Great way to start the day! Our coffee came out pretty quickly-- tasted like your standard caramel latte, nothing crazy. The food, however, I would definitely come back for! My husband inhaled his spiral croissant sandwich with scrambled egg, ham, and cheese. My ranchero eggs Benedict with grilled chicken was very tasty. The salsa chipotle hollandaise was really the glue that held everything together; lots of flavor, added moisture to the chicken and bread. Service was friendly and you can tell the employees knew the menu and pastry line up very well. You wait in line to order, they give you a number and then you take a seat. Although it seemed busy, we were able to find a table right away. Staff members did a great job clearing out tables all while sending out orders. It was very clean and bright inside. La Panadería is one of my go-to spots in San Antonio, and it never disappoints. This visit, I ordered the Ferrero Rocher Concha with a Mexican hot chocolate, and it was the perfect combination. Excellent Panaderia! I will come back again when we visit San Antonio. Ordering: there is a line you enter that takes you through all the pastries. You order those with a person, then that person takes you to a register. At the register, you can order any of the plated food. They give you a number and the. You go to a table. The servers are very friendly, and the food came out promptly. I love that there are a lot of round tables instead of just square ones, but the chairs do have arms, so they hugged my hips. Parking: They have a parking lot. We were with my hubby, dad, and stepmom, and they had never been to a Mexican bakery, so I had to do a lot of explaining. We got three items from the bakery: a bread one with cream and blueberries, a flaky cup-shaped one with cream, and a triangle flaky one with guava. They were phenomenal! Our fam got one of the flaky cup-cshaoed ones and another cupcake-shaped one that was bread. They loved them both and said they would be back later for more, or tomorrow morning. For our meal, we shared the chicken ranchero Benedict, and it was so tasty on delicious sourdough bread! We used the bread to soak up all the runny yoke and sauce from the meal. Incredible vibe at this café with a ton of people already here as early as it opens. I ordered a pick up order, but when I arrived, I told them that I was here and they immediately started making it. My order was ready in about five minutes, which was also astonishing. The staff is incredible and their communication is quite beautiful as it is super in-sync. The mere amount of pastries is impressive. This place may look like a tourist trap, but it operates as a local café with incredible vibes. It errs on the expensive side, but to be fair I think everything is worth it. El buenos dias was very good, and the bread was perfectly toasted. I did not like the beans but that was not the focus. There was so much avocado and a perfect amount of tomatoes. The egg whites were cooked perfectly and they were super fluffy. The bacon and the turkey were outstanding in quality and taste. The bright colored Concha is a stand out not only for its beautiful colors but for its popularity! We ordered the Chocolate Croissant & Cinnamon Roll Churro "to go". For in-house we tried their Tres Leches Croissant filled with fresh cream & strawberries, then topped with powdered sugar. It was ok. The cream could have been somewhat sweeter. The "Banderilla" was the best thing we had. It's a long croissant-style pastry filled with slightly spicy sausage and melted cheese, topped with jalapeños. It brought back memories of a unique one, we use to get years ago in Colorado called a little devil, but this was better! Bummed to not have tried their Tequila Almond Croissant which was featured by Guy Fieri on Food Network- Next time! Additionally, we got their turkey sandwich (torta), to split-which comes with soup or salad as a side option. The salad & Chipotle dressing was decent. Dressing made it. My one piece of advice, go early! Even though we got here at 9 the line went all the way to the door. So many pastries to choose from all look fresh and delicious! I finally settled on the Banderilla (cuz I've never had one before and it looked amazing) I got a matcha latte to go with it and it paired beautifully. The hubs got Chorizo and egg torta with a telera bread with an Americano. My daughter got the French toast classic with cinnamon bread. It comes with fresh berries atop and whipped cream. All in all everything was so delicious it made me sad to leave San Antonio knowing it will be a while before we return. My husband and I have wanted to try La Panaderia Bakery for quite some time. We've heard everything is delicious and calorically dangerous. We finally came after banking some calories with a long run. OMG, everything looked so yummy. We wanted to order one of everything but we didn't run enough miles for that. LOL Even though we go there after 2 pm, the number of customers speak for itself. It is a beloved bakery. We decided on breakfast first. My husband ordered the Sunny Side Up and I ordered the French Toast with the addition of scrambled eggs and bacon. Then, we ordered a couple of berry croissants and butter cookies to go. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be coming back but our metabolism aren't what it use to be. La Panaderia Bakery Cafe is one of my favorite dining locations in San Antonio, TX. We ordered a Build Your own Torta (sandwich). I split the sandwich with a colleague, which came with a side. We chose the turkey torta with cilantro mayo, chipotle mustard, turkey, smoked gouda and tomatoes along with lentil soup. The sandwich was huge so I ate only one half. The bread was Kumut, an ancient grain and quite filling. While this is primarily a bakery, we opted out of sweets today. Ok...ok...yes I had that lemon blueberry muffin this morning. Even more reason not to have another sweet injection. It is important to note that prices at La Panaderia have been increasing each year as are other restaurants in the San Antonio area. If you share the sandwich with another person, it is more economical. Service was fast and friendly as always. This was on my to do list while visiting San Antonio and I was so looking forward to going, but those lines and the poor management of getting those lines down is just so bad, I cannot ignore what a nuisance it is. We had to wait outside, in the heat because the line was not moving fast enough inside. When we finally got inside, the line just sits forever because of small talk, and questions, and it's really irritating when it's hot outside and there are so many people in line that it's just as hot indoors as well. Turn up the AC! OMG, you have dozens of people waiting for service and they're all fanning themselves and complaining, do something about it! Why is there only one cashier? why haven't you done anything to remedy your problem, which by the way, is a good problem to have, of too many customers? You have one girl making coffee drinks on a Sunday morning when you're packed...what sense does that