It doesn't hurt to smile! Firstly, I'm happy to say that the food and portions are amazing over here. If you want to eat at a place that has good quality and a big enough portion to either share or take home for leftovers then this is the place to go. There were some notable things that we stumbled across in our dining experience. I had noticed that one of the utensils wasn't washed properly so there was a dried up piece of vegetable or something stuck on it. Also I requested my burger to be cooked medium but when I received my order, it was more so well done with no pink in the middle. One of the two pork chop was cooked great, while the other was a little dry and chewy. Regardless, these were things that didn't warrant calling over a server. The thing that mainly put a stain for our restaurant outing at Skillet'z was the service. Upon walking in we were not greeted with a friendly welcoming and when seated they quickly walked away. The lady who took our order did not even look like she wanted to be there, granted I understand that nobody really enjoys having to go to work but if you need to interact with customers, maybe this isn't the occupation for you. While we were eating there was not a single time that anyone came up to us to ask us how we were doing, if we needed anything, or how the food was. There was a moment where it was someone's birthday at another table and I don't think I've ever heard a more unenthusiastic and monotone announcement for a birthday and a lame excuse for a birthday song. They're not going to bother with dropping off a check/bill for the meal so you need to go up to the counter to pay for the food. Once you step up to the counter keep in mind that more than likely you will encounter a rude interaction and a feeling that you were inconveniencing them. Overall I'll more than likely eat from here again, primarily for the food. But maybe next time we'll consider just taking out to go. read more

Haven't been to Skillet'z in a few years. Went with a friend after a funeral service and I will say their portions are huge. So much I had to take more then half of it home. Can't eat like I use to. The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. They had this giant tv in the front where we were sitting. The vibe feels like a tourist spot where if you were on a roadtrip swinging through and want to leave something there to be remembered by. Love the small trinkets and paper trail they have in the table that we sat at. I kept looking at it because it basically took up the entire wall. I really hate to leave a less then positive review for a small business, but I was genuinely not too happy with our experience. I had brunch with my girlfriends here a few months ago. Being a busy Sunday, we did have to wait about 20 minutes (for our party of 5) which was fine. They did allow one of us to put down our name, but we all had to arrive to be seated. Parking was easy and plentiful in the nearby lot. We are seated at a 4 top which is completely workable however, a bigger table opens up and we asked to move to that table and our request was denied. Then, to add insult to injury, a party of 3 are seated at the larger table! Even though, the food was delicious, and the portions were super generous, we were crowded and uncomfortable. Our server was missing most of the time and our requests for coffee refills were ignored. My girlfriends and I did have an enjoyable meal because we hadn't seen each other in a while and had fun catching up. Aside from the good company, our experience was far from ideal. Came here with three other friends on the weekend around 11 AM and it was very busy, but the system they have is so efficient that it didn't even feel like a long wait. As soon as I walked in, I loved the vibe. The tables are see-through and filled with little momentos, which was really fun to look through while sitting there. There's also a lot of art on the walls, making the whole place feel very lively. One small touch that stood out to me was a wall dedicated to loved ones and pets -- it was really touching and added such a positive feel to the space. The restaurant is a good medium size, with a few small tables outside if you want to sit out there. There's also a parking lot off to the side with plenty of spaces for the strip, so parking wasn't an issue. The food was very good -- tasty and flavorful. Even though I'm giving this place 5 stars because I genuinely loved everything about it, we did find a hair in one of my friend's meals. I recently went to Skillet'z Cafe for a weekend brunch with my girlies. The cafe is located in Niles Town, this area have its own old historical vibe, lowkey felt like I was time traveled to old Hollywood. We arrived around noon and waited about 10-15 minutes for a table on the outdoor patio, not bad at all for peak brunch time. Once seated, the service was incredibly fast and friendly. Their menu got sooo many options + daily specials, so there's something for everyone. There was 3 of us but we ordered 4 plates (as we should lol). We got the classic scramble eggs with hashbrown and bacon, an omelette