Felt so nice to see and support a Palestinian owned shop here in Hayward. I really hope they flourish! I got various chocolates and other items (as seen in my pic). The place is pricey, but to be expected since they're considered more "novelty" over here. I assume the gentleman working that day was the owner, but I didn't ask. He was knowledgeable and friendly. I'll definitely comeback to support them again and maybe get some Arabic coffee.

We came here after eating out in Hayward and were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted upon entering and then gravitated toward the chocolate truffle bins. It's nice because you can fill in your bags with whatever chocolates you like. We got 1-2 of the flavors that intrigued us and ate them within a week. We had truffles with digestive cookies, biscoff cream (delicious), chocolates with almond, truffles with cream cream cheese filling, pistachio cream, and then other unique chocolate delicacies from the middle eastern region. We liked everything except for the walnut chocolates. For a small bag full of chocolates, we paid around $11 though it's about $25 per pound. We would come back here during the winter to buy some of these chocolates for friends and family. We were very happy with our visit and will definitely return!

I've been here a couple times. It's a quaint place. It's a hidden gem for Hayward and I'm so glad they opened. The owners are down to earth and welcoming. They have two small tables for seating to have a quick bite of your desserts or drink Turkish coffee. They have a variety of selection of gummies, sweets, chocolates, Dubai chocolates, olives, nuts, Turkish delights. I've gotten their Dubai chocolate as well as the chocolate, strawberry Dubai cup (very tasty). Friends have gotten Turkish delights here and I do enjoy it with tea. I have yet to try their Turkish coffee, but hope to try it one day. I love how they make bouquets out of chocolate. Great place for gifts and treats.

Came here specifically to try the viral Dubai chocolate. This Palestinian-owned store is a hidden gem tucked right next to Susie Q Pizza in Hayward. They carry an impressive selection of sweet treats, Turkish delights, chocolate strawberries, Turkish coffee, and a wide variety of chocolates that make it almost impossible to choose just one. The Dubai chocolate, especially the pistachio and kanafe , was absolutely delicious. One large bar cost $25 which was perfect for sharing. I also tried their Turkish coffee--bold and very aromatic . A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth or a love for Middle Eastern treats! They also roast their own nuts. Family owned store where they provide best service and make sure you leave happy.

Rose scented olive oil soap and various sweet treats

I had heard a lot about this small business from my auntie a couple years ago when Dubai chocolate suddenly became viral. I finally found some time to visit with my cousin on a quiet Friday early afternoon. We were greeted to a beautiful, clean, and well organized store by the kind and polite owner, Areej. The vibe of the store very much so echoed a candy store you'd find in a shopping mall, except all the sweet treats are handmade and imported from countries such as Palestine and Turkey. Areej was very kind and welcoming and walked us through each of the different sweet treats, such as truffles and Turkish delights. There are also various mixed roasted nuts options with unique seasonings, and even Dubai chocolate strawberry cups! Areej was kind and generous, providing ample samples of the Turkish delights in flavors like Oreo, Dubai chocolate, birthday cake, and even sesame chocolate! My cousin also really likes their mixed party nuts that had a great spicy kick to it from a special blend of imported spices. Because of Areej's hospitality and generosity, as well as the prime quality of the chocolate truffles, mixed toasted nuts, and Turkish delights we were able to sample, I definitely did not hesitate to take home some delectable goodies (see photos). There also were skincare products made in Palestine, and I bought this homemade rose scented olive oil soap that I'll be gifting to my friend for her birthday :) Thank you so much, Areej, for being so welcoming! We will definitely recommend to others and come back! PS: It was mentioned that in the past, many people would walk in, sample large amounts of the shop's goodies, and then rudely leave the store without buying anything. Honestly, that's so distasteful! We need to support small businesses as much as possible, and even buying as much as one tiny chocolate truffle helps sustain businesses like The Old City Roastery. Businesses that make our diverse SF Bay Area so rich in culture and high-quality foreign culinary cuisines. Have some decorum, yall!!

Everything we've gotten here has been delicious! We came here on a weekend and it was heart warming to see that they had folks supporting this small business. We got a couple different kinds of Turkish delight as well as some mixed snacks. Additionally, it's super cute to see the kids helping out the family business. They were super helpful and gave us honest answers when we asked which flavors they liked best.

The service was amazing, such friendly vibes and all the chocolate to indulge from with a huge variety! 10/10

Been meaning to check out this local gem for awhile & came in when I saw their 1 year celebration & fundraiser via Instagram. Really lovely & tidy inside, street parking was plentiful, was offered help quickly but also given space to browse. I bought some Turkish delight, several dark chocolates to try & 2 Palestine colas ( had these at a friends' party & liked it) Too bad I was already caffeinated as I'd like try the Turkish coffee. Will be back.

Let me start by saying : We need more shops like this !!! In the meantime this one gets all my attention ! I originally came for the Dubai chocolate and left with so much more !!! Clean, friendly and full of amazing beautiful surprises! Chocolate, Turkish delights, nuts, tea, olives even pomegranate molasses! It was so hard to peel Myself away from the treats and restrict myself ! Even my husband the picky one started pointing things out to grab. I am in love with this little shop that feels like walking in into someone's pantry of love ! Please check it out leave with a smile and a full heart !

    Inside Dubai strawberries

They have strawberry Dubai cups/bowls with either dark or milk chocolate! Super fresh and delicious! We also had a piping hot Turkish coffee that's steeped in a sand bath - such a unique touch. On top of that, we picked up a variety of little chocolates, including chocolate covered dates, chocolate covered hazelnut, and chocolate covered blueberry with cream cheese. Everything was beautifully made and full of unique flavors. Highly recommend!

