I came to this bar on 9/22/17 on a Friday night near midnight. I was waiting forever at the bar to get a drink when the bartender finally got to me. she said "NEXT" and we made EYE CONTACT and I was half way done giving her the order of my drinks (I had several for my group) when she flat out turned away and went to the other side of the bar and assisted another individual. I was so furious! I left. The bartenders downstairs are much better and it was a funky 90's vibe. read more

It was kinda dead, loved the rooftop but very quiet for a Thursday night. The drinks were strong and well priced.

We were in the neighborhood having dinner. The thumping music drew us to the Nines afterwards. It's very nicely decorated inside, I absolutely loved the oversized grey leather booths. The real gem though is the rooftop patio. There's a separate dj booth, another bar, a large dance area, plenty patio seating, and a jumbo video screen. We came here on Saturday for the first time since it changed into The Nines. The overall ambiance is ok. There is house/techno played on the lower level and hip hop on the upper level. We stayed on the lower level for most of the night. There were many people dancing with glow items and hula hoops which was cool. The downstairs DJ played some of the best music that I have heard in many years!!!! My only grievance was how disgusting the downstairs bathroom was and I have been to many clubs and none have been as gross as that one!!! There was no paper towels and toilet paper at first until the staff brought some and both toilets had issues throughout the night every time we went. Not cool! Other than that, we had a good time, drinks were good and it was a great night! read more

Went for the promotional $6.99 lunch buffet and it was really disappointing. We reached there around 2:10 and most of the food trays were expected. Ok, so it's my mistake of going late when the lunch will close around 3:00pm. But many people are still coming and there is no food, hygiene is zero.. whatever was left in the tray was already cold.. chicken biryani had no chicken pieces, egg masala had no egg, the only thing I are was rasgulla and that was the only dessert. I don't get out much when I'm at home because of work and family. But when I travel for work I try to experience the local atmosphere. Found this place near the hotel and checked out some yelp reviews and decided to check it out. The upstairs is definitely much more my then I expected. Comfortable and inviting. Music not too loud and crowd not too rowdy. Very nice. Thought I might just have a drink or two and call it a night, but after chit chat with very sweet woman I decided to stay longer. This was probably one of the worst clubs downtown, overpriced drinks I paid 44$ for 3 shots (Don't ask me why I paid it because I don't even know) "drink specials" was just 20% Malibu 60% juice 20% ice... finally i just stopped spending my money here. They pick and choose who has to pay to come in. Overall disappointed in this club, won't be back. Great DJ though! read more

Love the atmosphere! The patio has a great view of downtown, and a nice chill vibe. Inside they have these cool booths which are great to get close with friends and chat. Recently tried the food and it was delicious. The pork belly kimchi sliders are perfectly sweet and savory. Definitely going back to try the cocktail list too. read more

Absolutely love this place. Food, drinks, and jaw dropping entertainment! Saw a burlesque show with some friends and enjoyed complimentary appetizers that the kitchen was debuting. The rooftop setup is incredible -- breath taking view of the skyline, as well as professional aerial rigging! Love this place! read more

I had my birthday party at Red Light in February and it was perfect. The venue let us book several DJs from the Guild (who now have a Thursday night residency at Red Light!) and they let me decorate the joint in keeping with my theme. The staff helped me set up before the club opened and handled cleanup for me after the party. My friends all came in costumes and filled the dancefloor & booths, but the open rooftop was a perfect spot for more intimate conversation (and smokers). I go to Red Light once or twice a month and I've honestly NEVER had anything less than an outstanding time. I saw the negative review another yelper posted and felt an obligation to this venue and it's staff to share my own very positive experiences with Red Light. If you are looking for a genuinely friendly joint in Deep Ellum where you can dance, socialize, drink $3 wells before 11, and probably get your picture taken by either NakedLens or the Dallas Observer (happens to me almost every time I'm there), I encourage you to visit Red Light. read more

I've been to Red Light about 4 times now, including New Year's Eve, and love it! Sound system is bumping. Roof top patio is one of the best in Deep Ellum. Intimate setting, but not over crowded. DJs are always funky - great music and variety. The drinks are decent - nothing over the top. Excellent spot for a night of dancing and a good view of the skyline! read more

