    Gyro and rice

The Olive Tree is a great choice for casual Mediterranean Dining. The food is really solid and some of their items rival anywhere you'll go. Stellar hummus, tabouleh, rice and pita. Really great on these signature items. The falafel and the grape leaves were really good. The gyro was tasty but where those stellar items shine, the gyro was just good. This is a restaurant where you order at the front and they bring your food to you. The soda fountain is there as well. Nice clean, casual dining and the service was really good. Olive Tree is a really solid Mediterranean experience. I suggest give them a try.

We were super close to not going here for lunch because the parking is horrible (not their fault!) but I'm SO glad we got lucky with a parking spot and were able to go. Food is delicious. It is an order at the counter style place where they bring the food to you, which we weren't expecting, but service was great! The food was absolutely amazing. We are Mediterranean food connoisseurs and they had all of the staples down pat. Fresh pita, light and fluffy hummus, and moist falafel. Definitely go if you're able to find a parking spot!

We don't eat mediterranean food often, but when we do we always remember how much we love it. On our way to a yelp event we found this place tucked in a strip mall in San Marco. When we walked in we were greeted immediatley, asked if it was our first time in and were given the lay of the land so to speak. We took menus to a booth, decided what to order then went to the counter to order. My wife ordered the kabaobs, 2 chicken and 2 beef so there was plenty of food and enough for lunch. She has a severe allergy to bell peppers and the gentleman at the counter made sure the cooks understood the importance of cleaning the grill, changing gloves and getting new tongs. This was really going above and beyond. I ordered the gyro platter and we added stuffed grape leaves. We went back to the booth and everything was full service from there. The building itself is a little dated but the booths were comfortable and there was plenty of room to move around as needed. Our food arrived and was excellent. Her kabob dinner came with mediterranean potato salad and tabouleh, on a bed of rice. There was no way she would eat it all, but now she has lunch tomorrow. I tried her tabouleh and it was very good. She said everything she ate was very good. The grape leaves were the best I have eaten. Sometimes they have to much vinegar or something that is very bold that takes away from the grape leave. Whatever that is could be tasted in these as a compliment, but the focus was on the leaves and the filling inside. My gyro platter came with mediterranean potato salad and baba ghanoush. There were 6 or 7 big slices of gyro meat on a bed of rice with peppers and onions and plenty of taziki on the side. They told us that the taziki was made in house and was extra creamy. The gyro required a knife to cut but was tender to chew and very tasty. baba ghanoush was new to me. It is like humus but made with smoked eggplant instead of chic peas. It might have been my favorite part. I did not really like the potato salad. It was not bad, just not my thing. It was cold, but not creamy. I think the base is olive oil. Next time I will order the tabouleh instead. This place is family run and they really take pride in what they do.

The food was amazingly delicious. First time going in and really trying Mediterranean food besides trying the sandwiches. This plate was right up my alley! My husband even enjoyed it! Will definitely be going back! Fast service and so very friendly and helpful at telling us about the food and suggesting something we would want.

Olive Tree is one of those local gems people love but also often take for granted. Excellent food, reasonable prices, friendly owners/staff, and consistently on point. In a city with many Mediterranean & Middle Eastern options, Olive Tree stands out. Their hummus is superb: creamy and flavorful without too much garlic. Made from quality fresh ingredients, this is the hummus your grandmother would make if she was from the Middle East. The grilled meats are perfectly seasoned and served with pita bread that is hot and fluffy, a perfect platform for the hummus. I am partial tithe James Special, which is chunks of either marinated chicken or steak served with sautéed onions, along with a serving of hummus. But the falafel, kibbe, and shawarma are all excellent. One of the best affordable spots in town for tasty and healthy food.

One of my favorite casual spots in San Marco! The food is consistently fresh and flavorful. You truly can't find better baba ghanoush or hummus anywhere else--both are creamy, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care. A must-visit if you're craving delicious Mediterranean in a relaxed setting.

How have I never heard of this place before! Everything was amazing, the dated decor added to the vibe. Food came out quick and hot and looked and tasted fantastic. I ordered the surf and turf and was not disappointed. Everything was ok point and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We were greeted with a smile and they took our order even though it was almost time for the kitchen to close. Great time, great meal, I will definitely be back.

Prior visit was excellent with the schwarma platter. Somehow my order got translated into a schwarma wrap this time??? It was overpriced, had very little filling, and didn't taste at all as good as the schwarma I had on my prior visit. I was so excited to return but it was such a letdown; worse as my last meal before boarding my plane home.

Falafel, hummus, tabouleh They look more well done than they were.

Excellent food and service. We enjoyed the lentil soup, falafel, hummus and tabouleh. Very flavorful and fresh. I brought a lot of food home to enjoy the hummus with olives later. Space is casual and clean. We will visit again soon?

Veggie platter - are those mi is tire grape leaves?

