The atmosphere is lively and energetic, so it can get a bit loud from all the conversation. If you're looking for a quiet place to work or study, you may want to bring earplugs or headphones. I used to come here pretty frequently around February 2026, the service was nice, the coffee was great, and the atmosphere was nice. I had a nice interaction with the Asian kid with blonde hair and the other boy that was working, the service was quick! Until recently, been coming in for the past month, I didn't expect things to change so drastically in terms of customer service. I normally do not critic nor do I use yelp to write reviews but I am leaving this here. My recent visits have been terrible, especially on the weekend. The wait is not the issue nor is the coffee. It's the service now, the white woman is insanely rude. I understand the frustration of working and the use of a "customer service" voice, she is just insanely passive aggressive. Her fake attitude doesn't make things better. Saw the doordashers comment and I was there when he had his issue. The white woman didn't put in his order and the same Asian kid was there. He is usually friendly but from what I've seen that day, the white woman made him have a reaction to the situation. She used her passive aggressiveness and even yelled at the doordasher to sit down and wait. I am only speaking up now because of my most recent visits. Cute coffee shop to be productive at! I went during the afternoon and there were a lot of people there working/studying. The AC was running so it was a little refuge from the heat. They have a large outdoor patio that is partly covered, and plants provided shade to some of the tables that weren't covered. I got the honey lavender latte iced and it exceeded my expectations. Both the lavender and honey were prominent, it was a good balance of flavors. I had taken a few sips after receiving the drink and then didn't drink it again until after all the ice had melted, and it didn't even taste super watered down. A lot of reviews mention parking in Apna Mandi's parking lot behind the cafe. However, the spots in that lot closest to the coffee shop have bright red signs saying "No Coffee Shop Parking" and that violators will be towed. I ended up following one of the reviews and parked in the Safeway plaza across the street. It would be nice if Hops & Beans clarified whether or not customers actually allowed to park in the lot behind the cafe, or any alternatives. read more

Such a cozy and welcoming cafe that is a gem of Fremont! Staff is always helpful and friendly, the vibe of course is so warm, it's a great place to get some work done or hang out (especially with your dog on the patio!) I really wanted to like this place since I've been trying to find a place to study that's close to Hayward. Parking is very confusing. The parking lot in the back is technically for the grocery store only so keep that in mind just in case they start towing vehicles. This location has a patio that I wish I should've just sat in instead of sitting inside. I ordered the artichoke & cucumber toast with salmon, the lavander latter and the jamaica tea. I did enjoy the toast although the salmon was a bit to fishy for me and the fishyness lingered in my mouth the whole night. The Lavander latte was actually really good. Perfect sweetness and perfect amount of lavander and not over powering. I didn't expdect the Jamaica tea to be bubbly but it was a good drink. I did request for it to not be to sweet so they were able to adjust that. So I remove one star because of the cleanliness. I was seating by the window and just saw how dirty the base of the window is. I don't think they have wiped down their windows or the surrounding areas since there's just crumbs everywhere. I'm not sure when their last general cleaning or deep cleaning was but they are definitely due for one. Another reason why I removed another star is safety. Given that this location is in their downtown area, the amount of unhoused people that goes in and out of this cafe to sit and get water was high. I probably saw three just in the one hour in a half I was there. I just felt so uneasy, and could not focus on studying because I was more busy making sure that my surroundings were safe so I eventually left since I couldn't focus. This place definitely gets pretty busy so if you're going to come especially with a large group be prepared to might not have a table. They do have a lot of seating availability but it fills up fast. read more

The service took a long time and the coffee taste burnt a bit. The breakfast burritos were not good it had what they call is greens it was cucumber and spinach I think.. I like cucumber but not in my breakfast burritos. I guess it's just personal preference. I was here during Covid and this place has changed for the better. The inside gives calming, cozy vibes. Inside decor consists of green, gold and floral patterns. The lady that took our order was nice and our drinks were made pretty quickly. Ordered 3 drinks and my ratings are as follows: *Island Latte (Coconut, Macadamia, Espresso) 8.5/10 * Spiced Cinnamon Latte (Cinnamon, Vanilla, White Chocolate , Espresso) 8/10 *Gingerbread iced Espresso 7/10 Overall solid 4 stars. Great beer selection and while the menu is limited, everything we tried was so good. My daughter, who recently moved to Fremont, invited me to a Saturday brunch. When she chose Hops and Beans I needlessly wondered if the food would be an after thought to the coffee. You know the worry - Think Starbucks. I'm not a hater of the great green monolith. A basic cup served fast and found at every street corner has its place but that place with its microwaved egg bites IS NOT brunch. I needn't have worried. It can be a bit hectic as you can't really cut through the back to come back from the patio. I think they changed this sometime when COVID hit. Visited the cafe this past weekend, and the place offered ample seating in a bright and spacious indoor setting. It was quite busy, so I appreciated the fast-moving line at the front counter. But the wait for my takeout order to be ready was fairly long, about 25-30 minutes on a Sunday around noon time, for a single sandwich. Luckily, it was worth the wait. The monte cristo was delish! Tasty ham, scrambled eggs, and cheese, sandwiched between two thick slices of buttery french toast... yum! The mustard was unnecessary IMO, and I can't imagine how that goes with the syrup (which comes on the side). But I would totally get this again, probably minus the mustard. I got one of their specialty drinks which was a raspberry mocha at the time and it was pretty good! Tasted pretty natural and didn't have an artificial raspberry flavor or anything. I came in once with a friend who was having an off day and acting like a bit of a Karen to the employees. I felt soo embarrassed about it honestly but baristas handled the situation with kindness and professionalism. I've had plenty of jobs in food service; personally if someone came at me sideways like that I would've gotten fired on the spot for clapping back. Just being honest! But they won't do that here, the employees are SO friendly. Kind of a pain to find seating sometimes but that's the case at most cafés. When I asked at the end, someone told me they didn't put the order which basically means they're just about to start it. Then they started fighting together then one of them turned at me aggressively and said it will be 10 minutes you can sit until it's ready. At this point i was already waiting for 5-10 minutes. I think they need to solve their internal management problems and fix their relationships together before taken it out in the customer especially that the whole thing is their fault. Came here for lunch on a weekday, it was quite busy. They have coffee as well as some bakery and hot items, like sandwiches. I really enjoyed the coffee here, I got a lavender latte. The sandwiches are nice too, they are on thick slices of brioche bread and are filling and tasty. Loved it! There's a parking lot behind the cafe so was super easy to find a spot. The cafe is pretty big with lots of tables all around. There were people working on their laptops, catching up with friends, etc (I was there on a sunday). They also have an outdoors area in the back with benches and big sun umbrellas -- super nice for a good weather day! Lots of interesting coffee flavors, my friends and I ordered the blackberry fog, a strawberry pistachio latte and a cardamom rose latte. The flavor came through on all the drinks which is pretty rare especially with mixed flavors, so very happy with that! Overall good drink and fairly priced. Because this place is located at the corner of an intersection, you can only rely on street parking or finding a spot in the nearby grocery store parking lot behind the store.
