This is one of those places I keep to myself when people lament over the demise of "Old Portland" (namely because I go here myself on a regular basis) For reals this place is legit! This place is about a 3 minute walk from my place. It is a true neighborhood gem. I ordered a Bacon Cheese Burger with steak fries and my daughter ordered a Reuben sandwich with tater tots. We also ordered a beer and a cider which were placed in nice big mason jars for our to-go-order. My hamburger was one of the best I've tasted in a very long time. My daughter loved her Reuben sandwich too! Both drinks were delicious and cold. Wow!!! It's nice to have such a gem of a place sooo close to my home. read more

Who would've thought you can find a great tasting burger tucked in a residential neighborhood in St. Johns? I'm glad I tried this place out as it was recommended by a couple of my colleagues. This is like your neighborhood bar that opens early enough for lunch and doesn't stay open past midnight. The interior is nothing special as when you walk in, the bar counter is right in front of you. I ordered the Your Inn Burger... which came with bacon, fried egg, and ham. Ther burger was pretty juicy and they chop up the lettuce with their special sauce that almost reminded me of a big mac (but not really). The bacon really added more taste and greatness to this burger. The bartender was polite and made sure I had what I needed to finish this burger. Its definitely worth a try...but might be a bit heavy for lunch. read more

Cozy local bar with good eats. Was craving some burgers and a reuben and was surprised that Your Inn served both! It's unassuming from the outside but as you enter you can tell it's a local favorite and they even have a closed off patio area you can enjoy. I didn't stay too long but to comment on the food I was happy with both the bacon cheeseburger & reuben. Sad they ran out of onion rings for the day since we wanted to try them as well but even when getting our order another another patron said they have the best ones there. Both entrees were a good size and loved how the burger has a nice crisp on the patty & bacon. Easy to share between two people especially if you get some extra sauce and tots on the side. Reuben was solid as well with nice chunks and melty cheese. As with a bar-type of eats it can get a bit oily so pace yourself or pair it with a nice drink to wash it all down. I'd come back again to chill in the space more since they definitely had a crowd. read more

Ordered from Uber eats, a few days ago because I wanted to try something new. Unfortunately, two of the items I ordered were not included. I called and Spoke with a very nice guy named Denver. He apologized and said next time I order to call after abs he's include some extra stuff in my order. Well I decided to pick up my friend and we'd venture out for brunch and decided to stop in here. Was greeted by a friendly bartender, place was super clean, and covid conscious. Decided I'd ask for Denver (the gentleman) I had spiked to a few days earlier and reminded him of my Uber eats fiasco, wasn't expecting a free meal, as Uber eats refunded me, so thinking maybe he'll toss in some fries. BUT, Denver offered to buy my lunch! NOT only mine, but my friends too!!! WOW, talk about going the extra mile! Beyond cool. What a fantastic little neighborhood bar! My partner and I really enjoyed the sense of community and overall feel of Your Inn Tavern. Our bartender was a rockstar - she was so friendly, easy to talk to, and proactively made my drinking experience here awesome. For example, I asked for a Moscow Mule and she asked me if I wanted a homemade one with bitters. My answer? Yes please! When I go to bars, folks don't normally ask, so I just appreciated the great customer service. Another example - I also ordered a cider and she recommended for me to have a little bit of cranberry juice on the side to help cut the tartness. She poured some juice in a shot glass for me, and I really enjoyed it. She made my drinking experience here more fun. So far, I've tried their patty melt and corned beef hash. Both were really delicious. The burger patty was juicy and well-seasoned, the bread was perfectly toasted, and there was an abundance of gooey cheese and sauce. Their fries are okay, but I would recommend choosing onion rings for your side. They were the best onion rings I've had in a while - lightly battered and really crispy. Not only are their burgers delicious, but their breakfast menu rocks too. The corned beef was really tender and had that delicious briny, salty flavor I'm looking for with any good corned beef. I also appreciated how the potatoes weren't over-seasoned since the corned beef already added a good amount of salt to the dish. Lastly, my over-medium eggs were cooked as such! In short, Your Inn Tavern offers delicious bar food classics that'll satisfy your craving in a welcoming atmosphere. This is the neighborhood bar you wish you had but you don't cause you live somewhere trendy and overdone. For those of us up here we got Your Inn. Honestly one of the best staffs left in Portland where old farts and young p.o.s. come together over booze and the jukebox, yes we sang and danced from the jukebox. There is a down-side tho: they do close so you cannot sleep or live there, believe me I tried. No pretension here just a place, don't bring your friends. read more

