Meh. Street parking very difficult in Laurelhurst. Great for the neighborhood but not a destination to go out of your way for. Overpriced for what you get and the snooty counter is not worth it. Big covered patio but you self serve your water and utensils and bus the table too. Why then the tip request?

This market/restaurant is named after the very nice neighborhood you find it in. They have a large tent covered patio that to me makes it feel less fancy and overpriced. If you want a nice dinner, sit inside. Our server was rarely seen. Most of my coworkers loved their dish, but my hangar steak was tiny and tough - should have got the NY strip. Deviled eggs decent. Orange cheesecake good, but not great. I wish I could speak more highly.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced high-quality steakhouse with a casual/cozy vibe, look no further. My partner and I just went to LM to celebrate her birthday and were pleasantly surprised for our first visit. The service was absolutely excellent with no water running empty, a helpful server that answered our questions and made accommodations, and a bonus birthday cookie for my partner we didn't expect. The steaks definitely hold up, too! We both got steak frites, her with flatiron and me with Wagyu and were thrilled. LM is nice and lets you swap your meat with the dish/prep style if you'd like and it was perfect. The fries were nicely seasoned, crispy, and flavorful. Do not sleep on the mac & cheese either! The caramelized onion and creamy cheese were honestly some of the best I'd had. Definitely sit outside if the weather's solid but even if it isn't it's a nice covered tent area with cute lighting that should stay warm year-round. It was a nice space that felt cozy & casual amidst the nicer food.

For a steakhouse, this place has excellent fish. My husband loves this place and I'm pescatarian. Every time I've been, they always have a fish entree available and when we asked if it was possible to leave the meat off of the gnocchi, they were happy to oblige. The gnocchi was one of the most flavorful dishes and I would've honestly been happy with that as my entree. The salmon was perfectly cooked. It's a nice treat for us on special occasions.

We've been back 3 times now to this amazing little unassuming butcher shop turned eclectic steak house. Every time the meals have been overwhelmingly more than we expect. The flavor combinations put forth by the chef are amazing. Yet to be disappointed. The ambiance is typical Portland. True farm to table experience. Service is always beyond reproach. We will be back! Great steaks, pork chops, burgers, it's all good. Wedge salad and appetizers pleasing. Desserts fresh! Hazelnut chocolate chip cookie warm and fresh. Amazing fresh strawberry ice cream! Yum!

The food was divine!! Some of the best steak I've in Portland. The service was superb, really friendly staff and well taken care of. Our water glass was never empty, all our food questions were answered and they even gave me the most delicious cookie for my birthday!

We had had some pretty hit or miss experiences with steakhouses in Portland as of late, so when my husband asked for steak for his birthday dinner I was feeing the pressure on where to go. Laurelhurst had popped up on my searches several times and for some reason I never chose it - well that was different this time and it glad. Service here is great - attentive and cordial! The ambience feels both relaxed but also refined - great for a chill lunch or a birthday celebration. Their menu is expansive but focused. All in all the vibes here are great. We ordered their scotch cocktail, hangar steak, ribeye, cowboy caviar, and kids steak & frites. It was all incredible - the sauce that comes with the hangar was the surprising hero! We also tried their cheesecake and chocolate mousse - also incredible. I'm kicking myself for having spent 9 years in the Portland area and just now coming. This will definitely be a staple spot when we want to go out for steak.

What a culinary triumph! I had been wanting to have dinner at Laurelhurt for years and I finally made it for my friend's birthday. To start, ambiance and service were beautiful. We went hard in the paint on the apps with the calamari, crab cakes, shishitos, and deviled eggs. The shishitos are a fancy take on jalapeno poppers and so worth getting. Same with the calamari. The crabcakes were really good, but I always prefer blue crab over dungeoness. The deviled eggs were on point too, but not something I normally gravitate towards. Now let's get to the real fireworks, that meat! I had the steak frites and it was PERFECT. The portions were great, the medium rare flat iron steak was cooked magnificently, and those fries....just go here. Stop reading my review and go to Laurelhurst right now for a next level meal.

    Tri Tip - a winner!

