I am grieving at the closure of the North Face.. Having worked there during the time of its beginnings and the height of its popularity, I really hate to see it go. My salary, though, minimal, allowed me to live in the area while I was going to graduate school at Uc Berkeley. . The outlet was on sixth Street and was, at first, an outlet only, whereas the main stores were across the Bay Area. The initial retail on telegraph Avenue was where I worked. It was the best possible experience for me at the time. I spent nearly every weekend camping in the Sierras or cross country skiing as the company loaned equipment to employees in order for them to be able to better describe the items to customers. So long ago, it was still safe for a woman to go on such adventures solo. That company was the basis for so many other outdoor companies similar to this. Patagonia, Marmot Mountain Works, etc. Hap Klopp was president during those early days and very true to his love of of the outdoors. I The closures were in response to robbery so, I have to hand it to the people repelling into the store in order to make a burglary. At least they were true to the underpinnings of the North Face being connecting with the outdoors. Obvious irony. read more

Oof. This one got me in my feels. This outlet is now permanently closed as of July 2026. I have been coming here for decades after stumbling upon it back in college and that backpack that I bought my first time here got me through college and is still being used as of this day (twenty some odd years later). Throughout the years, I have been able to take my kids here and buy them clothes and even their back to school backpack. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Sucks. read more

The best North Face Outlet to go to. Of course, outlets are a hit or miss, so stop being a hater if you went on a miss day. This is a stand alone warehouse type of outlet. It is huge with two different sides. Due to its size, there are more options of everything. I generally at least find one item when I make a trip out here. I've found a long down jacket before for the price of $60 when MSRP'd at $400. Denali and Nuptse jackets are rare to find. You will have to take your time and look at everything. Expect to be in there for 30 min to an hour if you like to sort through everything. Employees have always been nice and helpful. I always stop by when heading out to the bay or passing by. I never make a trip just to go to this store, or else you put yourself up for disappointment. It's an outlet! Like I said- hit or miss. read more

The The North Face Outlet Berkeley is not your run-of-the-mill outlet--it's the reason I can actually afford North Face gear, and it's what turned me into a lifelong fan. This place does require patience. You'll need to walk in circles, dig through racks, and really search. But if you're willing to put in the time, it pays off. Over the years, I've scored $10 shorts, hats and gloves, $20 sweatpants and shirts, and $40 sweatshirts and jackets. The prices have gone up a bit since the early days, but compared to retail and their standard outlet stores, but the deals are still amazing. This place is the OG. If you allow time for parking and give yourself a solid hour to browse, you're almost guaranteed to walk out with a treasure or two. I have been coming here for years. Most of my jackets are from this store. I have jackets for over 10+ years from here that I still wear til this day Usually sales are around 50% and occasionally everything would be 60%. It is an outlet sale so you never know what you're gonna get. Sometimes they will some different sizes in the back but usually it's whatever out on the floor. I usually ask the staff if they can look it up if I can't find my size on the floor. The staff is usually friendly and helpful. Look out for the sample sales. It's usually a bigger discount from regular price and there's usually a big line for this multi-day sale. During this sale the sizes are usually limited. I've been shopping here for years, but haven't been back in a while. They used to have a sheet of paper with special deals each week, but it seems like they now have storewide offers -- 60% off listed prices. The items are past-season colors, usually, but a good selection. The "good" colors do sell out quickly. I've been inside when the store is insane and when it's calm. I've generally found all the employees to be helpful and the merchandise well laid out. I've gotten some great deals in the past. Now, it is "ok". Coming to North face for several years now. It's so incredibly convenient and also has great options for winter coats. From hoodies all the way to puff jackets and in between. During the holidays the stores can definitely get an overwhelming, but if you plan an outing during a weekday - that's probably your safest bet! The staff at times will go above and beyond to assist... but during Xmas time they'll likely provide a bag and keep it moving cause they are exhausted. So be nice! They are trying to help everyone while they've likely had more than an 8 hour day during a holiday. The prices are unbeatable. read more

