The food was great! I have no complaints! My steak & fries were delicious today! Also I'm always willing to give a new server the benefit of doubt. But I had to ask for my salad. She said "she didn't know salad came out first"!!? I learned that when I was a server, first day! She mentioned that she works breakfast and lunch, but even with that you get salad or soup it always comes out first. So I didn't worry too much about that but then it took forever to get our food. I had to ask for a refill in a "to go" cup. Then she proceeded to tell us how they give her free food & the meal that my husband just paid almost $20 for, "she can get free anytime she wants"! That is not something you should tell a customer who's just paid $20 for their meal. I'm not real happy with this place right now. We do love the food and will probably try again. I gave it three stars because the other person that was working here was nice. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere is ok. It's always a bit cold but other than that, The best part about this restaurant is that the food is delicious. One thing I'd like to say is that this new server (*we know that because she told us she was new. She has been here about two weeks). She was over in the corner, eating and drinking in front of us & chewing and just sitting there while we were waiting for our salad and food forever. When I worked at a restaurant, we weren't allowed to do that. One last thing, that my husband and I would both like to say is that there was some kind of an art show going on after we sat down and had already ordered. And there were people standing around our table, taking art up and down off the wall and walking around us closely. They were talking around us closely and all of that and it was just kind of annoying... when we were having a nice dinner and there was like nobody there when we walked in. It was really weird to have an art show going on during the height of dinner time when we were there at 4:30 in the afternoon and we're leaving at 5:15 PM. There were other tables of people sitting against the wall, who were even more annoyed because people were much closer than grabbing pictures of the wall right next to them. But again, I will say the food was wonderful

Very tasty brunch spot! We came without a reservation on a Saturday morning and I thought it would be hopeless but they worked it out for us. Very kind and accommodating staff. The biscuit was a stunner - and I know my biscuits! I got the maple fried chicken biscuit entree and it was everything I was hoping for. Large flaky biscuit with fried chicken and runny egg, perfection. We sat outside which was warm but doable. Inside would have been cooler but we came without a reservation so we were willing to go wherever! I'll go back for that biscuit anytime! Picnic table outside could use cushions - painful to sit on for more than a bit.

Delicious brunch menu. We shared the brisket skillet and fried chicken biscuit. I wish the brisket was a little more tender and that the maple butter on the biscuit had a little stronger maple flavor, but would get both of those items again. The chocolate croissant was good but nothing out of this world. The place is big and open. It seemed like they could fit more seating in the dining room, especially considering the wait was 20+min. Staff was friendly and attentive.

The service, (Leah and Kiara took very good care of me) and the "non-chain restaurant look" was nice. It had the feel of Saturday Brunch with the music and how busy it was. I didn't mind waiting 45 minutes for my table for 1. I ordered The Farmer's Hash. Which is a sausage, potato, a few veggies, and egg bowl. Here's what I wish my bowl had. Crispy potatoes, grilled sausage (the sausage had the texture of being boiled), and brought to me steaming hot. The flavor was just okay because it was warm and not hot. The entire bowl's texture was soft. Soft potatoes, soft sausage, mixed with eggs over easy. It all felt the same while chewing. The croissant was okay. A little doughy in the middle so I removed that part, but the rest good. The combination of the Croissant and the Hash was a 6 out of 10.

Came in for a late lunch. Needed some comfort food and the grilled cheese and a oat milk latte did the trick. IKIK. Oat milk then a full load of cheese on bread. Like I said I needed comfort food. The sweet potatoes fries were cooked just right. My daughter got the chicken pesto penne and loved it. Chicken was cooked just right.

Fantastic - Really! - Breakfast delivered by Uber Eats this am. Why fantastic? Scrambled eggs were fluffy and must have been 2 large eggs. Breakfast potatoes were plentiful and soft on the inside and properly crispy on the inside. The sausage patty was the size of a small hamburger and was perfectly char-grilled and really tasty. I ordered a side of bacon and it was some of the best bacon I have eaten in the last several months, four large pieces, and not overly fatty. Just good, crispy bacon cooked perfectly. I also selected a biscuit instead of toast and it was a fluffy, oversized biscuit that was delicious. Again, a fantastic breakfast. I will be taking out from this restaurant again soon.

Toast with avocado spread, fried egg over easy, topped with cherry tomatoes and arugula. Balsamic drizzled over the top.

