I was greeted warmly by Marianne when checked into the desk. I had made reservations over the phone initially and she was so delightful to speak with. She was able to provide me with an amazing weekend getaway deal and quite a few recommendations in the area to try. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot. The staff was all super friendly. They have toiletries and snacks available at the front desk for purchase in case you forgot to bring anything but there are also stores within walking distance. The rooms were super comfortable for us and our friends. The toiletries in the rooms were amazing. I definitely will be stopping by here again. read more

From our first phone call when inquiring about the Niantic Inn and speaking to Marianne regarding our specific preferences until the second we checked out we were treated with exemplary customer service and friendliness by each and everyone. Our room was exceptionally clean and during our stay we enjoyed meeting two of the housekeepers, Induli and Aggie. The Inn was very quiet which was achieved with a lot of hard work and ingenuity when Marianne took over as proprietor and renovated it. Even on weekends when it was full it was quiet. I STRONGLY caution anyone from dealing with the 'manger' at Niantic Inn. I had significant complaints two years ago that I posted here. Stayed at the Niantic Inn for 2 nights July 3rd- 5th with my husband and 2 children. Warm welcome by the co owner, very sweet to my kids. Pros: The beach is across the street and they provide you with passes however if you lose it there is $75 fee. -Parking is free and close to the Inn - A convenient location to food options. -You can pay more for a room with a kitchenette which is supplied with a pot, pan, cups, glasses, dish washing soap, and a very small coffee maker. - There is a washer $2.00 in quarters and dryer $1.00 in quarters available for use. - There is a patio area with a grill and seating in the back of the Inn. Cons: The Inn itself needs updating it was very underwhelming as soon as you walk into the building. -Overpriced at almost 300/ night we paid. - The carpets are old and moldy, appliances are all outdated. - The worst part- we got eaten alive by bed bugs. I called to let them know the very next day however there was no accountability on their part. I was forced to shave my kids head and these bites are going to leave scars on them for a long time to come. I'd avoid this place. The reviews have to be fake because it's not an "Excellent" place to stay. read more

My husband and I usually stay at Marriott hotels or at upscale Bed and Breakfasts for special occasions. We were visiting nearby relatives over the holidays and stayed at Niantic Inn. We were very pleased with the King efficiency room. We are particular when it comes to cleanliness and comfort. Our room was very clean, comfortable and cozy with nice holiday touches and a basket of snacks and teas (including honey). The room decor and furnishings were fresh and up to date. The memory foam mattress was especially comfortable. It was a quiet and relaxing stay (off season/winter). The location is great. The beach boardwalk, marina and wonderful bakeries to get breakfast (we recommend Sift) are all within walking distance. We didn't try any restaurants but there are several within walking distance as well as cute beach boutiques. Marianne and the staff are polite and accommodating. We had everything we needed to make our stay a good one. Thankful for a great stay over the holidays. read more

Poor customer service. My flight was canceled which is out of my control, and they wouldn't give me a refund or transfer my reservation cost to a gift certificate. Instead MaryAnn offered $50 of my $240 because days from now she already booked a cleaning lady, apparently for my room only. I understand the policy is 7 days, but this is poor customer service and reasoning was ridiculous. I will never recommend this place! read more

Had a great experience staying at Niantic Inn. I only like to stay at big name chain hotels because they have a certain standard. Well I have to stay this place was even better. Tucked away off the main street it was hidden from things. Checked in at one building-- very pleasant woman greeted us with a little bag containing water, bag of chips, granola bar and some mints. Walking into the lobby of the building with the rooms were some fresh flowers , our king efficiency room was neat, clean and homey. Our room had fridge and small kitchenette. Rooms had been upgraded-- modern kitchen with tile , bathroom had shower with great showerhead, great body wash , shampoo and conditioner. Coffee service in room. Decorated with little decorations -- and eye masks and earplugs as well. Pleasantly surprised. Would definitely stay again if i am in the area!! read more

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the whole stay! Passes for the beach were included with our stay and it was within perfect walking distance. Rooms were very clean as well, and quite spacious! A little on the pricier side, but it was worth it. The only downfalls are that there is no elevator, so it's a bit of a hassle to lug your luggage up the stairs, and that the building is not secure. read more

Unfortunately we were never able to experience the Inn . Had a death in the family 3 days before we were going there. Bottom line lost $503.00 would not accommodate us unless we paid another$400 to come at other time. Not happy with customer service at all. read more

Just stayed for two nights spontaneously. Clean room, daily clean towels , big room , two full beds couch and sitting area with four chairs, beach pass . seems rooms might have been redone and clean. Nothing looks as on their website and the rating must be fraud. Its extremely outdated. Entire basement level smells mildew & bathroom are too small. Carpet is discussing. No air circulation. And there was this dripping sound all nite coming from the walls. The door didnt not closed from The inside the lock was broken. Outdoor smelled and very Messy. read more

It was very clean. Room was big and bed was comfy. My complaint is calling it an "inn". There is absolutely no common area to sit and visit with friends, no coffee or food available, even to purchase. Those are the amenities i think of when going to an "inn". Price was reasonable but generally pretty outdated. read more

