I come here every year when I visit Willits, for the past few years. Best, cleanest place in Willits for the price. The rooms open onto a courtyard and the parking is just behind it, which gives it a cozy feel. The rooms are clean with nice TVs. The family who runs it lives on site and are very nice. The breakfast they give you is very minimal but they have a deal with a diner down the street for a variety of breakfast meal options in the $5 range. Also they are right next to Burger King. read more

No complaints here. The motel is convenient, the staff efficient. Beds are super comfy and rooms are clean. The so called themed rooms only extend to the external of the rooms. For an overnight stay in Willitts I would stay here every time. I'm more of a Hilton kind of guy but this little hotel is awesome! Super clean rooms! Very comfortable beds! Staff very attentive and great to work with. Water is hot and plentiful. Only thing not in the room was an iron and ironing board otherwise you have everything else. Stopped unexpectedly in town when the highway was too foggy to continue up into the parks to camp. I arrived at 11pm and was greeted immediately by a very helpful staff member. Very reasonably priced, and I like that the motel rooms face in to a courtyard off the street, making it quiet and a little more secure feeling. Everything seemed clean and well cared for, furniture is a little worn and mattresses are a bit firm, this isn't high end luxury, but that wasn't what I wanted, as a place to sleep before exploring the Redwoods this is perfect! read more

The Old Went Inn was a great place to stay for a night on our road trip from San Jose, CA to Bellingham, WA. The facade was of an Old West town, complete with wooden sidewalks. We stayed in the "Stagecoach" room where the theme was continued. They even served a continatal breakfast: OJ, cereal pastries, yogurt, toast, tea, and coffee. So, if you're ever traveling north on 101, it's a very good place to stop and it's reasonablly priced! read more

I didn't stay here, but my aunt did. I picked her up from the airport and helped her to her room. It was very clean and tidy. It smelled good. Everything had a nice finished look to it. It was a large room with a microwave and a fridge all that she needed. They had a nice parking lot in the back off the street. A nice little courtyard and smoking area. I will definitely be recommending this place to anyone else who travels here. Also I should mention they were about $50 cheaper than the other places in town that I had called prior to her arrival. read more

Going to school in Humboldt county has its ups and downs- one of the downs is the 11-hour drive I face every time I decide to visit home in Southern California. I've always thought Willits was a great place to stop north of the bay for food and fuel, and so this time around I figured I'd overnight. Chose this place off of glowing reviews from Yelp, and I have to say the reviewers are spot on- thin walls, nice grounds, quaint themed decor, great DirectTV, comfortable rooms, friendly staff. The one thing I don't agree on, however, is quiet, and that is why I've knocked two stars off. The noise stems mostly from the room we were given- on the ground floor directly facing the highway. Most rooms are in the back, so they're shielded from the passing trucks that roll past at all hours of the night. The room itself was dead silent, which made any passing 18-wheeler sound like a near-miss meteorite. Turning on the Whirlpool A/C was little better, it cools the room fantastically well but in the process sounds like a hurricane inside a tunnel. It's not terrible if you're not bothered by noise or a heavy sleeper, but personally I've become better acquainted with the 1AM traffic patterns in Willits than I'd ever wanted to be. In short this seems to be a decent hotel- comfortable, clean and with all the amenities you'd expect from a hotel in the price range. If you or your travel compantion happen to be light sleepers, though, try to avoid room 1. Or bring earplugs. Breakfast isn't awful, sort of a baby-continental. Juice, milk, cereal, bananas, and danishes. If more is desired, there's a Jack-in-the-Box as well as a Safeway within 5 minute's walk. Would stay here again, just would try to avoid this particular room. read more

Cute, clean, quiet, comfortable and a great base to explore from. We skipped the in-house breakfast to get moving faster, but it was exactly as reviewed by others. The room was really spacious, and the bed was absurdly comfortable. We checked in late and were promptly offered a upgrade to a king, which was awesome. Our stay at The Old West Inn was perfect. Rooms are very clean and bright. We stayed for 2 nights but let me tell you, if we did not have to go back to work, we would have stayed longer. Each room is themed which makes it fun. We stayed in the "Doctor" room, king size bed. I have stayed here before, and will continue to when I travel up to Willits. We got a great room for a great price last minute! The rooms are nice and quiet and very clean. Seems to be newly renovated with nice touches. The concierge was extremely kind and polite!! Room has microwave and tv and mini fridge. Two comfy queen beds. Chair and desk. And big comfy chair. Closet with hangers and a tub/shower combo. You also have a large variety of breakfast options. They are partnered with Lumberjacks Restaurant locates about a half mile down the road- offer of your choice between 7 breakfast options for only $4.50. Or eating for free a continental breakfast option at the old west inn. We chose lumberjacks and it was delicious! Big portion meals too! I'm extremely grateful to have found this place! It's so nice and such a stress relief because most places you'll find around this town are terrible condition. We will definitely come stay here again! Highly recommend! Usually I am not keen on old motels with an emphasis on quirk - but the wacky Old West Inn and it's silly theme rooms charmed me. The rooms are clean and the staff is super sweet. If you're driving through Willits and need a place to park yer pony 'n lay yer head, give the Old West Inn your business. Cheaper and more memorable than the big, budget chains. read more

We came here during the 4th of July weekend. This was the last place closest to our destination that had a vacancy so we booked it. We stayed in the Bunkhouse room, and the experience was subpar to what we expected from all the great reviews here. Themed rooms are cute for the first 5 seconds, then they get old real fast - especially when we discovered that the mattresses were so soft that we had trouble falling asleep at night. The middle was so sunken in that when you sit down it feels like you're going to fall onto the floor. Also, the room smelled really musty when we first entered, even with the fan on. The ceilings must not be very thick because on the first floor, we could clearly hear the footsteps from the room above (this is really obvious at 7 am in the morning). Additionally, they are advertised as offering a "continental breakfast", but with what was offered on the day we stayed there, it would barely even qualify as a simple breakfast. There was milk, cereal, and a few pieces of fruit... that was it. Not even a table to sit at to eat! At the end of our stay, it felt like the only good thing about this place was the decent wifi. read more

The theme was a nice touch to an otherwise pleasant motel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The furnishings were nice and well maintained and I would definitely stay here again if passing through. My only complaint is that if there is someone staying in the room above you, it's pretty loud when they walk around. So, try to get a room on the one-story section or on the top floor if you will find that irritating. read more

This family owned hotel has air conditioning, free HBO (I think), free high speed Wifi, and is clean and the rooms are pretty large. Oh, and bath tubs, even though there is a drought right now. And a fridge! I have been in a lot of motels in my life, and most lack in one or more areas. Honestly the clincher is the free high speed Wifi. I just stayed at the Old West Inn for the second time. It's a small family owned old fashioned motel that has been remodeled. The rooms are large, immaculate, the beds are very comfortable, and the price can't be beat. Book directly with the inn and they will beat any internet rate. The staff are also very friendly. There is a gas station across the street and a Burger King at the end of the block. I travel alone and felt very safe here. The negative review on here baffles me. My husband picked this place and it is such a cute motel! So clean and the beds were perfect after a day of driving. The staff showed us multiple rooms and let us pick. Really enjoyed our stay. Clean, nice staff, good sized room. We were easily able to get an extra towel and extra blanket.
