I got a pulled pork sando on sourdough. The picture on the menu showed on a regular bun but this on sourdough was so good!!! wish it came with some fries for the price but the sandwich was super good. Staff was friendly, and the outside seating is nice in the right weather. I don't like their coffee but that's not what i'm reviewing today.

I went during the afternoon and there were a lot of people there working/studying.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The AC was running so it was a little refuge from the heat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a large outdoor patio that is partly covered, and plants provided shade to some of the tables that weren't covered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the honey lavender latte iced and it exceeded my expectations. Both the lavender and honey were prominent, it was a good balance of flavors. I had taken a few sips after receiving the drink and then didn't drink it again until after all the ice had melted, and it didn't even taste super watered down. A lot of reviews mention parking in Apna Mandi's parking lot behind the cafe. However, the spots in that lot closest to the coffee shop have bright red signs saying "No Coffee Shop Parking" and that violators will be towed. I ended up following one of the reviews and parked in the Safeway plaza across the street. It would be nice if Hops & Beans clarified whether or not customers actually allowed to park in the lot behind the cafe, or any alternatives.
Went for breakfast here with some friends. I have very good things to say about it. The food was delicious and pretty prompt. Glad this yelp suggestion was legit!! LORD!! The avocado toast! Fresh, good size, egg on top! Price was right! DELICIOSO!! And my lavender honey soy latte on a holiday- after a 3 hrs drive! AMAZING! I'm super happy I stopped by! The staff... I could kindly suggest up the costumer service, smile, I could hardly hear her when I asked about the bathroom! I really wanted to like this place since I've been trying to find a place to study that's close to Hayward. Parking is very confusing. The parking lot in the back is technically for the grocery store only so keep that in mind just in case they start towing vehicles. This location has a patio that I wish I should've just sat in instead of sitting inside. I ordered the artichoke & cucumber toast with salmon, the lavander latter and the jamaica tea. I did enjoy the toast although the salmon was a bit to fishy for me and the fishyness lingered in my mouth the whole night. The Lavander latte was actually really good. Perfect sweetness and perfect amount of lavander and not over powering. I didn't expdect the Jamaica tea to be bubbly but it was a good drink. I did request for it to not be to sweet so they were able to adjust that. So I remove one star because of the cleanliness. I was seating by the window and just saw how dirty the base of the window is. I don't think they have wiped down their windows or the surrounding areas since there's just crumbs everywhere. I'm not sure when their last general cleaning or deep cleaning was but they are definitely due for one. Another reason why I removed another star is safety. Given that this location is in their downtown area, the amount of unhoused people that goes in and out of this cafe to sit and get water was high. I probably saw three just in the one hour in a half I was there. I just felt so uneasy, and could not focus on studying because I was more busy making sure that my surroundings were safe so I eventually left since I couldn't focus. This place definitely gets pretty busy so if you're going to come especially with a large group be prepared to might not have a table. They do have a lot of seating availability but it fills up fast.
A hidden gem in the heart of Fremont with cool ambience and even better flavors. First thing you notice is the vibe of this cafe. This is one the top reasons I'm going to come back to this cafe again and again. They have many interesting coffee options. I have tried several loved them all. My husband prefers stronger coffee and this cafe has served him well. I have tried their chicken crepe. This is very flavorful and huge quality. I had dressing on the side. This dressing is game changer. We tried meditarían toast, that was also very flavorful with some unique take on toast. My server was very attentive, too. Overall, definitely going to visit this cafe !!!

Possibly a fitting establishment if you ordered and took items to go.

A great go to for me whenever I need to meet someone during weekdays for coffee. The weekends get a bit crowded with grocery shoppers and parking can be hard then. There is a variety of coffee, tea and food options. There are lots of inside seating and outside seating. The service is quick and it is quiet.
Fantastic food at a reasonable price. Was not expecting this good a breakfast for a coffee shop but it was every bit as good as a regular sit down place. The breakfast crepe included a honey mustard drizzle that was surprisingly good and complimented the breakfast! Service was good (stand up to order) and ambiance is very coffee shop with a touch of hipster to it. Very good, worth coming back just for breakfast!
I was here during Covid and this place has changed for the better. The inside gives calming, cozy vibes. Inside decor consists of green, gold and floral patterns. The lady that took our order was nice and our drinks were made pretty quickly. Ordered 3 drinks and my ratings are as follows: *Island Latte (Coconut, Macadamia, Espresso) 8.5/10 * Spiced Cinnamon Latte (Cinnamon, Vanilla, White Chocolate , Espresso) 8/10 *Gingerbread iced Espresso 7/10 Overall solid 4 stars. The flavors are good, only thing I would critique is that the drinks need to be more espresso forward. Next time I'll add an additional shot to give my drink more of a boost.

