I've driven past this place numerous times and finally had a chance to check it out when I met up with some friends here. This charming place serves as a café and specialty gourmet store. Inside you'll find fancy products that are great for gifting or sprucing up your kitchen. There's cheese, wine, beer, alcohol, cigars, & gift baskets. My eyes lit up when I spotted a bottle of Fortaleza Tequila on the shelf. If you're hungry they offer everything from breakfast items, sandwiches, pizzas, salads, & pastries. You can also get coffee, tea, & smoothies. You order at the counter and someone will bring your food to you. There is no seating inside but plenty of places to sit outside. The service is very good and the staff is very friendly indeed. We enjoyed the seating outside and there was plenty of it. Also parking was easy next to the restaurant. Regarding the food. All the wonderful offers of the merchandise they sell inside is quite impressive but pricey. I guess that is what makes it " gourmet ". But when I get to the food what we had. My spouse's vegan sandwich. He said it was ok. But he let me taste the bread and I ( especially as a European) found that bread absolutely disgusting. From a so called " gourmet " place I expert a fresh crunchy roll that actually taste like a real bread and not like this, whatever it was. Sorry. My small pepperoni pizza. Oh lordi. For this money in a place like this I truly expected something more outstanding and not something that reminded me of a frozen pizza from Ralph's and so oily that the oil seeped through the cartons bottom. Today I was in Los Feliz and decided to try out the Oaks Gourmet Market and Café. I've heard a few things about this place, and I was actually over at Gelson's first looking for a quick bite to eat. I noticed this place across the street and did a quick check of the menu before I decided The Oaks would be way more quality for my dollar. The first really great thing about this place that you'll notice from the street is that it has plenty of outdoor seating. I absolutely absolutely loved this for the early evening time that I was there. When you go inside, it looks like your typical wine shop / cafe deal, but you could tell everything was very high-quality. The menu had a good amount of options, but was not overwhelming. I know they're known for their sandwiches, so I decided that's where I would start. I eventually settled on the Garlic Pepper Chicken Banh Mi. They actually bring over your food even though they're more of a "order at the counter" spot, so I thought that was a nice touch. It didn't really take long at all. The sandwich I ordered was very impressive quality! The bread was super soft, as it should be, and all of the toppings were really fresh and bright. Now I will say $17 is a lot for a sandwich of this very modest portion. That would be my only detraction from my experience. While the food was really good quality for a casual setting, I really wish that the sandwiches were about 1.5x times bigger. I feel like you could easily double the portions of both the meat and the toppings and then you'd get a much better portioned meal. Regardless, everything on the menu looked great and they also have weekly specials from the signs that I saw. I can definitely see why people regularly come here and it's very hyped up. Saw this spot on "Man's Greatest Food" so decided to give them a try. More of a specialty store selling Wine, Beer and cheese. Also offering coffee/pastries as well Sandwiches. All day breakfast (limited) and pizza. Seating is outside with a handful of tables. Order at the counter and they'll bring out your order. There is a small lot for parking next to their building. Quite on a Tuesday afternoon around 4. Ordered the Oaks Burger-They ask for temperature preference-I asked for medium and confirmed that it would be a pink center. Confirmed Medium again ("please make sure the kitchen gets this right") when I went back in to order some to go items. The Burger came out and it was well put together-Bacon was cooked the way I like it. Unfortunately, it was medium well. The Lady who took my order was apologetic (not her fault). The toppings, jalapeño compote helped save the day somewhat. The Oaks Bacon Burrito was delicious and stood out as well Garlic Pepper Chicken Banh Mi with marinated chicken and jalapeños for some heat didn't disappoint. Service was friendly and helpful. We'll be back to try some of the other sandwiches/pizza and give the Burger another chance. read more

If you have any respect for yourself, don't ever spend your money, no matter how easy you made it, on any food or beverage from "The Oaks Gourmet. Places like The Oaks "Gourmet" need to have their hearts ripped out in neighborhoods like this. The food here is basically like Sodexo and Urth Cafe had sex. There is zero quality or honor in any of the food or beverage offering. Every last dish is the definition of "uninspired" and every last smoothie has 15 tabs of Hailey Bieber lore pulled up on their laptops out front in the parking lot. Perhaps the "wine" they hawk is quality? In conclusion, you may be better off getting scammed at the Gelsons across the street. Atleast you'll do your part in making The Oaks Gourmet Ponzi disappear. Is anyone ever gonna hold people like this accountable? or is LA doomed to this subpar standard of hospitality? I can't believe Ived lived down the street from here for years and I just came here for the first time recently! This place is adorable, it's a very nice cafe/restaurant/wine store/ smoothie bar/ baked goods/ hot meals and just well everything else you could think of! The bread was amazinggg And the workers (i think their names were brad and gabby, I apologize if i remembered wrong ) But they were super nice, friendly, and helpful! Came for lunch on a weekday. They have no baby seating (no high chairs) so my very wiggly baby had to sit on a normal chair which made lunch a little bit more difficult. Went here for a salad and a latte. The latte was good, my salad wasn't very flavorful. I got the Italian chopped salad which is usually a slam dunk for flavorful and tasty items, but the deli meats and garbanzo beans they added were bland and it had whole olives which I found interesting. The staff are really friendly and very apologetic when there was an issue in the kitchen causing the food to come out late. They are next to a parking lot which is convenient. If I could give 3.5/5 I