You get a 3 course meal for the price of one! You start by choosing between a soup or salad (they have many dressing choices), then choosing your main. I love their spaghetti with spicy meat sauce, which is seasoned nicely and a good portion. They also bring the freshly shredded Parmesan to add right on top. During the meal they also bring you as much fresh bread and garlic butter you can eat. (Perfect for finishing off any sauce you have leftover). For dessert you get a choice between different ice creams and tea/coffee. The servers are always super kind and the food comes out quickly. They do get pretty busy, even on a Wednesday evening they were pretty packed, so it can get pretty loud. If you want to guarantee a table, I would also make sure to make a reservation (especially for big parties). The vibe of the restaurant is very welcoming with a lot of different decorations that give it a very homey vibe. Came one or two summers ago after hitting up the St. Lawrence farmer's market. I still remember thinking about how delicious the brown butter spaghetti was, that I had to come back and make a review. It's worth visiting at least once just for the atmosphere alone. I could tell it's a tourist favorite. The unlimited bread with garlic butter was delicious, and the Caesar salad was super fresh and crisp. The bam bam shrimp had great flavor thanks to the sauce. The Tuscan lasagna was the only miss for me, it lacked seasoning and needed salt, so I wouldn't order that again. On the other hand, the goat cheese agnolotti was creamy, rich, and very enjoyable. I still remember the first time I went to the Old Spaghetti Factory - I was 7 years old, newcomer to Canada, and the entire restaurant was just so magical. The decor, the stain glass, elevator, tram, carousel, the mural with Jesus and the lambs with the heads of Blue Jays players.... It left a lasting impression on me. I visited a handful of times throughout the years and now, I get to bring my own children there, how cool is that! The food quality has stayed consistent, with their all-in-one pricing still in effect. Every entree you order comes with minestrone soup or garden salad (with your choice of salad dressing), fresh baguette with garlic butter, then ending the meal with ice cream (I suggest the spumoni because it has pistachio ice cream) and coffee or tea. The kids meal has a bonus option - if they finish the pasta, the kids can get more! I ordered my usual seafood linguine (6 big shrimps with tons of bay scallops), served in a rosé sauce. One does not go to The Old Spaghetti Factory for above-average food. It's all about the ambiance and the nostalgia. So when we decided to celebrate a birthday, we figured why not go to The Old Spaghetti Factory. Reservations are inexplicably not allowed after a certain point, but we nevertheless managed to snag a table within the legitimately enormous restaurant. And yeah, the ambiance was exactly as I remembered it. It's super kitschy and fun, and the packed restaurant only enhanced the boisterous atmosphere. This is definitely not where you go for a romantic night out. For my food, I opted for the Spaghetti with Spicy Meat Sauce ("Our homemade meat sauce enhanced with additional spices and herbs"). It's fine. It's the kind of Italian food you remember eating as a kid, with its straight-out-of-a-can sauce and decidedly far-from-al-dente noodles. But again, the nostalgia factor ensured that I enjoyed way more than I would've expected. It's not difficult to see why The Old Spaghetti Factory is still a huge draw. Family-friendly joints like this have sadly become obsolete in this day and age. I'm looking forward to returning on a more frequent basis in the future, that's for sure. read more

Been a while since I've been here. This time I tried the goat cheese agnolotti which I enjoyed more than the spaghettis which I've tried before. The portions are quite large, and they all come with a starter (soup or salad) - I got the minestrone soup which was regular, and an ice cream for dessert (vanilla, chocolate, or spumoni) - I got the spumoni which is a combo of vanilla-chocolate-pistachio, and a coffee or tea to cap off the meal. Overall, the food was regular and nothing special, but it is nice that you get a 3-course meal and a drink for the price. The standout of this place is the decor inside. We came during the Christmas season so there was even more decoration than usual. I have been going to this restaurant for 30 years or so and each time it gets worse. We went on Sunday for my granddaughter's 6th birthday. The server could have cared less about it being her birthday. The washrooms were dirty and the food was not eatable. My son and daughter in law had the chicken cesar salad. Both said it had way too much dressing. My son in law had the brown butter spaghetti and only ate about a third of his meal and the minestrone soup was cold slop. I realize this is not the type of place that where I would expect gourmet food, but come on, at least something palatable would be appreciated. On top of it all the server could not even get our order correct. Last summer we had visitors from out of town who wanted to go to the restaurant and the experience was terrible then too. Tried to eat at St Lawrence Market when we arrived in TO but it was a madhouse. Saw that this place was only a few blocks away and remembered eating there 18 years ago which was the last time I was in TO. Place is decorated nicely. Our server Nicole was great. Expectations were set low, so when we took our kids there for lunch, I made sure to make reservations because this place is always busy. When we walked in it was empty so I wonder if they just hold tables for walk ins?? The decor is eclectic with some interesting pieces like the elevator car with a table for 2 and the trolley car. It's interesting that it looks unique but I guess all the OSF have the same decor. It is nice that all the meals come with salad, bread, dessert..so you get multiple courses. The salad was okay, bread was warm with very good garlic butter and the soup was very good. We all tried the spaghetti; the meat sauce was good, meatballs had too much filler, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My wife had the ravioli and she loved it. Everyone enjoyed their ice cream to finish the meal. Server was very nice and attentive. People may give this place low marks but if you set your expectations correctly and realize this is a tourist restaurant- then you will have a good time. