I had a terrible experience here and could not recommend: I needed an oil change. Part way through they informed me that my oil valve gasket is leaking and I need to take my car to the dealership. As I'm in from out of town, I listened and paid for my oil change. * The dealership informed me that the oil exchange over filled my oil during this oil change. There was no leak just a mess. Secondly the filter that had been used and bought at this location is the wrong size. The dealership had to fix everything that I paid $78 to be done. I wasted an entire day at a dealership due to the negligence and mess this business caused. Such a disgrace and I'll be contacting the better business bureau. Hours should actually say open until 6:30pm. Drove there specifically because I missed the other businesses that close at 6:00 so I drove further away to try and get service. When I arrived at 6:26pm I was told that they weren't taking any more customers and were closed for cleaning for the night. So, oil change shops are a dime a dozen, right? Recently I had a great experience with Joe (the owner) and his shop which showed me how much he stands behind his company's work. A cardboard shield had fallen off the bottom of my car about 1000 miles after getting an oil change. I contacted Joe and he ordered a new replacement cover at no charge! When the part came in I stopped by and had him install it. I recommend getting your oil changed and ask him what else needs to be done. As a shade tree mechanic I appreciate having fresh oil & filters every 5000 miles or twice a year. It will keep your car going for a long time. read more

Service was good but I had a little argument with the manager/owner. He told me I needed a 'oil cleaner additive' because it had been 2 years since my last oil change. WRONG, I get synthetic oil change every 7,500 miles not 3,000 miles (approx 6 months). I got angry because they always try to up charge me for some other type of service. Went here for oil change as I have done several times before with no problem, but this time without realizing they were upselling me the used a full synthetic oil which is not required in my car. Wow did I get a shock! Instead of $45.00 like the Ford dealer charges it was $79.00. I got nothing extra for my $30.00 as far as I'm concerned. Maybe because I'm female they thought they could over sell me. At the ford dealer it's $49.00 and they rotate the tires and wash car while I wait, usually 15 minutes. I've came here for the past year or so. I get an oil change about everyone 1.5-2 months. I like they have the TV's and offer a water. They show me the new filter before it goes in. They show me the oil level to see its new oil and full when they are done. They check my lights and more. They are always friendly. They never have been pushy to up sell me. They've asked but never pushy. I trust these guys. Yesterday they told an older man his transmission was black (should be red) and he refused to change because of the price I assumed and they didn't push. The older guy was confused on the price of his oil change and they politely explained fees. It surprised me to see reviews saying they are pushy. They may offer additional services if they see the need but never have pushy about it. I don't get mad when I'm asked if I'd like fries with my burger, so I won't be upset if they ask if I'd like any other service. I'll be there in another couple of months. read more

Mark, my technician, seemed to know his job and told me about services that may need to get done but explained the WHY/WHAT would be done vs. just push. I appreciate the education approach. Just took my brand new car in for an oil change... they drained my old stuff and forgot to replace it. On my way home, the engine started knocking, looked at the dipstick to find no oil AT ALL. No sign of an oil leak, the oil we put in after that stays in the tank. Went back to see what they could do for me, since my engine is now trashed... the employee who performed the oil change was extremely rude to us, wouldn't provide his name and refused to even refund my $60, let alone the money for the damage that has been done to my car. In fact, he refused to acknowledge his mistake at all. The "corporate" number provided by the employee turned out to be the number for the store, which we called and were informed that the manager will not be in for several days. Still waiting to see how the Oil Exchange will resolve this for me, but the situation doesn't look good. read more

I recommend that anyone who got an oil change and new oil filter to check with a trusted mechanic to make sure they actually changed it out. I used to come here for all of my oil changes but recently got one done through someone that was already doing work on my car and he told me that the filter was old and full of sludge. I get my oil changes regularly so that tells me that I paid for a new filter that was not put in my car. Who knows how long they've used that same filter. They claim they show you the old filter everytime they change it but they have never shown me my old filter. read more