Came here since my friend raved about their Dubai chocolate . She told me the man there let you samples anything you want in the store. When I got there on a Saturday afternoon, I saw a man in the front and a lady in the back. The lady asked me what I was looking for and I said Dubai chocolate. She told me where the bars are. And I asked if I could sample it. She first said no! She didn't sound too welcoming. Then she said "you can try the individually wrapped ones." So we tried out the dark and milk Dubai chocolate. The dark was very good. Not bitter. Ratio of chocolate and fillings was good. The milk one was a bit too sweet for my taste. So I got a bar of dark Dubai chocolate. They actually ran out of the milk one. I didn't sample other chocolate like my friend did since the lady didn't offer. For $25 a bar, it's pricey but this is viral now so that's why they increased the price so quickly . It was $14 5 months ago!

This cute new Turkish delight spot is a new hidden gem in Hayward. It fits right into the neighborhood! The store is super clean and filled with all kind of goodies! I love their Dubai chocolate as well as their mixed nuts they sell. It near downtown Hayward and is a great go to for unique sweets and they have an amazing chocolate strawberry Dubai cup that I'm addicted to!

Pistachio and chocolate. Enough said! Old City Roastery commands a presence in downtown Hayward as likely the only shop selling the infamous Dubai chocolate (chocolate bar with pistachio filling) in addition to a variety of nuts, chocolates, and sweets. If you're a fan of pistachio, this is a must visit for you! This mom and pop shop operates just a block away from the theater and public parking. It started up shop relatively recently (about 5 months ago) so I'm not surprised if it hasn't yet gotten the foot traffic it deserves. But if you happen to be free to come by, you need to make your way and stock up on some of their delicious chocolates. At $25 a bar for their Dubai chocolate bar or a pound of their individually wrapped chocolates, it's quite pricey but the quality is definitely worth it. Coming in milk and dark chocolate varieties, the pistachio loaded Dubai chocolate bar is a decadent treat fit for royalty, and you, my friend, can follow the figuratively red carpet through their doors to grab your own. As you crunch into the perfectly tempered chocolate exterior, you are met with a green, rich and nutty interior bursting with pistachio. This is just the start as you'll find that one bite is just not enough; one row may not be enough; one bar may not be enough! And if you happen to be adventurous, you pay by the pound for the individual chocolates so go wild and mix and match to come up with the perfect bag. Are you a purist or looking to get a tasting menu of sorts? Why not both?! When I happened to come in during my visit, specifically looking for the Dubai chocolate bar, I was greeted by the friendly shopkeepers who offered some Turkish coffee while I browsed. They even allowed me to sample one of the individual pieces before stuffing my bag with more of their goodies. In addition to all the chocolates and gummies that were available, they also had some exports including this really interesting pistachio cream (like a spread for toast). I was literally a kid in a candy shop and was tempted to buy a bit of everything. With a little self control, I was able to limit my purchases to just the chocolates and the cream but I cannot wait until the next time I am back to try more of their treats. The Dubai chocolates were great gifts for friends and family - most of whom didn't even know what Dubai chocolates were (granted I didn't know either until I had a taste of Old City Roastery's at an event). Overall, Old City Roastery is certainly a niche shop but if sweets are on the menu, this is the destination. With a convenient location, clean storefront, welcoming staff, and probably some of the best chocolates you'll have, you'll go nuts and get chocolate wasted simultaneously for this little gem in Hayward. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend stopping by here and picking something up to eat on the spot or to bring home and enjoy with friends and family. This local business is making a splash and I sure hope Dubai chocolate bars are here to stay because by golly, Old City Roastery has got the recipe down perfectly!

It's in a corner of a very cute gourmet food hall and had a good selection of goods left in mid-afternoon on a weekday. Service is also friendly and prompt. I had to get the kouign amann because I always get one wherever I can, and also picked up a plain croissant, currant scone, and panna cotta. The KA was decent; I would call this one a diet KA because they only put the sugar on one side so it was more like a brulee'd croissant. I also have to admit that, while this shaping is very attractive, the direction of the lamination makes eating this feel like shards in my mouth. However, flavor was excellent. The plain croissant is very plain. It's decent but I've had better. The scone and panna cotta, however, were delightful. Both had lovely soft textures and wonderful creamy flavors. The scone held up for two days and wasn't even a bit stale when I finally had it for breakfast. Highly recommend this tucked-away bakery in the Castro Valley!

Seven Hills Baking Co was my first stop as I haven't had sourdough since childhood. I got their classic sourdough loaf. Even though it wasn't warm anymore it was still amazing. It was quite hard to cut into with a serrated bread knife, which I'm not sure whether that's normal or abnormal for gluten sourdough. However, the inside was lovely and soft. Nice strong sour flavor, spongy dough that was almost moist (not at all dry). I want to note on the gluten free front that seven hills baking co offers a few items which they advertise to be gluten free. Though the ingredients may be gluten free, the items are baked in the same kitchen, the same oven, and then put side by side with the gluten in the display case. Furthermore I don't believe their ingredients are all certified gluten free. Therefore I do not recommend seven hills baking co for anybody with celiac disease. Do not buy your friend with a gluten allergy or celiac these items. There is most certainly cross contact.

When I went in, there was a graduation cake I wanted, but I was told they couldn't sell it because they were out of cake boxes. A huge shoutout to Erin, Ankit, and the rest of the team for going above and beyond to make it happen. The cake was still $79.99, but when you have no other options and people genuinely care to help, it is completely worth it. They wrote a graduation congratulatory message on the cake, secured it carefully with tape, found a large box to safely transport it, and even helped carry it out to my car. Most importantly, the cake was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. Thank you so much to Erin, Ankit, and the entire team for taking the extra time and effort to make this happen. I truly appreciated your kindness and willingness to help, even without the proper cake box available.