Great local cafe. The Olive Branch is exactly what I'm always looking for in a good breakfast place. They have a big open dining room with a lot of tables. We only waited about 15 minutes on a busy Sunday afternoon. Note, many places are closed on Sundays in TX, if you're from out of town. The services was very friendly. I got the chicken and waffles. Nice and sweet. The salty corn meal-y breaded chicken went good with all the sweet stuff that was going on. I wish there were bigger pieces of chicken and more of the candied nuts but overall it was awesome. Parking was easy and there's a cool little shop upstairs worth checking out. Enjoy. read more

I was in Waco over the weekend and wanted some breakfast, so I did a google search for best breakfast in Waco and the the Olive Branch stood out for me with the excellent website. The wait wasn't bad and they make the it bearable by providing complementary coffee. Nice staff (thank you Avery, and the hostess was very nice ) our food was fast and delicious. The cinnamon pancakes were awesome and didn't have to wait to pay which is always a big plus for me. Wish that there was one in Dallas but the next time I'm in that neck of the woods I'll be back. read more

Fabulous restaurant with a very peaceful ambiance. We were greeted quickly when we came in. We seated ourselves on a Friday at 12:38 pm with a full house & a waitress was quick to the table to get our drink order. Placed our lunch order after having to choose from a very awesome choice of fresh dishes. There was a slight hiccup on my dish, but when we let our waitress know it was quickly rectified. I can't say enough how delicious & fresh the food is here! If you are looking for good locally sourced food restaurant,this is the place! We will be back tomorrow to have lunch before heading home to Fort Worth. read more

I love The Olive Branch! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great, and the service is wonderful. The only downside is that everyone knows this place is amazing so Sundays can be busy and have a longer wait time. But trust me, it's worth the wait. Not the greatest food in Waco. I was very disappointed after seeing all the other pics and food options and not having the same outcome. When we first arrived, it was empty and the music did not match the ambiance. They were playing horrible hip hop music with bad language. I thought I was at a club for a second. The service and the appetizers were good. I ordered crispy brussels sprouts and my son the truffle fries. However, the burgers were cooked to a crisp burnt and dried. Our server didn't ask how we liked our burgers cooked and just as I recalled she hadn't, I was thinking I hope they don't overcook them because of how long they took to come out. I don't mind a smash burger so long as they're moist and not dry which what this pattie looked like. I personally make better burgers at home. I ordered the bacon jelly burger and the bacon looked very cheap. They need a higher quality bacon. I honestly don't think the meat was Akaushi. I didn't take pics because I was so done and ready to get out of there. read more

The service was the only good thing here IMO. The pancakes were too dry & cakey. I kept putting syrup on them and felt they were still dry. The same thing for the biscuit sandwich, the biscuit was so crumbly my brother-in-law couldn't eat it without utensils. My MIL & FIL didn't like the meat on their sandwich & asked to not be charged for it. The mac & cheese was decent. It was it a nice spot close to shopping so that was a plus. I wouldn't go back again. read more

Delicious food and great service! We got there on Mother's Day about 15 minutes before they opened. There were a few people waiting outside already, so we got in line. By the time they opened at 10:00, the line behind us was so long! I figured once we got seated, along with everyone else, it would be a little slow-going and I was preparing myself to have patience. I was wrong. We had great service! Got our drinks right away (including my free mimosa for Mother's Day), ordered in a timely manner and didn't have to wait very long for food. Two of us had the Maple Bacon Chicken Biscuit and one of us had the Brisket Burrito - both delicious. read more

As a local, I've eaten here a A couple times now (only for breakfast). I wish I could write the service differently than the overall rating! Service has always been, extremely prompt and very attentive and friendly! 5 STARS on that! But sadly the food is at most 3 stars... Twice now the avocado toast has been so soggy with balsamic vinegar it was hard to get down. The orange juice was warm and tasted like cheap Hi-C juice... which was pretty overpriced for that. I've also tried some sort of brisket skillet egg melt... The brisket was quite salty and the fries that were in it were burnt! I will probably try again in the hopes that the food quality goes up but it's pretty overpriced for food that's not very enjoyable... read more

My wife and I took a friend to lunch on her birthday. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The restaurant was clean. My wife had a salad which she absolutely loved and our friend had an omelette which she really enjoyed. That's one nice thing about this restaurant, you can get breakfast into the afternoon. I had a hamburger which was delicious but very thick and a bit cumbersome and messy to eat. I also had fries which were very good. We will definitely be repeat customers. read more

I haven't been back to the Olive Branch Cafe and Bakery in awhile. I had the opportunity to visit it this past week and I decided that I wouldn't eat breakfast here. They've totally changed their menu. I asked the waitress why they changed the menu and I was told it was because it makes it easier for the cooks. For some reason, I thought a restaurant was there to serve its customers but I guess I am mistaking. There are a couple of severe problems with the new menu. The first problem is that it's far too expensive for a breakfast menu. I don't want to visit a restaurant where they are literally forcing me to eat from a brunch menu every day. The second glaring problem with the new menu is that it's far too much food to eat for breakfast. I want to break my fast, I don't want to eat and fall asleep. Whoever decided that this was a good strategy for business is sadly mistaken. Not a good move at all. I can scratch this place off my list of breakfast spots. read more

