This might be my fave Whiskey Bar in PDX. Great selection of Whiskeys, at a fair price, and a very knowledgable staff. Cocktails are awesome. They usually have a great Single Barrel available that they hand select. Latest was a tasty Old Forester. Good stuff. Food and atmosphere are great with a nice covered and heated patio to hang in. This place is legit.

We had a perfect first time experience there recently. There is no table service - so we sat at the bar to be served. Bartender was charming, attentive and helpful. We shared the ELK BURGER - moist, flavorful, delicious, unique. It came with SALT & PEPPER BEER-BATTERED FRENCH FRIES - crispy, salty nomnom. Hubby had the HAND-POPPED POPCORN and loved it. I had the SEASONAL SOUP = tasted like home. We also sampled our way down the cocktail menu and were not disappointed. Will be back!

Hal is the best bartender around! Food is fantastic, always have a good time here. The Whiskey selection is huge and the cocktails strong.

I'm happy I got to come back here to review it. One of the best neighborhood bars in NE Portland great food great drinks. Did I mention they have a whiskey club over 50 whiskeys to try. The food came out fast and it was delicious gotta try the fried chicken sandwich and the fries are addicting as is. Good patio especially when the sun is out. Will definitely be back

Honestly one of my tried and true spots. Always consistently good food, service and can't beat the location. They have done SO much to make their space safe. Distanced, masks, tons of patio space, and even signs that tell you if a table is dirty or clean. The banh mi is on a perfect roll, it's spicy but not too bad and the chicken is well seasoned. I cannot resist fries here bc they're beer battered and so crispy! The popcorn is our go to. Even if just going for drinks you've gotta get a bowl for the table! Highly recommend this spot! Fun place to bring friends, fam or a date!

So we went to town on ordering a few things: Half a dozen of oysters-super fresh, small and briny served on salt plate. They included a house made hot sauce that tasted super fruity. Scale of 1 out of 10. Foie gras torchon -classic flavors. Strawberry, rhubard, balsamic. Foie Served on toasted challah and we opted for the black truffle. This dish was a total disappointment tho. The foie is not buttery and the truffle tasted thin and had 0 flavor. I think we would've been happier with a dozen oysters. Iberico pork for 2. This was enough for 3 of us. The majo sausage and spatzel were excellent as was the pork. Think of thick cut pork chop and it tasted just like it. We had one piece dryer than the other but they were cooked closer to medium. This was the best dish of the night. At $79 I would certainly hope so. We ended the night with some house ice cream and the again, these guys understand classic flavors. Service here was terrific. It didn't feel rushed and food came out accordingly. My water was always topped off in my small glass. Would definitely revisit when I'm back at Portland.

The food is beautiful and artfully presented, but still approachable and unpretentious. The shrimp toast seems to be a standby, and is one of my faves. On a former visit, we enjoyed a duck for two dish that was perfectly prepared and so good. All of the snacks are tasty nibbles that set the tone for the meal, and the pastas are simply sumptuous. The wine list, of course, truly shines. This is a place where you can ask your server for recommendations for wines to pair with your meal, and you know you're going to get great recommendations. The interior dining space is larger than it looks from the outside, and the vibe is perfect for date nights, after work hangs, and girls' nights out. I've also always seen at least one family with children when I've dined here, so I like that they are welcoming of families. If you're driving here, I've never had a problem finding street parking nearby. But, there are garages close by as well. Can't wait for my next visit!

The restaurant…read morehas an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere and I appreciated thoughtful touches like providing toothpicks in the restroom. On our first visit we had a reservation and were seated at a table. After ordering, patrons are served a complimentary leek soup in an espresso size cup. I wish it were on the menu because it is one of the best things I've ever tasted. The flavor is incredibly rich! We ordered the clam chowder, halibut, maple glazed carrots and tres leches cake. The clam chowder's presentation was nicely done but nothing special in taste. It came so highly recommended on Reddit and many other diners ordered it but neither my party nor I cared for it. The halibut was good but didn't stand out and the maple glazed carrots weren't to my taste. What completely won us over was the tres leches cake. It is one of the most delicious and most memorable desserts we've ever had. Every layer complemented the next perfectly creating an incredibly balanced dessert that wasn't overly sweet with different textures. We couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It was one of the reasons we decided to give the restaurant a second shot. After our meal I mentioned to our server that we weren't sure if we'd ordered the right dishes since we weren't thrilled with the food especially with how popular the restaurant is. He explained that it's primarily an Argentinian steakhouse and suggested returning to try the meat dishes. On our second visit we arrived at opening without a reservation. There was plenty of seating but since we didn't have a reservation we were seated at the bar. I didn't mind seated at the bar but the bar stools were extremely uncomfortable, almost torturous. Unfortunately, it was too hot to sit outside. Midway through dinner a machine, maybe a dishwasher, was turned on behind the bar. It was loud and the vibrations could be felt. This time we ordered the beet salad, cheese empanada, beef empanada, two filet mignons and the lamb shoulder. The beet salad was a disappointment. It consisted of large overly soft chunks of beets with what tasted like a basic grocery store salad dressing. For a restaurant of this caliber I expected more. Neither of us enjoyed the cheese empanada but we both liked the beef empanada. We also ordered two filet mignons cooked the same way. Both arrived more done than requested and one way more overcooked than the other. They were also on the salty side, though both were very tender. The lamb shoulder, which our server had already warned us about before we ordered, ended up being dry and tough. The chimichurri served alongside the savory dishes was also heavier on onions than I prefer. Overall, the service was excellent, and the complimentary leek soup and tres leches cake were truly outstanding. Unfortunately, despite two visits, the main dishes we ordered didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation for us.