Return policy is extremely garbage. If past the return date they can only give me 60% of what I paid as store credit. Even with receipt. Not usually a problem except when it's $100. I returned an item after the date printed on the receipt and received 60% of that value in store credit. I never knew north face even had an outlet! Lol my boyfriend and I came across this store, and to our surprise the parking lot was packed! As we walked in, we were greeted by an armed guard, and then I realized this is a neighborhood that must get robbed a lot! Everybody in the store was rather nice and had giant bags of clothes! There's a great deal where if you buy more than three items you get 30% off, four items you get 40% off and so forth!!! We were looking for some sweaters or lightweight jackets, but didn't really find anything in our sizes because they were all extra small or extra large. I need a small and my boyfriend needs a medium. They did have a number of pants, leggings, snow, pants, and longer jackets but I was looking for a short fitted one. We found a couple sweaters we liked, but decided not to buy them since we already have sweatshirts and we're more looking for those lightweight feather jackets for windy days. I will definitely come back and check out their deals , in this little area, I'm not even too sure if we are in Oakland, Emeryville, or Albany! I've been here a view times and I always find something. My most recent purchase was a jacket for the rain which they didn't have anything on display because it's summer time. One of the employees asked if I needed assistance. I think his name as Joseph. He was extremely helpful. I told him I wanted a north face jacket like the one I was wearing but a water resistant one. He went to the back and brought the exact one I was looking for. I showed him my current jacket is already damaged and he told me that I had warranty. I had no idea. By filling out paper work north face will repair it. If they can't repair my jacket they will send it back as is or they will send me a gift card. Excellent service. I'm not sure if prices are that great since the original price is so high already but a lot of the clothing is 50% off. The hoodies seem to be average at $40. Not great customer service with bigger size and selection but staff rarely picks up phone and far less helpful than Livermore location