We didn't know about the order first and take a seat second process. Got scolded, nice. The time from order to execution was ridiculously long at 1:45 pm on a Friday. The balmy Tent was only half-full. That said, the smash burger was scrumptious. It's larger than ideal and the lettuce was a bit wilted, but still a winner. Their fries are my favorite kind: medium cut, crisp ends, and NO yucky seasoned salt or tempura batter. Maybe an off day on the service. Parking can be brutal especially as their delivery van unloads right on the corner of Burnside.

My husband is always craving a steak for his birthday and I've heard never-ending, amazing things about Laurelhurst Market, so we made a reservation to celebrate. We got seated right away, the hostess was friendly and mentioned the birthday listed on the reservation. To start, we ordered two cocktails, the beef tartare, and the shishitos peppers. The beef tartare was incredibly fresh and flavorful and the mustard vinaigrette was the perfect touch. The blistered shishitos were good, however, they were underwhelming compared to everything else and we probably wouldn't order them again. For our entree, we shared the Brandt Ranch Ribeye which was phenomenal - definitely one of our top 5 steaks we've ever had. We prefer medium rare and it was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crème fraiche to not overpower the flavor of the steak. Plus, the bacon vinaigrette went very well with the entire meal. We were incredibly impressed with the meal and the atmosphere, and we'd join again for sure. The area in which our experience lacked was the service, which was disappointing and didn't make us feel great ordering anything else. After we got our appetizers, and then entree, we were not checked on once and I had to wave down our server for another round of drinks. At the same time, he was supposed to get us a water refill which we never ended up getting. Our server didn't mention anything in regards to a birthday, never asked how our cocktails or food was, checked on every table around us (besides us) and we didn't even get a thank you as we passed him heading out the door. Because I've consistently heard amazing things about Laurelhurst, I'll take this as a fluke because I definitely believe in second chances, especially when the food was that good, but I hope the next server we get is more attentive and friendly. Neither of us would expect a birthday beverage or dessert, but after dining at several places where they offer a glass of champagne, a small dessert, etc. it definitely stands out when an establishment like this doesn't offer or acknowledge a celebration. Till next time - Cheers

We made a last-minute reservation online while at the park down the road at 7pm for 745 We arrived early and they sat us in 15 min. We learned we could share it all. Appetizer, salad and a steak. Extensive drink menu. They offer no. Alcohol drinks too. We had a great time. It was a good spontaneous date night

We had intended to go to another place for dinner but when they turned us away we found our self at Laurelhurst Market. We were sat outside in their tented area. The atmosphere was great BUT there were two tables who were just letting their young kids run around. While this is a family friendly spot it is a nicer restaurant and I would have expect better. I know that is a tough spot to put waiters and waitresses in but it was very loud and disruptive. We had two drinks each, a cheese and meat board, steaks and dessert. The food was amazing. I will say the cheese and meat board was a little out there for me. I am not a pate person so that was sad but the rest was amazing. We would absolutely be back!

Have come here 2x in the past month and the food is outstanding and the service is great! Even as a vegetarian, I had tons of options and the prices are reasonable. 100% recommended for large parties or party of 2!