The bartenders seemed to be avoiding me bc i was standing there for 10 mins before anyone asked for my drink and they were serving others who had came after before me. The bartenders are just unprofessional and unskilled. They use little plastic cups and I ordered a Manhattan (which was $9) and they filled it to HALF the cup! For $9?! Also I'm pretty sure my vodka cranberries were watered down. One of the bartenders started purposely overfilling my cup all over the counter when I asked for water. Wtf? I went upstairs and the bartender up there was rude too. I came pretty late so when it was closing the staff pretty much yelled at us to leave. The bouncer was going off on a guy and I had to walk between them to get out so I felt sort of uncomfortable. Idk how this place has such good reviews it was one of the worst bars I've experienced. read more

I had not been to any bar/club at this address until it became the Red Light Lounge. The owners' impressive reputation is a big reason I continue to visit numerous times a month. It's a laid back attitude with an upscale look. The roof deck with its view of downtown Dallas is terrific as well. All of the staff has been nothing but professional and courteous on each visit. They even have Lakewood Lager for a little variety for the beer snobs! read more

This is a great little club and exactly what Deep Ellum needed. It's a small space perfectly for shouting at each other over the music, and if you want a little less music you can always go upstairs to the rooftop deck. The bartenders are outstanding and mix a little on the strong side. The nights start out slow and then through the course of the night it fills up nicely. They make it a point to have local beers here which is a nice change of pace. I'd highly recommend it. read more

When I visit Dallas, the Nines is THE BEST venue to relax and spend time with friends. Parking is sufficient around it. The staff know how to meet and exceed the needs of their patrons, especially at full capacity! The patio rooftop is beautiful with enough seating. The bathrooms are well-kept. Came to Red Light Lounge because it was at the beginning of the Arts/Music Festival street and we didn't want to have to buy tickets to purchase drinks at the festival. What I liked about this place was the rooftop - I love rooftops, and I'm sure Dallas is full of them with their great weather. While we were up there we saw two different groups with a dog, and there was a guy selling pulled pork sandwiches on the rooftop. We left ONLY because they ran out of beer, and we couldn't dive into anything else at that point. I would recommend this place on the awesome rooftop and dog acceptance alone! read more

Went to Red Light for the official Grand Opening event with Green Velvet. Noticed how nice it was when we walked in. Liked the rooftop even more though! Bartenders were friendly and attentive. Wait times not very long for a busy night. Definitely look forward to going back! read more

Love the music at this place. They have a pretty wide diversity of programming but it is always very quality stuff. Thursdays are a mainstay for me and there are tons of good house, techno, and trance parties on the weekends. The food is the bomb, their chef did a phenomenal job on her upscale bar-bites interpretation. Home away from home. read more

I went to this bar on Saturday Night, 12/15. I have never in my life experienced such disrespect and disgusting customer service. My group contained about 7+ people, and we headed toward the bar on the rooftop. After waiting for more than 15 minutes just to order drinks, we finally made it to a bartender and two of us placed the group's order. I understand we had a hefty order at such an inopportune time, but an order is an order and the barkeep was short a drink. When we mentioned it to him, he sharply tells us that's a personal problem and not anything he can do because he poured the correct amount. I'm not one to sweat small things, but the tab was upwards of $120 and they were just expecting us to be okay with losing out on a drink. NO! At this point, the lady (and I use this term loosely due to her behavior) working alongside the male bartender walks over and begins to give us a snarky attitude and mockingly pours our last drink, followed with, "HOW ABOUT SHOWING SOME PROPRIETY" I was taken aback by the statement, but did not act upon it. I had been nothing short of respectful the entire team and tried my best to ignore it. We the split the tab on two of our cards, and after the first payment, I then give my card for the last transaction. The guy comes back and says, "We need another form of payment, your card declined." Everyone knows the agonies of hearing this statement, especially when the funds are plentiful in the account. "I tell him that I JUST paid the cover to get in here, there must be something wrong with your system." My friend then gives his card, and we get the same declined result. NOW, there has to be some sort of coincidence. Instead of these PROPRIETORS telling us where an ATM was or getting security to handle our tab. These rude, disgusting, immature bartenders decide to increase tensions by arguing, cursing at us and completely abandoning every single Customer Service principle. The woman bartender SNATCHED the plastic cup full of liquor completely out of my friend's hands, breaking the cup and flinging alcohol everywhere, and the next act is what completely put me over the edge. The remaining liquor that just so happened to be on her hands after snatching and breaking the cup, she chooses to FLICK the liquor into my friend's face. How can someone ask for respect and empathy towards those running the business, when they have no respect or integrity for themselves or the business they're assisting. The manager and security showed no sign of sympathy, or empathy and just proceeded in asking us to leave. They had no care to even address our concern or treatment. Easy to say, I will never be returning, and won't even think twice to suggest this place to friends/family nor even a stranger on the street. read more