So I was in there at 2:30 pm today, which is Monday, June 9th 2025. It was a little weird cause I noticed the security came out as soon as I pulled up and waited until I left to go back in . That was suspicious. Then when I'm going to pay for my stuff, the cashier Angela wanted everyone to know over the PA, I was at the register and she needed a bill check for $20. Would she have called a bill check on a Caucasian or someone of her ethnicity who came with $20? No. Cause I purposely waited for the Caucasian man and his wife to come back out. Mind you I felt I was being racial profiled, so I waited for them to come back out to ask a question. Long story short, the Caucasian man uses a $100 Bill and she didn't call for a bill check. I have his number as well, just in case I feel like taking these matters further. That brings me to this review. I was literally just there Saturday and of course I purchased something. I literally have a $500 purse, with $400 airmaxs, literally my whole outfit is what you make in 2 weeks, if that, wtf make your simple mind think that someone like me needs to steal a $120 coat with some counterfeit? Its called coming in to pick a jacket to match my sneakers for the day, you wouldn't know anything about that tho. I can tell.Check the statistics, it's ppl who look like you and your security that are prone to stealing and using counterfeit , while y'all over there with the whole audacity to racial profile me. Check that. So cause I don't want to go to jail, I won't be returning to this store, cause yea I'm not feeling that racist ish, and i don't wanna go to jail for slapping a racial profiling brokey. On top of that, she didn't have a line, I was the only one, yet Angela still managed to not check to see if the jacket size matched the hanger, but she made sure to get them 20s checked tho. I only had 2 items, I had to drive back thru traffic to get the correct one. And her excuse was the customers put wrong jackets on wrong hangars, well since you know that Angela, wouldn't that make you want to double check even more to see customers are getting the correct items? It's not like you were busy. A customer sees the jacket they want, they're going to assume it's the correct size as the hanger, but since you yourself said customers put clothes back on the wrong size hangers, how do you yourself as the worker, not check the items? I only had 2 items bro, you're so busy flirting with your coworker, and racial profiling, you're not doing what you're getting paid to do, and that's provide quality customer service, but you definitely know how to call for a 20 bill check over the PA. ***Pre-COVID review*** I'm not much of a shopper, and there are only a few stores that I don't mind browsing in....all of 'em are either sports-related or outdoor gears. However, when wifey shops here, it's one of the few places that I'll actually go with her instead of waiting in the car. It's a win-win since she'll have someone to hold her stuff while I get to check out some cool outdoor gears. I'm a cheap bastard and I'll always go straight to the sales rack. Since we love hiking outdoors, we find their gears to be top-notch, dependable, good-quality products. North Face is a good brand, and their products speaks for themselves. It's also a good investment as their jackets can last years. Wifey has found items here over the years that she purchased for Christmas gifts and presents that she would send to her family in the Philippines. Before you ask why would they need jackets or sweaters in a tropical country, her family is from Baguio, which is up in the Mountain Provinces. This location is also pretty spacious with plenty of room to roam. They are organized and separate their products based on gender and types of gears. Their parking lot is tiny though, but you can usually find plenty of street parking. It's also not too far from the freeway (I-80) off of Gilman St. exit. Limited parking area out in front and on the street. Inside has ample space for walking freely. Helpful staff, clean store, and neatly displayed clothing racks. Sales all clearly marked. The store is located in an area with some sketchy characters walking about The other my haul required two large garbage bags to carry my items. The store actually has a security guard named James who offered to walk me to my vehicle because he saw how many things I was struggling with. They have a wide assortment of items from backpacks to jackets, to kids and adult apparel. They offer a great price point and I checking out their deals. Not only did they have them in their size... but 75% less expensive than that Place who shares the first name of a Kinky haired deep throated souls singer who's name is _______Gray. So not able to roust either son on the phone to ask about color options we get two each of different colors. And 4 of these fleece qtr zip pullovers was less than 2 at the place named for pop singer ______Kate. Yep we checked Sku #s...same damn thing! I also noticed a clothing and shoe donation kiosk near the front. It pays to recycle here and stuff goes to "Close the Loop "a charitable organization. The items dropped in collection bins are sent to non-profit partner, Soles4Souls. Their mission is to create sustainable jobs and provide relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing. The items put into our bins are used for disaster relief or micro-enterprise programs that aim to provide small entrepreneurs with business opportunities. I love this North Face outlet. It's offers a much more comfortable shopping experience during the pandemic compared to it's sister stores in Livermore and other locations. Here's why: - They are located in a remote area with a good number of parking spots. - Line control was very well maintained. We waited about 30 minutes before being able to get in but this isn't anything unusual. - The store is much larger than other outlets with two separate sections for men/womyn clothing. Since it's so large, there is ample spacing inside that allows you to comfortably move around and try on some of the clothes. The selection here is fantastic as well. You've got a variety of items like jackets, parkas, coats, athletic gear, etc. Many articles of clothing were marked down up to 60% when we visited over the Christmas holiday (yes, they are open!). Unlike other branded outlet shops, the clothes here also don't seem to be "irregular," at least they weren't advertised as such. Huge fan of this store. Reason for one star is I just sat in traffic for an hour to grab a jacket I had on hold. Store closes at 6pm I arrived at 545pm. The lady at the door tells me she is sorry they are closed. I explained to her I put a jacket on hold I just need to run in and pay for it and that wouldn't take more then 15 minutes. This is an outlet and it is incredible!! So many good deals on quality products. Perfect place to go shopping for new gear when looking for a deal. The store is also very clean and well organized. As far as COVID policies go, they ensure to make everyone feel safe. They are strict with capacity. They enforce masks, have hand sanitizer at the entrance and have plexi glass barriers at the register. Fitting rooms are closed but they do let you try on clothes over your own clothes on the sales floor. The staff is also really nice and helpful. I think they get commission because they ask if anyone helped you at the register but still very nice!! I got a super cute snow bib for $43!!!! This outlet is fantastic!! They had a pretty wide variety of options and everything was fairly organized (men's/kids downstairs area and women's upstairs). They are limiting people (around 30/40) so there may be a line. to enter but it shouldn't be too long. I went 15 minutes before opening on a Saturday and was the 4th in line. By entry time, there was a line around 20 but everyone was able to get in! The sales were good: around 40% off most things and clearance racks (of sample goods). I got a denali jacket for 50% off! (it was 40 off and i signed up to get an additional 10% off). The basic fleeces were around $50. Will definitely come again! read more
