, it was just alright. We ordered three milk teas and two "upside down halo-halos". When it arrived we were disappointed to realize that none of our drinks had boba. Im usually accustomed to the cashier asking if we want boba added when ordering at boba drink places, but it wasn't asked so we forget to add it! We were all bummed and we didn't feel like asking to have boba added because our order took long also. Just make sure you add boba when ordering! Don't make the mistake we did! I also don't recommend ordering the upside down halo-halo, especially if you've had real halo-halo before. They do have a disclaimer on the menu saying "our take on the halo halo", but it was just ube slush with very little halo halo ingredients like the beans and jelly. They topped it with frosted flakes and strawberries. Who adds strawberries to halo halo?! It was a huge disappointment, I did not like it at all and only took a few bites of it. 3 milk teas (with no boba) + 2 upside down halo-halos + 2 rice krispy treats = $60. Dang. Here for the first time and the service, drinks, and ambiance was really nice! I'm usually very picky when it comes to boba shops but this placed impressed me. I got a rose lychee black tea with oat milk and it was the perfect sweetness and not perfume-y. The black tea itself was great and not bitter at all plus I loved how I got to drink a lot drink itself instead of getting a drink that was mostly ice. Additionally, we got here around 8:30 and they close at 10 so usually some boba places have "old" boba that's too soft and mushy later in the day but the boba was bouncy and chewy so that was a huge plus! The messed up my order after I specifically stated on the Uber Eats on the notes due to allergies and they made the coffees with real milk or came in contact with coconut which I broke out in a bad rash I couldn't drink my coffees and had to throw them out.
