A quick update. Whenever we're in need of a good bagel sandwich, we definitely think of Daily Bagel Cafe. They are quite popular so depending on when you go, there might be a wait or a line. But it's a cozy local shop. I kind of wish they still had donuts though. Credit card is now only a minimum of $6. Today we got a sausage egg cheese on a sun dried tomoto bagel and a nova lox on a rye bagel. Both sizeable and great. Still get a bit taken aback with the total price when I pay but it's fine. It's a treat for us. Still will keep coming back and I hope they stay for a while! read more

I can confidently say these are the best bagels in Fremont; because I have tried ALL the bagels in Fremont These are made the correct way; boiled and baked! The texture is correct. I lived here nearly my entire life and went to the high school nearby... yet I did not even know this place existed until this morning when I was craving a bagel. ORDERED: jalapeño cheese bagel with cream cheese. The top with the cheese was so crunchy. The bagel overall was nice and chewy. I appreciated that they did not plaster on a ton of cream cheese (even though one would complain it's not worth the $). Total cost: $5 ***they whip all their cream cheeses by adding milk*** SERVICE: friendly and quick. Direct and straight to the point with no small talk. AMBIENCE: there are tables and chairs. Once in a blue moon workers do stick around enjoying their food and pre-brewed coffee. Very typical donut shop vibes (except they don't have donuts). Located in now a vacated Lucky/Albertson plaza with Starbucks, bakery, etc. nearby; therefore, a rarely full large private parking lot with well sized spots. Bagel sandwiches are definitely underrated in my opinion. My husband was looking for a quick bite for breakfast after playing basketball and ended up finding this spot thanks to Yelp. The plaza was a ghost town but the cafe was surprisingly busy. There were a lot of customers coming in and out. I think it is a local mom and pop shop since I noticed a bunch of aunties in the back making sandwiches, and they looked so cute! They have so many different bagel flavors, but he ended up getting a jalapeño cheese bagel with egg and sausage. I took a couple of bites and it was really good. I used to go to this place when I was a kid living in Fremont. We just called it "bagel shop" and we would always come by for lunch with a hangover after Saturday School (the penalty for truancy at MSJHS). This morning, I revisited it, and it has not declined one bit. I always used to get the turkey club on a jalapeno cheddar bagel, so I did again, and I wanted to cry because it was exactly as good as I remembered it being when I was 17. Not sure if I went on an 'off' day or if I'm just missing something, but I don't quite get the hype. Bagels are decent, but service is slow and the prices seem steep for what they offer. I stopped by around 12pm on a Saturday and there were about 4-5 parties waiting in the store. The storefront itself is very casual, no-frills, and small. Even with only 4-5 parties, the cafe felt a little cramped and the fact service was slow didn't seem to help. It took about 10 minutes for me to place my order. There wasn't a dedicated cashier person; Daily Bagel seems family-owned and the small number of staff (2-3 total) went back and forth from the cashier, back kitchen, and front prep area. Take-out only. No indoor dining spaces. I paid $9.37 for a turkey and egg wheat bagel sandwich. I was disappointed by their bagel choices :( There were very few bagel options available and most were sold out, despite the store being busy at lunch. Hopefully there'll be more options in stock next time. I waited around 10 min for my food. The bagel itself was okay; no complaints about the bagel itself but it wasn't anything super special. I wasn't a fan of the cheese they used but I appreciate the amount of egg they gave me. A bagel with cream cheese is $4, which seems pricey compared to other bagel places in the bay area. It's an additional charge if you want low-fat cream cheese. They also have a sign indicating they charge extra for slicing and toasting (aside from sandwiches), which is a little.... ridiculous? I would think slicing and toasting would be complimentary, as it is at other cafes. I also wish they'd expand their cream cheese options. They have about 4-5, which is limited compared to other places. If I just wanted a bagel and cream cheese, I'm better off just buying pre-sliced bagels and cream cheese at Safeway or Costco. If I was really craving a warm sandwich in particular, I guess I'd come back here but I think I'll try other places in Fremont first. $6 minimum for credit card by the way. read more

It was Finals week, and i had finished my final quite early. "May i please go to the bathroom?" Once excused i ran as fast as i could to my car, started the engine, and drove off to none other than our local Bagel shop tucked away in the same plaza as Starbucks. I quickly ordered my bagel along with the guy in class that sits behind me one as well. As soon as i could i jumped back in my car and headed straight back to class, no questions were asked, and i did it all within 15 minutes. This was the go to spot in high school as this small, fast pace, and efficient bagel shop was perfect for a little pick me up meal. My most recent order was a cheese bagel with extra cream cheese, eggs,and bacon had me wishing upon a star. I used to be a smoked salmon bagel girl, and was never disappointed as the fresh salmon was smooth and easy to swallow. The salmon taste did not overpower the plain cream cheese nor the lemon cappers that come included with the bagel sandwich. The only one complaint I've ever had for this shop would be the one occasion i ordered a salmon bagel, but was misheard and got the number 7 bagel which left me extremely displeased as it was a combination i couldn't even remotely try and enjoy. Overall i do believe this is the place you should give a try for all your brunch breakfast and lunch needs. read more

