Haven't been here in a couple of years and was craving some BBQ. Came with the fam and left a bit disappointed. Not sure why the food has gone downhill over the years but it doesn't have the taste I'm used to. I have several friends that used rave about the food at Dave's but that has died down as well. The service is typically good and the atmosphere is fine. I understand there are off nights at times but a restaurant can't afford an off night anymore in this economy. I hope they improve their kitchen. Otherwise, there's much tastier food out there. read more

Wow, this place used to be a favorite, not so much today. Sausage was overcooked, chopped pork was dry and we were given 3 sauce packages for 2, 2 meat meals. We even asked about sauce before we left. Portionscwere smaller than we remembered and the food was tepid when we picked it up. Our order was supposed to be ready at 6, we waited 10 minutes, that's not a big deal but still...almost everything was disappointing. Rude and nonsensical treatment. A day after I ordered by phone for pick up, I wanted to repeat the process. I called and was told they don't do pick up orders so close to closing - even though the lady remembered me from the day before. Yet they'd let me inside to order? Wouldn't it be more hassle if I ate inside close to closing? Also it was at least 30 minutes before closing. Chase off customers and see how that works out. Maybe the staff was being lazy. read more

I love the cedar plank salmon and almost exclusively order that along with the pineapple. It's always cooked right, not dry, and I love the extra flavor the cedar gives. We have several favorite servers, but today was a new gal and she's a keeper! read more

Went in at 6:40 Wednesday night and asked to make a carry out order. The bartender replied that they close in 10 minutes. That prompted me to say, You are open for 10 more minutes? She said no, we close in 10 minutes. I repeated again and she said that she had to ask her manager, he happened to be behind me and caught the entire conversation. He said it was ok and went towards the kitchen. I didn't feel like eating spit brisket or floor pork so I turned around and left but not before calling the bartender lazy. This entitled young woman had a strong reaction. Famous Dave's will survive without my business but I will feel better about this experience by never returning to this company. Sad. read more

We've eaten her quite a bit and usually have a nice meal. The ribs are great and they do a nice planked salmon. Kids menu has a lot of options for picky eaters. We've had various servers and they are generally nice. One in particular, Beth, I think, is great. very attentive and friendly. The only real service issue we've had was this last week when we went in. The guy seating folks was just...rude. We walk in and he is ignoring us, ok fine. We say, "Hi, we've got a party of six." . The guy does not even look up or make any eye contact. He says nothing, just gets menus and walks us to the table. He's probably late 20's, short cut black hair and glasses. I think he either needs to get a new personality or a new job. It did not get the meal off to a good start, but the server made up for it. read more

My friend and I were passing through Missoula headed for the Tetons and decided to stop here for lunch. After we were seated a white female server came and took our drink order. She returned with the beverages and took my food order. She then totally ignored my friend, who is ethnic, and went to the next table and took their food order. I remarked to my friend about this and was about to call for the manager when she returned to our table and took my friend's food order. The food was subsequently brought and was merely ok but certainly nothing to rave about. My friend paid the tab, leaving a generous tip regardless of the slight, and we left. The next day he woke up with food poisoning. The behavior of the server leads me to conclude the food poisoning was intentional and that she was racist. I WOULD NOT recommend this restaurant AT ALL, to anybody, and most especially not to anyone who is ethnic. Unfortunately we encountered other acts of racism in Montana. Apparently 'if you ain't white, you ain't right' is heartfelt and practiced vigorously in Montana. If you want BBQ, DO NOT go to the Famous Dave's in Missoula!!! read more

I used to love famous daves!! But it seems like their food is just mass produced. With very little heart, the food seemed overdone- and very tough- had their platter meal and son got a hamburger, hamburger was very overdone and platter had chicken, ribs and brisket- i hope this was a off experience and it improves- i will post if anything changes next time. read more

We eat here whenever we are in Missoula. My soda tasted weird -- like someone dropped perfume in it -- but the staff replaced it with ice tea, no problem and no argument. Parking was a challenge, but that's Missoula. Great barbecue, and worth the trouble. read more