This was my first visit, and I was drawn in by the menu; it sounded delicious and definitely lived up to my expectations. I tried the Rose Cardamom Coffee, and a morning bun, it was outstanding! The flavors were perfectly balanced in my coffee, with neither the rose nor the cardamom overpowering the other. Review from my visit on 7/13/26 hops and beans is the same vibes but i think the quality has declined. We got the chicken quesadilla and it tasted like frozen pizza and bland and undercooked and was overall very underwhelming. EVEN MORE CONCERNING, three slices had chicken bone my friend accidentally swallowed it and could have choked. furthermore it is supposed be chicken breast so i have no clue how they got bone in there. terrible experience with the new workers and very disappointed about this recent trip. read more

Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed with what we got. I ordered an iced Black Forest mocha and my sister got an iced island latte. Both drinks were underwhelming. Mine mostly tasted like sweetened milk, and I couldn't taste any espresso or raspberry flavor at all. I'm honestly not sure if my order was made incorrectly or if something was just off. My sister's drink tasted like watered-down coconut milk with very little flavor. We were disappointed enough that we ended up tossing both drinks on our way home. Cool coffee shop with lots of indoor seating. We ordered a couple of breakfast burritos, a chocolate croissant, an iced tea, and a latte. Our order was to go. Food was good, but too much dehydrated onion in the breakfast burrito and I'll ask to exclude that next time. I also ordered my burrito with no aioli. Medium roast in the latte. Casual. We came early so parking was easy but I can see it getting more difficult later on in the day. Please come and create your own adventure. read more

This was my first time here and the coffee tasted nothing like coffee it was just straight milk not even any flavor and for an $8 drink i was expecting a lot more. The worker at the coffee bar had an AirPod in and was not friendly when I asked for the bathroom key she just pointed at it not saying anything. Loved my lunch visit to Hops and Beans in Irvington! Cozy interior with plenty of seating, plus a cute outdoor area out back. Great beer selection and while the menu is limited, everything we tried was so good. We got the Caprese and the Mission Peak sandwich (a special)--both were delicious, but the Mission Peak needs to be a permanent item, seriously. Ysella was super sweet and gave awesome recs that totally hit the mark. Can't wait to come back for breakfast! read more
My daughter, who recently moved to Fremont, invited me to a Saturday brunch. When she chose Hops and Beans I needlessly wondered if the food would be an after thought to the coffee. You know the worry - Think Starbucks. I'm not a hater of the great green monolith. A basic cup served fast and found at every street corner has its place but that place with its microwaved egg bites IS NOT brunch. I needn't have worried. We ordered the Chaplin and a breakfast burrito and found both sufficiently yummy. They won't make me forget prime Hobees but they paired great with our excellent lavender coffees. So a funky setting, retro art, outdoor patio, and delish food and roasted bean beverages! Good choice kid. read more
Lovely brunch spot in Fremont that is quite busy on the weekends! There was a bit of a wait before they took my order, but the food came out faster than the 30 minute estimate they gave! I enjoyed the rose cardamom latte and the Sunrise sandwich. The sandwich was very filling and the latte was a perfect blend of espresso and milk! Note that oatmilk is an extra $.90 charge and it's a little difficult to find parking, as there was a farmer's market going on that blocked off one of the streets. read more

The service took a long time and the coffee taste burnt a bit. The breakfast burritos were not good it had what they call is greens it was cucumber and spinach I think.. I like cucumber but not in my breakfast burritos. I guess it's just personal preference. One of Fremont's old coffee shop. I heard they changed owners on this place maybe twice or three times but not sure. We went on a weekend morning so it was packed. The cafe is big, high ceilings, plenty of seats. We got some lates and carrot cake. All were very good. Would love to come back to try more items! read more