Good food, but can't get to enjoy. Only day I'm able to come for breakfast is Saturday and they've been closed every Saturday for a month now until noon for private parties? Wouldn't be an issue if they notified on a website or voicemail. Instead, won't answer the phone and you don't find out until you walk up to the door and see a sign on the window. Unfortunately I live 20 minutes away which is the reason for this review. Simply put, be better and inform your clientele. read more

O always enjoy coming here, especially if I'm wanting a special meal to treat myself or my family. I can always count on the consistency and delicious taste of the food, and the employees provide excellent customer service. They have some of the best food in town, and it is always delicious. The desserts are really good too, and they have cheap kids options, even for picky eaters. read more

Not many restaurants in Waco rival this one... We wandered in one night not sure what to expect, but were blown away by the menu. 4/5 stars. Good breakfast, if you want some meat this is a good choice. Only critique I have on this dish is put it on a bigger plate. I felt a little cramped while trying to eat this. Affordable scratch made bistro food. Amazing tomato basil soup Huge sandwiches, fantastic fries! Love the new service set up Can't wait to come to a dinner service and try the fried goat cheese Only thing I would say is the chicken pesto sandwich needs some tweaking, would have loved for it to be pressed like a panini,& more saucy pesto. The Olive Branch........thought I was finding a new gem but apparently we have been in Waco for 14 years!!! Ok so they aren't marketing themselves very well.....too bad BECAUSE everything we had tonight was LIT (as my daughter would say) Decor is sorta "I just moved in here" haven't decorated yet vibe...wait staff attentive....Seat yourself........ My wife had the pesto, and it was dry. I had the bolognese, and it was terrible. It was little more than spaghetti sauce with pot roast. They'll probably say it was brisket because it's in Texas, but trust me, it was pot roast. The chairs are steel and very uncomfortable. The wait staff were very kind. The only reason I'm voting 2 stars instead of one is because everyone is stretched due to the labor shortage. I will never visit The Olive Branch again, and I advise you to avoid it as well. read more

Had such high hopes for this place, but was let down a bit. The list of bad occurances just sky rocketed over the whole 2 hours in this place. 1.) their menu online says they have French dips, which was a huge factor to coming, but they no longer carry it. 2.) on the weekends you cannot get your eggs done any way as the menu states, only scrambled. 3.) you absolutely cannot order off the kids menu if you are not under the age 12 year's old, even though we've already ordered meals, just wanted a side mac & cheese. 4.) got a BLT & was cold, untoasted, and dry. 5.) never got the macaroni ordered 6.) spent an hour waiting on a wrap and 2 cold sandwiches 7.) bill price issues After all this, the manager did finally take care of our meals which we did not ask for, but was greatly appreciated. Hopefully with a few changes behind the scenes this place will be as awesome as it looks! read more

Nice small find here in Waco, not too much to find in Waco so worth a stop. The ambience is actually really rustic looking and that adds plenty of flare to the place. Coming here in winter is somewhat nice however it is a cold place - high ceilings contribute to the place feeling colder, so advice; bundle up a bit. Now lets talk about the service, food and quality. Service is great, super friendly our server Ethan was incredible courteous. The menu is decent but I wish they had more signature dishes. One great thing - they serve REAL espresso! I ordered the Stuffed French Toast of the Day; Banana Foster filling!! WOW! It was moist, not super sweet - just perfect (maybe a bigger portion or two portion sizes). Only downside I saw was the food takes a bit to actually come out . They also should serve maple syrup instead of the prepackaged "syrup". One amazing thing the porcelain cups!! Wanted to take one so badly! And the place is packed! read more

Our party of 3 arrived about 6:30 PM & was able to be seated immediately in the spacious dining room. Service was swift, professional & friendly. We started with delicious spinach artichoke dip with tortilla chips. Next came a scrumptious Caesar salad followed by Cajun chicken penne pasta for my 2 companions and baked lasagna for me. Everyone enjoyed their entrees with me bringing home half of my lasagna. Both companions had margaritas while I, the designated driver, stuck with water. It was a very enjoyable dining experience which we would do again. read more

The changes that have been made recently are incredible! Working in downtown Waco I am always looking for a place to get new fresh meals. Plus I get to buy wine for my house on my way home which is a huge plus. I don't have to deal with the high prices of other stores and their staff is always helpful and kind. I've been going here for 10 years now and I could not be more excited to see where they are going and growing with an ever changing Waco. This place has went in the dumps. Prices are outrageous and the food taste like it was from a freezer,. Then i hear some guy in the back screaming at his empolyees. The owner is walking around drunk and the servers are to busy flirting with the dm to take our orders. Qe used to come here all the time but either they changed owners or they are all broke now. I eat here at least once a week if not more. Omelettes are amazing for breakfast! Caesar salad is great for lunch, it's a light Caesar, not thick and heavy. Fresh baked French Bread is amazing!!