with spinach and mushroom (also hashbrown ofc), and I got the steak with roasted potato, scramble eggs, and english muffin. For dessert, we got the Sweet Ethan pancake to share because... priorities. My girls also got orange juice and a mocha coffee for their drinks. The portion here is HUGE huge. Everything tasted like it was made with love and care, we were hungry and tried our best to finish the food but still had leftovers... I wasn't hungry again till late dinner time... Different staff are assigned to bringing water, filling coffee, taking orders, delivering food and dropping off the check, so we felt well taken care of. We had a few special requests for our food and the server and kitchen filled our order perfectly. Know that the portions are extremely large, so bring your appetite or consider splitting an entrée. You definitely will not be hungry shortly after this meal. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Skillet'z today. I came in specifically to order the chicken and waffles, only to be told it is strictly a weekday item. It would be incredibly helpful if this information was actually listed online to save customers a wasted trip. Because my main order wasn't available, I decided not to get food. I had already ordered two iced coffees, so I politely asked the waitress if they were ready yet, noting that if they weren't, I would just like to cancel them. She explicitly lied to me, claiming, "They are ready, sorry," and quickly charged me $18. That was completely untrue. After paying, I was forced to wait 14 minutes for two simple iced coffees. To make matters worse, I watched her serve iced coffees to other tables while completely ignoring mine. When I finally asked her why there was such a delay since she claimed they were already made, she completely flipped, gave me massive attitude, and was incredibly rude. To top it all off: The Drinks Were Awful: The vanilla and caramel iced coffees had absolutely no flavor. They just tasted like bitter, strong coffee. $18 straight into the garbage. No Receipt Provided: When I asked for my receipt, she flat-out refused or failed to provide it to me. The owner seriously needs to look into this employee's behavior and attitude toward paying customers. Lying to prevent a cancellation and then giving attitude when caught is completely unacceptable. Save your money and go somewhere that values honesty and basic customer service. read more

The Bravo omelet was super soft and fluffy, loaded with mushrooms, tomatoes, avocado, and bacon--really fresh and not heavy at all. We were looking for a family friendly brunch experience before hitting up the Niles Farmer's Market and found Skillet'z Cafe just around the corner. Luckily there was no line at 8:30 in the morning on a Saturday. Rating Breakdown: 1/2 Stars for Taste -- The menu is HUGE and it was difficult to pick just one thing to order. I ended up choosing the Tio Pancho because I can never resist biscuits and gravy. The scramble itself was good, I'm a big fan of their chorizo as it's not overpoweringly sour/tangy like some other places. It was also mild enough that my kids were able to try a little. I opted for the hash browns which added a nice crispiness into the mix. I would actually skip the biscuits and gravy next time -- the biscuits are on the cake-y side and the gravy is a bit bland. My husband ordered the Mexican chicken fried steak. The steak itself was also bland, but it was fine paired with the chorizo and sauce on top. Their hashbrowns are crispy on the outside but made thick with a more mushy inside, not our favorite. My husband's sunny side eggs were also a bit underdone, the egg whites were still runny. We were both fans of the salsa that came on the side. For the kiddos, we got one pancake. We're glad we only got one because it was literally the same size as the dinner plate it came on. It was super fluffy and thiccccc, just how I love it. It was also not too sweet by itself so I felt less bad about giving it to the kiddos. I would say the dishes are served "rustic", it's not the most instagrammable if that matters to you, but it is a mountain of food and a veritable feast. 1/1 Stars for Value -- It's about $20 per entree and the serving sizes are humongous. They have us fill in our names and times we come here and then seated us based on the party. Luckily for me since I'm the only one dining here, I was the first one to be called in. They make us order before we get seated depending on the party size. I heard that they have a patio section, but unsure where it is because I've never seen it. I heard that we have to walk around the restaurant and it's all the way at the back. The restaurant is small and makes me wonder how can they fit a lot of people inside. The corned beef is different compared to other breakfast restaurants. It's mushier and they served us salsa, but that's probably for the potatoes. For the hot coffee, they gave me a large cup. Usually, restaurants serve us small ones. I made my promise to come back here but it's been almost two years now. I'll try to come here a little more often. read more