We ordered one of the daily specials, a beef tartare with arbol and peanut crunch, and were blown away. The best tartare I've ever had. On our first visit we had a reservation and were seated at a table. After ordering, patrons are served a complimentary leek soup in an espresso size cup. I wish it were on the menu because it is one of the best things I've ever tasted. The flavor is incredibly rich! We ordered the clam chowder, halibut, maple glazed carrots and tres leches cake. The clam chowder's presentation was nicely done but nothing special in taste. It came so highly recommended on Reddit and many other diners ordered it but neither my party nor I cared for it. The halibut was good but didn't stand out and the maple glazed carrots weren't to my taste. What completely won us over was the tres leches cake. It is one of the most delicious and most memorable desserts we've ever had. Every layer complemented the next perfectly creating an incredibly balanced dessert that wasn't overly sweet with different textures. We couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It was one of the reasons we decided to give the restaurant a second shot. After our meal I mentioned to our server that we weren't sure if we'd ordered the right dishes since we weren't thrilled with the food especially with how popular the restaurant is. He explained that it's primarily an Argentinian steakhouse and suggested returning to try the meat dishes. On our second visit we arrived at opening without a reservation. There was plenty of seating but since we didn't have a reservation we were seated at the bar. I didn't mind seated at the bar but the bar stools were extremely uncomfortable, almost torturous. Unfortunately, it was too hot to sit outside. Midway through dinner a machine, maybe a dishwasher, was turned on behind the bar. It was loud and the vibrations could be felt. This time we ordered the beet salad, cheese empanada, beef empanada, two filet mignons and the lamb shoulder. The beet salad was a disappointment. It consisted of large overly soft chunks of beets with what tasted like a basic grocery store salad dressing. For a restaurant of this caliber I expected more. Neither of us enjoyed the cheese empanada but we both liked the beef empanada. We also ordered two filet mignons cooked the same way. Both arrived more done than requested and one way more overcooked than the other. They were also on the salty side, though both were very tender. The lamb shoulder, which our server had already warned us about before we ordered, ended up being dry and tough. The chimichurri served alongside the savory dishes was also heavier on onions than I prefer. Overall, the service was excellent, and the complimentary leek soup and tres leches cake were truly outstanding. Unfortunately, despite two visits, the main dishes we ordered didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation for us.

Prawns were massive, but cocktail sauce could use horseradish. The manager dropped bread at this time, also no mention of our anniversary. They corrected this fairly promptly, but then we sat for another 45 minutes before our order was actually taken. I ordered a steak as "somewhere between medium & medium well" and she correctly repeated my order back to me "medium/medium well." When the steak came out, it was WELL well done. Like, burnt. I wanted to send it back, but I didn't want to deal with the embarrassment or have to wait even longer for food. We were about an hour & 45 minutes into dinner by the time we got our food. I was so disappointed! I also wanted to get dessert to celebrate the occasion but the service was SO slow that we had to cancel our after-dinner plans. We ordered it anyway & requested the check promptly, giving up on our plans for the rest of the evening. We were only a party of 2, we arrived early for our reservation, & we watched several larger parties come and go while we waited for our order to even be taken. It was a Wednesday night and not overly busy, there were several empty tables, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. We were also seated at an odd table next to the kitchen with a small divider between us and the staff. It was noisy and I even heard 2 staff members exchange a joke about how someone else had left & said they'd never come back. They laughed about it. I wish I had the guts those people had to get up & leave! I've never once left less than a 20% tip and felt immense guilt not tipping well, but after experiencing the poor service then also hearing the staff blatantly acknowledge it & not care.... I was appalled. The Hilton bought the hotel attached to De Fuego and I'm shocked. This was a Monarch hotel before and I'd assume that the Hilton's standards would be higher but the service and quality here have tanked hopelessly low since the acquisition. I had a similar experience at The Underground before it closed. I've learned my lesson & won't come here for a special occasion again.

I am gluten and dairy-free and landed on the ribeye steak, which came with broccoli and fries. The steak came out with butter on the first go around. Boo! Our waitress was able to correct it, which was nice. The ribeye was flavorful and marbled. I was aware of cross-contamination. If you are celiac, I don't think this would be a good place for you. My boyfriend got the prime rib and was in heaven. Overall, we loved the vibes and food. They do have parking in their lot but can be a little tight.

V old-school feel of a prime rib restaurant just felt right. It was dark but not too dark, walls covered with cool art and jazz playing over the speakers. It felt like the many times I've been to the Tam O'Shanter. Same vibe. As for the meal, I had the French onion soup, which was just amazing; the prime rib, which I enjoyed, but I am always forgetting and constantly reminded that prime rib is too fatty for me... plus I got to taste the Caesar salad which was tasty, The fried calamari which was very good and the cream spinach and garlic bread appetizer. That was a real winner. The service was amazing. We had a group of more than a dozen people and our server kept the room moving the entire night. Nobody waited for meals, no orders were taken in incorrectly, she was pleasant and friendly. Overall it was an amazing experience. I would definitely go back and I would definitely recommend.