We had another fantastic stay at The Niantic Inn! I didn't know a place we loved could get even better, but it did! We first fell in love with this place for its convenient location, but just to the beach, but but to restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, ice cream, the Children's Museum, the boardwalk, and more. On this trip we discovered the playground at McCook Park, their summer concerts, and the Farmer's Market. The Inn has made some great updates to their rooms - updating the kitchen and bathroom areas since we last visited, new TVs, and the most comfortable mattresses making the already spacious rooms even better. The friendly atmosphere including the warm welcome and kind cleaning staff now include welcome snacks (loved by us all - especially my children)! Thank you, Niantic Inn, for another wonderful stay! If I could put zero stars I would. We didn't even stay there. We made a reservation in January for May and had a confirmation. Then in March they called and said they were raising the rates by $40 a night. Really! Isn't that illegal. The lady on the phone tried to tell me it was because they had new owners but that was not true. The new owners had already taken over before I made my reservation. They just decided to raise the rates and would not honor the rates that they gave me on my confirmation. Needless to say I told them to cancel my reservation, I was not interested in staying someplace who treats customers that way! read more

I made my reservation at the Niantic Inn in November, 2022, for a single night's stay in July, 2023, and I received a confirmation receipt and number for the room, priced $205. When I arrived to check-in I was told that the Inn was under new management and that the price of my room had increased by $60, around a 30% increase on the original price. I had never been contacted by the new management and was not given an option to not sign the new receipt prior entering my room. The receptionist assured me that they would send the owner a copy of my original confirmation and that it would likely be honored. On check-out the next day the issue had not been resolved and the manager was not answering messages. When talking to the receptionist (a different person), I was told it seemed unlikely the issue would be resolved, and that the manager had written down a note in the system saying they had contacted me. When asked about details surrounding the contact method and date, I was told the note read "mm;)". I had never been contacted by the management to discuss the changing circumstances, otherwise I would have found a room for a lower rate somewhere else, and this lack of clear confirmation from the manager compounded the overall lack of attention afforded the situation. I was told the manager would get in touch with me that day to resolve the issue, but a week later I have had no contact with the manager- they were given my number but I was not given theirs- yet a charge has been withdrawn from my account for the new price. I would not recommend the inn solely based on their poor management and customer service. It seemed from the attitudes of the receptionists that I was not the first person to be caught off-guard, and that no guidelines had been established to rectify the situation. However, they are not at fault and should not be blamed for the error; it lies solely with the new management. The room was fine but in my opinion not worth the hefty sum of $265 for a single night's stay. read more

Decent sized room. Free wireless. Great location. That being said, the beds are not comfortable. The air conditioners are very annoying as the auto change from ac to fan to keep at your desired temp. Also, they only clean your room once. I have never heard of another hotel that does this. We asked them to clean our room twice, but they would not. We stayed for 9 nights, and they cleaned after the first night, not once more. On night 9 there are piles of trash in shopping bags, and a room that seriously needs to be cleaned! read more

I have to say, the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Please know, this is not a hotel for the lazy, entitled set. It is a lovely place at a reasonable price for people who know not to count on room service and a concierge. That said, The Niantic Inn is convenient to everything Niantic. I have just stayed at the Niantic Inn this past weekend. The rooms were very big and clean. Their efficiency rooms are well worth the extra money. It offered many amenities such as free beach passes, parking, wi-fi, and cable. It had a great location within walking distance to all of downtown. There was great food in the area and my kids loved the movie theater. My wife and I hung out at the patio and had a cook-out with the whole family. My wife felt safe enough to go on her normal early-morning run. The only problems I had was there was no room so we could stay another night. I will definitely be back at the Niantic Inn with the family and would recommend to anyone within the state of Connecticut. read more

What a dump. That's why they have available rooms when other places are full up. Nasty little place.

The grounds are well kept, the room was large, the bed was ok(old chenille bed linens tho), but the amount they charged was nowhere near the pleasant experience we should have had. The one thing we were looking for after traveling 11 hrs was a good nights rest. The ac unit is very odd, has some economy function that runs rather loudly which can be ok due to the white noise factor but it shuts itself off every few minutes which is very irritating noise wise. It kept both of us up and no matter how you adjust the unit, it cannot be fixed. I wrote the front desk the next morning asking if there was a setting to change it to but she just said there was not but I could just run the fan. Well when it's nearly 90 out, turning off the ac is not an option and I'm surprised she would suggest it. Then the housekeeping staff would come clean rooms around 8am laughing and talking so loudly, we could hear them on the 3rd floor! There is no sound buffers in the walls so you can hear everything. I wrote the front desk to tell them this as well but they seemed to totally disregard it. I heard an older gentleman in the hallway yelling at the staff to quiet down as well. Awful that it seems to be put in the guests laps. I will never stay there again especially after having such a nice stay at the nearby Rocky Motor inn for less than half the cost. It was super clean, quiet, very nice bed, new linens-it was great. If you are desperate to stay near the boardwalk and own a set of ear plugs-you might be ok. Otherwise if sleep is something you are looking for-try Rocky Motor Inn! Only $59/night. Our stay at Niantic was $159 so it was $100 cheaper! read more
