Hubby mentioned that this place catered his office so since he couldn't be there- we went in on our own to see what he missed! We weren't terribly hungry so we decided to split 'The Slide' sandwich with gf bread. ( Yay for hubby ) I have to say I normally don't do this as the gf bread is usually horrible but I just wasn't that hungry. I expected to get a small half so I also ordered the tortellini salad to try as well. They were out of tortellini so they gladly substituted it with raviolis and a nice pesto. . Instead, they presented us with two baskets with a small sandwich on toasted gf bread in each- that tasted great, actually- it was delicious. The sandwich had just the right mix of everything. Not sure if everyone gets a lovely macaroon with their sandwich but ours was delicious. Because this place is on the smaller side we got to speak to the owners and learn their story. Gigi and Lance were so accomodating and lovely. They were glad that hubby's work liked their lunch on Friday ( he showed them the memes from coworkers) So happy that we found a local sandwich shop that has yummy food. This isn't a huge shop, but it was busy with visitors and lots of locals. You can order whole or half sandwiches which is great when you don't want to fill up too much. We went during a slow lunch day and we ordered the Reuben and Mediteraneo Sandwich. The Reuben has an explosion of flavor from the bread to the mustard. It was so easy to savor and every bite was perfect. The Mediteraneo was another delicious item as it was like a Greek salad meets a Greek wrap and was as fresh as could be. I've never been in there before, we're new to the area. I walk in with my niece who's 16 years old and she just glares at us. She doesn't say hello doesn't ask any questions nothing. That's fine. I get it it's a sandwich shop, it's not that complicated but it's just very strange when you walk into somebody's business and they don't greet you. I was really looking forward to trying this place after seeing so many positive reviews, but unfortunately, it ended up being a huge disappointment--and I honestly wish we hadn't gone. To start, customers who ordered after us received their food before we did, even though the place wasn't very busy. While we waited, we decided to order a matcha and a latte. Big mistake. If you know anything about matcha you would know by the picture that doesn't even look like matcha for starters. I received a cup of what looked like milk with a hint of green tint. Still, I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. One sip in and I was completely disgusted--it was made with spoiled milk. My boyfriend's latte wasn't any better. While his didn't taste expired, it was basically just milk with zero coffee flavor. Before we left, I let the lady know that the milk they used in the matcha was spoiled. I made it clear I didn't want a remake (though one wasn't offered anyway), and only mentioned it so no one else would have the same experience. I knew they clearly didn't know how to make a matcha it wasn't even worth asking them to make it with non expired milk. The response? A dismissive "oh no" and the drink was taken away--no apology, no refund, nothing. If you're going to have matcha on the menu, at least make sure your ingredients are fresh and that you actually know how to prepare it. Based on this experience, it's clear neither of those things were happening here. The food itself was mediocre, and combined with the poor service and spoiled drinks, this visit was a total letdown.