This place earns one star based on combined nostalgia and name value ALONE. As kids back in the day, we got quite a laugh at the double-entendre nomenclature. Here's this ridiculously scuzzy little neighborhood joint that was cracking a joke at itself, and perhaps its regulars who might not be in on it. Then again, at the time, we weren't all that certain that the owners/operators of the "Your Inn" were in on the joke, either... but what did we know, we were just goofball kids... Thank goodness Alanis Morrissette came along a few years later, and taught us all about Irony and set the matter straight once and for all (spoiler alert: yes, this was a gratuitous "ironic" aside). Now our collective wordplay has become immeasurably richer, through nuance and irony-- both deliberate and inadvertent... The building the Your Inn calls home has since had a long overdue and much-needed face-lift, both inside and out. Amazing what a coat of paint will do. A couple of pool tables and large screen tvs, and hey, this place could now double as someone's middling basement bar. All the merriment of my trip down memory lane, in returning to the Your Inn this for the very first time as an adult patron, came to a screeching halt when I was presented a $7 bill for a single glass of...... are you ready for it?..........................PBR!!! $7 PBR pints. I have not been so gob-smacked by a bar tab since I first went to the UK, and was introduced to their steep taxing.... socialized medicine isn't free, after all.... $7 for PBR. I'm still astonished. For comparison's sake, I immediately launched a mini pub crawl through the oldest of the old dives still remaining in No Po. St. John's is by no means lacking in dive bars today, and man has it lost some doozies over the years: Jack n Jerry's, Dad's, the 8 Ball, Cap'n Jacks have all been felled, either by retirement, poor management, hard times, or sank in the mire of their own scandal and graft. But still remaining are the 4 Horsemen of No-Po: The Wishing Well, The Perch, The Six Point Tavern, & Slim's. (there are a few others I could have chosen of course, but this would do for comparison's sake. Besides, there's only so many hours in a day...) The results... A pint of PBR at all these other fine establishments fluctuated all the way from $2/pint to a whopping $2.50/pint. So. The obvious question is: where the flip does the Your Inn get off charging so much more??? Are they trying to finance another re-model of the place, or double their retirement nest egg over night? Jeeeeeeeez! Until I hear that there was some horrible accounting mistake, and that the waitress didn't mean to give me only $13 back from my $20, for that half-finished lonely lil' cup o' PBR, a return visit simply won't be in the plans...(could it be that my math is off? someone in cyber space please notify me immediately if so..) Guess all the yucks we got over the years at the expense of the The Your Inn were on us, after all... read more

This cool little neighborhood bar sits all by itself in a lonely residential area just southwest of downtown St. Johns. Knotty pine walls, homemade pine u-shaped bar, music blaring over the TV's showing golf and baseball above the wall length NASCAR poster. You get the picture. What an awesome name for a bar, Your Inn (sic). Here it is 4 o'clock in the afternoon, packed full and I understand why several were in need of help home after watching the bartender pour a few drinks. Wow, aren't screwdrivers supposed to be a bit orange in color rather than clear? Eight beers on tap, a great lady mixing drinks, drawing beer, kitchen duty and bouncer all in one. I only gave this place 3 stars but when I go back and try some food (Prime Rib on Saturday nights) it may bet bumped higher. Hope the other food is better than the bagged frozen french fries. Even though we got the evil eye when entering as in many neighborhood bars and dives, it was a friendly place and I will return. read more

I rarely drink but i have a close friend who recently moved to St. Johns and this has become one of our favorite hangouts. It's definitely a dive so don't expect fancy cocktails or a foodie menu. The chicken on the salad is breaded, fried chicken strips. But it is a perfect neighborhood dive bar. It's got lots of regulars, the owner and staff are very friendly, it's clean and well lit and the food and drinks are midwest cheap, they have several TVs showing sportball (if you're into that stuff). It has some colorful characters but doesn't have the awful creepy/methy feel that some other St. Johns dive bars have. This is one of the few bars that can actually make me miss bartending. This is my local. I mean that in every sense of the word, it's walking distance from my house, and it's where I go to have a meal, connect with my neighbors, and hang out with the community (and a nice cold adult beverage). Taverns like this are a gem in the vast choices of drinking establishments you find in all areas of the city. What makes Your Inn unique is that their hours are in keeping with the residential neighborhood in which they have been located since 1923, and not being on the main street means that there is less "walk-by" traffic, so most people coming there are regulars. It reminds me more of London pub than anything else. This is not a place that you stay at until 2am, they close at 10 or 11, but they also open early in the day so it's great for folks who work the night shift. Come for the drinks, either a beer on tap or a mixed drink. If you like a bloody mary, theirs are good and spicy. Strike up a conversation with the bartender, and chances are whoever is sitting at the bar will chime in. Order breakfast (the breakfast sandwich is especially good), some wings, or one of their burgers, which they are known for. Settle in, watch a game on tv, and enjoy. Went here the other day for the first time (we live across St Johns Bridge in Linnton) I thought it was a great little neighborhood bar, There was a few people in there and because it was small before long, everyone at the bar was having a conversation with each other. like talking across the bar to other people. There was single person working (Erica i think) who was working the bar and the kitchen. When we first walked in and sat at the bar for about 10 mins there was no sign of anyone to serve us. Ordinarily this might have annoyed me, but after learning that she was in the back making a sandwich for someone, i got the picture - its a small neighborhood bar that has fluctuations in the amount of people who drink there on the weeknights - So there isnt much point in the owner paying for two or more bar tenders if there is only a few (like 3) people in there. She was great - friendly and attentive to refilling drinks. Anyway we got food and a bunch of drinks and had a good time. Food was quite good and the drinks are poured like they should be - i feel like i am getting my monies worth :-) Ill go back for sure. read more
