STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great sweet and savory crepes. Came for breakfast with a friend, right when they opened at 9am. Tucked away in the corner of an aging strip mall, it's easy to miss. My friend's been living in the area for a few years and had been to the dosa place a few doors down and had not noticed it. I, an out of towner armed with the Yelp app, was the one to suggest it. It turned out to be a fortuitous find. I got the Veggie pesto crepe (very tasty and healthy, with spinach, tomato, mozzarella and pesto sauce) and my friend got the Chicken & mushrooms crepe (3 wrapped crepe that looked similar to large egg rolls). We also shared a Fruit combo crepe (strawberries, banana, Nutella and whipped cream--delish). Coffee was good, too. Good food made with care but not cheap. Friendly service from the older owner couple--Romanian, from the flags we saw hanging on the wall. The decor was pleasant but the place was a little worn overall. They had some intricate doily-like things on the wall that looked to be traditional handicrafts, as well as some paintings from their paint nights. What a delightful little Fremont gem. Admittedly, I haven't sampled any of the savory crepes or soups yet, but they all look super appetizing for sure. I sampled three dessert choices and could tell right away there's a lot of attention to detail and a great passion for their craft here. You can tell in the complex flavors with each subsequent bite you take, the quality of the ingredients and the great presentations. The famous honey cake here is delicious. Great texture, beautiful layers, a light and not overly sweet honey undertone that finishes with a clean, lemony flavor that I wasn't expecting. The pavlova was an interesting one. A crunchy meringue base with a cream on top. This one was a bit sweeter, but a nice mix of textures. Then there's the napoleon classic. Beautifully presented, uniform filling and dough layers. Tried this place for the first time since I was craving savory crepes. I ordered one that had cheese, chicken and mushrooms. I requested no cheese, but was told it wasn't possible. So I tried it anyway. It came out looking like 3 enchilada shaped crepes, not what I was anticipating. It came with sour creme on the side. However, the flavors and texture was good. Let's start with the location. Sketchy. Had I not searched for a crêperie and yelp given me precise directions, I would've never found it tucked in the corner of this questionable strip mall. Although, I never want to judge a book by its cover, driving past the abandoned, Red Lobster with the many homeless sleeping out front should have clued me in. The restaurant is itself is small, packed with miscellaneous things, and confusing. It seems as if they are unclear whether this is a crêperie, or a Ukrainian lunch spot with varied items on the menu such as Pavlova's and Borsht. As for the food... to be fair, I only ordered a banana and Nutella crêpe, but it was just mid and not enough to bring me back. From other reviews I see, others have had more positive experiences. We tried Lucy's crepes for the first time and everything was great! It's a small shop tucked in the corner behind the complex but it was a nice intimate vibe. There are lots of options for sweet, savory, vegetarian, and also small desserts. We decided on the avocado mozzarella crepe and the banana Nutella for a mix of sweet and savory. 5/5. Crepes are amongst my favorite food because they're simple, fresh, and made from quality ingredients. And this was probably the best I've had. I love a good chicken crepe and I was very confused whether I wanted to go with the garlic chicken (pesto) crepe or the chipotle chicken crepe. On one hand, I love a traditional pesto sauce/garlic based chicken crepe which is supposedly the most popular here. On the other hand, I also like a bit of spice and chipotle sauce. The owner resolved my confusion and asked me to go for the garlic chicken one. And I did. And it was incredible. I finished it in no time. Super fresh, lots of cheese, lots of chicken, just the right amount of garlic and pesto sauce. I could easily eat this on repeat. They also have so many vegan/vegetarian options to choose from and that's amazing. My friend is a vegan, and she went for the harvest medley customized with vegan cheese instead of dairy based cheese. She loved it. I tasted a bit of it and thought it was great as well. She couldn't finish her dish though. I came in with a plan of NOT eating desserts (as in sweet crepes!) but I got tempted with the other ones they had on display. Especially the honey cake. When I went to order, the honey cakes on display were gone since the people at the other table just bought them. And there was no more, they had to make more. So I instead went for the Napoleon and it was quite good. Very flaky with the puff pastry of course and just the right amount of sweet definitely, not over the top. It was not vegan so I had to eat the whole dessert and I managed to. The best crepes in the Bay Area and I'll be back here in no time even though I have to come all the way from Mountain View. I had been to this complex before to the Indian restaurant nearby, and they're fairly new I believe because they weren't there when I came the last time a few months ago. The berry punch and mint lemonade were both good, and the strawberry smoothie tasted healthier than most. I've never tried borsch before, but since I'd heard about it in the past, I gave it a try. The flavor was light, but it wasn't bland. I thought it was served with condiments and bread. I realized later, on the menu it says cream and green onion are optional. Great customer service. We ordered at the counter and the person helping us gave us recommendations. The proportions for the savory crepe we ordered was huge so she recommended that we get one to share as we also ordered the tiramisu crepe. This was a great option as it allowed us to try a savory and sweet crepe without ordering too much food that we couldn't finish. Both tasted great and would order again! We sat down at a table and she brought out our food. She also shared a couple of freebies such as a strawberry drink and cream puffs as it was their 2nd month open. We weren't expecting anything so that was a nice surprise and it was very sweet of her. There were many seats available and free water at the counter. Very clean as well. The only odd thing that I noticed is that there was a faint sewer/bathroom smell when we walked in. My husband has been to this building before when it was previously a taco place and said it smelled like that all the time. Maybe it's just the location? Not sure! The blueberries are not crisp but are sweet and thankfully there is no mold. The blackberries are not ripe but multicolored. The strawberries are not sweet and do NOT have a strawberry taste to them. What I think is whipped cream is almost like berry yogurt because the presumed whiteness took on the color of the berries. - antioxidant blast smoothie $8; the fruit were packaged separately in different ziplock bags in the freezer. One cup of OJ. A few scoops of flaxseed. Not sweet at all. Very thick. However, it does keep away the thirst aka it is refreshing. This is a cute little cafe located in the Fremont foodmaxx plaza. The cafe was very clean, had good lighting and air circulation, and the tables were spacious and cutely decorated with real flowers. We came here for brunch on a Sunday, and we were quickly able to grab a table and order at the counter. Between the three of us, we shared a savory Italian crepe and a sweet fruit crepe. Both were large in size, stuffed with fillings, and tasted really good. The service was also excellent here, and the owner (?) kept coming to check up on us and offer us samples of new drinks or desserts that they're experimenting with.