This is a cozy little place with a killer rooftop view, always has great music, most nights there is no cover, drink specials, and has indoor (downstairs) and outdoor (upstairs) areas to please everyone. The staff and owners are so friendly and accomodating. I have never had a bad experience at this bar and would highly recommend it! read more

I frequently go to Red Light to listen to 80's on the rooftop. I decided to take a friend out and it was their first time there. It was a Saturday night and not very busy at all. I make my way up the patio and head for the bar. There was no one at the bar so we went over to order a drink. There was a blonde haired bartender that took my order and I told her I wanted a Ruby Red and tonic, she repeated back a Ruby Red and Tonic, okay...then takes my friend's credit card. She makes my drink and hands it to me when I notice it's very lightly colored and I try it and it's gin and tonic. So I go excuse me but I think this is gin, I ordered Ruby Red and tonic, and she goes yeah that's what you said, Tanqueray and tonic. I said no, I asked for Ruby Red and she goes, well I repeated it to you! So instead of arguing with her I just looked at her like, well...make it again, so she did and rudely places it in front of me with no lime of course. Then my friend asks for a water and she points to the big orange dispenser, "there is water over there." So he reaches for a cup off the bar and she snaps at him and says "those are for drinks, there are cups over there!" He turned to me and goes "wow, she was really freaking rude and she's not even busy, what is her problem? I also heard you order your drink and you clearly said Ruby Red, are they always this rude here?" I felt really bad but we went downstairs and the bartender down there actually gave him some ice and filled up his cup with water. If I return to Red Light I will not be ordering my drinks upstairs ever again and I'll definitely steer clear of that bartender. read more

This club is very nice and swanky and they always have great talent coming through on most weekends, HOWEVER, I visited on a Friday night which I thought would be like any club busy and hopping, but even getting there at 11pm-ish there were less than 50 people in the club and this must have been gothic night which is cool because I love EBM and old school industrial, BUT there were a lot of drag queens on the floor and wasn't sure if this was a gay club night or what. I stayed for a while but just wasn't feeling it. Music was good though. I had heard that the club is owned by Lizard Lounge and they might be testing to see if they could appeal to a more gay crowd. Love this place! I come for the dancing and the kick ass DJs. The roof area is hands down my favorite in Dallas. Some nights it does take a while for the floor to fill up, but that's the fickle beast of the insane social lives of the people who frequent this place. We have found a great place with accommodating owners, kick %$$ music, and hopefully we can keep it filled up enough to stay in business but free of the d-baggery that is Beauty Bar. I love the small intimate spot they call Red Light. I was just here to catch DJ Craze last Friday - 1/22, and it was lit. The crowd, USUALLY, is a bit older than at the LL.. and that's always a plus for me.. Since I do have just about 10 years on most patrons Lol. DJs do play/spin "EDM" (as today's generation call it) music, so don't bother entering if this isn't your cup of tea. The atmosphere is definitely always causal and everyone is strictly there for the music and a good time. The sound system is boomin, the drinks are fairly priced and the bar tenders are always pleasant. Not to mention, the girl's bathroom is fairly clean and free from stench! I really appreciate them coming in throughout the night and keeping things fresh. AND of course, that rooftop deck on a nice summer/spring/fall evening is amazing.
