Since moving to Fremont, I've been to this particular coffee shop a handful of times and every time I come in, it's always the same happy go lucky barista that seem to love their job and joking and laugh as they work behind the bar as well as a number of customers that are sitting and working or catching up with old friends! I honestly love the decor and environment that this Cafe offers. Each wall has a different mural or painting on it. I tried to take pictures of everything, but a lot of customers were sitting at different tables. So I only have a couple of the beautiful mirrors pictured. Hee Their menu is the perfect brunch or lunch environment for breakfast and savory lovers!! Their seasonal ice brew coffee changes, which I love and the current one is this Latin American iced coffee that literally taste like chocolate! The gentleman told me it has a harmony flavor like toffee if you get it hot!! I also love their Jamaica tea if you need something besides coffee and I have yet to try their kombucha, but I definitely need to come here for their jazz night!! The French toast, avocado toast, as well as their mission peak sandwich and Monte Cristo we're all delicious and my aunt and niece love their food and my one year-old Nephew loved the avocado toast!! I've never seen so many slices of avocado on a $13 avocado toast in my life!! They definitely do not skim on the avocado!! I definitely felt like I got my moneys worth!! Review from my visit on 7/13/26 hops and beans is the same vibes but i think the quality has declined. We got the chicken quesadilla and it tasted like frozen pizza and bland and undercooked and was overall very underwhelming. EVEN MORE CONCERNING, three slices had chicken bone my friend accidentally swallowed it and could have choked. furthermore it is supposed be chicken breast so i have no clue how they got bone in there. terrible experience with the new workers and very disappointed about this recent trip. read more

My sister and I stopped by for some morning coffee and really liked the trendy vibe of the cafe. It's a nice looking spot. This review is only for the drinks we ordered. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed with what we got. I ordered an iced Black Forest mocha and my sister got an iced island latte. Both drinks were underwhelming. Mine mostly tasted like sweetened milk, and I couldn't taste any espresso or raspberry flavor at all. I'm honestly not sure if my order was made incorrectly or if something was just off. My sister's drink tasted like watered-down coconut milk with very little flavor. We were disappointed enough that we ended up tossing both drinks on our way home. Cute coffee shop to be productive at! I went during the afternoon and there were a lot of people there working/studying. The AC was running so it was a little refuge from the heat. They have a large outdoor patio that is partly covered, and plants provided shade to some of the tables that weren't covered. I got the honey lavender latte iced and it exceeded my expectations. Both the lavender and honey were prominent, it was a good balance of flavors. I had taken a few sips after receiving the drink and then didn't drink it again until after all the ice had melted, and it didn't even taste super watered down. A lot of reviews mention parking in Apna Mandi's parking lot behind the cafe. However, the spots in that lot closest to the coffee shop have bright red signs saying "No Coffee Shop Parking" and that violators will be towed. I ended up following one of the reviews and parked in the Safeway plaza across the street. It would be nice if Hops & Beans clarified whether or not customers actually allowed to park in the lot behind the cafe, or any alternatives. read more

I got a pulled pork sando on sourdough. The picture on the menu showed on a regular bun but this on sourdough was so good!!! wish it came with some fries for the price but the sandwich was super good. I have had nothing but a great experience here! When you walk in you are instantly greeted, huge inside with lots of seating and also there is a back patio on the cool days. I really wanted to like this place since I've been trying to find a place to study that's close to Hayward. Parking is very confusing. The parking lot in the back is technically for the grocery store only so keep that in mind just in case they start towing vehicles. This location has a patio that I wish I should've just sat in instead of sitting inside. I ordered the artichoke & cucumber toast with salmon, the lavander latter and the jamaica tea. I did enjoy the toast although the salmon was a bit to fishy for me and the fishyness lingered in my mouth the whole night. The Lavander latte was actually really good. Perfect sweetness and perfect amount of lavander and not over powering. I didn't expdect the Jamaica tea to be bubbly but it was a good drink. I did request for it to not be to sweet so they were able to adjust that. So I remove one star because of the cleanliness. I was seating by the window and just saw how dirty the base of the window is. I don't think they have wiped down their windows or the surrounding areas since there's just crumbs everywhere. I'm not sure when their last general cleaning or deep cleaning was but they are definitely due for one. Another reason why I removed another star is safety. Given that this location is in their downtown area, the amount of unhoused people that goes in and out of this cafe to sit and get water was high. I probably saw three just in the one hour in a half I was there. I just felt so uneasy, and could not focus on studying because I was more busy making sure that my surroundings were safe so I eventually left since I couldn't focus. This place definitely gets pretty busy so if you're going to come especially with a large group be prepared to might not have a table. They do have a lot of seating availability but it fills up fast. read more

