I'm going to a concert tonight that happens to be the first concert I ever went to...so I was on a mission to find something to match this black and pink shirt. I had been looking everywhere with no luck, and then while walking through Cap Hill I spotted the PERFECT pair of black and pink TrippNYC cargo pants in the window. I went inside and asked two lovely associates Tiara and Maria about them, and even though the store was out of stock, they did not give up on me. These two literally pulled a full mannequin out of the window display, moved all the merch around it, pulled the pants off and practically undressed the poor guy, just so I could try them on. I'm not kidding. That is NEXT LEVEL customer service. The mannequin was wearing a medium and I usually wear a large, so I thought it was over. But since they're super baggy cargos, we decided to try it anyway... PERFECT. FIT. Not only did they fit, but they matched perfectly. I walked out with exactly what I was hoping for, and honestly it made my whole day. Huge shoutout to Tiara and Maria for being so kind, helpful, and willing to go way above and beyond. Overall, I always love coming here when I visit Washington. The only thing is... it's very crowded, hard to walk around because there is so much stuff for the amount of space they have. So, good & bad to it. I also went accidentally during a MCR weekend so it was overpacked with people. They tend to have great product! Only suggestion is to get rid of the glitter eye makeup they have at least in green & red as mine & my friends eyes both had severe allergic reactions to them. I love this store overall!!! read more

The workers were really nice! They definitely helped out and interacted with customers great. They had lots of demonias and a ton of things for goths and sub-styles of goth. It was very expensive via belts being around 60 bucks and most things there (clothes) were over 60. Same for the store above (cramps) the coats were 200 dollars. It's a great place! Service is usually good but during our visit they were at bit caught up in staff drama. Great selection IF you are small. I like stuff that doesn't depend on specific fit. Just be aware there's no clothing for size 14 and up. I'm a 14 in most brands and even the 'plus size' items were too small. Great for accessories. read more

Over the years the store with great looking goth clothing and gear has had a few different names. One was Panache and the one that I usually associated the store with was The Metro and at least one other name but it escapes my memory right now. Plenty of variety to pick from for both men and women including shoes and accessories as well. It's almost too much to take in because it's all kind of in a compacted space but they make it work. I usually purchase from here in the colder months since that is usually what appeals to me on many occasions to be the most appealing when it comes to shopping for clothes. I've purchased some very fine jackets here. I have gotten some really fun clothes here in the summer too but it's not too typical. While they primarily sell goth clothes here last time I was in here I saw clothing and accessories suitable for Pride occasions (rainbows) and such as well as camp shirts with brighter designs and colors. Paisley designed shirts were spotted by my eye as well. So while New York Xchange primarily specializes in goth clothing for Seattle and the Capitol Hill neighborhood there are other clothing options as well but take your time browsing figuring it out as there is lots of merchandise to pour through. read more

The selection of alt clothing is vast and their sister stores (the cramp and the rave store) have a ton of good stuff! The items are expensive but in my experience hold up to the test of time very well! The employeees are super nice and the costomer serivce is good as well! GO HERE ITS FUN!!! This place has amazing selection and range. They have everything from pins,sunglasses,hats and stuffed animals to fur coats,platform shoes,pants and skirts. This low rating really goes towards my experience the other day. There was AWFUL customer service. I had walked in with my friend because we are going to a festival next weekend and we're needing some more outfits. From the outside this place looked like a gold mine, we start browsing and I see a couple items I think were cute but still having a hard time finding a "outfit". I walk over to the counter to find a worker crouched down on her phone and I ask her if she had a moment if she could help me find an outfit.. she totally ignores me and speaks another language to her coworker, the coworker then looks at me and says "we're really busy right now" as she's standing at the counter. (There was maybe 5 people in the store) I get you might be busy in that moment but is it really hard to take five minutes and help a customer? It's your job. I work in customer service and I am perfectly capable of helping a customer AND finishing my task I was originally working on, I promise that task she may have been doing would have still been there after helping me. In all honesty I was really shocked, and told her I'll just help myself. I ended up putting the things I had back and walked over to Trendy Wendy's where I got all the service I needed. read more

I came into this store and spent 3 hours total in here. That was because we left and came back... felt like we missed things. You literally walk in and walk out and see different goodies every time. Great customer service and very attentive. They held our bags from other shopping so we could browse without carrying everything. Very helpful with trying clothes on or grabbing things from up high . We're in a Lady Gaga Tribute band and literally found everything we needed plus some! Highly recommend this store. I went in here to look for some accessories to my first burlesque show. Ari, an employee, went above and beyond. She worked with me and understood it was my first time doing something like this and attempted to work with my very vague style. She came out with very cool pieces. Unfortunately, the items are pretty pricey, but there are great clearance pieces. I think the prices are fair for the items though, online they're probably tons more other places. If you're looking for anything out there, but non-junky items, I would recommend this place. read more

i love this store, but everything seems extremely overpriced. you could even go on the brand websites and see that the prices are lower than the tags in store. not only that, but they only have really two small dressing rooms in the entire store. my main problem though, is the upstairs store. at first, worker was nice to me until later. just like any other regular clothing store, I tried stuff on to see if I would like it and possibly want to buy it. After I had tried some stuff on(I only really tried on 2 things), the worker got very angry at me that I had come into the store to try stuff on and then buy nothing. he told me I wasted his time and over exaggerated saying that I couldn't try on five dresses if I was not going to buy anything. I in-fact, did not try on five dresses. I felt like I wasn't allowed to take my time in the store, like I was rushed. it makes no sense because clothing stores are meant for you to try things on, see if you like it, or not, then decide whether you want to buy something or not. How are you supposed to go into a shop with the mindset of buying some thing without even trying anything on first? I'm very dissatisfied with the events that had happened. Even my friend said that she could tell he was getting annoyed. Unfortunate that the worker was so rude because I did like the clothes and wanted to come back another time to possibly get something. This place is great!!!! I'm not sure which page to write a review on since this shop recently combined with Panache, but this one looked like it needed some love. After Metro closed and NYX opened up, my alternative-styled self was more than a little skeptical with the plaid shirt sales and brightly colored basics... But it seems as though they've made quite a few changes since then and created a shop that's affordable and caters to the alternative fashion and vibrant goth community in Seattle. Great little shop on Capitol Hill that caters to the alternative style with a decent selection of various styles and brands. The staff is always helpful and sometimes will offer suggestions in relation to things you're looking at. You could buy club wear here, every day clothing and even something a little more dressy or fancy. They're also very accommodating for the queer community which, being in it, I think is great. read more
