We attended a dinner here for 9 adults and had a great time. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our waitress did a great job of giving recommendations and offering alternatives per some dietary restrictions in our group. The drinks were tasty and strong. The only drink that wasn't liked was the El Fuerte. All the food was pretty good except the Grilled Prime NY Strip Steak- it was super fatty and really chewy. 3 people ordered this dish and all 3 weren't really a fan of the flavors of this dish. We tried all 3 salads and all the salad were fabulous The desserts were really fantastic and we loved the soufflé. It does take over 30 minutes to make so make sure to account for that aspect. The restaurant is nice and cute inside, and the hostess was incredibly friendly. We arrived early and he was kind enough to seat us before our reservation, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, we were seated by the window right next to the bar, and it was a terrible spot. Huge drafts kept coming through, making everyone at the table cold. It was uncomfortable and very annoying throughout the meal. The food was also extremely overpriced for what you get. We've had much better elsewhere and honestly didn't feel it was worth the price. The service was the biggest disappointment. Our waitress took forever to come back after we ordered drinks, and we were waiting for her to return to tell us the specials. She never came back. The hostess eventually had to take our food order and tell us about the specials instead. To make matters worse, our waitress got our bill wrong. For a restaurant with prices this high, you would think they might offer a small birthday dessert, especially since we were celebrating, but there was no dessert or even a simple "thank you" when the bill was brought over. The hostess was great, but unfortunately, the overall experience just wasn't worth the price. Oh Q, how I love you. I've never had a bad meal here and I've been coming here (and VQ) for years! The meals and memories I have made here are priceless. The food is always delicious and the service is always on point! We got the chicken tortilla soup and it was delicious and so flavorful. Cajun stuffed prawns were absolutely amazing. So crispy and bursting with flavor. We were pretty much licking the plate. The cocktails are always amazing and the bartenders are helpful. The crispy mushroom spinach salad is always a winner. This evening I went shopping at the mall with my family and we were starving and Q popped back up with it being walking distance. I cannot believe I waited so long to come here!!! Q never disappoints when it comes to cuisine quality and tonight was no different. 5-stars. What turned things sour for us was the fact that as a patron, if you come on a night that has shows at 7pm and you are NOT chasing the show, your orders get demoted as the kitchen "fast tracks" those who need to leave... even if you arrived on time at 5:30, even if you ordered promptly. To their credit they served the Brussels sprouts and crepes family style as we asked promptly. After that however was a 35 minute wait watching 4 other tables around us (who arrived later than us, who ordered later than us) get their main courses. Then the same thing proceeded to happen for dessert orders even though our soufflés were ordered at the time of entree orders... another extra 20 minute wait. When we inquired as to why, to their credit they were very transparent. That however does not take away the sting of essentially waiting for close to 55 minutes extra. They've got to do better... enforce an early arrival requirement for patrons who have shows... why should those who made a 5:30 reservation and arrived on time be punished? I was downtown for an event and just had to take advantage of the opportunity to revisit Q Restaurant. It's been years since I was here but everything is just as good as ever. I love the atmosphere, texture, and lighting of this place. The space is very cozy. The 3 Way Disco is a terrific drink. I also greatly enjoyed the Q burger. And I especially appreciated the veggies that come with it. They were perfectly done. I could not resist the Poached Pear desert. It was terrific! Service is always great. Four of us enjoyed dinner at Q. The food and service were excellent. Our order included the salmon, pork chop, Caesar salad with shrimp and fettuccine along with shared desserts of tiramisu and chocolate soufflé. Everyone indicated their meal was very good. The restaurant was somewhat noisy but that did not interfere with the pleasant experience. I often visit Q when I am in Portland. I have always enjoyed my visits, but I am sorry to say the food seems to have slipped. My recent turkey and avocado sandwich featured dried out turkey, salty dried out bacon, and a spoiled avocado. My last seafood stew had sour broth, 3 barely edible shrimp, spoiled tiny mussels, tasteless calamari, tasteless clams smaller than a quarter, and fish scraps that I would not give to a cat. This restaurant was highly rated I. The Portland area do I wanted to check it out myself. It did not disappoint as all of the dishes we tried were on point. I highly recommend the bacon wrapped dates and the mushrooms bruschetta to start. They are known for their oso bucco which was good, but their grilled pork and home made hamburger was the best and I'm not really a hamburger guy. I also loved the avocado bacon salad. If you're a chocolate lover the chocolate soufflé is a must but you need to order it at the start of your meal. I definitely coming back here again. read more

Duck breast - asked for medium which was ok but a little rubbery. They suggested medium rare but I don't like rare duck meat. It seemed a tad tough for medium. Portions somewhat small for price. Bacon wrapped figs were good but maybe a bit too much cheese and making it a bit too rich but that is probably just my preference. It tasted fine. Service was not super attentive perhaps because I was dining alone. They also didn't give me heads up that certain desserts needed time for prep so I skipped dessert although I wanted it. Overall a good dinner visiting Q but nothing that made the meal "great" from my perspective. The atmosphere is lively but old fashioned. Lots of rich woods and light sconces that definitely give it a warm vibe but something more what you'd expect to take your parents to. Layout is interesting with a dining area in the back, and overall can be a bit noisy just as something to consider. Food was decent but not mind blowing. Would up having the white bean soup, empanada, French onion soup, and the Osso bucco. The Osso was probably my favorite dish of the night but the appetizers definitely weren't huge standouts and lacked in flavor and some textures. It all tasted decent don't get me wrong but for the price I might have expected something a bit more elevated. Service was good and attentive with waters being refilled consistently and generally fast seating. There's also a coat check which is appreciated. Was happy overall. All in all it's a good meal if you need to go somewhere in the area (which we did for a show) but not a place I'd rush back to or make a specific trip for. read more

