The New York steak sandwich was super satisfying, with big chunky pieces of steak and avocado that made it extra good. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Skillet'z today. I came in specifically to order the chicken and waffles, only to be told it is strictly a weekday item. It would be incredibly helpful if this information was actually listed online to save customers a wasted trip. Because my main order wasn't available, I decided not to get food. I had already ordered two iced coffees, so I politely asked the waitress if they were ready yet, noting that if they weren't, I would just like to cancel them. She explicitly lied to me, claiming, "They are ready, sorry," and quickly charged me $18. That was completely untrue. After paying, I was forced to wait 14 minutes for two simple iced coffees. To make matters worse, I watched her serve iced coffees to other tables while completely ignoring mine. When I finally asked her why there was such a delay since she claimed they were already made, she completely flipped, gave me massive attitude, and was incredibly rude. To top it all off: The Drinks Were Awful: The vanilla and caramel iced coffees had absolutely no flavor. They just tasted like bitter, strong coffee. $18 straight into the garbage. No Receipt Provided: When I asked for my receipt, she flat-out refused or failed to provide it to me. Luckily there was no line at 8:30 in the morning on a Saturday. Rating Breakdown: 1/2 Stars for Taste -- The menu is HUGE and it was difficult to pick just one thing to order. I ended up choosing the Tio Pancho because I can never resist biscuits and gravy. The scramble itself was good, I'm a big fan of their chorizo as it's not overpoweringly sour/tangy like some other places. It was also mild enough that my kids were able to try a little. I opted for the hash browns which added a nice crispiness into the mix. I would actually skip the biscuits and gravy next time -- the biscuits are on the cake-y side and the gravy is a bit bland. My husband ordered the Mexican chicken fried steak. The steak itself was also bland, but it was fine paired with the chorizo and sauce on top. Their hashbrowns are crispy on the outside but made thick with a more mushy inside, not our favorite. My husband's sunny side eggs were also a bit underdone, the egg whites were still runny. We were both fans of the salsa that came on the side. For the kiddos, we got one pancake. We're glad we only got one because it was literally the same size as the dinner plate it came on. It was super fluffy and thiccccc, just how I love it. It was also not too sweet by itself so I felt less bad about giving it to the kiddos. I really hate to leave a less then positive review for a small business, but I was genuinely not too happy with our experience. I had brunch with my girlfriends here a few months ago. Being a busy Sunday, we did have to wait about 20 minutes (for our party of 5) which was fine. They did allow one of us to put down our name, but we all had to arrive to be seated. Parking was easy and plentiful in the nearby lot. We are seated at a 4 top which is completely workable however, a bigger table opens up and we asked to move to that table and our request was denied. Then, to add insult to injury, a party of 3 are seated at the larger table! Even though, the food was delicious, and the portions were super generous, we were crowded and uncomfortable. Our server was missing most of the time and our requests for coffee refills were ignored. My girlfriends and I did have an enjoyable meal because we hadn't seen each other in a while and had fun catching up. Aside from the good company, our experience was far from ideal. Came here with three other friends on the weekend around 11 AM and it was very busy, but the system they have is so efficient that it didn't even feel like a long wait. They take your party name and your order outside, so by the time you're seated, your food comes out almost instantly. Everything felt super fast even though there was a wait. As soon as I walked in, I loved the vibe. The tables are see-through and filled with little momentos, which was really fun to look through while sitting there. There's also a lot of art on the walls, making the whole place feel very lively. The cafe is located in Niles Town, this area have its own old historical vibe, lowkey felt like I was time traveled to old Hollywood. We arrived around noon and waited about 10-15 minutes for a table on the outdoor patio, not bad at all for peak brunch time. Once seated, the service was incredibly fast and friendly. Their menu got sooo many options + daily specials, so there's something for everyone. There was 3 of us but we ordered 4 plates (as we should lol). My wife ordered a veggie scramble with hashbrowns, I ordered the Papa Benjamin scramble. Both were supposed to have cheese and if they did, you could barely find it. They make us order before we get seated depending on the party size. I heard that they have a patio section, but unsure where it is because I've never seen it. I heard that we have to walk around the restaurant and it's all the way at the back. The restaurant is small and makes me wonder how can they fit a lot of people inside. The corned beef is different compared to other breakfast restaurants. It's mushier and they served us salsa, but that's probably for the potatoes. For the hot coffee, they gave me a large cup. There is a decent sized parking lot adjacent to the cafe but it quickly filled up as soon as we left. There is also street parking available. We wrote our name down on a clipboard out in front of the restaurant. There was an employee that went down the wait list and took people's orders, which I found quite efficient. While you wait, I suggest perusing the menu and deciding what to order. We got really lucky and only had to wait around 10-15 minutes to get seated. Since we had already placed our orders while waiting outside, we didn't have to wait too long until our food arrived once we were seated. I ordered the Decoto Loaded Hash Browns with a side of wheat toast. The portions were huge but I was surprisingly able to finish the majority of it. The loaded hash browns came with sauteed veggies, sliced avocado, a spicy pepper and two eggs cooked to your preference. The side of salsa paired well with the dish and I liked how the toast was already buttered. My bf ordered Charlie's burrito with chorizo. It looked like a hefty and filling burrito. I took a bite of it and wished there was more chorizo than potato in the burrito. It also came with a side of sliced jalapenos and salsa. We also shared their drink of the day which was an oreo matcha. It was basically a shake and really good! Once you're done, take your receipt to the counter and pay for your meal.
