My partner and I visited the Old Music Shop Restaurant for an Afternoon Tea during our trip to Dublin to celebrate our anniversary. I emailed ahead to let them know we'd like to sit outside in the courtyard and that we were celebrating and they were very kind and set they'd reserve an indoor and outdoor table and we could choose which one to sit at when the day came. Fortunately for us, the weather was absolutely beautiful that day and so we were able to sit outside. They had set up a beautiful table for us with a happy anniversary banner and a happy anniversary balloon. It really made the moment very special for us. The staff were so kind to us the entire time. The outdoor space was so serene, and because we came early for afternoon tea - we had the entire space to ourselves which was perfect. The afternoon tea was delicious, the sandwiches were great, the pastries were great, and the desserts were great. My favorites from the menu were the cream cheese and dill pastries, the fancy ham and cheese finger sandwiches, and the eclairs. We also ordered two little Prosecco bottles to celebrate which were tasty. Everything was very reasonably priced as well, I highly recommend Old Music Shop for an afternoon tea! read more

Scones from heaven...I almost wasn't able to attend my High Tea at this venue. A big shout of praise and gratitude to Trevor, who helped me secure a reservation and a delightful afternoon of nibbles and sips. I enjoyed a pot of Earl Grey with my tasty bites that included tuna, egg salad and ham sandwiches. The scones were served warm with cream and raspberry jam, I savored every bite. What made the tea so special is the service, Triana was so friendly and helpful that it made my visit all that more memorable. By the end of visit, I was waddling out the door with a promise to be back again and a big smile on my face from the food, hospitality and pots of tea. If you're in Dublin, waddle on over and give this place a go, you'll be glad you gave it a go! read more

This restaurant is attached to a lovely old hotel. The hotel includes breakfast and so this restaurant is busy in the morning. A buffet style breakfast includes coffee/tea, eggs, sausages, potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, pastry, toast and fruit, cereals. Very hearty. So interesting to listen to all the languages spoken by the many guests. The staff is understandably busy but cheerful and kind. No issues w service. I also had dinner here the first night I stayed. The Guinness stew was so tender and the fig and goat cheese salad was beautiful and tasty. Absolutely would stay here again. Great location less than 10 miles from the Dublin airport. There is a basement bar with nightly traditional Irish music. Fun and inviting. read more

Food was great service was so incredibly slow. We never got desserts (they were removed from bill). I would have loved another glass of wine but the glass was simply taken away as was my sons guiness glass. Pasta w mushroom and truffle lacked salt and pepper and I can't say I could Detect the truffle oil lit was supposed to have. Fish and chips very very good, good value on the prixe fix 3 course meal pre theater. We showed up at 7 with 2 other tables and had to flag the server down for our bill after they clearly forgot about the desserts we had ordered. It was just a shame as the place is so cozy and charming. All would have been good if the service was better. read more

My partner took me to The Old Music Shop for my birthday and as soon as we got in I instantly loved the beautiful interior of the place and the cosy atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and nice too which made it even more welcoming. We both ordered the steak burger with chips from the brunch menu and the waiter told us it might have taken 10/15 minutes as it was made from scratch. Our meals arrived 10 minutes later and I have to say it was insanely good. The meat was probably one of the best I've ever had in a burger, absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Yum. The prices were excellent too, especially for such good quality food. Will be definitely going back there, really lovely atmosphere and want to try more stuff on their menu. Apparently this is a whole restaurant but we only used the little café area! Bright and cheery and relatively empty of a Sunday evening, nice (modern but relaxed) music playing and the carrot cake was phenom. Very decent prices for the tea and cake, and a great choice to finally pop into after having seen it from the bus nearly every day! If it were still on my route to work I'd come back regularly, it was lovely and warm with unobtrusive but friendly staff and great study/work environment as mentioned above. UPDATE: Returned here for a marathon study sesh, recalling the great working environment and the dreamy carrot cake, and wasn't disappointed. Two of us settled in from around 10am to nearly 4pm, in that time getting coffees, cake, and lunch. The coffee and cakes are definitely the deals - brilliant - while the lunch was delicious but a bit overpriced for the portion size, in my opinion! Regardless, staff were friendly if a bit dumbfounded by our staying power, and the experience as a whole was exactly what the doctor ordered. Great music (and, gloriously, not overbearingly loud!) perfect background to working, comfortable seats, healthy ebb and flow of traffic. Second time here and another winner! read more