The vibe of the restaurant is very upscale. From the demeanor of the hostess to the waitstaff, everyone makes you feel important. Our server was great. He explained a few things on the menu, pointed out some favorites, and answered questions. He gave us just enough time to look over the menu before coming back. Portland business lunch venues have been limited ever since I moved here decades ago. The VQ stood out as one of the best, and now does Q. The house made Gnocchi, one of their marquee items, was excellent. The soft potato pillows are larger than what you might be accustomed to, and this makes a difference regarding its texture. The tender pork ragu makes an excellent complimment. Eying the different entrees around the table, everything looked scrumptious (especially the kabab.) The hyped strawberry non-alcoholic concoction underwhelmed, but maybe just not my thing. Service was pleasant and fast. A great Downtown spot. read more

I had dinner during summer at Q Restaurant and Bar after reading several write-ups about this spot. I took an Uber downtown from my hotel and was immediately greeted by a friendly young man who made me feel welcome. When I mentioned I was dining solo, he thoughtfully suggested I sit at the kitchen bar where I could watch the chef and staff prepare their various dishes--a perfect choice for someone dining alone. I ordered a wonderful seafood dish with a very nice airy white sauce (I can't remember the specific white fish) and a delightful salad with strawberries and goat cheese. All ingredients were notably fresh, especially the seafood. I paired my meal with a crisp glass of Chardonnay that was heaven sent. My waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations throughout my visit. The pricing was higher than I expected, but I was able to live with it. The restaurant had a vibrant atmosphere--lively without being overwhelming. Everyone around me seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their experience. To my very pleasant surprise, they even treated me to some kind of delicious moist dessert with fresh mangos on the house--a generous touch that was perfect for the evening and made my solo dining experience feel special. I would recommend this restaurant for date night, a group of friends, or even a business lunch or dinner. Sophisticated and fun at the same time! Went in prior to a show at the Keller for a quick drink. The host said we could seat ourselves at the bar which was perfect. We asked if they could make something close to an espresso martini and they tried their best. For $20 each we got a little coffee inspired martini. The glass was not even close to full and it was a huge disappointment. I marked the picture for a reference on how short the drink was. I stopped by here for an early dinner (around 4-5 pm) and had an amazing time. The interior of the restaurant is a bit small in Downtown Portland, but they definitely make use of their space well. When you dine, you won't feel cramped or too close to other customers and their decor makes for a nice ambiance as you are enjoying your food. My partner and I ordered duck breast, a salad, and a warm baguette. Everything was amazing. The bread was so soft and warm when it came out and both entrees were a great. The duck was so tender and cooked to perfection, while the salad was light and exactly what I wanted. I would love to come here again for a proper dinner and try some of their other highly recommended dishes (mainly the osso bucco haha). read more

That's a good summary of my whole review if u don't want to read more, but i will talk about the dishes we ordered. - Wild Mushroom Bruschetta ($18): piled high w/ a delicious variety of mushrooms & the pine nuts added great flavor as well as texture. What stood out to me about this was it was 2 larger and softer pieces of bread it was served on instead of smaller crispier pieces but very good and worth the $. - Seafood Stew ($38): tasted good but not worth paying for I think. Nothing stood out about it except fresh parsley was good. - Venison special ($65ish): if you don't ask the price they won't tell you just fyi haha we found out at the end. Very expensive but also a ton of delicious, perfectly cooked, juicy venison steak. If ur a steak person I would highly recommend. Easily shared for 2. We dined at Q recently and were VERY satisfied with the dining experience from end to end. Everything we tried from their menu that evening was obviously prepared with care and very nicely presented; the dishes were creative, thoughtful, and satisfying with some intriguing combinations of flavors and textures. Everything we tried was wonderful, but the two dishes that stand out in my mind are the warm baguette (sometimes simple is best) and the Wild Mushroom Arancini (roasted garlic cream, crispy sage, aged balsamic); our cocktails were refreshing and wonderfully well-crafted. Service was attentive, friendly, and welcoming :-) The ambiance is warm and bright, with a very nice bar that features big windows all along its whole length. Prices weren't cheap, but totally justified by the quality of the food and service. We look forward to returning! read more

I reserved this place the day of for the 4th of July, and we arrived a little early, but they were able to seat us. First, seating is common as it is in many Portland restaurants, where there is booth and tables sitting side-by-side. Smallish and quaint I would call Q. Second, the food. I'm a vegetarian so I ordered the asparagus and pistachio salad, which was wonderful. I also had the wild mushroom crepe. The salad was earthy and light, which complemented well with the savory crepe (I used the leftover cheese from the salad to add to the crepe which hit the spot). Overall, a great experience that I would recommend. Well worth the hype, at a very reasonable price ($70 for two people), especially when sharing the entrees between two people. read more

While others were seated after us, we watched as their entrees were served, and finished. After 45 minutes, I asked the waitress if our food would be coming out soon. She said its on its way. 15 minutes later we received a very well done pork chop, burned polenta and an undercooked halibut. At no time were we told about any delays with our meal. We were told the cooks were very busy, yet other who were sat after us were served. I asked for the manager and described the experience and food. She said she would let the cook know. The cook obviously knows, or should know, it was not cooked to par. For such an expensive meal, I expected more. We did not stay for them to re-cook and promptly left. read more
