Q had popped up on my Yelp searches several times but for some reason never went. This evening I went shopping at the mall with my family and we were starving and Q popped back up with it being walking distance. I cannot believe I waited so long to come here!!! Absolutely everything was amazing! The vibes are so great - I could definitely see it being great for date night or a family dinner or after work dinner. Service was also great and attentive. We ordered: - NY steak (dinner special) - Deviled Eggs - Warm baguette - Snake oil mocktail - Chocolate soufflé - kids cheeseburger and fries - s'mores tart (liked this one more than the soufflé!) Love the various menu options and especially the creative mocktail options for someone who is sober curious.

Q never disappoints when it comes to cuisine quality and tonight was no different. 5-stars. What turned things sour for us was the fact that as a patron, if you come on a night that has shows at 7pm and you are NOT chasing the show, your orders get demoted as the kitchen "fast tracks" those who need to leave... even if you arrived on time at 5:30, even if you ordered promptly. To their credit they served the Brussels sprouts and crepes family style as we asked promptly. After that however was a 35 minute wait watching 4 other tables around us (who arrived later than us, who ordered later than us) get their main courses. Then the same thing proceeded to happen for dessert orders even though our soufflés were ordered at the time of entree orders... another extra 20 minute wait. When we inquired as to why, to their credit they were very transparent. That however does not take away the sting of essentially waiting for close to 55 minutes extra. They've got to do better... enforce an early arrival requirement for patrons who have shows... why should those who made a 5:30 reservation and arrived on time be punished? On nights with shows, you've been warned.

I was downtown for an event and just had to take advantage of the opportunity to revisit Q Restaurant. It's been years since I was here but everything is just as good as ever. I love the atmosphere, texture, and lighting of this place. The space is very cozy. The 3 Way Disco is a terrific drink. I also greatly enjoyed the Q burger. And I especially appreciated the veggies that come with it. They were perfectly done. I could not resist the Poached Pear desert. It was terrific! Service is always great. I'm glad to see Q Restaurant is still here and thriving. It's definitely one of my favorite spots downtown.

The food is amazing!! Great service with attention to detail. Fabulous locations on! Love the vibe! We were a party of eight and I loved how the wait staff were so attentive. Cozy seating and super experience. I had the seafood stew and it was delicious! My husband had the flat iron steak and he raved about it.

Overall a good dinner visiting Q but nothing that made the meal "great" from my perspective. The atmosphere is lively but old fashioned. Lots of rich woods and light sconces that definitely give it a warm vibe but something more what you'd expect to take your parents to. Layout is interesting with a dining area in the back, and overall can be a bit noisy just as something to consider. Food was decent but not mind blowing. Would up having the white bean soup, empanada, French onion soup, and the Osso bucco. The Osso was probably my favorite dish of the night but the appetizers definitely weren't huge standouts and lacked in flavor and some textures. It all tasted decent don't get me wrong but for the price I might have expected something a bit more elevated. Service was good and attentive with waters being refilled consistently and generally fast seating. There's also a coat check which is appreciated. Was happy overall. All in all it's a good meal if you need to go somewhere in the area (which we did for a show) but not a place I'd rush back to or make a specific trip for.

Venison special. Venison loin, apples, beets, over a delicious risotto.

My wife and I came here for dinner and it did not disappoint. Duck confit egg roll was really good but a touch soggy on the bottom. I had the Venison special which was outstanding. One of the top two Venison dishes i have had in a restaurant period. My wife had the seafood fettuccine and it was excellent as well. Shared a crazy good banana based dessert to finish it off. Service was attentive throughout and made the experience enjoyable. As mentioned in other posts they are busy and it gets a little loud inside.

Came here for the bar and was pleasantly surprised with how friendly the bartenders were. We are visiting from another state and they were so kind to give us suggestions of things to do around the city. It is a more high end restaurant so it was pretty classy inside. We ordered some drinks and thought it was alright and pretty unique.

Q is a fantastic place for upscale cuisine in a refined yet comfortable setting. I had the chance to eat here twice on my visit to Portland, and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. This is the kind of place where the servers know the menu intimately enough to make informed suggestions on wine pairings, which I really appreciated. If you're dining alone, the chef's counter is a perfect spot to enjoy your meal and watch it be prepared! I've never seen such an organized kitchen, and it was a treat to watch the head chef call out orders, like a stage manager calling a show. It was fascinating! The combination of flavors here is very unique and inventive-- pairing fish with cucumbers, apples, coconut rice, and candied cashews-- and the ingredients are absolutely top notch. Don't miss a meal at Q whether you're local or visiting Portland!

Stopped in early on a Thursday night. Restaurant was well staffed and the server dedicated plenty of time explaining the menu and checking on us. Restaurant is bigger than it appears, so don't walk by thinking they have no open seats. Appetizer. Main course, drinks, and dessert were all visually stunning and flavors were spectacular.

Came here for lunch on a Friday. We had a reservation so I am not sure how long the wait time usually is, but it did get pretty packed as the lunch hour went on. Our server (I forgot his name) was really nice and attentive. Food came out fairly quickly despite the lunch rush. Food was also pretty good. Everything was good, no complaints.

Yes, the Gnocchi lived up to its reputation.
    Andrew A.

Portland business lunch venues have been limited ever since I moved here decades ago. The VQ stood out as one of the best, and now does Q. The house made Gnocchi, one of their marquee items, was excellent. The soft potato pillows are larger than what you might be accustomed to, and this makes a difference regarding its texture. The tender pork ragu makes an excellent complimment. Eying the different entrees around the table, everything looked scrumptious (especially the kabab.) The hyped strawberry non-alcoholic concoction underwhelmed, but maybe just not my thing. Service was pleasant and fast. A great Downtown spot.

Enjoyed a lunch with girlfriends. The place is always busy but service is always great. I ordered the Moroccan Lamb Meatballs. A simply dish with great flavors.

Q Restaurant & Bar Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Q Restaurant & Bar

    Is it kid friendly?

I suppose it depends on your kid, but I think so. It is a small establishment so if your little one isn't good about sitting in a chair it may stress you out. There is enough on the menu that I think you could find something your kiddo would like.

Is the gratuity already added in with final bill?

yes it was when we went but i'm not sure if that's because we had a party of more than 6.

I have a big party of about 10-12, can this place handle that well?

We were there once but my memory is that they can. Definitely call ahead and book your group before you go.

Vegetarian options? Reservations needed for 3 around 6?

They offer vegetarian options. If you want to sit in the restaurant area, which is smaller, I would get reservations. The bar area is very large and has lots of tables and a few booths and we always find a spot to sit.

Are there any vegan options here?

Hi Grace , yes infact there is a variety to choose from .

Is there a traditional afternoon "happy hour" time other than the 10PM time?

Sorry, I don't believe so. I didnt see any signage there that denoted different times for happy hour and their site mentions no other times either

Hi. What is the corkage fee? Thank You

$30 if bottle isn't offered on menu. $50 if so.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