would I got an almond croissant warmed up. The powdered sugar and almonds looked promising, and they were, but the price of $6.50(including tax and tip) did not match the level of fulfillment I got. The croissant was flaky and warm on the outside but dense and chewy in the middle. Probably great for dipping in coffee or tea! My favorite part was the sugar and crunchy almonds along with the filling was of bread. Everyone who worked there was super nice and the seating is great, on days when you can sit outside. The Oaks is a perfect blend of food, beverages, snacks and alcohol. This place seems to be the perfect place to spend a nice afternoon. My cousin and I often meet up here to grab some food and coffee and catch up. My last visit there I enjoyed a margherita pizza and mint iced tea. The pizza was so fresh and the crust was perfect. As an Elder Millennial born in the early 80s; I've reached the point in my life where I'm apparently not hip, not 'in the know', old-fashioned and generally don't understand slang. I've even been called "an old hag" once by a 20 year old Gen Z kid. Frankly, I'm glad: I don't want to be in their world. Basically, I don't always understand why things are considered cool. This extends to certain Los Angeles businesses/establishments. I just don't get it, sometimes. The Oaks Gourmet is one of those places. Why is this place so special?! I am quite in the dark! Listen, The Oaks Gourmet isn't horrible and I don't have reasonable complaints but it also isn't the amazing golden palace that the rich hipsters in Los Feliz/Franklin Village make it out to be. Everyone has at least driven past The Oaks Gourmet as it holds real estate in the small business strip on Franklin/Bronson across the street from the Scientology Celebrity Center and next to the famous Upright Citizens Brigade. But unless you live in the area and walk to The Oaks Gourmet; then expect a clustered parking situation. There IS a free parking lot but it is limited in spaces and is begging for bumper-to-bumper accidents. So, what is The Oaks Gourmet? It's a combination shop that would best fit into Larchmont Village meshing together an artisan-style convenience store  (think kombucha, coconut water, cheese and salami versus Gatorade and potato chips), a small café/coffee shop (also serving sandwiches) and a liquor/wine store where most of the hipsters probably only want IPAs. According to the Grammy Award-winning musician I visited with: many celebrities stop by the shop. He may have been trying to impress me but it just made me roll my old-ass eyes. The Oaks Gourmet is clean, naturally-lit and tops it off with high ceilings and lots of wooden accents. Exactly what you would expect from such a place. Our visit to The Oaks Gourmet was simple enough with me ordering a small iced tea (unsweetened) from the café and my friend going with a single shot espresso. Service was Speedy Gonzalez- fast (granted, these choices don't involve too much preparation). The tea was tasty: light, refreshing and tasted of quality. The espresso was also delicious but nothing out of the ordinary. Again, there is nothing wrong with The Oaks Gourmet but it is also nothing to write home about. It is basically the small-scale version of when people insist on shopping at Erewon and Whole Foods when they can get the same items cheaper at Ralphs. It is simply a place to "be seen".  Or maybe I'm just too un-cool to really 'get it'. Either way, stop by at The Oaks Gourmet or don't. Neither here nor there.  Just be prepared for hipster galore. read more

I was across the street at gelsons and saw this place had a grilled cheese so I looked online and saw their grilled cheese came with a soup and looked good. It took a bit longer than anticipated but it was well worth the wait. The guy at the cash register was super apologetic but they were busy it was Saturday I didn't mind waiting a bit. I've intermittently thought about the burger from The Oaks Gourmet for years - from the onset of popular food culture, the burger from The Oaks definitely made its rounds on people's blogs and social media. And many years later, I was serendipitously in the area and decided to finally fulfill my burger dreamZ. The Oaks Burger is a 1/2 pound patty, topped with bacon, arugula, red onion tomato, smoked jalapeño compote, taleggio, on a toasted bun ($15.95). I carried this 1/2 pound burger home...and this wasn't that great. The great big burger patter was super lacking in flavor...not even the melted cheese could help it along. It was very disappointing because it was so bland. So, so bland. So bland. Maybe a sauce would have helped the situation. However the Roasted Turkey Club ($15.95) saved the day. This sandwich comes with roast turkey, bacon, sharp cheese, tomato, red onion, sprouts, basil aioli, on country bread. I'm going to tell you now - country bread isn't that friendly when retoasted - you gotta eat it there or ask for it to be not toasted. The turkey was top notch - thick slabs of turkey, combined with everything else, equated a very good, but expensive sandwich. In any case, is was a very good sandwich with high quality ingredients. Hey so. It's expensive here. Find your pace and you'll be fine. I think it makes for a good after hiking situation or for a to-go-to the Hollywood Bowl situation. The pictures say it all. $12 avocado toast. 1 slice of bread, barely any avocado, 2 slices of tomato, 1 egg. No condiments on it whatsoever. $14 for the Italian Breakfast sandwich and yolks were already broken when I unwrapped it and there are no condiments on the bread, so it's bone dry. Overpriced and meh. I used to come here all the time when I was going to AFI. Thought this would be a lovely sentimental experience. That's a big fat NOPE. The ultimate BLT is great. Good size, and fulfilling. The bacon was crispy and the avocado was prepared fresh. A bit too much sauce on this sandwich from the sauce being prepared on both sides of the bread. A bit too pricey for just the sandwich at $13.95 & $2.50 for the bottle. The drink tasted very carbonated with a hint of rose, you do not really taste the lemonade part. The seating area is only available outdoors. You have to go in to purchase the bottle drink but you also can order your meal there. The prices of the drink aren't labeled. Parking is available on-premise or I guess across the street at Gelsons plus there is street parking. Just watch out if it's a street cleaning day. read more