This is one the top reasons I'm going to come back to this cafe again and again. They have many interesting coffee options. I have tried several loved them all. Furthermore, we asked if we could sit outside in the patio area after ordering and the reply was "yes" and we were given a number on a stand assumingely to place on the table for the food and drinks to be brought out. After a decent amount of waiting time, we went in to check on the order and apparently they couldn't find us so they left our order at the counter; not sure how long it has been sitting there. Great beer selection and while the menu is limited, everything we tried was so good. A basic cup served fast and found at every street corner has its place but that place with its microwaved egg bites IS NOT brunch. I needn't have worried. I have been coming to this place for over 35+ years, Oh so many owners. I loved it when Nancy was there, And she was there for 25 years. I love the ambiance, Music and all the yummy smells. It breaks my heart to write this review. Now , being disabled, this is not a handicap friendly establishment. Ada will be getting notified. They always have the gate locked at least most of the time, You have to go around these uneven steps(attached pictures) or walk around almost to the indian store and come down fremont blvd , which is scary Especially when cars are rounding that corner. I asked to speak to the owner.Her name is ramana. Joe behind the counter , says she's usually not available. I complained I'll admit wasn't happy. I ordered my drink and Joe was drinking something that looked yummy.And I said oh what's that? He said , why do you care you're not going to be coming back here? I always thought Joe was pretty cool, ummm. It seems like there's a younger crowd in there, which is great.But for us , old fremonters that are disabled , this is not the place for you. Strange enough I was waiting for my friend to come back and this woman Pulled up and asked me if the gate was locked.Because she has a cane. I said all locked up.She drove away to go somewhere else. Visited the cafe this past weekend, and the place offered ample seating in a bright and spacious indoor setting. It was quite busy, so I appreciated the fast-moving line at the front counter. But the wait for my takeout order to be ready was fairly long, about 25-30 minutes on a Sunday around noon time, for a single sandwich. Luckily, it was worth the wait. The monte cristo was delish! Tasty ham, scrambled eggs, and cheese, sandwiched between two thick slices of buttery french toast... yum! The mustard was unnecessary IMO, and I can't imagine how that goes with the syrup (which comes on the side). But I would totally get this again, probably minus the mustard. FYI, parking was a pain, especially with a farmers market happening nearby... beware if you plan to come by on a Sunday. read more

This place is a gem! The drinks are delicious and I always order the nutella crepe. I haven't tried any of their savory offerings but I've been told those are pretty good too. I frequent cafés to read, get work done, or catch up with friends, and Hops & Beans is perfect for all of the above. It's generally pretty quiet regardless of which day of the week it is, or the types of patrons that come through. Service at Hops & Beans is phenomenal and I wanna touch on that more than I usually do in my other reviews. I came in once with a friend who was having an off day and acting like a bit of a Karen to the employees. I felt soo embarrassed about it honestly but baristas handled the situation with kindness and professionalism. I've had plenty of jobs in food service; personally if someone came at me sideways like that I would've gotten fired on the spot for clapping back. Just being honest! But they won't do that here, the employees are SO friendly. Kind of a pain to find seating sometimes but that's the case at most cafés.