Small little bagel shop (only 2 four person tables) that makes classic style sandwiches with them and also carries a variety of cream cheeses. You can also get croissant sandwiches too. Not overly awesome or anything, but it's really solid. Bagels are always soft and fresh and they toast them perfectly. The decor of the place is stuck in the 80's however. Let's start with the bagels. They are good bagels. I order a toasted garlic bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. The JCC is spicy . That's the way I like it. They toast the bagel to a nice crunch. This was exactly what I was looking for and they have great coffee. They offer half and half which is another treat. After trying it the first time I was there everyday I had the chance. Definitely recommend. Service is fast and friendly. They are family owned and have their little girl helping out. I love this place! The shop has 4 tables and I enjoyed sitting inside enjoying the Euro Cup games. They do a lot of to go orders but at least 1 day they had a packed house. Came here because I love bagels and this place popped up first on Yelp and seemed to have solid reviews. Love that it's family owned, and everyone seems happy to work there on a Sunday morning! Workers are friendly. However, their bagels are so bland, tough, and much too expensive for what it's worth. Everything (combo) bagel with sun-dried tomato cream cheese: 0/5 stars. The bagel is extremely pale and should have been called a "nothing" bagel because of how much "stuff" it lacked. I like un-toasted bagels, and by not toasting, I'm able to gauge the freshness of the bagel better than when it's toasted. This bagel was so tough and chewy, not fluffy or soft at all. Sausage and egg (with cheese) on a Jalapeño cheese bagel: jalapeño flavor was there but there weren't really any jalapeño chunks. The only good thing about this bagel sandwich was that you get a double sausage patty. $7.99 for this tiny thing... felt like I was grabbing an overpriced McDonald's breakfast menu item. No indoor dining--take out only. ** cash only for orders under $5. No signs posted anywhere for this, just overheard the worker tell a customer when she tried to pay with a card. For half the price of what I paid for here, you can go to Costco and get a dozen bagels that are soft, fluffy, and fresh. Also recommend Boichik Bagels in Palo Alto or Berkeley. Had this place bookmarked for a while. It's on the way to 680 freeway but worth a visit. the bagel flavor selection is more extensive then I have seen at other places like pesto and sundried tomato. We got the sausage and egg and lox sandwich. They were both really good but the lox was pretty expensive $12.50. There could honestly be a nostalgic factor that plays a role in my rating, but I love the Daily Bagel Cafe. Since high school, I've visited regularly, and have always ordered the same thing: BLT on Sourdough Bagel (will opt in for a Jalapeno Bagel if the Sourdough isn't available). It's pretty good. The bagel is made to perfection: crisp and well-fried on the outside, chewy and soft on the inside. However, one thing to note is that the prices of the sandwiches have increased by 2x in the last couple of years, granted, it's also justified. What keeps me coming back is the friendliness of the staff. Despite being away for months at a time at college, the owners of the shop remember my order whenever I come back and visit over breaks. 10/10 for service, 8/10 for food and prices. read more

If you grew up in the Mission San Jose neighborhood and/or went to MSJ High School, you've probably heard of Daily Bagel Cafe - this place has been such a constant over the last many years, known for their affordable variety of fresh bagels and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. SANDWICHES: There's a huge menu on one wall that shows the different filling options - pick whatever your heart and taste buds most desire! I usually get the BLT, turkey avocado, or Nova lox, on either a croissant or bagel. (Why get slices of bread when you can pick a buttery, flaky croissant or a fresh, chewy bagel of your choice?!) I especially love their croissants, particularly when toasted. Not sure if you can buy the croissants by themselves though. I recall the good ol' days when the sandwiches were only $5 each... Prices have gone up since then, but still not a bad deal if you're in the area and want a quick and tasty meal. BAGELS: If you already have sandwich filling ingredients at home, or just want lots of bagels, I recommend getting only the bagels at the shop and then making your own sandwich at home for a better deal. Bagels alone are only $1 each (technically, 99 cents according to the menu, but they get rounded up...) Toast it lightly; add on some freshly-cooked eggs + bacon + cheese, or some cream cheese, or whatever else you have on hand; and you have yourself a delicious meal for a lot cheaper. DONUTS: They also have donuts--I've tried the Apple fritter which was huge for only $2. It was very deep-fried, with the edges almost burnt, but it also meant it stayed nice and crispy for the entire day that it lasted in my house. We hit up this popular mom and pop bagel shop after our first visit to Sunol Regional Wilderness. We were famished. Undaunted by the line outside the shop, we waited to place our orders. My daughter opted for a Egg on sourdough while I opted for the Egg, Cheese, and Bacon on Sundried tomato. Initially they were out of sourdough. However, we gasped in glee as a tray of freshly made bagels were taken out of the oven and dumped into the bin. We also watched as fresh bagels were made. That was a first for us. When I got to the store, there were about 4-5 people ahead of me and so it seems kind of difficult to socially distance in the store with multiple people in it. Not sure how that works but the line move fairly quickly. I saw the raving reviews and so I was very excited to try this place. We ordered two sandwiches - one egg and cheese and one bacon, egg, and cheese - both on everything. Then we also got a garlic bagel and jalapeño bagel. The bagels were very soft and fresh. However the everything bagel was missing some spices - not enough garlic/onion and so it was a bit bland. The egg was microwaved and the jalapeño bagel was pretty plain with only small bits of jalapeños inside (not on top). Overall, I thought this place was okay and very reasonably priced (coffee, 2 bagels, and 2 bagel sandwiches for $16) but the bagels were a bit plain for my liking. read more