make? By the time I'm done with my pan dulce, five minutes later someone comes strolling by with my coffee, which I don't care about anymore. Please get a manager that knows how to handle these issues because you are a great place and I wish you had locations outside of SA, but you need to get yourself straightened out so you can move forward. This is THE go-to for breakfast bites & bakery delights! This place never fails to satisfy my sweet tooth; my regular for bakery treats is the Nutella Cruffin. A soft flaky croissant breading, baked in the form of a muffin, filled with rich Nutella, topped with a (not-too-sweet) chocolate mousse & 2 semi-sweet chocolate sticks. Their breakfast is always so delish and fills you up in a way that will keep you coming back. I'm a sweets-for-breakfast person, so I lean towards their French toast. It's warm, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. Getting it topped with fresh fruit is, hands down, always a win in my book. In a word: divine. La Panadería Bakery Café quickly became one of our favorite dining experiences anywhere, ever. As we entered, we were a bit overwhelmed. We'd just hopped off an early morning flight from Milwaukee. We were completely un-caffeinated and hangry. A quick search on Yelp showed this place was relatively close to the airport. We arrived. The parking lot was full and the line serpentined all the way to the door. My first thought: This place must be amazing. Followed quickly by: What is happening? Do we order everything in this line or just pastries? Where is the menu? Again--what's happening?! I blame our bleary eyed post flight hangry un-caffeinated state. There was a basket of menus--we grabbed two. I asked the gentleman in front of us if he'd been there before. "Yes! It's excellent," came his reply. I then inquired as to the flow of things. He explained that once we get to the pastry case, we can order any breads we'd like and then once we got to the cash register, we could order coffee and anything off the menu and they'd bring those items out to us (the pastry items you get straight away). So, that's what we did. For our pastries we got a nutella cruffin and a peineta. Both were excellent. The nutella cruffin was completely out of this world. For my coffee, I got the cafe bombon, which was solid. And, for my main, I got the vegetariano with scrambled eggs added. It comes on an incredibly large laminated pastry (croissant? Just super big and round?) and was the perfect blend of flavors. Initially, I noticed pickles on it and thought--oh--I don't like pickles on my breakfast sandwich. Or mustard. But, you know what? It all worked together in a perfect symphony of flavors. I wouldn't change a thing. What a way to start our first trip to San Antonio (and Texas!). Did we fly to heaven taste buds first? Yes, yes yes! This place is amazing. There is lots of parking but it does get busy so it might be hard on the busy peak hours, but they do have their own private parking which is awesome. It's a fairly large building. It has a seating area and if you're ever in the California it kind of gives Porto vibes . They have delicious pastries like pan dulce. But I did get the concha and the pan de Muerto and I had the steak and eggs. The steak and eggs were perfectly done perfectly cooked. They came with a side of a soup, and I got the mixture one that had Sopa de Fideo and black beans. I am normally not a fan of black beans, but the mixture of the soup was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly like I mentioned and so were the eggs the pico that it came with was also good. The cappuccino was absolutely amazing. The coffee beans that they use were smooth and flavorful a really good cup of cappuccino. For being as busy as it was, the line goes fairly quickly. There was still seating available for me to go in and enjoy my food. If you are in the San Antonio area definitely come and try this place out for breakfast brunch lunch or if you just want a sweet dessert The staff was all super friendly and the dining area was very clean. But my husband, of course, won both for the meal and the dessert! He ordered the amazing Mexican Cubano sandwich and a pastry with blueberries. They were incredible! We need a La Panadería just outside the city on the east side! The only thing I didn't like was having to drive into the city and then trying to get a parking spot. The Mexican bakery was delightful. Tuesday morning and it wasn't crowded, but parking was hard due to small lot and it being full. Walking in, there are menus to grab and read or the menus posted above the line. The servers are quick to grab your pastry before you head over to the cashier to place your drink/food order. We got the nutella cruffin which was a delightful pastry. Good crunch with a nice whipped topping and nutella filling. The vanilla concha was also amazing. The frosting was thin and crunchy which complimented the airy soft breading. Not the typical pan dulce you see, which are soft frosting and dense breading; a nice switch! The cuban was very good, meat and pickles and sauce all went nicely together. I got the telera bread which was a good choice in my opinion. The hot chocolates were huge!! Very yummy but a tad too sweet. If too sweet is not for you, maybe see if some extra milk or base they use would be a good option. This has to be a slow sip drink because of that. We came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and there was a bit of a line, but it moved pretty quickly luckily. Although we took the food to go, the ambiance in the store was very lively. We ordered: - La Vegetariana with Telera Bread and Lentil Soup - The sandwich was delicious and the Telera bread was slightly crunchy, but still soft and it was very flavorful overall. The Lentil Soup was also surprisingly delicious and flavorful! - Green Concha - This was their seasonal Concha with pistachio! It was delicious and soft and moist inside and slightly crunchy outside. The best part was that it was not overly sweet and the pistachio ganache filling was delicious. - Guava Empanada - I loved the guava filling! It tasted like fresh guava and not artificial. The pastry part was very flakey. - Tres Leches Croissant - This is another popular option and I really like the combination and the fact that it was not overly sweet. The pastry part was very flakey. Only thing I didn't like was flies inside one of the bread containers! I sure wish I could have tried the breads in that container. Giving it 3 stars because first, when we went in, my daughter wasn't feeling good and I told her to sit, but the lady told her she couldn't sit down until after we get our food which I think is ridiculous since I am in line to get food anyway! Second, since theres a line, I can't see all the pastries in the glass case since there's people in line blocking it so I tell the employee if she could wait until I get to the end to see all the pastries. She helps the others which was fine, but when I got to the end, she never came back to me to help me. The other guy ended up helping me after I waited for a while.