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! What seemed like an average Italian restaurant, turned out to be one of the best fettuccine alfredo dishes I've ever had! I think the unique decor and vibe of the place makes it stand out too. First of all, I have been wanting to come here for several months and I finally made it! It was absolutely worth the wait! The inside of the restaurant is absolutely jaw dropping. My server Adam was absolutely delightful. He was attention, polite, joyful, and made wonderful suggestions also our meal. He was the perfect blend of being available and not hovering. I love sitting inside and seeing all the things on the wall, stained glass etc. It's a blast from the past since it's been around for so long! I'm glad they are still in business. I went on a Saturday and it's convenient to park at the GreenP near st Lawrence market which is near the restaurant and they have a Saturday special 2 hours for $2! Though next time I'll try to go shopping too I had the butternut squash ravioli with added chicken $3. No shortage of chicken My son had the baked manicotti stuffed with spinach & ricotta topped with mozzarella cheese. Service was excellent too. Our waitress actually knew what she was doing and gave good service. This used to be the norm. But I don't find it is anymore. (Sure it is for expensive places) but for family restaurants, nope Other reviews complained it tasted like store bought pasta. I don't think it's supposed to taste like homemade pasta. It's not advertised as such. It's just homey, just like what you'd make at home kind of place. Yes lots of families were there so they certainly cater to kids well too. They have a kids menu. WARNING to bday goers! It really pains me to write this review, because we had a genuinely great time right up until the end. Food, service, vibes were all on point. But the MOST disappointing thing was when we received the bill, we were charged $10 for the birthday cake slice that was brought out for a member of our party. Let me be clear-- we did NOT request this cake. it is not about the price, but the principle. I dont know a single other restaurant that does this. a birthday dessert has always been a lovely little treat (and honestly doesnt really get touched much), and ive NEVER been charged for this, especially when we didn't ask for it. I know Old Spaghetti Factory is a chain and WHATEVER. But, for me, I always make a point to drop by for dinner when I'm in Toronto. It's funny because, growing up on the Canadian border, I often spent more time over the border than in the States. I've been to Toronto dozens of times and took my partner last time I was back "home," for our grand hometown tour. I like that the menu is like elevated Olive Garden in that you get a soup or salad, bread, your main dish of choice, ice cream (including the must-have Spumoni flavor), and coffee or tea. Apps are pretty good as well and pricing is truly affordable for all the food you do get. Especially when taking into account the exchange rate, okay! The Spaghetti is usually what I'll get and I'm never disappointed. Service is super duper quick and that Canadian hospitality is really on display. Wow, where do I start with this one? This was my first time at The Old Spaghetti Factory. I never thought to go here before because I'm skeptical of the quality of any restaurant with the word "factory" in its name and there are so many good Italian/pasta places in Toronto. The only reason I went was because someone was hosting their birthday dinner there. However, they have been around for years so I thought how bad can it be? Well, the answer is really bad. For those of you unfamiliar with this restaurant, most of the meals are set up so that one pays a fixed price for bread, a starter (soup or salad), an entree, ice cream, and coffee/tea. With a fixed menu like that you would think they would bring out the bread right away, but we ordered our starters and then waited and waited. We had to prompt the server to bring the bread. Eventually the starters came. The minestrone soup that was served to some members of the party was cold. When this was brought up with the server, he said something along the lines of: "Oh, it's the end of the night so the soup cools down. There is nothing we can do about it". What!?!? Are you telling me that the soup has been sitting around all day and not heated? Plus, does the stove/microwave not work? This made me question the salad that I ordered because I noticed it was warm. Had it been sitting around all day on some counter next to a warm element? Now at this point, I should have just realized that this was not going to end well and just ordered something very basic (Honestly, I really just should have cut my losses, settled the bill, and left). However, I was really hungry and ordered the "Penne Arrabiata with Sausage". The quality of the "Italian sausage" was the same as the sausage you get from a street meat vendor, the penne was over cooked, and the arrabiatta sauce, although spicy, was one note and way too oily. At this point I paid the bill and left before the ice cream and coffee/tea was served. Not unsurprisingly, soon after I left the restaurant I felt ill. This experience was made all that much better because of the amazing waiter who knew how to tailor to hungry toddlers/kids. For the kids, there is a ton to look at, enough to keep kids engaged on the surroundings (adults as well). I never appreciated why this was recommended as a great experience for children until taking a hungry 4yr old there. The menu is a full 3course menu plus bread. Lots of add-ons if you are so inclined. They have a children's menu with all the staples (chicken fingers, pizza and pasta). They were 90% accurate in keeping track of who ordered what. They were great in speaking with kids and could tell when they needed to expedite the food to calm hangry kids. It was an amazing experience and I would not hesitate to take my kids back there. I can't believe that I'm rating this five stars. It seems inconceivable to me that this place is perfect, but when I think back to it, I can't find a single thing to fault. First off, my daughter and I got to sit in the carousels seats. Not the street car seats, but I think these were better! They were also closer to the washrooms, which helped. The bread - the bread is phenomenal, with the garlic butter. If I could pay to roll up to a table, just keep eating the bread, and then head home happy, I would do that. That, alone, would be a winning night out. Six loaves were eaten. They just kept coming! Hot and soft each time. It should be the old bread factory. But then there was the pasta, which is surprisingly good. You'd think it's just pasta, but the brown sauce pasta is superb for what it is, and the meat balls are delightful as well. And then there was a soup. How could I forget the soup? You're eating all the courses, so you have to have the soup - which pairs perfectly with the bread. And I would say, finally the ice cream for dessert. Except we like to eat our dessert first, so it went bread, ice cream, bread, soup, bread, pasta, bread that we looked at and ate some of, and then felt stuffed...
