Atmosphere: I LOVE the small town vibes. Same 2 ladies always run the place. They know regulars by name, favorite order, and even details of families and travel plans!! The community makes it a very pleasant place. The inside is covered in vibrant, eye-catching murals (from a young woman artist who passed away - Fremont lore the owner can share!). There is equally colorful, mismatched, but endearing tables and chairs. The patio is huge and shaded, with many beautiful plants and cute deco! One down side is its loose sand and can be dusty. 2. Drinks / Food Drinks are insanely priced! Smalls (12 oz) are $3.80, and Larges (20 oz) are $5.50. Loved the Vietnamese Coffee (my go to now) and thought the mocha was decent. They offer lots of different breakfast and lunch foods - toasts, omelettes, sandwiches, soups, and salads. I can't eat most of them, but the bread smells SO good! 3. Amenities Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with wifi and outlets inside. Great place to study or work from home! Indoors tends to be a little busier, so I typically sit outdoors. There's parking outside with no time limit; later in the day it fills up but there's residential parking available on the same street. There is a bathroom that is a bit cramped, but functional. Really solid little cafe. I've frequented it off and on for years and the quality and service have stayed consistently good. Prices here are reasonable and so are the portions. They lean on the smaller side but honestly, I like that. I don't always want a big ol' plate of food from the country way. This is the perfect lunch while you're out walking around the shops. I'm a big fan of the bacon and brie sandwich, also the basil mayo chicken is good too. I've had a few other sandwiches and some breakfast items, everything was good. The inside of the shop is super cute to stop and have a coffee. Also kid friendly, I've brought my 5 year old and got him French toast. Again, it was perfect that it wasn't a huge portion and my son highly enjoyed his food. I'll definitely keep coming back. BREAKFAST WITH QUIET SETTING The first time I came here was last year by accident. I went to another in Niles that had a long wait outside. I walked a couple of blocks away to find The Nile Cafe. I inside I looked at the menu and just ordered one item, which was Niles Au Lait. A year later I came back to The Nile Cafe for coffee and food. This summer I ate here three times. The first time was on a Friday morning. I decided to come that day because I felt coming to The Nile Cafe on Saturday would be too busy. I ordered a pear and fontina omelet. It sounded a unique combination of fruit and cheese in an omelet. The omelet was very light. The one thing that stood out was the homemade toast, which was doughy inside. For coffee I ordered the Nile au Lait. I liked my meal that day (maybe because of the setting) I came back the following day for breakfast. On Saturday there was a farmers' market at one of the parking lots. I wasn't sure If I would be able to find parking. I managed to find parking about a block away from The Nile Cafe. I decided to order two food items: French toast and Niles Special. I had to get the French toast due use of the homemade bread. I tend not to order French toast because it tends to be heavy. Something about the homemade bread from The Nile Cafe made it so addicting. The eggs scramble dish Niles Special is a filling dish of ham, tomatoes, sour cream, and avocado. Since I decided to get French toast for the Niles Special I decided to get hanfries, which are country-style potatoes, instead of toast. For coffee I ordered iced Vietnamese coffee. About a week later on a Sunday morning I came back to The Nile Cafe with my parents. I intended to get the sandwich Niles Mutt, which consisted of pastrami and ham, however for some reason I decided to order the Niles Special again. For the Nile Special I decided to get toast. For coffee I ordered hot Vietnamese coffee. The food is light and delicious at The Nile Cafe. None of the food I ordered stood out in flavor. The food was mediocre and extremely salty, which I asked him to hold the salt. Looking behind the counter at the kitchen it looked like a disaster and very unkempt. Update: I finally came back to try their food today, had an early dinner yesterday so I woke up pretty Hangry this morning. With the recent rise in inflation I was pleasantly surprised that most of their brekky (breakfast) menu items were under $10, so I ordered their breakfast burrito that included beef/chorizo, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and cheese. I was actually blown away by how much I enjoyed the burrito the chorizo had such a great savory flavor that paired with the eggs and melted cheese such a hearty comfort meal. The ladies working here are still friendly as first time I came to try their viet coffee. Will need to visit again to try other menu items, but I definitely recommend trying the breakfast burrito+ viet coffee if you're here. read more

Walked to niles cafe on a Wednesday. I want to revisit the lunch menu. I got the kale potato soup and Niles Mutt pastrami sandwich. I never knew they had a huge out door space in the back. This is no doubt a local Niles favorite.. and in my book if its loved by the people who live there its worth going to!! The woman who waited on us promised to be very careful about what went on her plate, and subbed potatoes with fruit. Food came, and it was perfect. This was our first time at the Nile Café. It was a party of four each of us ordered sandwiches for a drink. I ordered the mocha my friend ordered the iced latte. Another friend ordered a mocha as well. Sorry I did not post any pictures but when we got in there, we were so freaking hungry. We just started chowing down!! The food was five stars, the espresso drinks, five stars a Customer Service five stars the woman who took our order, took every single one of our orders out of a party of four without writing one thing down, and she got every single one of our orders spot on correct knew exactly who gets what in regards to our meals and our drinks. The service was very quick extremely pleasant and they really made you feel comfortable. Did not make you feel like you needed to rush through your meal we ate at the patio in the back. There were lots of lovely plants to go along with the lovely Customer Service. Right while we were asking a question, during the middle of our order, he turned away to do something else. Then he walked away, and the rest of the staff didn't acknowledge us. Then one of them told us to sit down and order later, then the original person came back and directed us to order and "order fast". No smiles on any faces, a complete disregard for customer service. They just want you to rush and get out of here. Something was not included in the meal because they were out of it but they didn't inform us! Like I said, if you are looking for something a little fancy, gourmet, this is not for you. But if you want a sandwich with a salad for a decent price, this is the place to go. My friend and I came in today and no one acknowledged us for a while. We asked the lady at the counter if we order at the counter and she told us to have a seat and someone will take our order. We sat for like 10 minutes or so and the waiter served other people who arrived after us and ignored us the entire time. When we got up to leave, the lady at the counter was trying to get us to stay and apologized, but too late. I'm glad we didn't get anything here because from looking at the critical reviews, seems like their sanitation is questionable. Niles District is always a great rest stop for bike rides, whether you're cruising through Niles Canyon or visiting the nearby Quarry Lakes and Coyote Hills. Skillet'z is probably the most popular brunch spot on that street, but lines were out the door both times I was in Niles. Instead, my friend and I opted to go to The Nile Cafe, and were happy to find that there was no wait both times. We were able to find a table outdoors and conveniently prop up our bikes right next to us. I've ordered the Cobbler scramble (bacon, ham, mushrooms, and blue cheese) as well as the Pastrami and Swiss sandwich, and enjoyed both of them. Prices are lower than your typical brunch place, but it's matched by the smaller portions - which is perfectly fine if you're still planning on continuing a bike ride. If you need a caffeine boost, I'd also recommend the Vietnamese coffee! read more

You can still get a good cup of beverage in the $2-$4 range, or sandwich/soup/breakfast items/breakfast wraps/french toast/etc (maybe under or around $6-$10 each). I would want to try some pastries and breads next time with a Vietnamese iced coffee if I do wake up early enough. Expect old American style cafe foods. Not a Vietnamese restaurant. Lots of beautiful artworks of Niles inside. Landmark cafe is more like it. Perfect location with lots of available free off street parking up and down the streets.