You can smell the mouthwatering smell of barbecue when you drive by. Yummy! This is exactly why I could never be a vegetarian. My family and I have eaten here countless times over the years, and other than one time, the service and food have always been great. The restaurant is decorated with rustic western decor which ties in nicely with the food. The atmosphere is great and so are the portions. The restaurant just opened back up on Monday, after having been closed over a month due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have had to change some things in order to be able to reopen, but the quality of their food remains the same. As you walk in, there is a bottle of hand sanitizer to clean your hands with prior to being seated. In order to keep with the new social distancing guidelines, only half of the tables and booths are being used. They no longer keep salt and pepper shakers or bottles of condiments and barbecue sauce at the table. It is all brought out as you need it in packets. If you love burgers, barbecue,and good hearty food.....Famous Dave's is where you need to be! read more

Fantastic food as usual from a Famous Dave's. During this COVID outbreak they did a nice job keeping everyone separated and ensuring everything was kept clean. Our waitress was super nice and on top of all of our needs. I had the Mac and cheese with brisket and my buddy had a BBQ salad of some sort. He said his was excellent and mine was as well. YUK! Took over 25 min to get chicken wrap, & the beef tip tacos. Was told chef didn't know how to make the wrap after 20 minutes. Should have ended it at that. Tortilla dried out & was just chicken salad w mayo. Awful! There was only 1 other party in the bar & one in restaurant so don't know why it took forever to even get food. Waiters excuse was "we are a bbq place"! Then don't have items you don't know how to prepare on your menu! Hubby loves bbq I'm not a big fan. Had dinner there. Brisket with sides of corn and garlic mashed potatoes. Service was fair to middling. Mashed potatoes were great. Brisket was not fork tender. Was not juicy. Flavor was good. They ran behind on the muffins so our meals were almost done by the time we got served a muffin. The corn on the cob was terrible. Only my mom wanted desert. She had to tell the waitress three times before it was acknowledged. I'm unlikely to return to this chain. Just not a fan of mediocre food at a premium price. read more

The Wilbur beans were delicious but I was very disappointed in the beef tips. They had a good flavor but very tough. Commercial BBQ, but pretty good overall. Feasts and combo platters are the most fun - variety is the long suit here. If your looking for good, authentic southern BBQ, this place isn't it. But if you looking for a reliable experience at any Dave's, this is reliable. Be sure to have the burnt ends. After having them the first time - at Dave's - I've since tried them at several much more authentic southern BBQ joints, and always come away disappointed by comparison. Which leads me to believe, Dave's is not authentic Burnt Ends. But whatever it is, it's crack. Tender, juicy, flavor-able, I give the Burnt Ends 6 out of 5 stars. Whenever in Missoula, I go to the Notorious P.I.G. for great BBQ - from brisket and pulled pork to BBQ beans (the best I've had, anywhere) and potato salad. But I also go to Dave's. Solid experience overall. I started with the chili. It was flavorful but only lukewarm. One friend had the 2 meat meal - he thought brisket & smoked sausage were really good. Green bean side was given thumbs up as well. Other friend had brisket sandwich - he was pleased with flavor but there was too much fat - looked like he got different brisket than the other friend. My grilled chicken sandwich was disappointing. It was burnt and tiny - did not cover 1/2 the bun. I had to send it back. Next one was the right size, cooked right and tasted fine but arrived about the time my friends were finishing up. Nothing to make it a must return type spot. read more

First it took an hour to get my take out order! Then when I finally got it it was NOT even what I ordered! When I drove back to the place they refused to refund my money because they " made what was on the ticket". Apparently when their employee enters the order incorrectly from the phone call it is the customers fault!!! They didn't even read the order back to me they just told me 20 minutes and hung up!!!! needless to say I will never, EVER go back to this shit hole again!!! I only wish I could give them the zero rating they earned but the lowest it would let me go was one. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to that shit hole of a place!!!! not one competent employee in the entire place!!!! Do yourself a favor and go to Notorious P.I.G!