Solid Middle Eastern food spot for lunch and possibly dinner, but it is close to my office so for me it is only lunch. It is located in a strip center in the San Marco area of Jacksonville with ample parking in a private lot. At first I was taken back by the small portions, especially looking at the size of the grape leaves, but guess what, they were delicious. When I got over the size issue I was impressed with the flavors. So the food: Hummus - really tasty, my favorite. Rice - another good dish full of flavor Falafel - it is not my favorite food, but this was well cooked and spiced. Grape leaves - mini size, but so good. Spinach Pie - maybe not recognizable at first, but another solid flavor. If it just was not so tiny. As you can tell, I was impressed with the flavors but not impressed with the portion sizes, but for me it tasted better than canned grape leaves and packaged food. Maybe I am missing something, but the flavors were spot on.

We started with Hummus and Tata Chips, which was crispy pita chips with a standard (but delicious) hummus. The Tata chips had great flavor, like Stacy's Pita Chips but better! The firat course was White Bean Fahsulia, which was a rich and hearty bean stew that packed huge flavor! Second course was Falafel with Tahini Sauce. These were a nice little bite between dishes. The center of the falafel was light, fluffy, and flavorful! Course 3 was Masaka-Ah served with Timan Asfur Rice. While this dish was good, it was my least favorite of the evening. I ate half of the stew and passed the rest off to my husband, who loved it! Course 4 brought us Dolma's served with Roasted Vegetables. I LOVE stuffed grape leaves and these were seriously on point! Tart and tangy up front followed by a whole lot of savory. Course 5, my favorite, was the Spicy Curry Chicken served with White Rice. This was the dish that made me fall in love with Fast Eddy's food and had me coming back for more. I took a couple bites and got a to-go container to enjoy this later at home. Finally, we reached the end of our dinner and Course 6, dessert, came out. Freshly made, sweet and decadent, traditional baklava. Filo dough, crushed walnuts, butter, and honey. This just melted away once it hit my mouth. I don't eat a whole lot of sweets but this had me closing my eyes and enjoying every bite. Every time I've visited Fast Eddy's the staff has been amazing, friendly, and hospitable. And of course, the place being completely decked out with rock and metal music memorabilia, i feel right at home here. Oh, and there's never a time where I leave that place without an order of the Pasta Anatoli to-go!

Just delicious and hits the spot every time. I've eaten at Bodrum a handful of times, but have ordered for delivery probably a bit more and everything is just as good as if you are sitting right there in the restaurant. However, I do love eating in because the ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful with the owners not leaving out one detail to make diners feel right at home. After a short wait, my food was delivered, and I noticed a small container of red sauce included with the meal. I wasn't sure what it was at first, so I tried it with my fries. I originally thought it was curry, but it had more of a thin, runny consistency with a spicy kick. It worked okay with the fries, but I chose not to put it on the gyro. Unfortunately, the fries were the biggest disappointment. They were extremely salty and mostly made up of the small broken pieces you usually find at the bottom of the bag. The gyro itself was good, especially after adding some white sauce my friend received with her order. We ordered the exact same meal, so I was surprised that she received three sauces while I only received one. Overall, my first experience with 904 Saffron was lacking. Between the overly salty fries and the inconsistency with the orders, I expected a little more for a meal that cost over $15.e

Halal Food in Sunni Islam - Conditions (Translated and Organized)…read more In Sunni Islamic jurisprudence, "halal food" refers to food that is permissible according to the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad . It must meet several conditions related to the nature of the food, its preparation, slaughtering process, and consumption. 1) Lawful Nature of the Food Itself The basic rule is that all foods are permissible unless there is clear evidence of prohibition. Forbidden foods include: * Pork and its derivatives * Carnivorous animals (such as lions, wolves, dogs) * Animals declared impure or harmful * Animals explicitly prohibited in Islamic texts (e.g., domesticated donkeys in most cases) 2) Conditions of Islamic Slaughter (Dhabihah) For meat to be halal, the animal must be slaughtered correctly: * The slaughterer must be a Muslim or, according to many Sunni scholars, from the People of the Book (Ahl al-Kitab) * The name of Allah must be mentioned at the time of slaughter ("Bismillah") * The windpipe, esophagus, and main blood vessels in the neck must be cut * A sharp instrument must be used to minimize suffering * Blood must be fully drained from the body * The animal must be alive before slaughter 3) Purity and Absence of Impurity (Najasa) Food must be free from any religious impurity, such as: * Flowing blood * Urine and excrement * Contamination from impure substances or unclean surfaces * Contact with alcohol if considered ritually impure or prohibited in consumption 4) No Mixing with Haram Ingredients Even if the base food is halal, it becomes haram if mixed with prohibited substances: * Alcohol or intoxicants used as food ingredients * Pork-based gelatin or enzymes * Fats or oils derived from forbidden animals * Any additive derived from impure or prohibited sources 5) Lawful Means of Acquisition and Preparation The food must be obtained through lawful means: * Honest trade and lawful purchase * No theft or usurpation * No use of unlawful wealth such as interest (riba), bribery, or fraud 6) Utensils and Cooking Equipment * Utensils must be clean and free from najasa (impurity) * If previously contaminated, they must be properly purified according to Islamic rules * Utensils of People of the Book are generally permissible if clean 7) Intention and Consumption Ethics * Food should not be used to harm oneself or others * Excessive waste (israf) is prohibited * It must not be used directly for sinful purposes Summary In Sunni Islam, halal food is not only about the type of meat. It is a complete system involving: * lawful ingredients * proper slaughtering * purity from impurities * lawful earning and preparation * ethical consumption
