As we walked in the Norfolk Pub on a Saturday night, we noticed there wasn't enough room to sit at the bar. The blonde bartender walked up to us and asked if she could help us. I nicely told her, "we are interested in sitting at the bar but there isn't enough room". She quickly and snarkily replied, "oh, there won't be space at the bar for a while"..... So I nicely asked, "is there was a table we could sit at to get some drinks"?....she again snarkily replied, "Oh, I've heard that before"....and then went on to snarkily say, "let me stop what I'm doing and help you". Then she started to clear a table right next to us and someone in our party said "Oh, don't worry about clearing all of that....the waitress turned to her and gave her a dirty look and a roll of the eyes. So... we sat at the table. Once this bartender finally came back, we gave our drink orders. About 10 minutes later, she delivered the drinks almost knocking into me, didn't say a word, and so I handed out the drinks to my other two family members. We finished our drinks and would have ordered another round, but we felt so unwelcomed that we decided to pay our bill and head next door for the concert. Well, we waited and waited for our big and round blonde waitress....and waited and waited...so we finally asked another waitress walking by if she could please get us our check. This waitress, who was so sweet and smiled to us and said sure, but when she returned she asked us if this was our check and we said no that we had 3 drinks. She apologized, and went back to find our check. So a couple of minutes later...here comes our big and round blonde waitress from across the room shouting two times at us, "IS THIS WHAT YOUR LOOKING FOR...IS THIS WHAT YOUR LOOKING FOR.....we were happy to finally get the check so we could pay and get the hell out of the Norfolk Pub!!! Well, guess who disappeared again...you guessed it, the bartender was nowhere to be seen for another 10 minutes....so finally we went to the bar and handed our payment and check to this nice waitress that tried to help us and she was able to cash us out....needless to say, we couldn't wait to leave!!!!!!! I will never, ever go to the Norfolk Pub ever again!!! The bar manager obviously needs more training on how to treat customers!!!!!!! read more

The town of Norfolk, CT is a wonderful antique, with plenty to see and do. There is some shopping and other decent restaurants. Yale has an Art Colony here (Summer only). There is Campbell Falls State Park about 6 miles outside of the Village. Half of this park is in Massachusetts, including the actual waterfall. There are limestone mines in the area, worth seeing if you've never seen one. Beautiful country roads are pretty much the standard in this area. read more

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would do it without question. Let me give a few examples of why I am infuriated with this disgusting establishment... When we walked inside, we were already unimpressed by the dingy and ugly interior, but things got worse when we saw about ten cockroaches, crawling on the wall beside our table. One flew into my daughter's hair and another landed in my son's meal and into the coat that he was wearing. When we complained: in a respectful and mindful manner, we were shut down and shouted at, by the manager who had the smell of liquor on her breath. She motioned my son out of his chair in a rude way and said that the insect infestation was not her problem though they were noticeable for more customers than just I. Apparently the apartment above the restaurant is infested with roaches and they are managing to find their way into the facility. I don't doubt that they are also making homes for themselves in the kitchen were the food is prepared: which is unsanitary and unnerving. Where is Gordon Ramsay when you need him? Overall, not family-friendly or comfortable.... I hope you have the ingenuity to not waste your time here. read more

We were in a rush, as I had booked a horse drawn carriage ride at 7. The place was packed and we were lucky to get seats in the pub area. At first the service was not great. We stood next to a dirty table and after it we sat we got bread and butter but had no knife. I ordered a beer that was never delivered but the waitress was nice enough to offer to buy me one. She also gave us good suggestions on food to get us out on time (we had less than an hour). I had Chicken Quesadilla, which the menu described as spicy chicken but it was very mild. My wife tried a piece and thought it was the best Quesadilla she's ever had. We started off with french onion soup. It was good but very different to what we are used to in Western New York/Buffalo. My wife ordered a Chicken Caesar salad and for the price of $14 dollars wish she would have gotten the cobb salad instead. A bit pricey but a nice atmosphere and good food. We would dine here again, for sure. They got us out on time too! read more