I was very disappointed with my experience here. The location is very central and from the outside you don't give it too much for the place but as soon as you step inside, you are amazed by the interior, very pretty and well taken care of with spotless white floors- I would give 5 stars for the place itself. I walked around when was looking for the toilet which is downstairs, and noticed beautiful ancient catacombs which now house a bar that is probably a nice place to have some cocktails - maybe some other time! They have a good menu overall but I went in for their breakfast/brunch option. I don't eat meat and was once again in my quest for a fluffy stack of pancakes so went for it and a friend asked for the vegetarian full Irish. The mug of americano was very big and full but it tasted like instant coffee (argh!) and things kept on going downhill from there. The portions were a joke, I could count the grain of beans and tiny diced pieces of mushroom in my friend's plate and my "pancakes" were 2 thin layers of crepe folded up so it looked ever smaller, with a cup of berry compote - the syrup mentioned in the menu, didn't come with the plate but I was charged the same price. I had to ask for some nutella afterwards and they gave me an individual pack. By looking at people's plates I could see the portions are indeed small in a "taking the piss way". It was not expensive but for about 8 quid you can get more elsewhere. The atmosphere is nice and the staff a bit clumsy but friendly enough...if you want to try maybe explore other dishes but skip breakfast. read more

Had the soup here for lunch and all I can say is YUM! It was warming, delicious and came with some lovely brown bread. The restaurant itself is across the road from the Gate Theatre and such a treat. The interior is just beautiful, bright and warm. I went during lunch and it was quite busy, which is nice to see! But that didn't affect service at all, quick as ever! They also had water with fresh fruit in it that you could take for free if you felt like it. Definitely going to go again, it's a great place to meet for lunch and seem like you are in the know of places to go in Dublin. :) read more

We stopped in on a day where brunch was only buffet style, no menu options, but the food was still delicious. I know many people enjoy the entire English style breakfast but it was nice that you were able to sub out items for more of another items (helpful for those with dietary restrictions). read more

They were empty except for one other table when I came here on a Wednesday night. I opted for their 3 course pre-theater menu and choose the soup, the sirloin steak and chips, and the New York cheesecake. I'm not quite sure what the soup was - I was never informed and I forgot to ask - but it was the best part of my meal. I was impressed by how quickly they served it too. When my steak arrived, I had some difficulty cutting it with the knife. The edges especially were impossible to cut. This should have been my first clue that my steak was much too cartilaginous. It tasted fine, but parts were so chewy that they were inedible. In hindsight, I should have cut my losses and avoided these areas, but I was stubborn. In the end, with my food having gone cold, I gave up with half the fish wasted. Luckily, I didn't have to battle with my dessert. It tasted almost as good as the presentation looked. My only complaint was the tiny portion size; the slice was only slightly bigger than the strawberry half placed next to it. Granted, it was a decent sized strawberry, but I would have appreciated more than 4-5 bites. Overall, the Old Music Shop has decent food. However, I would avoid the sirloin steak. Also, the cheesecake portion is definitely not made for sharing. read more

I love this place - the food is really good the staff are lovely and super accommodating. I've been here a few times for coffee to meet the girls for lunch with the girls and our kids and there loads of room for buggies and the staff were great. I've been there in the evening with the girls too (no kids) the burgers are amazing, they told us 20 mins as they were made from scratch and they were so worth it, really good quality meat and I had cheese and onion topping... gorgeous melted cheddar cheese and big onion rings and amazing sweet potato fries. We had loads of wine and prosecco. For casual dining its really really good. I don't think there is anything as good in the area. It is pretty big, I would definitely come here with a group. read more

I am regular in here with some mates. This review is based on coffee break items as I have haven't had lunch there or drinks downstairs in the bar. There are 2 main plusses to this place, the actual premises themselves and the staff. The premises are so comfortable, spacious and bright. Nobody is sitting on top of each other and it is so easy to relax when having your tea, coffee, lovely cakes, toast, etc. However, the main selling point of this place has to be the staff. I don't know if it is the owner himself (Fionn) who does the hiring (he has nice chats with the customers when he is there) but whoever it is has done a great job. Aleks, Triona, Sheila and all the rest of the staff are really what makes this place. They do an absolutely fantastic job. I've forgotten the names of some of the others so apologies for that. As my group are regulars we just have to walk in and they already know our usual order. Rather than having to wait, we are told to relax and take our seats and our order is brought asap and, most importantly, it is hot (coffees, teas, etc). The staff are also so friendly and have time for a smile and a quick word even when they are snowed under. Unfortunately, I may be on the move in the next few months so our group is going to have to find a new place to meet for coffee and I am dreading it. We may get reasonable coffee, we won't get as nice a location and the staff definitely won't be as lovely. I'm really going to miss this place. Thanks for looking after us. Fabulous little restaurant with a variety of delicious options on the menu. My family and I were staying at the Castle Hotel in Dublin that sits right above the restaurant. They serve a delicious traditional breakfast each morning, though I could never wake up my children early enough to enjoy it with me! We did, however, enjoy a couple of dinners there. The tiger prawn curry was amazing, the cheeseburger stacked with onion rings was perfectly cooked, and the falafel was a fantastic vegetarian option. They also serve a full range of cocktails and beers. The wait staff was kind and courteous. A "must visit" while you're in Dublin. read more