In and out, thats what this place is. It's cold, snowy, and I did not even have to get out of my car.I drove in, parked my car, and 15 minutes later, my oil change was complete. They filled my empty washer fluid for no additional charge as well. They did try to sell me on a new filter and a couple other unnecessary services, but that's understandable. They usually remember to reset the oil life gauge in your car if you have one, but they have forgotten before, leaving the oil light on. Lots of good education about my car and what other service it might need, with no pressure. Super friendly staff who genuinely seem to like what they do. I took my car to the dealership for a "discounted" oil change using a coupon they mailed me. Got there for my service, only to find out the tiny print excluded my car from this "special" -- even though I had purchased the vehicle from their shop. Got our oil changed today and the "mechanic" squirted oil all over engine (accidentally). Horrible job of cleaning up with water (?). Left and turned on wipers to get excess water off of windshield only to find that it was oil!!! Came home, cleaned car, checked fluids and wiper fluid was not full. Looked over check list and half the things that were checked had not been done. Husband went back to speak to manager. Manager was going to reach out to DM and get back with husband. I went here based on all the really good reviews and others saying these guys are not pushy. I get that up selling is likely part if their job, but I was very disappointed. For starters, it was not quick. There was two lines of cars waiting to be serviced, so it took a good half hour just to get in the garage. When it was my turn, I told the technician/mechanic that I only wanted an oil change as I was very tight on cash. After looking over my car, he came back to tell me I needed a flush, a filter, new wipers, etc etc. I told him I wasn't working and had $60 to my name. He continued to talk down to me telling me I'd be wasting my money getting an oil change. I mentioned that I had lost my job and was just trying to get by with what I had. He insisted that I needed everything he suggested and tried scaring me into buying everything at a price quoted just over $63. I again told him I only had $60, and he agreed to do the work for $60. By that time I just wanted to leave. After the work was done (oil change, filter, wipers), he shouted really loud about me not having a job now but to come back when I was employed. As if all that wasn't enough, the cheap wipers he put on only lasted a week. What a joke! read more

Had my oil changed on 6/21/14. Was washing my car today and found that these guys stole 3 of my air caps off of my tires!! This is the 2nd time this has happened, although the 1st time i did not realize it was them. These caps are the normal black caps they are alum, which must be why they keep stealing them. I've gone to this oil exchange for years, and they are always quick, friendly, and never pushy. They only tell you what you need and nothing else. This last time I went, they noticed a crack in the bottom of my window that I hadn't noticed while they were doing my oil change and offered to fix it real quick for a cheaper price. They also offered to clean off some acid that had formed on my battery for a few bucks (which I was already aware of), but told me how I could do it myself at home if I didn't want to pay for it. This is the only time they've even tried to sell me on other things, and they were things that I absolutely needed. I'm sure they noticed other things wrong with my car that they could've tried to sell me on (it's old), but I had told them that I wasn't planning on keeping the car much longer, and only needed it to get me through a certain amount of time. They were great about it, and even gave me some suggestions to make it last until I was ready to get a new car. This is the only oil exchange that I feel comfortable going to by myself, and can trust that they won't try to up-sell me unnecessarily. read more

Please do not patronize this particular location, located at 785 Pontiac Trail in Walled Lake, Michigan. Took my vehicle there for a full service oil change which cost $73.91. The owner named Joe was very rude, disrespectful and unapologetic for what happened during my visit. On my receipt they wrote coolant "full" meaning it didn't need any. However 2 days later my coolant light started blinking red upon startup. My husband checked and it was near empty. I didn't want to drive it until he filled it up because I didn't want to risk blowing my engine. I called the shop and advised Joe that my car didn't have any coolant. He goes on to explain that once service is performed on a vehicle someone else checks their work to make sure everything was done so it's possible I could have a leak (highly unlikely as there was nothing on my garage floor). He asked me to bring it back in- never said to bring it back the same day or even the next. I decided to take it in 6 days later as I wanted to see if his "theory" was correct. Husband checked the coolant before I took it in and guess what? Still at the same level as when my husband filled it. Joe NEVER apologized or admit that they dropped the ball. He asked me what I would like him to do and I said a free full service oil changed the next time- like I should have received on this visit. He said "that's not going to happen" and never offered an alternative but instead got defensive when I took out my phone to record our interaction and take pictures. He became very disrespectful and verbally abusive- cursing and calling me names, then told me to leave and threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. We have taken our vehicles there in the past but that will never happen again, not because of the mistake but rather how the situation was handled. Shame on you Joe! Through word of mouth and social media, you are getting the review you deserve! Good customer service creates loyal customers and keeps your doors open. You failed!