I was actually YELLED at by staff multiple times during my meal. Once for going through the wrong door and once for asking for a wine list. The staff was rude and offputting. I don't think I've ever felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant. Paid cash and the waiter did not ever bring change back, just assumed he was receiving a $15 tip. I frequent the Wood Creek Bar & Grill often for so many reasons: the food, the drinks, the service and the atmosphere. There is not one menu item that I have ordered that I haven't liked! I love the burrata as an appetizer and the nachos are amazing. My favorite go to dish is the Prince Edward Mussels with Linguine..its a huge portion!! The best part is the POMEGRANATE MARTINIS! Worst. Service. Ever. My sisters and I go out to eat often in a wide range of places, from high-end restaurants to biker bars. We are usually very generous with tipping--usually 20% for good service and food, and more for an excellent experience. This was a horrible experience. We were out for a drive through western CT to explore and shop and have fun. We chose to stop here for lunch. There were two women working the outside tables--one waitress, and the other helping the waitress. The woman helping--I'll call her the blonde woman so my story makes sense, because neither of them ever told us their names. The blonde woman remarked on how happy we seemed, and we were. We were having a great day, the sun was shining, the weather was gorgeous, and we were ready for a good lunch, we were really enjoying the day. When our waitress came to the table, she immediately told us that she was feeling "very scatty today!" She later repeated that to several other tables. We gave her our beverage orders and she was back with those fairly quickly, and we placed our lunch order. I ordered the French dip, one sister ordered a rueben, the other ordered a soup and a cobb salad, and requested her soup be served before the salad, and also asked for sugar for her iced tea. The waitress then went to talk with another table rather than putting our food orders in right away. We waited and waited. She never came back with sugar. Forty-five minutes went by. No sugar, and no soup. Another table who ordered after we did got their meal. We're still waiting. Finally the waitress came back, gave two of us our sandwiches, and told the third sister that her salad would be out in a few minutes, and dashed off. What? You don't serve food to some of the table and not everyone. But still no sugar and no soup. So there the three of us sat, waiting for the third sister to be served. In the meantime, my French dip is getting cold. We two started to eat, and yes, the food was good and the portions were generous. After another ten minutes the waitress finally brought my sister's salad (no soup, no sugar), but with the wrong salad dressing, and none of the avocado that is listed in the menu description. My sister flagged down the waitress yet again, asked for the correct salad dressing, and asked yet again for sugar for her tea. We waited some more. Nothing. By now really rather irritated that we had been there over an hour already and she still hadn't gotten what she asked for, my sister got up, went inside, and asked the blonde woman for the correct salad dressing, and for sugar. I don't know what she said. I know she was irritated as hell by then but she wouldn't have been foul. And frankly, I've worked in customer service over 40 years, and this isn't how you treat customers. We wait another five minutes and the blonde comes out to the table to ask if the waitress has been back yet, and my irritated sister said something to the effect of, "We've been sitting here two hours waiting for food!" An exaggeration, yes. But the whole thing had been completely ridiculous and it was certainly more than an hour for a salad, for God's sake. The blonde starts arguing with her that it hasn't been two hours. Like, seriously? Is arguing with a guest a good idea at this point? Finally the waitress comes out with the salad dressing, and miracle of miracles, some sugar. She also promises to make sure the soup isn't still on the ticket, and dashes off again. Now the blonde comes out, puts down another salad dressing and a sugar, and says in a very snippy tone, "There! Now you've got two of each!" A few minutes go by, and my sister, who finally can drink her tea and has some food in her stomach, apologized to the blonde. Who looked at her, said nothing, and just walked away. A bit later the waitress came back and asked if we wanted containers for our leftovers, which we did. She came back with containers, dropped them off and dashed away again. No bill. We waited and waited some more, and when the blonde cruised by, asked for our bill. Seriously, she charged my sister for the second salad dressing, which SHE had brought out because of whatever horrible communication that was happening or not happening in their kitchen. Food was good. Seriously. Not. Worth. The. Aggravation. Avoid the place. read more

I had dinner at Wood Creek this evening. The place is fabulous. The crab and corn bisque was delicious, as was the grilled swordfish. But what made the event even more exceptional was the courtesy and flexibility of the staff. I arrived with two hours remaining before I needed to leave for a post-dinner concert. Barrett the maitre d seated me on the pleasant outdoor terrace and we arranged to serve my dinner in segments so that I could space the meal over this two hours. In addition, the staff who actually served the meal were efficient and pleasant. An experience I will repeat soon! read more

I've been here three times, all good. April 2017 two visits for dinner. First time, from regular menu had pub steak. Thin sliced beef, well cooked medium rare. Served with fries and a delicious house salad. Don't miss the blue cheese dressing. Place was super busy, but service was great. I ate in bar. Second visit, had chili glazed salmon from specials. Excellent. Came with salad, rice, and asparagus. Hearty bread basket, whole wheat ?, included with everything. Greasy, greasy, greasy. I ordered a simple tuna melt that came with relish in it... Gross. The other person in my party was also unhappy with his meal. Beer selection is mediocre. Only 4-5 beers on tap. All bottles are domestic. Service was slow. read more

We love this spot before a show at Infinity Hall. The food is fresh and excellent, the corkage fee is quite reasonable if you'd like to bring your own bottle. The crab cakes are a standard order for me. They are good about reminding you to allow enough time before a show so you won't be rushed, but plan on it being very busy before the doors open at Infinity. The food is Great! This has been my favorite local place since they opened more than 10 yrs ago. Their French onion soup is to die for! Love their authentic bolognese. Love their wild mushroom ravioli. Burgers are delicious and always have a great selection of local beers on tap along with guiness. They have a great Cobb salad and their house made apple dressing is a must have. You definitely can't go wrong dining here. Got there at 6:30 on a Friday with a reservation and were seated immediately. First thing I noticed was the noise coming from the bar. Then other diners began arriving and the noise level ratcheted up. I could hear the servers reciting the specials to tables across the room. So that was the downside--no sound-absorbing surfaces at all in the restaurant. But the food was good and service reasonably fast. I had the seared sea scallop special--very tasty. Really wanted to like this place but, beginning with first impressions, the waiter who greeted us acted completely put out, he was very rude. Actually "shushed" one of our party as she was trying to clarify her order. Brought out a glass of lower shelf wine than what was ordered by another in our party, as if she wouldn't know the difference. And when some in our party were looking at their phones toward the end of the meal, abruptly cleared their plates without asking because "since you're on your phone you must be finished". Food was lackluster. Grilled chicken sandwich was plain and boring. Salads were way overpriced. We left feeling cheated out of what we had hoped would be a decent experience and it put a huge damper on our group outing. Good service is not rocket science, it's common sense. Love, love, love this restaurant. And I'm a picky restaurant goer. I like food prepared from scratch and this restaurant doesn't disappoint. I've dined in both the bar and the dining room. They have a great selection of beer and wonderful martinis and wines. Not a one time diner to this restaurant and some of my favorite meals have been from the "specials" board. I don't think I've ever had the same entree twice the choices are always that good. In these times of restaurant chains, it's hard to find places like this independently owned and operated. read more