TLDR: Indoor & Outdoor Seating Wifi & Outlets (Inside) Good Drinks & Food --------------------------------------- 1. Atmosphere Good place to study, work from home, or catch up with friends! Plenty of indoor seating & outlets. I love the potted plants on the inside, but it can be a bit noisier, so I tend to sit outside. The patio has plenty of shaded seating! Only downside is no outlets. 2. Drinks / Food Love the variety of drinks! TONS of different lattes, teas, frappes, & smoothies with unique flavor combos! I tried the Honey Lavender Latte (7/10), Rose Cardamom Latte (9/10), Café Borgia Latte (8/10), & Golden Latte (9/10). There's also crepes, toasts, omelettes, sandwiches, salads, & more. I tried the California Melt (9/10) & Caprese Grilled Cheese (7/10). 3. Amenities No parking designated for the cafe, but there's a plaza behind it with lots of parking. I park at the Safeway and walk across the street. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors; free wifi and outlets inside. There's a bathroom, which is a bit small and dark but functional. Updated my review after talking with one of the staff here, thank you and my apologies as well. I like this cafe and like the fact that it's close to my home and I can walk here whenever I want. Nice designs and a comfy, homey vibe. Gets crowded here and there. Staff are pretty friendly and service is prompt. Some good offerings and a patio to sit outside. It can be a bit hectic as you can't really cut through the back to come back from the patio. I think they changed this sometime when COVID hit. In the past, some of the drinks I've tried are the butterscotch latte hot (very good), berry pistachio, and the spiced cinnamon to name a few. Visited the cafe this past weekend, and the place offered ample seating in a bright and spacious indoor setting. It was quite busy, so I appreciated the fast-moving line at the front counter. But the wait for my takeout order to be ready was fairly long, about 25-30 minutes on a Sunday around noon time, for a single sandwich. Luckily, it was worth the wait. The monte cristo was delish! Tasty ham, scrambled eggs, and cheese, sandwiched between two thick slices of buttery french toast... yum! The mustard was unnecessary IMO, and I can't imagine how that goes with the syrup (which comes on the side). But I would totally get this again, probably minus the mustard. FYI, parking was a pain, especially with a farmers market happening nearby... beware if you plan to come by on a Sunday. read more

This place is a gem! The drinks are delicious and I always order the nutella crepe. I haven't tried any of their savory offerings but I've been told those are pretty good too. I frequent cafés to read, get work done, or catch up with friends, and Hops & Beans is perfect for all of the above. It's generally pretty quiet regardless of which day of the week it is, or the types of patrons that come through. Service at Hops & Beans is phenomenal and I wanna touch on that more than I usually do in my other reviews. I came in once with a friend who was having an off day and acting like a bit of a Karen to the employees. I felt soo embarrassed about it honestly but baristas handled the situation with kindness and professionalism. I've had plenty of jobs in food service; personally if someone came at me sideways like that I would've gotten fired on the spot for clapping back. Just being honest! But they won't do that here, the employees are SO friendly. Kind of a pain to find seating sometimes but that's the case at most cafés. There's enough turnover that you'll get one if you're patient. read more

Hops & Beans is a cute tight spot to grab a drink, bite, and do some work. The ambiance is really cozy, the service was great, and there's enough room in the place to enjoy your alone time. However, I wasn't a big fan of the food and drinks. The Spinach and Artichoke dip was a little too acidic and watered down for my liking and the spiced cinnamon latte was overpowered with oatmilk. The Lox on Toast was very filling, fresh, and delicious however! Id definitely recommend that dish if anything. Id like to give this place another shot with their food and drinks, overall I recommend! read more

Came here for lunch on a weekday, it was quite busy. They have coffee as well as some bakery and hot items, like sandwiches. I really enjoyed the coffee here, I got a lavender latte. The sandwiches are nice too, they are on thick slices of brioche bread and are filling and tasty. I think people often come here to work, there is plenty of seating inside and outside for people to hang out. Definitely worth checking out. read more
Loved it! There's a parking lot behind the cafe so was super easy to find a spot. The cafe is pretty big with lots of tables all around. There were people working on their laptops, catching up with friends, etc (I was there on a sunday). First time here with sweetheart and her high school classmate Jojo (1971). Friendly and warm welcome. Busy but lucky we're able to grab a table. Ambiance was quiet and comfortable. Good service. The Chaplin sandwich so delicious and so was the Monte Cristo. Chaplin's combo ingredients of scrambled eggs, basil, bacon on Ciabatta bread with chipotle dressing was exceptional. Simple yet satisfying and enjoyable. Monte Cristo was as good even without syrup (can't have it). Finishing up with hot smoking black coffee, didn't need anything else. Such a lively coffee shop! This spot is a perfect place for a catch up with friends and/or family. The interior is very cozy, welcoming and honestly quite aesthetically pleasing as well. The latte I got was huge and super delicious. The Nutella crepe was just alright! Nothing too special. The one huge downside is the seating and parking. Arrived on a weekend and it was pretty hectic. Because this place is located at the corner of an intersection, you can only rely on street parking or finding a spot in the nearby grocery store parking lot behind the store. Sunday was specifically busy because there was a farmers market happening next door so be mindful of that! The seating inside can be impossible if you have groups of people sitting and chatting around for too long. Be prepared to possibly take your order to go if that's the case. Another thing to be prepared for are the long lines.. it was almost out the door when I arrived. read more
